Berlin, est-elle toujours “arm aber sexy”, pauvre mais sexy ? En apparence, il semblerait que l'énergie qu'elle dégage soit toujours aussi vibrante. Je suis sûre que celles et ceux qui y ont déjà passé 48 heures pourraient dire que c'est là l'une des villes les plus chouettes et hédonistes au monde, que les gens savent y faire la fête et sont super ouverts. Si le mot “cool” avait une incarnation urbaine, ce serait Berlin. Ok, mais que se cache-t-il derrière la carte postale ? Que se passe-t-il quand des espaces considérés comme alternatifs, contestataires deviennent de simples objets de consommation culturels ? Quand le capitalisme  se les approprie pour en faire une image de marque et neutraliser du même coup tout le potentiel de contre-pouvoir qu'ils offraient ? C'est ça aussi la gentrification : les espaces urbains deviennent des objets de validation individuels, des décors excitants pour ses habitants et ses visiteurs les plus privilégiés. Et Berlin n'échappe aucunement à cette logique. C'est une ville historiquement chargée qui s'est réinventée à tant de reprises. Mais aujourd'hui derrière ce strass, qui est-elle vraiment ? Dans le deuxième épisode de la série STILL & fracas, nous allons explorer ce qu'il se cache derrière le décor festif et chaotique de la ville de Berlin. Beshear lied from the podium at a press conference while claiming State Representative Bivens is spreading "misinformation" and should be ashamed.The state Supreme Court ruled that Beshear regained the power to control the Fair Board and the Executive Ethics Commission. Outside of the absurdity that the commissions and boards the legislature created by statute can now no longer be changed by the legislature, the ruling had another impact.When Beshear regained power over the board, he immediately appointed new commissioners and fired the Fair Board CEO weeks before the state fair. He also removed agriculture from the mission statement.When asked about the change in the mission statement and the removal of agriculture from it, Beshear lied. He claimed he didn't even know if the Fair Board's website was the Fair Board's website and that they hadn't changed anything—which, of course, is false.Also, the JCPS audit is out. I'll give you a quick summary of the findings before I dig deeper into the audit next week.
