Jill ‘Sixx' Gevargizian is the director of The Stylist that first showed up as a short, in the 2018 anthology, Watch If You Dare. It was co-written by Eric Havens, who is also co-writer on Call Girl, Jill's debut film and this year is the 10 year anniversary! Jill talks her secret to success and why she surrounds herself with people who are good at what they do and who are better at it than she is. It's been her version of film school. She points to her having a good network to source from when thinking about a project and that project's success. Knowing people like Laurence Harvey (from Human Centipede) who she met at a convention and Tristan Risk (from American Mary) who she met through working with the Soska Sisters, knowing the right people just made it easy to execute her movies. Jill brought her years of experience in her trade as a hairstylist in her film, The Stylist, to make it as realistic as possible. So she created the first hairstylist slasher flick! She talks about other amazing films and franchises that also got their starts as shorts like Saw and The Babadook. Jill's film career really began with the creation of Slaughter Movie House where weird indie horror shorts are shown. She is producing on a film doing festivals right now (as of Summer 2023) called Black Mold, so keep an eye out!! Check out the Texas Chainsaw Massacre documentary, The Legacy of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Jill is also on that as a super fan and contributor! There are some secret projects coming up including one produced with Ed Sanchez (Blair Witch Project) and written by Adam Cesare (Clown in the Cornfield book), so keep an eye out! Episode 32 sees Andy and Mitch face their greatest battle yet. The challenger? You may know her from such films as Astron 6's The Editor and Jen & Sylvia Soska's American Mary, it's Tristan Risk! Her chosen film? Masters of The Universe! A difficult film for Andy and one that he considers his first cinematic disappointment, Masters of the Universe, based on the line of figures by Mattel and (loosely) on the cartoon of the same name by Filmation, stars Dolph Lundgren as He-Man (for some reason) and Frank Langella, on absolutely blistering form as the Lord of Snake Mountain, Skeletor!  The synopsis is as follows:  When the evil Skeletor finds a mysterious power called the Cosmic Key, he becomes nearly invincible. However, courageous warrior He-Man locates inventor Gwildor, who created the Key and has another version of it. During a battle, one of the Keys is transported to Earth, where it is found by teenagers Julie and Kevin. Now both He-Man and Skeletor's forces arrive on Earth searching for the potent weapon. Horror Business kicks things off with a little bit of real life horror, including a Ohio teacher who showed her students The ABCs of Death to expected results. We also tell you about the real undead cat who rose from his grave and Gunnar Hansen donning the Leatherface mask "one last time." Moving on to the world of fiction, we tell you about the reunion of Tristan Risk and Laurence Harvey, the reboot of The X-Files, the continuing saga of Friday the 13th, and an update on It. Furthermore, we discuss the Walking Dead companion series, a new zombie movie being helmed by a Backstreet Boy, and rumors of a remake of The Blob. Also, World War Z 2 is set to have a "clean slate," whatever that means, The Green Inferno could finally see the light of day, The Crow loses its lead, The Strangers 2 is going to be a thing, and more Ghostbusters casting news. We close out the show with our reviews. We start out with the horror-comedy-shlockfest Zombeavers, about a colony (we Googled it) of undead monster beavers who attack a group of girls in bikinis. Our second review is the cult-body-horror film Starry Eyes, one of the most acclaimed movies of 2014. Did we agree with that assessment? May marks a great milestone in horror as the much anticipated American Mary (finally!) gets a limited release in US theaters this Friday, May 31st! To support the momentum, Hannah and Ashlee got a chance to yuck it up with directors Jen & Sylvia Soska along with their supporting gems Tristan Risk and Paula Lindberg about the film. The film was described best here: “The horror version of Legally Blonde”!!! Hannah and Ashlee also talk body horror in regards to 2000's Ginger Snaps. Both women dig not only the themes of feminism, menstruation, transformation, and lycanthropy but also Katherine Isabelle's awesome performance. They wanted to show her some shine for being the formidable Mary. And Ashlee would like to mention some of her other favorite films in the body horror genre: John Carpenter's The Thing, Martyrs, Hellbound: Hellraiser 2, and Videodrome. Some of Hannah's include: The Brood, Basket Case, Alien, Frankenhooker, anything Cronenberg, Hellraiser, Bad Biology, May, Dead Ringers, Audition, Re-Animator, and The Fly.
