Candace Cameron Bure thinks watching horror movies in your house will open portals to bring demonic forces through; the same thought applies to Liquid Death as well. What does she do when a commercial for a movie comes on? We knew we always liked Kathy Santoni for a reason. We talk about that, recap Phoenix Fan Fusion, talk about having nuts, and we review Fido and Frankenhooker!
"Got any money?! Wanna party?!" For the second time this year, we're checking out a Frank Henenlotter text as the indie director's Frankenhooker celebrates its 35th anniversary. Expect plenty of praise for Patty Mullen's (too brief!) comedic performance, talk of the film's exploitation elements, and debate about Jeffrey's likeability. Plus: sequel vs remake, a trans reading, and why exploding dummies is always funny. DownloadWelcome to episode 411 of LOTC and this episode is the start of a new decade for a new year. Each year LOTC has been visiting decades to rank their top 5 horror movies from each year. This year the crew has chosen the 1990's decade to travel through. !990 is where we have traveled to this episode and as we always do, we are ranking our top five horror movies from that year. We invited special guest Greg Buzzelli from Monsters and The Mosh Pit as well as other projects to join us. This was a year that surprised the hosts as they were thinking 1990 would be a weaker year for horror, but it was actually a strong year. In this week's episode, we're covering a movie that we've frankly been putting off for like two months now with the 1990 supernatural (?) thriller (??) "Demon Wind." Special topics for your consideration include: running at full speed out of the gate and being unable to maintain that pace for any amount of time, lying about the dates of milestone events, He-Man lights, wizards, pudding, and what if anything a demon wind actually is. As far as horror goes, 1990 was an absolute mess as evidenced by the high highs and low lows of Episode 28- "Child's Play 2," Episode 97- "IT," Episode 132- "Tales from the Darkside," Episode 167- "Puppet Master 2," Episode 184- "Tremors," Episode 194- "Santa Sangre," Episode 320- "Nightbreed," and Episode 335- "Frankenhooker." FORGET YOUR FURBIES, YOUR SLAP BRACELETS, AND YOUR POGS! MONSTER PARTY WANTS YOU TO FIRE UP THE VCR AND GET READY FOR SOME CHILLS! SHAWN SHERIDAN, JAMES GONIS, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, revisit that strange, transitional, hard-to-define decade of film that produced so many fright classics! Put the lotion in the basket and steady your nerves for... '90S HORROR! The 90s were an interesting time for the horror genre, and unlike the 80s, a bit more difficult to pigeonhole. It was an era that expanded the success of many popular franchises like FRIDAY THE 13TH, PHANTASM, BASKET CASE, HELLRAISER, EVIL DEAD, and CHILD'S PLAY, experimented for better or worse with CGI, and gave us new horrors that still had a bit of that loveable eighties vibe. Yeah, we're lookin' at you FRANKENHOOKER, DEAD ALIVE (aka BRAIN DEAD), and WISHMASTER! And let's not forget the unprecedented Oscar wins for SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. By introducing elements of the thriller, "Silence" and its descendants/copycats nearly made horror mainstream. But there's so much more to the story than that. By sheer coincidence, the guest we got for this episode just so happens to be the producer/director of the mega-documentary, IN SEARCH OF DARKNESS: 1990-1994, and a past guest/dear friend of MONSTER PARTY He is also the visionary who brought us the long-form 80s horror documentaries in the IN SEARCH OF DARKNESS series, IN SEARCH OF TOMORROW: THE DEFINITIVE '80S SCI-FI DOCUMENTARY, ALIEN EXPANDED, and THE THING EXPANDED! And if that were not awesome enough, he's a multiple RONDO AWARD WINNER, the past executive editor of FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND, and writes the celebrated blog... IT CAME FROM...! Please welcome back... DAVID WEINER! NOW PULL YOUR HAIR BACK IN YOUR BUTTERFLY CLIP, STOP FEEDING THAT TOMAGOTCHI, AND LET'S GET TO THIS!

Join us as we discuss allegories to drug use, a way too long and graphic death scene, and possible connections to Germany in the 1930's. On Episode 28 of our show "Grindhouse Pizzeria" which is dedicated to all things encompassing various Grindhouse, Drive-In, and Exploitation genres; we will be taking on and dissecting what we here consider to be one of the all time great exploitation flicks with 1982's "Basket Case". Directed by Frank Henenlotter (Brain Damage, Bad Biology and Frankenhooker) and starring Kevin VanHentenryck. It's a gruesome and ghastly tale of a young man and the formerly conjoined and murderous twin brother that he carries around in a wicker basker around 1980's NYC! This savage story of Duane and twisted brother Belial even spawned two infamous sequels. Our discussion is headed off by our regular hosts Tom Komisar and Cameron Scott! Join the two of them as they take a deep dive dissection of this gritty exploitation effort! Come on in at the Grindhouse Pizzeria, pull up a chair, and grab yourself a slice! "They didn't want him to live. But he fooled them. He didn't die, he just got stronger."

“Want a date? Going out? Lookin' for some action?” On this week's titillating episode of The Blind Rage Podcast, it's Frank Henenlotter's terrifying tale of sluts and bolts, the one and only FRANKENHOOKER! After a freak mishap with an out-of-control lawnmower, Jeffrey Franken's (James Lorinz) fiancée (Patty Mullen) is eaten by the maniacally spinning blades. Only a few pieces of her remain: an arm, a foot, and, of course, her head. Unable to accept the loss, Jeffrey concocts an elaborate plan to resurrect her, using the dismembered limbs of New York City streetwalkers to fill in the blanks. Oh, and did I mention there's supercrack? FRANKENHOOKER is a hilarious and wildly entertaining dark comedy that remains a cult favorite, even close to 35 years later. I'm very happy to finally feature it on the podcast.
Join us for a live screening of Frank Henenlotter's cult classic BASKET CASE with an introduction by the Cinema Shock team! DATE: Tuesday, July 16, 2024 The feature debut of director Frank Henenlotter (BRAIN DAMAGE, FRANKENHOOKER), 1982's BASKET CASE is a riotous and blood-spattered “midnight movie” experience! Synopsis: Duane Bradley seems like a pretty ordinary guy. His fomerly conjoined twin Belial, on the other hand, is a deformed creature who lives in a wicker basket. Arriving in the Big Apple and taking up a room at a seedy hotel, the pair set about hunting down and butchering the surgeons responsible for their separation. Filmed on a shoestring budget against the backdrop of 1980s New York (where it played on the midnight movie circuit for over two-and-a-half years), BASKET CASE has clawed its way from its humble origins to become one of the most celebrated cult movies of all time. TICKETS: $10 ADV | $12 DOOR DOORS: 6:30 | MOVIE 7:00 Location: Coffee Underground | Greenville, SC Purchase tickets at https://gutpunchevents.square.site/ CULT CLASS is a monthly cult classic movie screening series produced by GutPunch Cinema and curated by Cinema Shock!
