This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, I pulled two seemingly contradictory cards (the Knight of Wands and the Seven of Pentacles) and found myself reflecting on the very human tension between urgency and patience. At first glance, these archetypes appear at odds: one races forward, fiery and eager; the other waits, steadies, and tends. But beneath the surface, they share a common root: passion. In this episode, I explore how both cards express passion differently - one through movement, the other through stillness. I unpack how this polarity often shows up in relationships (think of the couple where one is impulsive and driven, while the other is methodical and calm) and how both partners are often acting from the same place: care, longing, and a desire for connection. The challenge is in learning how to integrate their styles rather than battle over whose rhythm is “right.”We then zoom out into the lens of neurobiology by pairing the Knight of Wands with dopamine and the Seven of Pentacles with serotonin. Drawing on recent research from Stanford and Columbia, I discuss how these neurotransmitters operate in opposition yet depend on each other: dopamine initiates action and drives momentum, while serotonin regulates patience and long-term reward. Just like tarot, our brains need both. Without dopamine, we never start. Without serotonin, we can't sustain.By working with the Knight and the Seven together, we can begin to honor the full spectrum of passion: the spark that ignites, and the soil that nourishes.Deck used: Tarot VintageStudies cited:https://www.columbiapsychiatry.org/news/lack-serotonin-receptor-plays-role-aggressive-and-impulsive-behaviorshttps://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39586475/Pre-order my forthcoming book Dark Shadow, Golden Shadow here and get an exclusive sneak peek!
Send us a textEpisode 217His life begins in turbulence and ends in mystery. Orphaned before he can form a memory, carried from place to place, he grows in the shadow of loss. Genius fuels his pen, yet poverty dogs his steps. He loves deeply, yet death claims those closest to him. In taverns and lecture halls, on quiet streets and in crowded parlors, he moves like a man marked by fate. Through each hardship, he writes — stories of haunted houses, guilty hearts, and dreams that curdle into nightmares. His words bring him fleeting fame, but never peace. To speak of him is to tell a story where brilliance and ruin walk side by side, and where art becomes both salvation and curse.Support the showInsta@justpassingthroughpodcastContact:justpassingthroughpodcast@gmail.com

The fate of Judah hangs in the balance—will God answer King Hezekiah's desperate prayer and save Jerusalem from destruction in 2 Kings 19? As Judah teeters between faith and failure, 2 Kings 20 and 2 Kings 21 reveal a shocking twist: a miraculous rescue followed by a king's fatal mistake and his son King Manasseh's reign of terror.Themes of this podcast episode:God's power is greater than any challenge. When King Hezekiah faced the Assyrian threat, he turned to God instead of relying on human strength. His story reminds us that no obstacle—whether an army, crisis, or personal struggle—is bigger than God's ability to save and provide.Pride can turn blessings into burdens. King Hezekiah's faith brought about his miraculous healing, but later his pride led Babylon to Judah's riches. His mistake teaches us to turn to the Lord rather than pride in our blessings. Success should deepen our dependence on God, not inflate our ego.One Generation's Faith Doesn't Guarantee the Next's. Despite having a righteous father, King Manasseh led Judah into idolatry and evil. His reign proves that spiritual heritage isn't enough—we must choose to follow God ourselves. Faith isn't inherited; it's lived.
How we integrate light, dark and shadow into our life.

The Dark Shadow Over The Karen Read Case Named Michael Proctor How do you trust the truth when the truth seems tainted? As Trooper Michael Proctor faces a hearing to determine his future in law enforcement, the cases he's touched, including Karen Read's trial, are cast under a shadow of doubt. Allegations of bias, evidence tampering, and unprofessional conduct could potentially unravel prosecutions and strengthen defense claims of governmental misconduct. Could Proctor's alleged missteps tip the scales of justice, or are we simply witnessing a defense strategy banking on chaos? From questionable text messages to conspiracy theories surrounding the deaths of Sandra Birchmore and others, this episode delves into the implications of having a "bad apple" investigator in the mix. Does Proctor's presence on these cases create irreversible damage, or can prosecutors salvage credibility? And with today's jurors faced with conflicting expert testimony and increasingly complex cases, is the pursuit of justice becoming an impossible task? #TrueCrime #KarenRead #SandraBirchmore #MichaelProctor #CourtroomDrama #EvidenceTampering #Justice Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Whatever one thinks of the creative potential of AI, it's definitely been great for metaphor makers. Yesterday, we had Shannon Vallor explaining why AI is a mirror of our social and political values. Today, Madhumita Murgia, the Financial Times' Artificial Intelligence editor and author of CODE DEPENDENT, suggests that we are all living in the shadow of the economic perils and inequities AI. The metaphors of shadows and mirrors return us, of course, to Plato's cave and Socrates' invention of metaphor to define justice. Rather than rely on dusty old metaphors, perhaps AI offers an opportunity to get out of our (metaphorical) cave and stare directly into the sun. That said, CODE DEPENDENT, already short-listed for the Women's Prize for Non-Fiction, is a valuable addition to the deluge of new books about AI. Madhumita Murgia is the first Artificial Intelligence Editor of the Financial Times and has been writing about AI, for Wired and the FT, for over a decade. Born and raised in India, she studied biology and immunology at Oxford University. Your pantry's sweetest ingredient has an extremely bitter history. The sap-producing grass known as sugarcane has been grown and enjoyed by humans for at least 10,000 years, but it was only relatively recently that it went from a luxury to an everyday ingredient—a change that also triggered genocide, slavery, and the invention of modern racism. In this episode, how the Crusades got Europeans addicted to the sweet stuff, and how that appetite deforested southern Europe and kicked off the trade in enslaved Africans, before decimating indigenous populations in the New World and codifying racism into law. It's a dark story that involves Christopher Columbus' mistress, the early human rights advocate whose campaign to save indigenous people encouraged the horrors of the transatlantic slave trade, and a trip to southern Louisiana, where we met Black sugarcane farmers to explore sugar's troubling legacy there. No sugar coating here: join us for the fascinating and horrifying history of this household staple. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast we are talking to Gary Hall, son of actor/comedian Huntz Hall. Like many of our episodes, we find that there are way more questions than there is time to answer and this episode was absolutely one of them. We talk to Gary about, of course, The Bowery Boys and the Dead End Kids of which Huntz Hall a part of since the first Broadway show in 1935 to the last incarnation of the gang in 1958. As Sach Jones, Hall was featured in literally a couple hundred short films and features and became known for his comic relief, his upturned cap and his outrageous behavior, both on and as we learn from Gary, and off the camera. We also spoke with Gary about his mother, Louise Hall who was a pioneer wardrobe and costumer in the 1970s. She worked on shows like The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Bewitchedand Get Smart meaning….his mother not only dressed Elizabeth Montgomery, Barbara Feldon and Mary Tyler Moore, she basically was at the forefront of the women's movement figuratively and literally because of her genius. She was quite the trail blazer as we learn from Gary because as a woman she could not get a job in another part of the business because of her sex. Gary was a fascinating person to talk to as he is now the second person we've had on the podcast from a pretty unique profession. He also talks about his stint as the principal at the Oakwood School where Josh went to school from K through 9th grades. Gary's insight gives us a fascinating background on why and how the school was founded and it's roots in the progressive movement and show business and why they intersect. Oh and did I mention, that Gary's father and Josh's mother Edie Adams starred in a Florida production of Arsenic and Old Lace in 1988 co-starring Dody Goodman, James Mac Arthur and Dark Shadow's Jonathan Frid? Yeah this is a good one. Take a listen to the Rarified Heir Podcast. Everyone has a story.
