Even though it's the heat of summer, we don't shy away from dark heavy beers. Wander Beyond has released a silky 15% ABV beer. Vulpes is an easy drinking chocolatey imperial stout that is just what you want right now. Puhaste is no stranger to big bold stouts either. Brewed with Ethiopia Beloya coffee, this rye whiskey barrel aged beer is fun sipping stout for a warm summer night. Feel decadent as you pour this into a snifter and relax.

Based in Central Manchester, Wander Beyond Brewing launched back in December 2017, as a small team with an ambition to make beers bursting with flavour. Inspired by the outdoors and their love for adventure, Wander Beyond began to develop a surreal and exciting world to reflect the flavour of their beers. Hops climb mountains, barrels dwell in caves and mischievous fruits roam free. https://www.wanderbeyondbrewing.com/ Dan wholeheartedly recommends https://www.reasonsbeercafe.co.uk/ in Burnage, SW Manchester.
In recent months I've become fascinated by the idea of legacy in modern beer, and what kind of impact today's brewers will have on the next generation of beer lovers. We're incredibly fortunate for the existence of beers like Timothy Taylor's Landlord, Harvey's Best, St. Austell Tribute and Fyne Ale's very own Jarl—beers with a seemingly timeless quality that will hopefully continue to be enjoyed for decades to come. But what's next? They say it takes at least 10 years to build a brand, and with many modern breweries focusing instead on limited releases and one-off beers, what are they building in terms of brand and identity? In this discussion we try to get to the bottom of this.I'm joined on this panel by three people who are highly invested in their brands: Tina Breslin, the illustrator behind the compelling cans from Manchester's Wander Beyond, Andrew Mathews of Vibrant Forest Brewery, known for its equally vibrant artwork, and the lovely Iain Smith, marketing manager at Fyne Ales, who was the person kind enough to let us folks at Pellicle host these talks. It's a fascinating chat, especially if you're interested in branding and design as well as the beer itself. And apologies for a little background noise, this was recorded at a festival heading well into the livelier portion of its afternoon. Andrew and Tom take on the latest release from Disney Pixar. Will Onward provide the escape from Coronavirus everyone needs? Can it match up to the likes of Toy Story and Coco, or will it fail to deliver the magic? Chris Pratt and Tom Holland take time off from the Marvel Universe to take us into a modern look at a magical kingdom which has given in to the spoils of technology.Recorded at Knott Bar. Beer from Wander Beyond and Lervig.
Wander Beyond Brewing came out of nowhere and has been exciting the European beer market. They have been releasing high avb beers in little cans and high abv beers in big cans, but they've been releasing exciting beers. We got our hands on a little can of Gulp, a 12% abv imperial milkshake ipa. We combine it with a Mexican stout from Weldworks called Mexican Achromatic based on Mexican hot chocolate.

Nestled in a railway arch down in Ardwick, Manchester, is a brewery doing things differently to its next door neighbours. Within a stone's throw of Wander Beyond, Alphabet Brewing Company and Track Brew Co - and a mere walk from Cloudwater - Manchester Union Brewery are not turning out big juicy DIPAs or thick luscious imperial stouts, but have turned to traditional central European lager brewing techniques with a modern local twist to create a unique legacy beer that the people of Manchester can be proud to call their own. Talking to Will Evans - an employee of Cave Direct in the North and one of the four directors of Manchester Union Brewery - we discuss some of the challenges Will and his business partners have faced in running a lager brewery, including being muscled off taps by multinationals, fermentation times vs. cash flow, and running a tap room bar next to some of the UK's hottest craft breweries. Although we didn't record sampling the lagers themselves, they were utterly sublime! Check out https://manchesterunionbrewery.com for more details. --- Today’s show is proudly sponsored by Brew Broker – the marketplace for the brewing industry.
