We got some heavy hitters this episode. Big beers are always in season no matter the weather. Beerium has released their annual stout called Beeriums Friendly Giant 2025. Filled with notes of liquorice and chocolate, this stout is roasted really hard and the flavors come through. One of our favorite Norwegain breweries Lervig has come out their annual barleywine release Paragon 2023. This barrel aged beauty is always one of our favoite releases of the year. #beer #craftbeer #drinks #imperialstout #barleywine
That's a wrap for 2024. We hope you enjoyed the episodes as much as we enjoyed making them. We'll end the year on with a couple of beers from two of our favorite breweries. Martin brought 3 Fonteinen Prium Mirabelle blend no 25. This geuze has Mirabelle plums added and was added to Olorosso barrels. This is one of our favorite blends that 3F makes. Stefan brought Lervig Silent Exchange by Rackhourse. The Rackhouse series is an outstanding line from Lervig. They always bring a high level of quality and flavor. Silent Exchange is a collaboration with Pohjala. They take the imperial stout and blend Finnish rye, maple syrup and put it in bourbon barrels. Have a happy holidays every and we'll see you in 2025. #beer #craftbeer #drinks #geuze #lambic #imperialstout #barrelaged
his week the boys travel for the first time to Norway as they review beers by the Lervig Brewery and their range of Lucky Jack beers. In the Hop Topic, Barber brings us the latest news about emerging iKeg technology, recently unveiled at BrauBeviale 2023, the conference for the beverage industry. Be sure to follow Lervig
It's the end of year and of course we have one last episode to give you. Drinking tasty beers takes no breaks and neither do the episodes. As always, Martin brings his best to the episode with an outstanding 3 Fonteinen. Zenne Frontera Blend No 94 is a blend of five lambics aged in nine Oloroso barrels and one Amontillando barrel. Stefan didn't want to be out done so he brings one of the stellar Lervig Off the Rack imperial stout. Off the Rack Port is a collab beer with Basqueland Brewing. The 13.4% ABV imperial stout is aged in tawny port barrels for 9 months. 2023 is over now and we're really excited about 2024...because that means more beers! Have a Happy New Year! #beer #craftbeer #drinks #3fonteinen #lambic #gueuze #imperialstout #lervig
Men satsingen koster. Advent 2022 Day 23 is the pentulitmate day. It's been an incredible calendar and it's ending strong. Lervig Paragon is one of the best barleywines. It's an annual release and it's one of the beers we look forward every year. This is from 2018. Each year it's a little different. The 2018 version is more malt and bourbon forward than other years. It's sweet and boozy in all the best way. #beer #craftbeer #drinks #advent2022 #levig #paragon2018 #barleywine
350 episodes ehh! It seems nuts that we've made it this far. So, to celebrate, we have an entirely normal episode. But Ben has played some games and takes the entire hour to talk about them. He jumped back into OlliOlli World with the Finding the Flowzone DLC and bludgeoned his way into Bloody Ties, the new story DLC for Dying Light 2. To drink! Lucy has a Christmas beer and drinks Lervig's Jule Bock, Aadil skips across the pond for the 10 Year Anniversary Dry Hopped Farmhouse Ale from Jester King Brewery, and Ben has two beers from St Ives Brewery, the Hella pale ale and Meor IPA. It's a dark and heavy episode. We have two big, heavy Norwegian imperial stouts this episode. Amundsen Dessert in a Can Coffee Coconut and Caramel Macaroon is what it says on the can. Coffee, coconut and caramel macaroons give this a sweet, delicious imperial stout incredible flavor and keep it from being way too sweet. Lervig Off the Rack is their premium stout series and they rarely disappoint. Australia Dark Rum 2021 is a blend of imperial stout with chocolate, vanilla and caramel with another stout to balance it out. It's then aged on dark rum barrels for 12 months to create a unique experiece that you'll want more than one bottle of.
Corina Gimenez is the founder and chocolate maker of Xoco by Corina, a bean to bar chocolate company in Norway. Corina is from Venezuela, and she uses Venezuelan cacao in dialogue with Norwegian culinary ingredients in her range of unique bars. Her 3 Bean Stout bar is made in collaboration with Lervig Beer. Their 3 Bean Stout is an Imperial Stout brewed with cacao beans, vanilla beans, and tonka beans, and Corina makes her bar with the beer. Listen in as Corina explains the spirit and the process behind this excellent beer-infused chocolate bar.You can listen to a longer interview with Corina and Lervig head brewer David Graham here.
Surprise surprise, it's Hey Brew doing a story about some weird folks with weird obsessions. This time around, it's Mike telling the story of Heaven's Gate, the new religious group (read: cult) that gained notoriety in the late 90s for, well, some pretty grim stuff. We handle it in the traditional Hey Brew style, which is to say, we drink a mad beer while we talk about it and try to distract ourselves from the story.Featured beers: Lervig x Põhjala - Staring At The SunFollow Hey Brew on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Advent 2021 Day 24 is finally here and we're sad it's all come to an end. But we're leaving on high note with Lervig Rum Barrel-Aged 3 Bean Stout. Filled with cocoa, vanilla and tonka beans, this stout sat in rum barrels for half a year. The result is an incredible blend of vanilla, cocoa, cinnamon, coconut imperial stout. This one blew us away. There was so much happening in the glass and we kept finding more and more to like. It was a great ending to a great Advent Calendar. Have a happy holidays!

Still getting lots of great stuff from The Veil released into the European beer scene. I wonder if the US is getting a lot of good stuff from Europe. Broz Broz Night Night is a DDH version of their Citra DIPA Broz Night Out. With a 9% ABV, this is a big beer that is a way to smooth and easy to drink. AF Brew has teamed up with Lervig to release two beers called Year of Fear. We got Year of Fear Kentucky, an Imperial Stout aged on Kentucky Bourbon Barrels. Such a fun beer.
Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, Disney and Pixar's original feature film “Luca” is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water's surface. Is this another superb string to the Pixar bow, or will it sink to the bottom of the ocean?Beer from Duckpond Brewing and Lervig.
One of the most unique concepts that we've ever seen in craft beer comes courtesy of Mike Laba and Chris Goddard, the founders of Craft Brand Co., based out of Toronto, ON. What began as a craft beer import agency slowly morphed into a beast unto its own, securing sought-after international contracts with breweries like Omnipollo (Sweden), Mikkeller (Denmark) and Lervig (Norway) to brew onsite in Toronto for the Canadian market. Cee hung out with Mike and Chris to chat about their deep Ontario craft beer roots, how the agency began, they relayed some hilarious stories from their numerous beer trips around the globe and their philosophy on beer and their team. The fellas crushed some impeccable beers, including Omnipollo's Maz Oat Pale Ale, Omnipollo'z Zodiak NEIPA, Lervig's Back To The 90s India Red Ale, Omnipollo's Bianca Blueberry Maple Pancake Lassi Gose and ended on Omnipollo's Prodromus pastry stout (an exclusive beer for the Ontario market). This was an epic, 4-hour chat that's completely worth sticking around for. Cheers! Hop Forward: Getting You Ahead in the Brewing and Beer Business
Beer fans in the 21st century have never had it so good! Go onto Untappd and you'll find everything from the Pomegranate Berliner Weisse, Double Peach Candy Popcorn Sour, and Maple Bacon Coffee Porter, right through to a Macadamia White Chocolate Stout or the Yorkshire Pudding Best Bitter. And whenever - fill in the blank - brewery makes a DIPA with the sexy new hop variety or releases their barrel aged blended mixed ferms, you can guarantee without a shadow of a doubt that the Untappd massive will be pushing little old ladies out of the way just to be seen with the latest wax topped bomber. But why do beer styles and breweries like these command such reverence among a faithful few? Why are certain breweries upheld as the saviour’s of craft beer, while others - who make equally good if not better beers - not get a look in? And what makes one brewery seem more appealing and desirable over another? All the while, beers you drink rather than beers you experience, go quietly unnoticed, just… doing their thing. These are the accompaniment to conversations rather than the focus of it. It’s funny how there is a sense of frustration among many brewers surrounding hype beers. While on a deep, intrinsic level we all know that hype is just that - hype! - a vacuous here-today-gone-tomorrow, and yet somehow we still get sucked into its vortex. How do you separate the beers that are really worth celebrating from the noise? Because some breweries really are worth talking about. One brewer who has been around the block and witnessed this first hand is American Beau Schinner. Beau is a brewer at Norway’s

With everyone in lockdown these days and alcohol sales at an all time high, we thought it would be fun to check out a couple of the latest non-alcoholic offers on the market. We follow that with Omnipollo Ostkaka, a lingonberry, cheesecake sour pale ale.

In episode 133, Tony & Eddie get back (and also get back to basics). After some technically problems, 2 vacations and multiple IRL responsibilities the boys are hoping to be back on schedule and ready to keep giving you Cinefantics new content. This mini episode features a new beer from Erie Ale Works (and surprise, it's Tony that brought this one to the show and not Eddie!), and a new one from Lervig, a brewery in Norway. If you like a bitter hop or you're like Eddie and think it's always #StoutSeason, then check out this episode for some great brew reviews.

This week's featured artist is Nanna Guldbeak. We came to learn of her work through a recommendation from a former alum James Yeo. Nanna is the creative force behind Lervig where she brings their cans and branding to life with her unique art and designs. This world traveler is currently based in London (where we are posting this), but has a passport full of adventure and experiences that help her tell her stories and evolve the brand. A humble and fun guest with a great perspective and insight into her process.
Today’s guest is Nanna Guldbaek, Art Director for Norwegian brewery Lervig. Although Nanna just gradated from her Industrial Design program in Denmark last year, she didn’t wait until she finished university to get to work – balancing projects for uni while producing beer labels for Lervig. Nanna’s been working with Lervig for two years now, initially as a designer, then transitioning to her current role as Art Director. She tells us how she met the Lervig team and how social media played a hand in helping her get the job. You’ll hear her describe her artistic style, what she’s aiming to communicate through her designs – whether it’s a certain mood or feeling that a particular beer might evoke – and how important both the look and feel of the labels are to her… she considers every dimension and every detail. We also talk about what it’s like to collaborate with other designers, to work beyond the beer label – creating immersive rooms at beer festivals, for example – and about Nanna’s product design side-project… which also has to do with beer! Outside of her role at Lervig, Nanna is collaborating with two other industrial designers to turn spent grain – the byproduct from brewing – into a new, sustainable material, using different bio-binders. The project is still in its early days, but she talks us through the progress they’ve made and their future plans. We also talk about Nanna’s non-stop travel of late, her interest in exploring and meeting new people, and what she loves most about being a part of the beer industry. Here she is…

A Change Can Do You Good — Keeping a Brand Fresh in a Dynamic Market Host: Michael Kiser Guest Speakers: Nanna Guldbæk (Lervig), Nick Dwyer (Beavertown), Shaun O'Sullivan (21st Amendment) It still feels almost as though modern beer has only just arrived in the UK. The last decade has been a whirlwind, with once traditional and iconic beer brands being met by those with modern, vibrant and striking designs. Brewers really are putting the can in canvas. But how do you maintain a modern image in such a dynamic market, and why rebrand when drinkers have already put their stock in your existing brand?

The internet is all up in arms about the inclusion of a woman, a woman! in the new World War 2 set Battlefield V. We dig out the internet for it's absurdity. We've also got games. Ben's played 'What Remains of Edith Finch', Aadil's played 'Knights of Pen and Paper +1 edition' and Lucy gives us an Indie lightning round which includes 'A Case of Distrust', 'Homo Machina' and 'The Adventures of Elena Temple'. To drink Lucy has two beers from Dark Revolution including 'So:LA' and 'Supersonic'. Aadil sinks the Partizan 'Rowen Tree' and the Plain Porter from Porterhouse. Ben has the 'Liquid Sex Robot' from Lervig and 'The Great Cornholio' from Tiny Rebel.

Lucy, Aadil and Ben are casual gamers. It's true, don't try to defend them. Ben hates games and only likes casual educational experiences like the Assassin's Creed: Origins Discovery mode. Aadil hasn't touched a game in months but has been poking Zenge a mobile game, a mobile game! Uhh casual. Lucy's even worse, she's played two mobile games, two! Florence, which she really enjoyed and The Room: Old Sins, which she also enjoyed. So, beers. Aadil drinks Weird Beard 'Epsomania 17' and, from Birmingham Brewing the 'Confused Brummie' white stout. Ben drinks the 'Level Up: American Red' from Elusive Brewing and, from Plato, the 'Salish Sea' IPA. Lucy has another Sour IPA, so casual, from Buxton and Lervig, the 'Trolltunga' and another Weird Beard features this week, the 'God of the gold white silence' white stout. Pure casuals.

Ben and Aadil went on a little day trip to the Wiper and True tap room to sample some of their and some of Partizan Brewing's beers. This included the collaboration 'Smoking Jacket' Porter and the beer Ben drinks during the episode the 'Phantasmagoria' IPA from Wiper and True. Aadil starts the episode with the Whiplash 'Roll Over' session IPA. Whilst they were at the brewery they attempted to play Streets of Rage Classic and have thoughts on it. Discussion moves to the Rate Beer top 100 brewers of 2017 and Aadil has his second beer the Lervig, Cloudwater collaboration 'There's a cold beer in my fridge and I need a drink'. We finish on a game. Civilization 6.

That’s right, Ben is joined by Sam of Good Chemistry brewing and Steve, Dickie and Kit from Chance & Counters, a Bristol based board game cafe, and this is only part 1. It’s the biggest collaboration of the year! We chat all things Chance & Counters, who they are and what they do. We get into the beer they’ve brewed with Good Chemistry brewing and the LARP Halloween event they designed and are running at GC brewery this Halloween weekend 2017. There’s talk of Star Trek, artichoke hearts in Fallout, fresh IPAs and hazy beers, First Person Shooters and iteration and we delve a little into Dickie’s video gaming. We drink some beers, of course. We start with the Burning […]
