1960年代のブリティッシュ・インヴェイジョン期に活躍し、「She's Not There」「Tell Her No」「Time of the Season」などのヒット曲で知られています。 優れた作曲家: バンドの多くの楽曲を作曲しており、「She's Not There」「Time of the Season」といった代表曲を手掛けています。3.
In their first ever feature documentary nearly sixty years after they met as teenagers before the British Invasion music scene, THE ZOMBIES tell their story of navigating the tumultuous music industry over the decades and making one of the most influential albums of all time, Odessey and Oracle. "She's Not There" made them the first British band after The Beatles to reach #1 in the US. After years of touring and many missteps in the 60s, sadly the band missed out on their biggest moment yet, when "Time of the Season" hit #1 and became a global success, inspiring new generations each year. The band looks back on their journey, where true friendship led them to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Here is Part 2 of my in-depth interview with Lucie Morton where we continue to discuss the differences between Norton and Cynthiana grapes. We also cover her attempt to reclaim another Virginia native grape, Cunningham which one of her familial ancestors is connected to here in Virginia. Finally, Lucie will describe her proverbial Ah Ha moment when she decided that she would produce her upcoming documentary film titled "Odessey of Forbidden wines, exile and return of American grapes." This interview is packed with many more insightful comments and history from Lucie and is a fitting last episode in my All About Virginia Norton podcast series. Lucie Morton is the World's most preeminent Ampelographer, if not the only one still living that practices this art in the wine industry. I know, you are asking yourself what is Ampelography? Well, Lucie will explain that in some detail in this episode. In fact, this interview was filled with so many insights that I have chosen to break it up into 2 parts. In Part 1 we touch on many areas of winegrowing with a focus on American Heritage grapes and their demise and rediscovering. One of which, the Cunningham Grape, another Virginia native grape Lucie is in the process of recovering, it is going through the quarantine requirements, and her nephew plans to plant it on their original family farm on the banks of the Potomac River in King George County, Virginia.Lucie is also in the process of producing a film called the Odessey of Forbidden Wines, Exile and return of American grapes. We will discuss that in detail in Part 2. I could go on about Lucie's many accomplishments, but I will let the Episode speak to it instead. Enjoy the listening. You will be as fascinated as I am every time I engage Lucie in a discussion about winegrowing. Thanks for being a listener to the Fine Wine Confidential Podcast. In this episode, Scott sits down with the legendary Colin Blunstone, co-founder and lead singer of The Zombies, to discuss his incredible life and career. On a previous podcast episode of LEGENDS: Podcast by All Day Vinyl with my guest, Zombies co-founder Rod Argent, we discussed the early days of The Zombies up through the recording of their masterpiece "Odessey and Oracle." Another focus of this chat is Colin's excellent solo output in the early 1970's and we dive deep into the albums "One Year" and "Ennismore" as well as Colin's work with Alan Parsons Project. Colin also opens up about Rod Argent's 2024 health scare and the impact on the band's future, the intriguing saga of the fake Zombies in the late 60's that featured members of ZZ Top, and his latest EP, "Less Is More." Colin Blunstone is best known as the lead vocalist of the iconic British rock band The Zombies. Formed in the early 1960s, The Zombies became pioneers of the British Invasion, with Blunstone's distinctively ethereal and breathy vocals shaping the band's unique sound. The group achieved international fame with hits like "She's Not There" and "Time of the Season," and their 1968 album Odessey and Oracle is now regarded as a masterpiece of psychedelic pop. However, after the initial commercial success, The Zombies disbanded in 1968, and Blunstone embarked on a solo career. To watch this podcast and many more interviews please go towww.popthehistorymakers.comBlunstone's solo work, beginning with his 1971 album One Year, showcases his velvety voice in a more introspective, orchestral-pop context. His early solo singles, including "Say You Don't Mind" and "I Don't Believe in Miracles," were well-received, blending soft rock with lush arrangements. Over the decades, Blunstone has maintained a steady presence in the music world, collaborating with artists like Alan Parsons and contributing to the reformation of The Zombies in the 2000s, where he continues to perform and record with the band.photo (c) Alex Lake Hosted on Acast. When you hear Dr. Fruchtenbaum tell of his journey from Poland to Siberia, to Poland, to Germany, to the United States, you will see that it was truly an epic geographical shift that led him to a greater spiritual shift from Judaism to Christianity. This did not please his Hasidic parents so they kicked him out of the house. But God put Arnold on a path to a Bible education and eventually the founding of Ariel Ministries which shares the gospel and issues of Messianic importance with Jewish people. You can find out more about Dr. Fructenbaum and Ariel Ministries at https://www.Ariel.org.
Look, up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's the Gobbledygeek season 15 premiere! Breaking from vaguely defined tradition, Paul and Arlo are kicking off the season with a Four-Color Flashback, and their pal Eric Sipple is on hand to help turn the pages. Arlo has chosen to subject Paul and Eric to the classic Jeph Loeb/Tim Sale collab Superman for All Seasons, which may prove a tough sell to a couple of Super-skeptics. The gang discusses the book's Rockwell-influenced aesthetic, the simplicity (or flatness, depending on taste) of the cast, how Sale's big dopey Superman conveys Clark Kent's decency, and the surprising love triangle at the book's core. Plus, Arlo explains the very personal reasons he chose this book to start the season. You'll believe a man can cry. NEXT: introducing our That Was Then series, wherein Paul and Arlo will be taking a look at various movies that are celebrating anniversaries in 2024. In 1970 Avon Books published a landmark anthology “Science Fiction Hall of Fame” featuring 16 classic short stories that represent landmark tales of the genre. The stories were voted on by the members of the new (at the time in the late 60s) organization Science Fiction Writers of America. In this series, I will be joined by a panel of different guests to break down these stories and talk about the authors in the book. In this episode, I am joined by two returning guests. First up is the Hugo award-winning fan writer Cora Buhlert who knows her Science Fiction. Steve Davison is the current owner and publisher of one of the longest-running Science Fiction magazines Amazing Stories. Because this is the first episode we talk a lot about the make-up of the book and the process editor Robert Silverberg used to put the book together. The story we are covering is the 1934 classic “A Martian Odessey by Stanley G. Weinbaum. This story is considered a game-changer that changed Science Fiction forever. The Zombies are rock royalty. Their album, Odessey and Oracle is a classic. And, unlike some of their contemporaries, they're still making quality new music. We talked with lead singed Colin Blunstone about the long saga of the band and what they've been up to now. (Hint: It involves getting their masters back.)For more information, you can follow The Zombies on Facebook, or you can check out their website.

On today's episode, I talk to musician Rod Argent. Originally from St. Albans, Rod became the founder, keyboard player and one of the principal songwriters of the seminal 1960s British rock band The Zombies at the age of 16. While the band only stayed together a little more than half a decade, they became international stars, and their final album Odessey and Oracle is both one of the most acclaimed albums of the 1960s and of all time. After The Zombies broke up, Rod formed the brilliant prog band Argent, which played through the mid-70s, and since then, Rod has recorded ten albums under his own name. While The Zombies have reformed here and there, in 2004, they began to record music together again, and their latest album Different Game was just released in March this year, and like everything the band does, it is a real delight! The Zombies - from St Albans, Hertfordshire – were one of the most interesting British bands of the 1960s. Their second record, Odessey and Oracle, remains as beguiling now as it did when it was released in 1968, as the group imploded. The spelling mistake in the title is symbolic of the group's legacy; spoiled brilliance. And yet all these years on – over half a century – the group is revered, and celebrated, in the way they perhaps always should have been. How did that happen then? Maybe there is hope for my long defunct teenage indie rock band after all. An active concern since the band regrouped some twenty odd years ago, on March 31st, The Zombies – featuring founding keyboardist Rod Argent and singer Colin Blunstone - release a new record, Different Game, on Cooking Vinyl. There's a UK tour to follow as well. I was lucky enough to get some time with Colin to talk about all of the above – and a whole lot more too... We're back, baby! After a longer than expected hiatus, Gobbledygeek has returned for season 14. That's right, we're up to 14 seasons of Paul and Arlo babbling on about any manner of nonsense–which they continue to do in this freestyle season premiere. 2023 has come in like a lion and is likely to go out like one, so we find our boys licking their wounds, recounting the real-life horrors that delayed their return to the mic, and generally complaining about everything. Including pop culture! Lest you forget that's what they're here for, Paul and Arlo sauté some thoughts on the mushroom apocalypse of HBO's The Last of Us adaptation; rave about the movies they've caught up with, like The Fabelmans, RRR, and Aftersun; and decide to get high-brow by reading books that don't have any pictures. Plus, a pitch for the inevitable Gobbledygeek TV series. NEXT: okay, but we really like books that do have pictures in them. This year's Four-Color Flashback series kicks off with Al Ewing and Simone Di Meo's We Only Find Them When They're Dead. MUSIC “At Last” by Etta James, At Last! I'm delighted to be joined by musician, singer, songwriter, composer, and record producer - Rod Argent. In a career spanning more than 50 years, Rod is the keyboardist, founder and leader of the English rock band The Zombies. Their second album Odessey and Oracle is often mentioned by Paul Weller as his all time favourite. Rod has had an incredible career - continuing to perform live and release new music with The Zombies - he was also once part of Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band and has recorded with The Who, Chris Rea, Roger Daltrey, Paul Carrack and Andrew Lloyd Webber. He's also been producer for the likes of Gilbert O'Sullivan, Tanita Tikaram and Nanci Griffith. In 2018, Paul Weller released his 14th solo album True Meanings, with Rod Argent contributing to two stand out tracks (on an album full of stand out tracks!) - he plays Hammond organ on The Soul Searchers and Mellotron & Piano on White Horses. You can find more info on Rod's music in my show notes at paulwellerfanpodcast.com/episode-92-rod-argent Thanks for listening - make sure that you subscribe / follow and leave a review - and if you want to support the podcast financially, you can buy me a virtual coffee (£3) or our new official merchandise at paulwellerfanpodcast.com/store
Introducing Colin Blunstone, founder and singer/songwriter of the seminal British rock band of the 60s, The Zombies. Hits like "She's not there", "Tell her no", and "I love you" can be heard every day on numerous platforms, and their album "Odessey and Oracle" is considered by many to be one of the the best rock albums of all time.
Colin Blunstone has one of the sweetest, most distinct voices in rock, yet his band, the Zombies, has a bizarre history. It broke through with “She's Not There” and “Tell Her No,” then went three years before the release of its second album, the masterful Odessey and Oracle. By then the Zombies had split, and when “Time of the Season” became a hit almost a year later, fake versions of the band, including one featuring members of a soon-to-be-famous group, toured the U.S. Now Blunstone and songwriter/keyboardist Rod Argent are Zombies again, and in a lively, good-humored conversation, Blunstone recounts his spat with Argent over "Time of the Season" and a rollercoaster career that led to a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
The Zombies were part of the “British invasion” movement of the 1960s and enjoyed some major success for a short period before they broke up after only a few years. But the band's acclaimed 1968 album Odessey and Oracle is considered to be one of the greatest albums ever recorded and hits like “She's Not There,” Tell Her No,” and “Time of the Season” remain all time classics. Rod formed a new band called Argent, which hit big in 1972 with “Hold Your Head Up.” Colin released three solo albums, co-produced by Rod, in the early 1970s. Around 2000, Colin and Rod resurrected The Zombies, ultimately reuniting with the remaining original band members. Their sixth studio album, 2015's Still Got That Hunger, revived public interest in the band and even led to Odessey and Oracle re-entering the Billboard 100 – nearly 50 years after the album's release. In 2017, The Zombies went on an Odessey and Oracle tour, performing for a multi-generational fanbase, and in 2019, they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
