Today, Ali and Asif interview award winning screenwriter Ramona Barkert (‘Degrassi', ‘The Hardy Boys', ‘Wynona Earp') about how one gets into screenwriting, the creative process and how “writers rooms” function (0:54). They discuss the term “showrunner” and what the duties of that position entail. Ramona then goes over how one writes a season of television, individual episodes and even individual scenes. Although Ramona is not a member of the Writers Guild of America, she then gives an outsiders view on the recent writers strike in the USA (33:36). They talk about the differences between screenwriting in the US and Canada and what the main issues are in the WGA strike. They then discuss about how some shows are still in production and how projects that continued in production during the last writer's strike ended up as less than successful (ie ‘Quantum of Solace'). Finally Ramona and the guys discuss the issue of AI in screenwriting. The opinions expressed are those of the hosts, and do not reflect those of any other organizations. Actor Charles Andrew Payne has a vast resume. One of his proudest roles is Pastor Bruce Barnes in the feature film LEFT BEHIND: RISE OF THE ANTICHRIST. Pastor Barnes is the bedrock of the story, a man torn between the faith he professes and what he believes. His family is taken in the rapture, but he has been left behind. Charles also narrates the film as his character Pastor Barnes. Past television series and feature films include Miracle In East Texas where Charles played Reverend Reece. He had the role of Jock on the television series Wynona Earp and the role of Darryl in The Surrogate While living in Vancouver one of the roles he most enjoyed was playing Breeze on MacGyver with Richard Dean Anderson and worked with Richard again on Stargate. He had the pleasure of working with Johnny Depp on 21 Jump Street in one of his earlier TV roles. He also worked with Kevin Sorbo on Andromeda and Miracle in East Texas. He joined both Pam Grier and Snoop Dog on The L – Word. A fun fact is that Charles often gets mistaken for Samuel L Jackson. People get mad when he tells them “I'm not him”. Considering Samuel is 20-plus years older and taller, “I think it will be a great day when he gets mistaken for me, then I'll know I've made it.” add Charles. LEFT BEHIND: RISE OF THE ANTICHRIST is coming to theaters nationwide beginning Thursday, January 26. Charles joins a stellar cast. Starring Kevin Sorbo (GOD'S NOT DEAD, SOUL SURFER), Neal McDonough (MINORITY REPORT, “Arrow,” TIMELINE), Corbin Bernsen (“Psych,” MAJOR LEAGUE, “The Resident”), Bailey Chase (“Longmire,” “Saving Grace”), Greg Perrow (ACTOR FOR HIRE, THOSE WHO KILL), Sarah Fisher (“Degrassi: The Next Generation,” ROXY) and Sam Sorbo (LET THERE BE LIGHT, HOPE BRIDGE, MIRACLE IN EAST TEXAS), LEFT BEHIND: RISE OF THE ANTICHRIST is the next chapter of the mega-hit LEFT BEHIND film franchise, based on the 80 million-copy New York Times bestselling book series of the same name. Bosom friends, we are here with Megan Follows. You Might Know Her From Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea, Wynona Earp, Heartland, The Facts of Life, Hockey Night, Shania: A Life in Eight Albums, and Reign. We also chatted with Megan about Anne and Diana's friendship through the queer lens, LM's personal diaries and alleged dalliance with a female fan, growing up in a theatrical family in Canada, plotting murders and rapes as Catherine de Medici on the CW series Reign, and playing Jo's cousin on a potential Facts of Life spin-off. On this episode we have a very special guest. You may know Reagan Pasternak from her roles in Movies and TV shows (Wynona Earp, Sharp Objects, and Being Erica to name a few). Now she is taking on a new role, the role of Author. Reagan has written a book about mourning the loss of a pet. After a personal journey that she went through after losing her cat Griffin, Reagan was compelled to write about her experience in order to tell her story and to help people who are in the same situation. I found her book to be informative and a good read. Although I personally was not mourning the loss of a pet, I feel the concepts and strategies that she discusses in her book pertain to all types of grief. I hope you enjoy the episode. If you'd like to check out the book, it is available at Amazon here

This episode starts off going downhill fast! Tamara tells the story of how when she learned her friend didn't like the word girth in a similar way that other folks don't like the word moist, well she couldn't stop saying it. Rheannon had a trip to the westside take a turn when edibles got involved. Well less the edibles and more the copious amounts of food that were ordered through Post Mates. Tamara and Rheannon go on a tangent of movie characters and tv shows. Tamara is then very rude and only half listens to a story from Rheannon about bathroom stalls due to her concern for some research she was in the middle of about beets. And yes, googling while podcasting is probably not the best idea. Then finally there is still one ton of snow and everyone is pretty upset about it.

As we continue our reviews, we stumbled upon Wynona Earp, the SyFy series based on the comic book by Beau Smith. Somewhere in the Canadian Rockies, Wynona fights and defends her hometown of Purgatory against demons that have risen up and […] The post Two Nerdy Black Guys: Wynona Earp Season 1 Review appeared first on Delta Juliet Mike Media.
Wynonna Earp Andi and Lise rave like crazy women over the TV show Wynonna Earp, which is the absolute awesome and Andi is pleased that she managed to totally peer pressure Lise to turn her into an Earper. Synopsis, as quoted from SyFy: “Wynonna Earp follows Wyatt Earp's great granddaughter as she battles demons and other creatures. With her unique abilities, and a posse of dysfunctional allies, she's the only thing that can bring the paranormal to justice.’ What that synopsis doesn’t tell you is that this show is full of women’s and feminist badassery, a F/F relationship, and explorations of relationships between all the characters, and that’s no doubt due to showrunner/show developer Emily Andras, also of Lost Girl fame. So that should give you an idea that there is awesome throughout this show, and Andi and Lise STRONGLY recommend it. Also, Andi is doing Season 2 recaps at her personal blog.
