Andrew opens the show reacting to the Phillies' 5-3 win over the Diamondbacks and Kyle Schwarber's leadoff HR setting the tone to take a 1-0 series lead in the NLCS (0:05-10:38). Andrew gets Ray's reaction to the Phillies win last night, as he took in the game from Xfinity Live but didn't have the same confidence level as Andrew at the end of the game. Andrew then goes to the phones to get you reaction to last night's win (10:38-32:26). Loree Jones, Chief Executive Director of Philabundance discussed hunger in the Delaware Valley.  The area's largest food pantry supplier, they are seeing hunger rising, today 17% of our children and one in ten people are food insecure.   Philabundance collects food, through donations, restaurants and groceries, produce suppliers and others to distribute to over 600 area pantries.  Their operating mission is to provide nutritious food to all, culturally responsive to the communities, equitably sourced from businesses that are diverse and that reflect their values, and accessible through local organizations within the community.  Loree points out that it's all for nothing if its food that people don't want or they can't get to.    She discussed the hunger calendar, lots of food comes in during the holidays, but hunger is year-round and many children are going without meals when school is not in session.  She talked about their latest initiative, ‘Let's Eat' that delivered meal boxes to their homes.     Recognizing that hunger is a vicious circle, Philabundance not only works to alleviate hunger today, but also toward ‘Ending Hunger. For Good' with partnerships that can offer services to help break the cycle of poverty and end hunger for good.  Financial literacy, health services, Housing and job training programming helps families become self-sufficient.  Philabundance itself has a kitchen program that teaches knife skills and job skills, its graduates leave with their Safe Serve certification and a 80+% job placement.  Students operate a Philabundance catering facility, it's available for both hosting onsite and to cater outside events.   While hiring catering is an easy way to get involved, she hopes we will also donate and volunteer.  Individuals and businesses can host food drives or raise cash through ‘virtual' food drives.  She points out that with their buying power a cash donation goes much further.  Volunteers are also needed to sort, box food and transport collected food.   We talked about the annual Camp Out for Hunger, the nation's largest single location food drive, November 7th through the 11th at Xfinity Live at the Sports Complex.  Free parking and events every day are offered, including a carnival mid-way, live entertainment, a Wednesday night food truck and fireworks party, celebrity guests and stunts hosted by Beasley Media Group WMMR.   The event kicks off Sunday, November 6th with a ‘Fill a Trunk' car show, local car clubs and collectors will bring donations to the site for a rally.  Businesses and individual are encouraged to donate through Camp Out, onsite or online.  For more information about Philabundance go to philabundance.org

From the Children's Tumor Foundation, Simon Vukeli, Chief Marketing Officer, and Volunteer and Philly Cupid's Undie Run Race Director, Sandy Frenia, discussed Neurofibromatosis (NF), a chronic disease in which benign tumors grow into the patient's nerves.  Depending on the severity, it can be undiagnosed until late in life or cause serious complications such as seizures, blindness, deafness, immobility or other impairments.  In some cases, it can lead to rare cancers.  The disease is genetic and that is why the Foundation became the Children's Tumor Foundation, you are born with it, 1 in 3,000 births.   Diagnosis comes from tell-tale birthmarks or through developing symptoms.   The Foundation directly funds research, referrals and hosts the world's largest NF Conference.   Looking to raise money volunteers created the Cupid‘s Undie Run, a ‘brief' fun run that happens in the middle of a party.  In Philadelphia, it will be Saturday, February 19 at Xfinity Live!  Guests wear their ‘Bedroom Best' to help fund the research for a cure, better treatment, and education programs. The 21st Annual XTU Toy Truck Parade is happening on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the Xfinity Live Parking lot in South Philly.  This year, it will be a little different.  Since Covid-19 will not us allow us to have large gatherings, we are going to do a Toy Truck Drive-Thru.  XTU will be on site at the Xfinity Live parking lot between 8am-1pm.  You can decorate your truck/vehicle, and make your way down to Xfinity Live.  We will still judge the best decorated trucks and award them a prize at a later time.  You can pull into the lot,  drop off your donation, take a photo, and then be on your way. We wish we could hold a huge parade like in year's past but with the pandemic happening, we just can't risk our listeners and staff's health and safety.
