The Dauphin County's Drug and Alcohol Services is hosting its first annual ‘Youth Summer Sports Fest'. It began in June, and will continue every Wednesday until August 14 from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. Basketball, soccer, volleyball, and other outdoor activities will be held at local parks around Harrisburg giving young people a positive alternative activity to take part in while school is out. “So, with prevention, you know, what we try to do is provide as many alternatives to risky behaviors, basically. So, we know that kids, you know, when they don't have much to do or they have a lot of downtime, they might be more inclined to participate in something that might not be the healthiest choice for them. So instead, if we can provide different activities and experiences for kids to get together to connect with their peers, and to basically fill their time with something other than something dangerous, then that is why we're trying to do this, “said Lauren Krebs, Prevention Program supervisor at the Dauphin County Drug and Alcohol Services. The games will be held at these times and locations: July 17 Volleyball at City Island (Skyline)—noon to 2 pm July 24 Soccer at City Island Skyline Soccer Complex—noon to 2 pm July 31 Basketball at 7th and Radnor—noon to 2 pm August 7 Basketball at 7th and Radnor—noon to 2 pm August 14 Basketball at 7th and Radnor –noon to 2 pm      Support WITF: https://www.witf.org/support/give-now/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Kevin Baxter has always enjoyed the taste of pickles, and noticed how popular pickles have been trending in more recent years.  So, he founded a festival that fans of the brined cucumbers could relish in: The Big Dill Pickle Festival!  Since its inception in 2019, The Big Dill has blossomed into the worlds largest pickle party, with visitors traveling from across the globe to attend.  Kevin joined us to give us the 4-1-1 about this year's festivities happening on June 15th at Xfinity Live in Philadelphia.  To hear all about the festival, along with where to buy tickets, tune in to Food Farms and Chefs! Our next guest, Shayna Minuto, gained a strong knowledge of running an Italian-based cuisine while working in her father's restaurant.  After graduating college, Shayna found herself drawn further into the industry, and eventually opened her own concept, Hold My Knots, inside the Gansevoort Market in the Meatpacking District of NYC. After finding increasing success, they crossed the bridge into New Jersey, taking over ownership of her father's restaurant to establish a permanent location for Hold My Knots in Bergen County.  Now, Hold My Knots is looking to expand their brand's locations and available Food Trucks to spread the joy of their menu options for carboholics (including GF options) to more areas. We love the combination of food, beverages, and fun! So, we brought Lee Leung (Regional General Manager of Fearless Restaurants) on to help celebrate their Spring menu options, the Kentucky Derby and other special events, and new openings under their restaurant group!  Lee also grew up inside her parent's restaurants, and was drawn back into the culinary world after graduating college.  Soon after graduating, she began working for restaurant groups with recognizable names.  Today, you can find her making all the events at Fearless Restaurant Group's Autograph Brasserie, Triple Crown in Radnor, and Rosalie a delicious and memorable experience!

"When I write songs, I put on a miner's light and try to make it around the next corner."Josh Radnor found fame playing Ted Mosby on "How I Met Your Mother," but he's also a terrific songwriter (and stage actor) with a new album Eulogy: Volume 1. Radnor stops by the podcast as we take a deep dive into his songwriting process. We talk about how his creative process as an actor intersects with his songwriting process, why he often starts with a lyrical idea  and not a melody, and why procrastination can be a very good thing. Oh, and how food poisoning can give rise to a great song.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Josh Radnor over Zoom video!Singer-songwriter, actor, writer and director Josh Radnor has shared his new single “Learning,” a meditative exploration into embracing one's full range of emotions as a testament to true vulnerability. The new single will appear on Eulogy: Volume I, due out November 17 as the first installment in his double-album solo debut Eulogy: Volume I + II. Radnor spoke with People about “Learning” and his upcoming album, which they hailed as “an instructional booklet of sorts put to the sound of beautiful music.” Additionally, today he appeared on LIVE with Kelly and Mark to perform the new single and discuss his music career.“‘Learning' is my favorite song that Kyle Cox and I wrote together,” shares Radnor. “I think a lot of adults, especially men, have to do a kind of remedial class in the emotions they were once taught were weak and inappropriate to feel, namely loneliness, fear, and sadness. This is a song about reclaiming the right to feel the full range of feelings.”“Learning” follows the “devastatingly intimate” (Paste) “NYC” and rebellious lead album single “Red,” which Entertainment Weekly praised, noting, “Josh Radnor has taken his heartache and turned it into a milestone in his music career.” Produced and engineered by Radnor's Nashville friends Jeremiah Dunlap, Cory Quintard, and Kyle Cox, Eulogy: Volume I exudes the unquestionable sturdiness of timeless, storytelling-driven Americana, boasting anthemic melodies laced with electronic elements and idiosyncratic twists. Many of the songs on the album serve as goodbyes of sorts: a letting go of people, places, emotions, and ideas.Throughout Eulogy: Volume I, Radnor's grounded and intimate songwriting style blends the timeless art of existential questioning with relatable, down-to-earth narratives. Backed by sometimes rowdy, sometimes sparse instrumentation, there's an alluring sense of vulnerability woven throughout the album, each track well-attuned to the emotion that sparked its creation.Songwriting is nothing new to Radnor, who began making music in 2013 with friend and celebrated Aussie artist, Ben Lee. The pair released two albums as Radnor & Lee – a self-titled debut in 2017, followed by sophomore album Golden State in 2020. Then, in 2021, he dropped his debut solo EP, titled One More Then I'll Let You Go, which was praised by American Songwriter for its “clever craftsmanship” and “certain purity.”We want to hear from you! Description: In this episode, I am speaking with the legendary Fritz Coleman who went from being the weathercaster for NBC in Los Angeles from 1982 to 2020 to co-hosting Media Path Podcast with Louise Palanker in 2020. Fritz has an inspiring story to tell that you need to hear. This is from his Wikipedia page: After growing up in Radnor, Pennsylvania, he attended Salem University in West Virginia and Temple University in Philadelphia where he studied radio, television, and film. Like many popular weather anchors, he serves as a reporter instead of a meteorologist since he doesn't have a degree in meteorology. He worked as a comedian and disc jockey for several years and as radio personality "Jay Fredericks" at WBEN and later WKBW in Buffalo, New York. He left Buffalo for Los Angeles in 1980 to work as a stand-up comic. In 1982, he began work as a weekend weatherman at KNBC and became the weekday weatherman in 1984. He also hosted or appeared on a number of other KNBC shows, such as "It's Fritz" (1988-1990) and "What a Week" (1990 – 1991). He has written and performed two one-man theater acts, titled The Reception and It's Me! Dad! He received the 2004 EMA Community Service Award for his involvement with KNBC's 4 Our Planet, a children's program. He appeared in a supporting role in one of Raymond Burr's last Perry Mason television films, The Case of the Telltale Talk Show Host, in 1993. He received a "thanks" credit on the film Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie, an "alternate film" companion to Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. From 2009 to 2011, Coleman also did the weekday weather (in addition to KNBC) for San Diego's NBC affiliate, KNSD. On June 17, 2020, Coleman announced that he would retire on Friday, June 26 after almost 40 years at KNBC. I think you will find Fritz's story quite entertaining and more importantly inspiring. Josh Radnor's career has spanned television (HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, HUNTERS), Broadway (DISGRACED, THE BABYLON LINE), film (HAPPYTHANKYOUMOREPLEASE, LIBERAL ARTS), and music, recording both as a solo arist and part of the duo RADNOR & LEE. On this week's episode of ARTS EDUCATORS SAVE THE WORLD, Josh links all these forms of storytelling back to his graduate education at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and, specifically, to his singing teacher, Deb Lapidus, who inspired him -- and us -- with her wisdom. She tells us "I think that the idea of 'getting it right' is the thing that can really limit people as they are trying to do their work. For me the only way to 'fail' is to not try."
