This is the show that digs into the archives and gives you a comprehensive review of classic MMA events, that span as far back as UFC 1. Join Eddie Mercado & Victor Rodriguez of Bloody Elbow as they relive this Pay-Per-View event this week, complete with results, analysis, and of course a few laughs. On April 11th, 2008, YAMMA Pit Fighting 1, “2 Masters Superfights”, an eleven-fight card, with only four finishes on a card full of decisions, went down from the infamous Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersy. This was a Pay-Per-View Cable event at the time, which advertised “The Return of ‘The Russian Bear’ Oleg Taktarov and a +8-Man Heavyweight Tournament to Crown the YAMMA Heavyweight Champion”. So, the main event that night showcased Heavyweights, Travis ‘Diesel’ Wiuff, who went undefeated to take the crown that night winning three bouts during the tournament against, Marcelo Donald Pereira, Ricco Rodriguez and winning the Championship via Decision in the main event, which ended up with him going up against Chris ‘The Crowbar’ Tuchscherer, who had made it to the bout by defeating Tony Sylvester and Alexey Oleinik that night. As an Associate Professor of Biostatistics, Dr. Carmen Tekwe got her wake up call in 2014 but she didn’t listen to the first call. She kept going. She was still meditating and practicing yoga, doing all the right things, and the call came again.   This conversation will wake up sometime inside of you I’m certain. It did me and I feel like I live consciously and healthy - not perfect but I do my best. As the month of March and the observance of Women's History Month draws to a close, we sit down with Dr. Yamma Brown, the youngest daughter born to James Brown, the late Godfather of Soul. Brown works as a pharmacist and has partnered with Kaiser Permanente to bring their mobile health unit to Imhotep Elementary Saturday for a health fair. Our conversation goes deeper i.e. being the daughter of a global celebrity, losing a parent and a spouse in less than 5 years; surviving domestic violence and more. We also learned that Dr. Brown was not gifted with her father's talent for song and dance.

She talks about the film,  “Get On Up” the new James Brown bio-pic the family’s reaction to it, her father’s legacy. ------. Portside Article: James Brown belongs to us, the black masses, and for us to be excluded from the creative team that made this movie is an obscenity. I'm aware that Spike Lee was involved briefly. James Brown was a civil rights icon. Put James in the pantheon of the most impactful black men of the 20th century, and he would not be out of place. How can I make such an assertion? One song: "I'm Black and I'm Proud." Before that song, if you wanted to start a fight with a man of color, all one had to do was call him black. Up until the mid-sixties, we were trying define ourselves: not colored anymore, now Negro. But black was not something we called ourselves. And along comes this little man and proudly states, "I'm black and I'm proud!" He took the thing that the oppressor used to bludgeon us and made it a weapon of pride for us.
