In the Spring of 2016 a 27 year old scholar, Yingying Zhang, flies over from China to start a new life, to undertake PHD in the University of Illinois. Excited to start a new life and study in the USA, Yingying wasn't aware of the dangers lurking in this American college.
The film introduces viewers to Yingying through personal writings and shows the toll her death has taken on her family and friends. We talk with the director. Research shows family doctors in rural parts of Illinois are often more trusted by their patients than public health officials. That makes them even more important in dealing with one of the most vaccine-hesitant groups. Those stories and more on this episode of Statewide.

On one hand, they want to give their child the freedom to determine their own fate but on the other hand, it can be a very scary experience, knowing that your child is so far away from home. In the summer of 1984, a small fire broke out along a California highway. A driver pulled off the road to get a closer look at the blaze, but that closer look brought more questions than answers. What the hell was that awful smell? Soon, another driver arrived on the scene. He used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames. Once the smoke cleared, the two drivers made a disturbing discovery -- a burnt human body. Investigators learned that the body belonged to a woman -- and that she’d sustained multiple injuries over her lifetime. But it would take them years to discover who that woman was, and who had tortured her. Then Kristin tells us about a bright, talented young woman whose life was cut short by a total dirtbag. Yingying Zhang was beyond smart. Originally from Nanping, China, she attended one of the nation’s top universities. When it came time to earn her doctorate, she headed off to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She had only been in the United States for a few weeks when she suddenly went missing. And now for a note about our process. For each episode, Kristin reads a bunch of articles, then spits them back out in her very limited vocabulary. Brandi copies and pastes from the best sources on the web. And sometimes Wikipedia. (No shade, Wikipedia. We love you.) We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the real experts who covered these cases. In this episode, Kristin pulled from: “Undercover girlfriend” episode of 20/20 “The Kidnapping and murder of YingyingZhang” entry on wikipedia “Prosecutor: Suspect in Chinese student’s kidnapping discussed ‘ideal victim’” by Kaylee Hartung, Janet DiGiacomo and Darran Simon for CNN.com “In opening statement, attorney admits Brendt Christensen abducted, killed Chinese scholar at University of Illinois,” by Jamie Munks for the Chicago Tribune “Guilty: Brendt Christensen found guilty in Yingying Zhang’s kidnapping, killing,” wandtv.com In this episode, Brandi pulled from: “Mother Knows Best: The Story of Theresa Jimmie Cross” by David Lohr, Crime Library “‘Unbelievable’ Tale Reveals Grisly Crimes” by Richard C. Episode #9 On June 9th, 2017, Yingying Zhang was traveling on the University of Illinois campus in Urbana, Illinois. At 2pm, security cameras across the street captured a black Saturn Astra drive slowly down the street past Yingying, as she waited at a bus stop. 3 minutes later, at 2:03pm, the same black Saturn Astra, with a moonroof and cracked hubcap drown down the street again, this time stopping in front of the bus stop. Yingying appeared to engage in conversation with the driver for a minute, then appeared to willingly get into the car. The black saturn drove out of camera view, and Yingying was never seen again. 【公众号】铁蛋英语 【微博】铁蛋儿TylerARTICLEA website that hosted an "Abduction 101" forum linked to a 28-year-old suspect in the kidnapping of a Chinese scholar at the University of Illinois bills itself as the most popular sexual fetish networking site on the internet — and it has faced pressure in recent months to be clearer about not tolerating behavior that could be regarded as criminal.Brendt Allen Christensen, who earned a master's degree in physics from U of I this year, is charged in the June 9 abduction of 26-year-old Yingying Zhang, who investigators believe to be dead. The federal complaint says Christensen's phone was used on April 19 to visit the FetLife.com forum, including to view threads titled "Perfect abduction fantasy" and "planning a kidnapping."Christensen remains jailed and is due to make an initial appearance Monday in federal court in Urbana, not far from the University of Illinois campus where Zhang conducted research in agricultural sciences. Christensen, who is from neighboring Champaign, was arrested Friday after agents monitoring him heard him tell someone he had kidnapped Zhang and held her against her will.KEY WORDSabduct绑架forum论坛suspect犯罪嫌疑人kidnap绑架fetish恋物癖tolerate容忍investigator调查员fantasy幻想against someones will有人会反对https://www.yahoo.com/news/website-illinois-kidnap-case-still-advises-abductions-192427537.htmlHOMEWORK- Do you guys think that websites like this should be allowed?
