Here are the 3 Big things you need to know this hour— Number One— Party City is pulling the plug on some 700 stores around the country—and the closings are apparently to take effect immediately—I guess they may not even have going out of business sales— Number Two— The Drones are still flying and the government is still lying—they just have no idea what is going they keep claiming—which of course none of us actually believe—now a New York Senator is weighing in— Number Three— The brutal murder at the hands of an illegal alien in New York City—is just the latest warning about how bad things have gotten in this country—
On the first day of our Seventh Annual "12 Nightmares Before Christmas," we are heading just north of us to Fairfield, Iowa. On November 2, 2021, the community of Fairfield, Iowa, was devastated when beloved Spanish teacher Nohema Graber, 66, went missing. She hadn't been heard from since she set out for her daily walk in Chautauqua Park. Just one day later, on November 3, her badly beaten body was discovered—mere hours after she was reported missing. Authorities found her remains concealed beneath a tarp, a wheelbarrow, and railroad ties. The police confirmed that Graber had suffered significant trauma to the head. This cruel act shattered the peace of a close-knit community, leaving residents not only devastated but grappling with a haunting question: what could drive someone to commit such an unthinkable act of violence? The answer would emerge just days later, but the age of the perpetrators and the motive behind their actions would leave the community speechless.Join Cam and Jen of Our True Crime Podcast to discuss “The Brutal Murder of Nohema Graber.”Special thank you to Abby Stout, who suggested this case to us. Sagay City, located in the northern part of the province of Negros Occidental, is a significant hub for agriculture resources, where its local community is deeply connected. Historically, Sagay has been a major player in the sugar industry, which is a significant economic driver in the province. However, despite economic gains from the sugar plantations in Sagay, most of its farmers and plantation workers are being treated poorly by greedy land owners and land grabbers, some of which are influential and are supported by some local politicians or possibly even nationwide-elected leaders. The poor treatment received by sugar farmers in Sagay is just an understatement. Some of those who stand up and fight for their rights against these greedy influential land owners are often getting brutally punished and some are getting killed. On the evening of October 20, 2018, nine farmers of the National Federation of Sugar Workers, which included four women and two minors, were having dinner in a makeshift tent when they were attacked by armed men. There were survivors in the incident though their names were not reported to protect their identities. The brutal incident happened at Hacienda Nene, a sugarcane plantation located in Barangay Bulanon, Sagay City.CONNECT WITH US▸ https://linktr.ee/phmurderstoriesHere are links to our social media accounts, case photos, episode notes, and sources!YOUTUBE▸ www.youtube.com/phmurderstories DISCORD SERVER▸ https://bit.ly/3n38Tuh IG CHANNEL▸ https://ig.me/j/AbaOmN2HytgKay0F/ SUPPORT OUR SHOW ON PATREON▸ www.patreon.com/phmurderstories Hosted on Acast. She had just broken up with her boyfriend of 7 years, and she was moving into her own apartment. The night before Ashley signed her new lease she decided to meet an old friend for some drinks. The next morning, Ashley's mother would be frantically trying to find her daughter. Ashley's family and friends would desperately search for her in a case that will have your head spinning. Where was Ashley? Will her family ever get the answers they so truly deserve? A story that proves parents will stop at nothing to help their children. And, that might not always be a good thing. The sentencing of Heather Anderson, 36, has reignited outrage over the brutal murder of Shelley Stamp, 34, nearly two years ago in her Connecticut home. Anderson, who admitted to the crime, was sentenced to 25 to 30 years in prison by New Haven Superior Court Judge Joseph B. Schwartz. However, Stamp's grieving family has condemned the sentence as insufficient for the heinous crime committed. The family discovered Stamp's body after not hearing from her and decided to stop by her apartment in Waterbury. That's where they found her dead inside her home in a pool of blood, having been beaten and strangled with her own jacket during a home invasion, allegedly in pursuit of money for drugs. Anderson, who entered an Alford plea to one count of felony murder, will serve her time in a state correctional facility. During the sentencing hearing, Stamp's mother and sister delivered emotional victim impact statements, expressing profound grief and anger towards Anderson. Laura Tajildeen, Stamp's sister, directed powerful words at Anderson, condemning her actions and wishing a lifetime of remorse upon her. “I hope the look on my sister's face, the cries of help as you brutally attacked her, haunts you for the rest of your life. I hope you rot in your prison cell for the rest of your miserable life, and you dwell on the choices that you've made, and they haunt you for every minute of every day, because you deserve no happiness and no mercy from the court as you had none for my sister.” Stamp's mother, Kathy Daversa, expressed deep disappointment with the sentence, asserting that justice had not been served for her daughter's senseless killing. “25 to 30 years is not justice for the brutal and heinous murder of a vivacious, caring, loving, young woman in the prime of her life,” Daversa said. “She must have been so scared. What a horrible way to die. Looking up at a stranger's face full of rage, in desperate need of money to supply your disgusting drug habit. I picture her horrific death in my mind over and over again. No one can imagine picturing your daughter's vicious murder obsessively.” In response, Anderson offered an apology to Stamp's family, expressing regret for the tragic outcome of her actions. However, Judge Schwartz criticized the severity of the crime, denouncing it as a "particularly troubling murder" driven by a callous pursuit of drugs. “I agree with the state, it was done for peanuts. For nothing but a few bucks to buy drugs. It is unforgivable. It leaves me at a loss for words,” Schwartz said. “When you murder somebody, you don't just murder the complainant. In a lot of ways, you murder their entire family. Not only have you changed them forever, you have stolen all kinds of memories and the future that they were supposed to have together.” The details of Stamp's murder, revealed during the investigation, showcased the brutality of the crime. Anderson, along with another woman, Shannon Gritzbach, allegedly targeted Stamp's apartment in search of money. Anderson reportedly sought out a man she believed could provide her with money. This individual had previously resided in the same apartment as Stamp but had relocated to another unit within the building. Surveillance footage captured Anderson's failed attempts to enter the apartment before ultimately confronting Stamp upon her return home. Despite Anderson's admission of throwing Stamp to the ground and stealing from her apartment, including cash and credit cards, she denied tying the jacket around Stamp's head. Police discovered Stamp's belongings in Anderson's possession upon her arrest. While Gritzbach faced initial charges in connection with Stamp's death, she was later released on misdemeanor charges. However, her failure to appear in court has resulted in an ongoing search for her arrest. The Stamp family is now advocating for harsher sentences for these types of violent crimes. “It's because the sentences are not strict enough. The criminals are not afraid to commit the crimes. That's the problem,” Kathy Daversa added. “There's absolutely no justice in 30 years. It's an insult to my daughter's life. It's an absolute slap in the face to my daughter that the brutal murder just got 30 years.” #HeatherAnderson #ShelleyStamp #JosephSchwartz #ConnecticutMurder #HomeInvasion #FelonyMurder #VictimImpactStatements Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? A 40-year-old Minnesota man, Matthew Scott Brenneman, has been sentenced to nearly 24 years in prison for the brutal murder of his girlfriend, Danicka M. Bergeson, just days after being released from jail for previous assaults against her. Brenneman pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on Monday, with the Hennepin County Prosecutor's Office agreeing to drop first-degree murder charges in exchange. Brenneman admitted to two aggravating factors: killing Bergeson in a "zone of privacy" and treating her with "particular cruelty" by leaving her body to decompose. The sentence means Brenneman will likely serve just over 15 years in a state correctional facility. Under the plea agreement's terms, Brenneman would serve 23.75 years in a state correctional facility. Individuals convicted of felonies in Minnesota typically serve two-thirds of their sentence, which in this case would be just over 15 years. The Hennepin County Attorney, Mary Moriarty, emphasized the need for aggressive prosecution of domestic violence cases to ensure the safety of victims and survivors. “We were hoping for a plea with a much stronger sentence, you know, upwards, closer to the 30. But maybe some play in there. But, you know, we certainly thought that we could get stronger sentencing,” she said. “There's frustration with the way the system works. I mean, even if you're charged with first-degree murder, you only serve two-thirds of that, which is 20 years. And that in and of itself is a painful revelation.” Brenneman had only been released from jail on June 27, 2023, after pleading guilty to attacking Bergeson in April and May, when he punched, bit, and choked her in their home — and threatened to kill her. Under his guilty plea in that case, prosecutors agreed “to no additional time” in jail if Brenneman did not violate a no-contact order — but two days later, according to cell phone records, he was near their apartment. On July 8, 2023, officers from the Hopkins Police Department were called to an apartment complex after a downstairs neighbor reported yelling and banging from the unit above. Upon entering the apartment, police found Brenneman in the bathroom, where they detected a strong smell of bleach; he had ingested it in a suicide attempt. He was subsequently arrested at the scene. Bergeson was discovered lying in her bed, wrapped in blankets and a plastic garbage bag, with numerous abrasions and bruises. Authorities believe she had been dead for at least a day. Investigators also recovered a series of notes that were written by Brenneman, including an apology and what appeared to be a confession. Bergeson's family expressed frustration with the sentencing, hoping for a longer term. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Police have arrested and charged Tiffany Taylor Gray, 22, and Audrey Miller, 19, for the gruesome murder of Fasil Teklemariam, a 53-year-old man from Washington, D.C. The crime, which occurred on April 1, involved Teklemariam being bludgeoned, repeatedly stabbed, and having his thumb severed. The thumb was allegedly used by the killers to access his accounts and spend his money on Uber rides, marijuana, and alcohol. Gray, a resident of Prince George's County, Maryland, was apprehended on July 1 and charged with first-degree murder and armed felony murder. She is currently detained in Maryland and is expected to be extradited to Washington, D.C., to face charges. Miller was arrested on June 21 on similar charges and is being held in Washington, D.C. Her preliminary hearing has been rescheduled for July 30. According to court records, a witness claimed that Gray referred to Teklemariam as her "sugar daddy," although this has not been verified by the police. Teklemariam's body was discovered in his bedroom on April 5 after his family, unable to contact him, alerted the authorities. Police investigations revealed that Teklemariam was last seen entering his apartment on April 1. The crime scene showed signs of an attempted cleanup, but investigators were able to uncover bloody footprints and other stains using special techniques. Surveillance footage from Teklemariam's apartment and surrounding areas was crucial in identifying Gray, Miller, and three other suspects. One of the other suspects, a 34-year-old man referred to by Gray as her "play brother," has been positively identified, though no charges have been filed against the other suspects. Footage revealed that Teklemariam met Miller outside his apartment on April 1 and brought her in willingly. Gray and her "play brother" were seen entering the building later that evening. After the murder, the suspects were frequently seen entering and exiting Teklemariam's apartment, carrying items to a nearby car. They allegedly used Teklemariam's key fob to access the apartment and his Toyota RAV4 to transport stolen goods. Witnesses played a significant role in the investigation, identifying the suspects and the bags they carried out of Teklemariam's apartment. One witness revealed that Gray used Teklemariam's thumb to withdraw money from his accounts, which was then spent on Uber rides, marijuana, and alcohol. This same witness also linked Gray to a previous police complaint filed by Teklemariam, accusing her of stealing $1,800 from him using a cash app. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are continuing to piece together the full extent of the suspects' actions and the potential involvement of additional individuals. Maryland Congressman Andy Harris slams sanctuary states and President Biden for rewarding “people who come into this country illegally with citizenship,” instead of shutting down the southern border. Speaking to the heinous murder committed in Maryland in later 2023, where a mother of 5 was brutally killed by a 23 year old man from El Salvador, who had already committed murder in his home country, and “escapes across our open southern border to the United States and ends up in one of the sanctuary states, Maryland and commits this brutal crime. I mean, it's this is what we face as a nation, we have to secure our southern border.” Additional interview with News of the Week with AMAC Spokesman Bobby Charles.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
