The Gospel Outpost Presents Nobody Special. Two generations of people take a look at the world, pop culture, and current events while not taking any of it too seriously. Daniel and Caleb are Nobody Special, taking a light hearted look at the world through and see where God is revealing Himself.
The final episode of Nobody Special is now. Caleb and Danny have changing and shifting schedules as both of them enter into a new season in life. Danny had some progress in work opportunities that are taking a fair amount of time and Caleb recently got married to the wonderful Gracie. We talk about all the different changes in our life and then talk about trusting God through the changing of the seasons. For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, ESV) We are honored to be able to have served the Kingdom of God in this way for the past 4.5 years. It's Spooktober which means everything needs to have a halloween theme and twist to it. This includes all kinds of various streaming services for adults and for kids. In this episode, Danny Talks About the various new releases Midnight Mass, Are You Afraid of The Dark, and Just Beyond on Netflix and Disney Plus. Then we talk about Hallowee and what role demons play in the spiritual war we all face. “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and finding none it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.' And when it comes, it finds the house swept and put in order. Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there. And the last state of that person is worse than the first.” (Luke 11:24-26, ESV)We want to hear from you! How do you feel about Halloween and all the Halloween specials? What stood out to you? Netflix Original Survival Drama Squid Games is quickly becoming the top show on Netflix. For all the violence and language it paints a picture of humanity and who we become when the pressure is on. As a Christian, we experience trials that demonstrate and refine our faith. How will we act in the face of selfish decisions and what would we do if we were in the Squid Games.“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (James 1:2-4 ESV)We want to hear from you! Have you seen Squid Game? What stood out to you? Caleb and Danny answer a question from a listener! We talk about whether God's mind is changed by prayer and if not, then why should we pray. Prayer is integral to the life of the believer but many of us seem to think that prayer dictates what God does. Find out more on this week's episode of Nobody Special. “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” (Matthew 6:5-13, ESV)We want to hear from you! What do you think prayer impacts in the life of the believer? The Matrix dropped their trailer today. It seems to be about a world where no one can tell what is real or not and everyone just wants to feel better. So, nothing like today really. Also Danny and Caleb talk about Afghanistan and how this probably is not the end of the world. As we look for eternity, we need to anticipate the coming of the end but not worry about it. “As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,' and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:3-14, ESV)We want to hear from you! Netflix has a new documentary all about the business dealings of Bob Ross and Bob Ross industries. It tells the story of a man who just liked to paint. In the end, it turned in to this business empire with the image of Bob Ross being wrestled from the family. The pursuit of money can lead to a great number of sins and lead a person away from God as we pursuit this idol of status and wealth. But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. What if on this episode Danny and Caleb talked about Marvel's What If... And What If they also talked about Spider Man... And what if they also discussed the Emergent Church who had a propensity of asking What If... Biblical Authority and the foundation being built on Jesus Christ as the cornerstone of faith is important to our spiritual well being. Join Danny and Caleb as they talk about the impact of moving past doubt to questioning and abandoning truth all together. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In short, don't spiritualize the the vaccine. Honestly, its infuriated and a problem on both sides of the aisle. Everyone seems to be either thinking the vaccine is our savior (its not) or the mark of the beast (also not). More than that, everyone seems to be driving the rift between members of the body of Christ further and further. On this episode of Danny Talks About, Danny looks at both sides of the argument and what we need to let go of in order to come together and maintain the bond of unity together. I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ's gift.(Ephesians 4:1-7, ESV)We want to hear from you! What are your thoughts on the vaccine? We want your feedback. In today's culture, we see many ex-evangelicals who seem to be deconstructing their faith. Many of them bring up this supposed idea of Purity Culture and how it harmed people. But let's not throw the baby out with the bath water. As Christians, we are called to pursue purity within ourselves and with one another while also extending grace to those of us, including ourselves, who have made mistakes in the process. For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one transgress and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned you. For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness.(1 Thessalonians 4:3-7, ESV)We want to hear from you! Where have you seen the effects of purity culture? Danny Talks About... The Suicide Squad, the newest movie from DC Comics. In this sequel to the film the studio wished didn't exist, Amanda Waller assembles a new team of misfits to take on the end of the world. While this is definitely not a Christian movie (language, violence, blood and guts, and brief nudity) the Suicide Squad presents some challenging issues of ethics and whether a person is too far gone to be saved. Check out this week's podcast within a podcast as Danny looks for Christian themes and how this movie can point us to God in the process. For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:26-31, ESV)Are you going to watch The Suicide Squad or sit this one out? This week Caleb talks about "The Chosen", a hit TV show depicting the life of Jesus and His disciples in a fresh way. There have been many controversies about the Biblical accuracy of the show. Is it ok to have extra-biblical scenes? Should we watch this show? Is "The Chosen" Art? Caleb gives his best shot at answering all these questions while diving deeper into what the Bible says about art and creativity."The Lord said to Moses, “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft. And behold, I have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. And I have given to all able men ability, that they may make all that I have commanded you: the tent of meeting, and the ark of the testimony, and the mercy seat that is on it, and all the furnishings of the tent, the table and its utensils, and the pure lampstand with all its utensils, and the altar of incense, and the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the basin and its stand, and the finely worked garments, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, for their service as priests, and the anointing oil and the fragrant incense for the Holy Place. Mike Cosper from Christianity Today recently released a podcast on Mark Driscoll and Mars Hill asking one simple question; what happened to Mars Hill? He goes through the spiritual story of the church and the fallout that occurred from it. Now, Caleb and Danny talk about pastoral pride and how we can kill our own pride within us and encourage our pastor in the process.“The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.” (1 Timothy 3:1-7 ESV)We want to hear from you! The Boys on Amazon Prime is about a group of super heroes who are neither super nor heroes. Instead they use their power, backed by the faceless conglomerate of a corporation. As ridiculous (and gratuitous) and this story is, it presents the problem of chasing pride and power. Christians, though, are called to something different than our cultural understanding of identity and influence. We are called to boast in our weakness as we give God the glory through our inability. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. Danny Talks About… Netflix's endearing take on the dark DC Comic Sweet Tooth. Also, we talk about Disney Plus and the Mysterious Benedict Society. And we refuse to talk about Fast and Furious 9. In each of these there are strong ongoing themes of family, caring for one another, and growing with one another at personal expense. And they for some reason are creepily similar to what we are going through today. Danny looks at what it means to encourage one another and walks through the mud with one another so that we can lift one another up in the Lord. Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, are drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. (1 Thessalonians 5:1-11, ESV)Thanks for joining us for this experimental episode. We want your feedback. Recently a school board meeting in Loudoun County Virginia ended with endless chanting and police arrests over people's protesting of the inclusion of Critical Race Theory into the elementary school curriculum. Caleb and Danny look at what Critical Race Theory is, how it has been expressed, and what the church should do in response to calls for an increase in CRT ideals. We look at how the church comes together in Jesus Christ and ultimately finds a beautiful unity in the person of Jesus Christ. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. (Ephesians 2:13-17, ESV)We want to hear from you! Loki on Disney Plus opens to a fantastic episode. Danny and Caleb return to talk about this new show from the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Loki is arrested by the Time Variants Authority who strives to ensue the timeline is kept straight according to the Time Keepers' will. But who is messing up the timeline? What will happen to our favorite little mischeviou scamp? Is this show any good? Also we talk about the idea of fate in the hands of a sovereign God who rules over all creation and over all time. Everything submits to His will and nothing is beyond His control. Furthermore, while we all try and escape death, death will eventually find us all and we will all die one day. For the Christian, though, this death is not fatal as we will rise with Christ if we die with Him. Our resurrection comes in our dying to the self for the sake of the Gospel.Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. (Ephesians 1:3-4, ESV)But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:20-23, ESV)We want to hear from you! Danny Talks About… Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead. In this episode, Danny tries something new and discusses pop culture from his pretend study. Looking at Zack Snyder’s Netflix movie, Army of the Dead, we look for themes and whether it can be preached and whether it can be preached without being corny. Also, we look at the various plot holes that never got explained. Will there be a sequel? How will that happen if everyone is dead. Then we compare and contrast a life lived according to the Flesh and a life lived according to the Spirit. The two stand in opposition to each other and do not get along. We can only follow one or the other. Furthermore, the Fruit of the Spirit are a result of the Spirit’s work within us and not something we concur up on our own. But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodne ss, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires (Galatians 5:16-24, ESV)Thanks for joining us for this experimental episode. We want your feedback. Eschatology and Middle Easter Geopolitical Conflicts??? What a fun episode! On this week’s episode Danny and Caleb take a question from Matthew H. about how to get into eschatology. We look at what it means ot get into it and what are some good resources and approaches to looking at the end times. Then we discuss the recent events in Israel with the escalating conflict to determine what the Christian should do and how we should best interpret Romans 11 and the people of God. Also, Danny reveals some deep seeded brokenness because of course he does. Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion, he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”; “and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins.” As regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. For just as you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now receive mercy. For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all. Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?” “Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. (Romans 11:25-36)We want to hear from you! Do you agree or disagree with anything we said in this episode? Why or why not? Ask us questions or just say hi! Danny and Caleb sit down and discuss the western church and the challenges it faces compared with the church of the Middle East and their thriving focus of faith. The church throughout history wrestles with pressure from the culture seeping in and getting our attention off of Christ and on serving ourselves. When we compare this to the growing Christian presence in the Middle East, we find an odd contrast from a church with all the blessings and abilities but a lack of conviction and a church being persecuted endlessly that is thriving. We look at the cause behind this and how we can engage in our faith while not caving in to the pressure of the world around us. And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: ‘The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s creation. “‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. (Revelation 3:14-15, ESV)We want to hear from you! Shadow and Bone, based of the books by the same name by Leigh Bardugo, recently premiered on Netflix and quickly rose to their top 10 shows. This show deals with many fascinating themes that Caleb and Danny look into like classism, favoritism, and the light and dark dichotomy. The Christian works in the understanding that light shines even in the darkness and the darkness is unable to overcome it. So often the world can seem as if darkness is winning. However, we must continue to hold our heads up high and understand that God created the heavens, earth, and everything in it and will be victorious no matter what. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.(John 1:1-5, ESV)We want to hear from you! Falcon and the Winter Soldier have been hunting terrorists on Disney Plus. The biggest issue they have faced is the newest Captain America. Captain Fauxmerica? John Walker, the man selected to take up the mantle of cap, wrestles with his own demons, ultimately needing to decide whether he forfeits his soul for the sake of his own name. The Christian’s call is to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Jesus. Many people say this phrase, but do we actually know what it means. On this week’s episode, Danny and Caleb talk about denying ourselves and how we can actually do that as Christians. Check out this Marvel filled episode. Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”(Matthew 16:24-28, ESV)We want to hear from you! Fast and the Furious prided itself on the crew being a family. Then they just, in our opinion, made weird movies. Now they are going into space. Okay. Sure. We talk about encouragement and relationships. Christians need to encouragement one another in all of our relationships. Whether it be a mentor, a peer, or a mentee, everyone needs to encourage one another at some point. Just as Paul did in all of his letters to the churches, there is a longing to be with others in the body of Christ and encourage one another according to the Gospel. Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace. We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake. And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit, so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia. For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything. For they themselves report concerning us the kind of reception we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come. Danny got a new dog and has to train and discipline the dog. Is this a form of how God treats us? Possibly. Is Danny’s dog coping with being an animal that has to obey commands now? Most likely. Is Danny tired by disciplining a dog at all hours of the morning? Absolutely. Discipline from God’s perspective is not something meant to keep us down, strip us of our divinity or condemn us. It comes from the same place as a Father who loves his children disciplines them out of love. For the Christian, we must willingly accept the love of God that comes in the form of discipline. Furthermore, this differs from condemnation which tells us we are worthless whereas discipline simply seeks to make us more like our Heavenly Father. “Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.” It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” (Hebrews 12:3-11, ESV)We want to hear from you! Lil Nas X put out a limited edition shoe with demonic themes and overtones, to celebrate the release of his new song and music video where he dances inappropriately on the devil before becoming him. Sigh. That’s a sentence I never thought I would type. So let’s talk about it I guess. Caleb and Danny talk about how the Christian should respond to the increase in cultural darkness that seems to be becoming more and more prominent. Rather than simply just calling a thing sinful and dark, we must be graceful in our approach. And rather than just being silent, we must actually be willing to engage and call out darkness for what it is while seeking to bring people into the light. “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” (Ephesians 5:11-14, ESV) We want to hear from you! Zack Snyder put out a four hour cut of the Justice League movie as he intended it to be. The world stood by as the superheroes stood up to save the world. Everyone looked to the super powered and the elite to save them from the impending doom of the end of the world. The church, though, functions in a different manner. Each one of us is called to serve the body of Christ, impact the ministry field of our community, and glorify God with every part of our identity and being. We all have been given gifts and and identity for the purpose of God in our every day life and we will never find fulfillment and joy until that purpose is complete. “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” (Ephesians 4:11-16, ESV)We want to hear from you! A ton happened this past week, additional Dead Sea scrolls were found with ancient manuscripts of biblical texts, Falcon and the Winter Soldier premiered, Caleb admitted to not finishing The Mandalorian. But we take this time to talk about twitter feud between Candace Owens and rapper Cardi B for her performance at the Grammy. Nasty. Then we look at how a Christian can be more discerning with what they put their attention on. We are new creations in Jesus Christ and the old person is dead. Yet, many of us continue to live as if the dead person still has life. For the Christian, a redeemed life should reflect the glory of God and our lives should be changed as we allow God to be Lord and King over all aspects of our life. If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. (Colossians 3:1-4, ESV)We want to hear from you! Burger King makes a sexist tweet and the internet loses their mind. We ask the hard questions of “Do people start culinary careers at Burger King?” Then we talk about a question from our listener on whether atheists doing good things is good. Matthew H. writes in with a question whether God views the good deeds of non-believers. While the acts might be good does the heart behind the person doing the actions impact the way God views the good works of man. This multifaceted question actually breaks down two different questions about non-believers doing good things and non-believers being good. “For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus.” (Romans 2:12-16, ESV)We want to hear from you! Dr. Seuss books have been taken down. But is this a Christian's time to frown? Or should we simply not dismay, because Jesus Christ has won the day? We should glorify God wherever we are. We should praise His name in a car. Praise Him near. Praise Him far. We should praise Him all the church and do not let our anger lurch. Yeah, we are talking about censorship this episode and how we should continue to glorify God in whatever avenue we have so that people might know the real and true Lord through our interactions with them. Even if everything is censored, taken down, and Christians are persecuted, we should still praise Him. “For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not be quiet, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a burning torch. The nations shall see your righteousness, and all the kings your glory, and you shall be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will give.” (Isaiah 62:1-2, ESV)We want to hear from you! Daft Punk recently broke up as a group although the friendship lives on. For them it was never about their own personality but about calling attention to something greater than themselves. The way we pray should reflect the same glory for something greater, but for us means so much more. Prayer, for the Christian is the act of pouring out of our heart before God. Yet, often times, our temptation is to make it a spectacle by making it about us rather than giving glory of God. While this can be difficult to determine the heart behind a person’s prayer, we must be check our own heart to ensure that we are submitting to God as our King and approaching Him as our Father. And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray then like this:“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Ravi Zacharias International Ministries recently put out a report detailing the allegations of sexual misconduct, abuse, and impropriety against founder Ravi Zacharias. Caleb and Danny talk about how we respond to this news and how we can decrease so that God might increase. With the news of Christian Pastor and Teacher Ravi Zacharias, Danny and Caleb deal with the the news that someone we looked up to lead an entirely different life than what we originally expected. It seems as though, at some point, the organization became more about protecting the reputation of its founder rather than proclaiming the Gospel. We talk about what it means to allow ourselves to become nothing in order that Christ could become glorified through everything we do. We see this first in the struggle of John the Baptist and supposed competition with Jesus’ ministry. Now a discussion arose between some of John’s disciples and a Jew over purification. And they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, he who was with you across the Jordan, to whom you bore witness—look, he is baptizing, and all are going to him.” John answered, “A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given him from heaven. You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ‘I am not the Christ, but I have been sent before him.’ The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete. He must increase, but I must decrease.” (John 3:25-30, ESV)We want to hear from you! What have you found helpful to decrease you in order that Christ would be glorified? Gina Carano has been fired from Disney+ and future projects. Many Christians are looking to cancel Disney+ is response to her needless firing. But does Canceling something to protect Cancel culture work? Based on social media postings, Gina Carano has been targeting by social media campaigns to see her fired and removed from her job. In response, many have sought to retaliate against Disney+ by canceling their subscription. On this week’s episode, we look at a Christian’s response in facing persecution and turning the cheek to those who inconvenience or trouble us.“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.” (Matthew 5:38-42, ESV)We want to hear from you! Positivity Youtubers seem to be overly cringe. But they also miss out on the joy of finding God in the sorrow. Join Danny and Caleb as we talk about “just be happy” and finding God in the middle of times that aren’t so positive and being with the family of God. Many people have often said “Just think happy thoughts and it will make your life happy.” Yet, for many people this just doesn’t seem to work. On this episode, we respond to the common idea that positive Youtubers and social media accounts bring of just being positive and life will be better. Jesus promises difficult times when we choose to follow Him, but has also promised that He has already overcome the struggles and trials. Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe? Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me. I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:31-33, ESV)We want to hear from you! Stocks, according to Danny, operate in mystery and are basically gambling. Danny and Caleb take the recent events with Reddit and Robinhood to talk about how a Christian should best handle their finances. For many people, the pursuits of finances come as a way validate their own sense of worth. Yet, each person who looks to finances for worth and purpose will never actually find what they are seeking to attain. Those can come only from God and the pursuit of financial gain as the end all of human existence will only result in a person wandering from their faith. “But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.” (1 Timothy 6:9-10, ESV)We want to hear from you! Caleb may be out but Andrew and Danny are in! We talk about the inauguration without getting political and then how to contextualize the Gospel. The role of the Christian involves proclaiming the Gospel in whatever context we find ourselves in. With the events of the past year, we have a profound opportunity to share the Gospel with the world around us. We should hold fast to the Gospel while also being willing to adapt to the culture around us. “For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.” (1 Corinthians 9:19-21, ESV)We want to hear from you! hildren’s and Student’s ministry curriculum, what’s up with that? Is it Gospel based or just moralism? Caleb and Danny take a look at it in this week’s episode of Nobody Special. Children and Student’s ministry curriculum seems to have a bent towards moralism. This idea puts the action before the Gospel, thinking that the immediacy of a person’s action is more pressing than the eternal destiny of the person. This, is problematic to say the least. Danny and Caleb turn to Ephesians 2 to unpack exactly where our salvation stems from and what role our actions place. Ultimately, we should seek to give glory to God for all we do and that we are IN CHRIST as we receive the love of God. “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:4-10, ESV)We want to hear from you! Caleb and Danny of Nobody Special wanted to come back and have a fun episode talking about all the thing we are looking forward to this year. But nooooo. We have to address why invading the Capitol building and the Christian faith is incompatible. We should love our enemies. This year, we as Christians have the profound ability to be the light of God to the world around us. Since everything seems dark, there is no better time to be the light of the world. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16, ESV)Special shout out to Samuel S. and Fakey McFake for writing to us and letting us know how you are doing and what’s going on with you guys! We talk about the Shepherds, the Wise Men, and even the Camels, but do we ever talk about the Dragons? Find out more on this week’s episode of Nobody Special. The boys of Nobody Special talk about the spiritual side of Christmas that often times is skipped over. While the incarnation is incredibly important and shouldn’t be downplayed, the spiritual aspect of Christmas was enough to make the angel burst out into song in response to the coming of God and His glory. Also, we talk about the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984 and Warner Brother movies coming to HBO Max. “And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pains and the agony of giving birth. And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven diadems. His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child he might devour it. She gave birth to a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne, and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which she is to be nourished for 1,260 days.” (Revelation 12:1-6, ESV)Also, be sure you check out the book The Christmas We Didn’t Expect by David Mathis of DesiringGod.org. We have seem many version of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Some of them are good and others not so much. We talk about the meaning behind them and then talk about the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus. Jesus tells the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus. Both die and stand before the Lord. The Rich Man, who denied Jesus, wanted to warn his friends and family about the coming wrath. But they already had their warning with Moses and the prophets. The council of scripture pushes us to act today. One life can make a huge difference and huge impact. There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’ And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father’s house— for I have five brothers—so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’ But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ And he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.(Luke 16:19-31 ESV)Also, be sure you check out the book The Christmas We Didn’t Expect by David Mathis of DesiringGod.org. We all go to Christmas parties this time of year, but should we use these as opportunities to preach? We talk about Paul David Tripp’s recent comments on Christmas parties. Pastor and author Paul David Tripp recently made the statements that you should not use Christmas parties to preach at people. Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. At the core of the Gospel is the proclamation that Jesus came to be with us as one of us, so that we might be with Him. As we kick of this Christmas/Advent season, we give props to Justin Bieber for being more open and honest about his faith and public declaration that Jesus loves us. Then we go on to talk about the announcement from the angel Gabriel to Mary that she would become pregnant with child. God took on flesh and choose to be with us as both Fully God and Fully Man and died on the cross for our sins to establish our eternity. In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end. Happy Thanksgiving from Caleb and Danny of Nobody Special. Naturally, we talk about being thankful and the holiday food we hate. Thanksgiving is a great American holiday that we get together with friends and family to talk about the things we are thankful for. And oh boy, do we need that this year. It’s been a rough one. But first, we talk about the Thanksgiving Food that just seems weird, gross, or just doesn’t strike us the right way. Check out our Thanksgiving Special of an episode! “Make a joyful noise to the Lord , all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.” (Psalm 100:1-5, ESV)Also, be sure you check out the book The Christmas We Didn’t Expect by David Mathis of DesiringGod.org. Danny and Caleb talk about the constant rebooting of stories across all media and going on to talk about persevering in our faith. Shark Boy and Lava Girl are getting a reboot that leaves Caleb and Danny asking “Did anyone ask for this? Anyone at all?” We look at the various reboots across all forms of media and whether there is a need for new stories or not. “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:2-8 ESV)Also, be sure you check out the book The Christmas We Didn’t Expect by David Mathis of DesiringGod.org. Danny man’s the helm as Caleb is in a funk. On this episode, we look at the recent trend to move to new social media platforms and how to shine in this world. With the recent struggles with censorship on Facebook and Twitter, many have taken to switching to Parler and MeWe as the new conservative, censorship free media platforms. Danny looks at whether this idea is a good “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me.” John 15:18-21, ESVAnd…You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16, ESVWe want to hear from you! Caleb and Danny talks about the Mandalorian Season 2 and catch up on all things Disney Plus. Then we talk about the enemy and who Christians should actually view as the main enemy. Mandalorian is back and this time, its very much like the previous season. Still good and we loved it. It continues the story of the Mandalorian’s journey to reunite Baby Yoda with the Jedi. In this first episode, the people of a small town in Tatooine must unite with the Tusken Raiders to defeat a dragon. Then we talk about who the enemy in our spiritual battle is and how we should not turn on one another. There is a spiritual battle and it is not against flesh and blood. Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. (Ephesians 6:10-13 ESV)We want to hear from you! Caleb and Danny celebrate the spooky season by talking about our favorite Halloween movies. Then we talk about the idea of wearing spiritual masks and approaching God in honesty and sincerity. Everyone to some extent struggles with wearing masks while we try and approach God. Yet, it is God who tells us to approach Him in confidence and understanding that when we come to Him, we can come as we are while not staying there. God wants us to come to Him and He will care for us and reveal Himself to us for His glory. Christ is even in the struggle. “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David. Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples. Behold, you shall call a nation that you do not know, and a nation that did not know you shall run to you, because of the Lord your God, and of the Holy One of Israel, for he has glorified you.” (Isaiah 55:1-5, ESV)We want to hear from you! Trusting in God can be difficult, but it often times puts us in the place that we need to be. Caleb and Danny talk about what it means to trust in God and in his presence. Also we talk about ropes courses and what is up with those. Trusting in the Lord comes from being humble, understanding that the things we can do are a grace of God to do them and the things we cannot do are a chance to glorify God by trusting in Him. It is through God that we can do anything and everything we can do comes from trusting Him. Caleb and Danny tell the stories of trusting in God and where they have needed to have faith in Him the most. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord , and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.” (Proverbs 3:5-8, ESV)We want to hear from you! Ask us questions or just say hi! Crash Bandicoot gives Danny a fair amount of stress and anxiety. Good news is that the Bible has something to say about that. Stress and anxiety. Not Crash Bandicoot. Join us in an open and candidate discussion of stress and anxiety. It seems that this culture is struggling with anxiety and stress. Even Caleb and Danny are not immune to the struggles and difficulties that come from stress. On this episode we talk about anxiety, how we notice it in ourselves and how we deal with the pressure we face. In our experience, so much of our reaction comes from centering our vision on the Lord even in the middle of difficult times. “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”(Philippians 4:4-8 ESV) “For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.”(2 Corinthians 10:4-6 ESV) We want to hear from you! Vice Presidential Debates, Universal Studios, and Internet Entertainment Company Rooster Teeth. What do all these things have in common? Caleb and Danny talk about them on this week’s episode of Nobody Special. It’s a potpourri of topics today people. Caleb and Danny got to spend some time in Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida where we learn Danny’s true feelings on roller coasters. Also, we touch on the vice presidential debates and what happened and why is no one yelling, this is a debate! Finally we talk about Rooster Teeth and the recent allegations and drama that has occurred with this internet superstar company (albeit definitely not Christian content, full disclosure). We look at the problems of fame and whether the Christian should even pursue fame as a means of living. “Now concerning brotherly love you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another, for that indeed is what you are doing to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to do this more and more, and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.” (1 Thessalonians 4:9-12, ESV)Question of the week: What are the idols in our life that we are dependent on? Breathe in. Breathe out. Andrew Steier from Student Gospel Outreach drops by to guest host. So naturally, we talk about the peaceful subject of the first Presidential Debate. Breathe in. Breathe out. It's gonna be alright. The first presidential debate has occurred and America seems to be almost in agreement, that was a dumpster fire of a debate. Andrew and Danny discuss the impact of the debate and the example being set by the leadership of both potential presidents. Then we turn our attention to what it means to demonstrate the love of Christ in this circumstance. We have an opportunity to be the light of the world to those around us by showing the world the love we have founded on the hope of Jesus Christ. When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once. Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me, and just as I said to the Jews, so now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going you cannot come.’ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:31-35, ESV)If you want to support Andrew Steier or Student Gospel Outreach, or, just to find out more information, go to http://studentgo.org. On this episode, we talk about truth, where our attention lies, and what lies to our attention. Also we talk about the rash of movies coming out and apparently what the kids from Stranger Things are doing. Netflix has some new movies coming out. No, not that one. Hubie Halloween comes out this Halloween. As another Adam Sandler movie, will it be good? Probably not. Will we love every minute of it? Absolutely. Also Enola Holmes comes out this week to give a new take on a classic story. But like for teens. I guess. Danny is actually editing the show while watching this to see if its actually any good. Then we turn our attention to attention. As we gear up for a contentious election season, everyone seems to be sharing news article, fact checking them, and debating their interpretation. Attention has become the new currency for people and as Christians, we must always be aware who has our attention and allegiance the most. God is truth and anything not in Him is not truth. “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you DO know him and have seen him.” (John 14:1-7, ESV)Where do you see the battle for truth in this generation? We want to hear from you!
