On The Happiness Lab, Dr. Laurie Santos explores all the ways we get our happiness wrong and what we can to do really feel better. She walks through the latest evidence-based strategies for improving your mental health, sharing practical advice on what will really bring more joy. In her latest New Year season of The Happiness Lab, Laurie tackles how to listen to the inner voice of what we really need in the new year. Actor and author Tony Hale (Veep, The Mysterious Benedict Society, Arrested Development) joins Laurie to discuss how he was always chasing new accomplishments, until he realized he was missing the chance to be happy living in the moment. The Consolidation. The Oligarchs, Big Tech and the Surveillance State. Never has so much power been in the hands of so few. The consequences of Deep State Rule, disastrous foreign and domestic policies. Saying NO to the Gulag. Judas Republicans. Smears from RINO Mitch McConnell on "candidate quality." Far-Left three-letter agencies. Elon Musk on inevitable tyranny without Free Speech. Checking the outstanding Trump 2024 plank on Free Speech, a key to salvation. Growing distrust for DeSantis. All politics is "performative" so long as there is a Deep State. Meanwhile, praise for "The Mysterious Benedict Society" series, introducing children to PSYOPS. Bob Iger Back As CEO, Bob Chapek Out https://deadline.com/2022/11/disney-bob-iger-returns-ceo-bob-chapek-out-1235178223/ Per Deadline, Iger's initial successor, Bob Chapek, has stepped down as Disney CEO. Iger now returns to the position after less than one year of retirement. "The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) announced today that Robert A. Iger is returning to lead Disney as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately," the company wrote in an official notice. "Mr. Iger, who spent more than four decades at the Company, including 15 years as its CEO, has agreed to serve as Disney's CEO for two years, with a mandate from the Board to set the strategic direction for renewed growth and to work closely with the Board in developing a successor to lead the Company at the completion of his term. Mr. Iger succeeds Bob Chapek, who has stepped down from his position." MCU – MARVEL STUDIOS NEWS Chris Hemsworth Says a Thor 5 Needs a Different Tone https://www.cbr.com/chris-hemsworth-thor-5-needs-different/ Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Hemsworth pointed out how the first two Thor movies were quite similar, then the third and fourth films in the series, both directed by Taika Waititi, were also similar, albeit drastically different in tone from his first two outings. The actor explains that he has appreciated how he has been able to continuously reinvent the character, citing Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame as yet another unique chapter in his journey as Thor. "I've said this before but when it becomes too familiar, I think there's a risk in getting lazy then because I know what I'm doing," he said. "I don't know if I'm even invited back, but if I was, I think it would have to be a drastically different version in tone, everything, just for my own sanity… [laughs] Thor lost his mind that last one. He's got to figure it out now." While in the past Hemsworth has claimed he would play Thor forever, he recently admitted that he thinks a fifth film would have to be his last. He acknowledged that, much like Robert Downer Jr.'s Iron Man and Chris Evans's Captain America, a conclusion for Thor is inevitable. "I feel like it probably warrants that. I feel like it'd probably be the finale, but that's not based on anything anyone's told me or any sort of plans. You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don't know—am I at that stage? Who knows?" From June 23rd, 2022: Chris Hemsworth Plans to Stop Playing Thor Before Fans Want Him To https://www.cbr.com/chris-hemsworth-explains-needs-mcu-thor/ Thor: Love and Thunder star Chris Hemsworth recently discussed his limit when it comes to playing iconic Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero Thor. Hemsworth revealed how he'll know when it's time to step away from the role that made him a star in an interview with Total Film MAgazine. "Each time, if the opportunity comes up and presents itself [to play Thor], I'm just open to whatever creative exploration can happen, thanks to different writers and directors and so on," he said. "But I love playing the character, I really do. It always comes down to: 'Is this script different to the last one? Are we repeating something?' And when it becomes too familiar, I think that's when I'd have to say, 'Yeah, no, this doesn't... I think I've...' [laughs] I'd like to exit before people tell me to exit." From June 22nd, 2022: Chris Hemworth would play Thor again – if it's something different https://www.gamesradar.com/chris-hemsworth-thor-return-chances-love-and-thunder/ As reported by Games Radar+, Feige is happy for Thor to get a potential fifth or sixth film due to sheer number of tales that revolve around the Norse God that could be put to the big screen. "I know this: there are many, many other Thor stories in the comics that we talk about a lot," he said. "And as we watch Chris Hemsworth continue to grow and evolve as a major acting talent, I would be excited to see how he keeps evolving this complex character." Walt Disney CFO, Others Brought Concerns to Board Over Bob Chapek Bob Chapek Shifted Budgets to Disguise Disney+'s Massive Monetary Losses https://www.wsj.com/articles/walt-disney-cfo-others-brought-concerns-to-board-over-bob-chapek-11669072222 https://www.cbr.com/bob-chapek-shifted-budgets-disguise-disney-plus-losses/ Per The Wall Street Journal, "people familiar with the matter" shared that shows intended to be (and billed as) Disney+ originals, including The Mysterious Benedict Society and Doogie Kameāloha, M.D., were aired first on other networks, such as the Disney Channel, so their production and marketing budgets wouldn't be counted against Disney+. In this way, the streaming service was seen as losing less money on original content. Chief Financial Officer Christine McCarthy, who was reportedly one of the voices behind Chapek's removal, was "concerned about this strategy." Chapek had a lot riding on Disney+, as he had promised investors that Disney's streaming division, which also includes Hulu and ESPN+, would be profitable by 2024. However, 164 million subscribers for Disney+, roughly two-thirds of Netflix's current number, and $30 billion invested in content in 2022 alone haven't been enough to stop losses from increasing for the last four quarters. Overall, the streaming division has lost more than $8.5 billion since Disney+ launched in 2019. OUTRO AND BONUS AUDIO [1:19:30] We would love to hear back from you!
