The Dodgers-Yankees World Series has drawn the highest number of viewers in nearly a decade. This is a problem for the NBA and an indictment of LeBron James and the current generation of stars. The league's inability to captivate an audience is a product of the on-court play, to the point that a head coach is advocating for a rule change to allow fighting to gain more eyes on the game. This isn't Jordan, Bird, and Magic's NBA. Steve Kim and Butter join “Fearless” to debate the state of basketball. Plus, ESPN's leading race-baiter Ryan Clark dressed in “white face” for Halloween, and the woke sports media is just ignoring it. We want to hear from the Fearless Army!! What is at the top of the agenda for the new environment secretary Therese Coffey? She says ELMS – the Environment, Land Management schemes - are safe. Fishing crews give their thoughts on the mass die-off of shellfish on the North East coast, and should the Red Tractor farm assurance scheme do more to prevent pollution from farms. Faster government compensation is promised for farmers hit by bird flu, growing nuts and seeds for profit, and cultivating pumpkins for Hallowee'n, is a bit of a treat for farmers. Hallowee.. äh Reformationstag knallt auch 505 Jahre nach seiner Entdeckung mehr oder minder stark in die neue Folge. The stupid is all over the place this season like candy corn in the bottom of your halloween bag. Everyone hands it out, some people say they love it, but they don't. It's an outdated and disgusting relic from a time long past. And it just will NOT go away. And it's the scary season. Not just in America, but around the world. There are real goons and monsters and goblins doing dastardly and frightening things. But there are also real life superheroes. Helpers who are rising to the moment. In Iran. In Ukraine. In America. They're not scared of the monsters. Meanwhile, too many of our politicians in the US are the monsters. And they are not scared of consequences from voters. You see that in the arrogance of politicians like Florida Senator Marco Rubio, and Texas Governor Greg Abbot, and Herschel Walker. And it's scary to imagine them in power next year. That's what you have to fear this Halloween. Not drug dealers putting fentanyl in your kids' candy. Some of these monsters will stay in power. Some will gain power. And in two weeks, we'll see which ones. Until then, there is reason to be vigilant. And reason to be scared. Halloween is almost here. But nothing's scarier than the political freak show unfolding before our eyes. And we're digging into all of it from what's next for the Jan 6 committee, to the election final stretch, to Putin's long game on Ukraine. And our guest is a leader in the middle of all of it. And he's wearing no masks. But he is one of the fellas. He's a 43-year-old Illinois Republican Congressman, Air Force combat veteran, political maverick, and fighter of the good fight. And a man of this moment in American politics. He's catapulted to the forefront of America's consciousness in the last few months as one of only two republicans on the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol. He's taking shots from all sides–and he's fighting back. Per usual. And he's wearing no masks. But he is one of the fellas. And he is ready to help us through the scary season. He's our favorite about to no longer be a Republican. He's Congressman Adam Kinzinger (@AdamKinzinger). He first joined us back Episode 149 in January. And again for a special Ukraine War report on Episode 159 in March. And he's back again now to break it down. Fresh off sending a subpoena to Donald Trump. And you definitely wanna hear what he's got to share. It's Spooktober which means everything needs to have a halloween theme and twist to it. This includes all kinds of various streaming services for adults and for kids. In this episode, Danny Talks About the various new releases Midnight Mass, Are You Afraid of The Dark, and Just Beyond on Netflix and Disney Plus. Then we talk about Hallowee and what role demons play in the spiritual war we all face. “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and finding none it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.' And when it comes, it finds the house swept and put in order. Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there. And the last state of that person is worse than the first.” (Luke 11:24-26, ESV)We want to hear from you! How do you feel about Halloween and all the Halloween specials? What stood out to you? Wayne and Ken are recovering from a fun night each from their Halloween adventures, including getting the audio cables all fitting together right. Ken and Kitten Features did some thrifting to finish decking out their house with new furniture in preparations for leaving their house for a week of sun and fun. Ken explains the history of Halloween and how the US has influenced the Scottish festival of Halloween and the types of parties he now experiences. People drink a lot. Ken celebrated as a Juggalo...No a false wrestler at a wrestling party, while Wayne was a priest...well Garderbelt from Panty & Stocking. Wayne's guests definitely turned out well in many a great costume to enjoy his games, alcohol, and dancing. It's Day 25! Today I'm joined by CC from Bloody Good Horror's new Something Red Podcast! She's been a co-hort for awhile and we get into some Halloween geekiness for sure! Hocus Pocus, decorations, candy and more! Enjoy!
Greetings, ladies and gentlemen! Albatross Applesauce is coming at you with a brand new podcast episode, and wouldn't you know it? We're returning to our original format, and you can listen to it by clicking this link or using the player below! What format is that format, you new(er) listeners may ask? Well, why don't I lay it out for you right here and now. In our original format, we did not take on, as we have been doing recently, one particular director and talk about his work. Oh, no! What we used to do was, in the course of one episode, review one new release, one selection from The Criterion Collection (in a segment we like to call The Criterion Corner), and then both Phil and Andrew would suggest a particular film that we might be partial to, and try and give you some good reasons to watch it on your own. Our shows, however, tended to run upwards of an hour and a half or more, so we've made an executive decision, as our public has demanded it: WE WILL BE CUTTING OUR SHOWS IN HALF!Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we will now be releasing the same ol' podcast, but we'll be releasing it in more digestible chunks. Each episode will be divided into two segments, to be released over two consecutive weeks:Part 1: New Release, plus The Criterion Corner selection.Part 2: Andrew and Phil's recommendations for the episode. There you have it! That's it! That's the new format! Let us know if you love it, hate it, or are completely indifferent to it! And now that that is out of the way, we're going to be releasing many more podcasts on a much more regular basis. Joy! Mirth! Merriment! Whoop-dee doodle!Joaquin Phoenix (left) and Philip Seymour Hoffman (right) in The Master. In this first half of our msot recent episode, we'll be discussing the (now not so) recent release The Master, Paul Thomas Anderson's latest confounding and fascinating film, featuring powerhouse performances from Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman. After, that, we'll delve into The Criterion Collection's spectacular Blu-ray release of 12 Angry Men, a classic if ever there was one, and the great Sidney Lumet's first feature film.A pivotal scene from 12 Angry MenOh, and please keep on the lookout for part two of this episode a week from today, where Phil and I will be talking about SPOOKY MOVIES, just in time for Hallowee...er, Christmas. Enjoy!
Stop by and listen to Skeeter Bartley, Chris Siemer, Aaron Taylor, and myself remiinisce about our toys growing up. We also tell tales of our childhood Shenanigans, and halloween treats.
