Rey Guevara used to be a big deal in the Catholic Church. Now he's not. But he does have a lot of useless information about Catholicism in his head, so now he does this podcast.

It's easy to be a Christian when you are an idiot. Today the boys are joined by two of the smartest guys we know (One is a scientist of sorts, the other is a philosopher of sorts) to talk about Christian faith and scientific fact. Today we use big words. Apologies to Evie for the giggling.

Today the boys sit down with friend of the podcast, Daniel Quintero, and distinguished guest, Tori Oswald, to discuss what we're respectfully calling "LGBT issues" and the Church. We at the Stump a Catholic podcast are decidedly conservative, orthodox Christians. We are not confused about church teaching on marriage, sexual intimacy, scandal, or anything like that. However, we have been confused by and struggled with the way we as a church relate to the LGBT community. And we have struggled with our understanding of the plight of the LGBT community. Today's episode probably contains more questions than answers, but we firmly believe in the importance of those questions and hope you will hear us out. In this episode we are joined by Sakib Shaikh, Director of Public Relations and Outreach for the MCECC. This is a great conversation that we are excited to share with you. For feedback, holler at the boys (Meaning Rey because Trevor and Trenton don't keep up with the internet.) on social media: @ReyGuevara
Today the boys are off on an adventure to learn more about our Muslim neighbors, and we want you to join us! The Fastathon is an event in San Antonio hosted by the Muslim Education and Civic Center (MCECC) where non-Muslims are invited to participate in a day of fasting during Ramadan and to break the fast at the center. For every participant, the Center will donate $100 to charity. If you live in the San Antonio area and want to participate, you have until June 3, when Ramadan ends. We hope you can make it out this week. Stay tuned for an interview coming at you this Sunday.

All this and more in another patented Bummer Episode! And to anyone living with depression, the boys would like to honestly express our solidarity with you. We also ask that you reach out to someone close and be honest about what you're going through. You've made it through every moment in your life that you didn't think you could make it through. We are experimenting with the idea of putting a guide in the show notes for what topics we discuss, since SOME PEOPLE have said we are all over the place. Today on our show we continue our salute to the incomparable Gungor with a deep dive into "Christian Music." Why is "worship" such a loaded word? Why does Rey hate the term "worship leader?" Why can't Trenton stay on topic? Find answers to these questions and more on the Stump a Catholic podcast. Apologies to Evie for the giggling.
In certain circles of the American Christian world the name "Gungor" inspires controversy. In this particular podcast studio that name mostly inspires dancing. Gungor recently announced their farewell tour (of sorts). Today we talk about that tour and the band behind it as well as the controversies surrounding the band. If you're here purely for the theology, you can fast forward to about the 26-minute mark. Apologies to Evie for the giggling.
On January 31st, 2019 the Archdiocese of San Antonio released a report on sexual abuse allegations in the diocese going back to the 1940s. Today on our show we discuss the report and the crisis of abuse cover ups in the Catholic church and the Christian world. Due to the content, this may be an episode that you need to skip, and we respect that completely. Still, no matter how difficult discussions like this are, we believe they have to take place so that the people who do evil things in our midst are forced into the light. Earlier in the week Rey managed to get on his favorite podcast, The RELEVANT Podcast, in just the stupidest way possible. We felt the topic needed to be addressed in a minisode of its own. This week's regular episode of the Stump a Catholic Podcast will be in your feed Sunday, as usual. Please be sure to download the latest episode of the RELEVANT Podcast. Or at least listen to it starting around the 13 minute mark.
On today's episode the boys sit down with long time friend and world traveler, Daniel Quintero. Daniel has been a constant and powerful presence in Rey's life throughout the years. Last month he went on pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Today he shares the fruits of that experience with us. Apologies to Evie for the giggling. Stay tuned after the show for bonus material from the show.
