I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 15th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Psalm 51:10-11. David cries out: ”Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.“ That was his prayer after he had committed adultery with Bathsheba, and the Prophet Nathan had come and exposed him. Then we go to Romans 10:13: “For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” And you'll find that also in Acts 2:21.Anybody that calls upon the name, I said, anybody that calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved - the backslider, the thief, the murderer, the adulterer. Think about it: Moses, Zacchaeus, David, Paul, every one of them a sinner, called upon the name of the Lord, and they were gloriously saved and used by God.I want to tell you about a baseball player who lived in the 1800's. His name was Billy Sunday. He was a star player, one of the best in the world. On a Sunday afternoon, he was walking down the street in Chicago with a few of his baseball friends, and he went past a mission, a little city mission. He heard beautiful gospel songs being sung. He was a gambler, a drinker, and he used to swear like a trooper. What happened? He went in, he was called in by God, into that mission. They made an altar call after the preacher had preached. He went forward, knelt in public, cried out for forgiveness, and God miraculously saved him. He left a $3000 baseball contract and he became one of the greatest missionaries and evangelists that the world has ever known.I want to say to you today, I don't know where you are today, maybe you feel there's no hope for you? “I don't think that I have a second chance.” I want to tell you today, call upon the name of the Lord and He will hear you like He heard Billy Sunday and He will save you and give you a brand new life. “Whosoever” means literally any person, regardless of who, calls upon the name of Jesus Christ shall be saved. It happened to me, it can happen to you. I want to pray the sinner's prayer with you right now. Father God, In the name of Jesus Christ and by the power of the Holy Spirit, I repent of all my sins, and I ask you once more to be the Lord of my life.Amen.Go out now and tell the first three people you meet what you've done. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 14th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 20:15-16, where Mary Magdalene asks the man standing there, “Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.” ”Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher).”She heard His voice and recognised Him immediately, but she didn't recognise Him when she saw Him standing there. She thought He was the gardener: “Sir, please tell me where you have put Him and I will take Him away', and the voice, it was the voice that she knew. I want to ask you a question this morning, and I am asking myself the same question, do we know His voice? Mary knew the voice of Jesus. Straight away she said, “Rabboni!” I have heard that many young Muslims in Iran at the moment are having dreams, and they are seeing a Man dressed in a white robe with eyes of fire, talking to them. Now I want you to read the Word of God and you will see in the Book of Revelation, that is the description of Jesus Christ. In 2003, I was in the game reserve in the north of Kwazulu-Natal, and the Lord spoke to me so clearly in my heart, “Go home, cancel all of your preaching appointments. I want you to mentor young men.” That was the foundation and the beginning of the Mighty Men phenomenon that is going right around the world as I speak to you today. This very year, we are having Mighty Men Conferences in Europe, in Australasia, in America, all over Africa - and we give the glory to God. Today, you need to really start to listen to the voice of God. “But” you say to me, “how will we know His voice?” Well, how do you know the voice of anyone? How do you know my voice? Because you listen to it and you hear it every single morning. Isn't that right? People meet me at the airport. They don't know what I look like but when I open my mouth they turn around and they say, “We know who that is” because they hear my voice. Now, when you spend time with Jesus Christ every single day, you will learn to hear His voice and He will direct you, and by the way, He says very clearly in Revelation 22:20, He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen! Today, let us hear the voice of God. He will comfort you, He will direct you and most of all, He will love you!Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 13th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Exodus 34:2: “So be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself to Me there on the top of the mountain.” That is the Lord speaking to Moses early in the morning. Then we go to the Gospel of Mark 1:35: ”Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” That was Jesus Himself, early in the morning, the best time of the day. I have told you this many, many times. We need to start the day early in the morning with the Lord. Joseph Parker was a great preacher. He lived a long time ago and this is what he wrote:Sweet morning, there is hope in it's music,Blessed is the day whose morning is sanctified (set aside), Successful is the day whose first victory was won in prayer,Holy is the day whose dawn finds you on top of the mountain.(Listen to this) Health is established in the morning,Wealth is won in the morning,The light is brightest in the morning. We will stop there. I want to say to you today, it is time to start getting up a little bit earlier in the morning. Now, when Martin Luther, the great reformer was really, really busy, they said to him, “What do you do when your day is so busy? How do you handle it? Do you know what he said? He said, “I get up earlier in the morning.” So in other words, he didn't make his quiet time shorter because of the busy schedule for the day. No, he kept his quiet time the same length. He just got up earlier.I really want to encourage you to do that because that is what I have been doing for many, many years. The Lord speaks to me clearly early in the morning before the things of the world clutter up my mind. I get specific direction from Him, comfort from Him, health from Him. Set this time aside. Let your family know, let your children know, let your wife know, “I am spending time with God”, and they will not only respect you for that but they will also feel secure. Dad is praying, he is spending time with the Lord. Mom is praying, she is spending time with the Lord. Do you know what that does for children? It gives them security. Now, if you want to hear from God, get up in the morning. Maybe you need to go to bed a little bit earlier at night. Jesus bless you and have a beautiful quiet time this morning.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 12th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Galatians 6:7: (Amplified Version) “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked [He will not allow Himself to be ridiculed, nor treated with contempt nor allow His precepts to be scornfully set aside]; for whatever a man sows, this and this only is what he will reap.” Wow! Strong words, a warning to us, a caution - be careful what you are sowing. Now you know, as a farmer, I understand the importance of sowing good seed. It is the most important part for any arable farmer, he will tell you, because whatever he sows, whatever he plants in that field, that is what he is going to reap. The worst thing a farmer can ever do is to hold back some of his finances and buy cheap, inferior seed because from the start he is going to lose. Now, one big seed company had a slogan which I often use and I think it is very appropriate and this is what it says, “Good seed doesn't cost, it pays.” Now, what good seed are we talking about? We are talking about sowing love, we are talking about sowing patience, understanding, we are talking about being generous, we are talking about taking care of widows and orphans, we are talking about sowing into the word of God. That's good seed. We are sowing love in our families, patience with our children, loving our husbands and our wives. Good seed - what you sow is what you reap. I have seen it so many times in my life, and if you sow bad seeds like self-centredness, anger, hatred, or greed, that is exactly what you will reap.I want to pray for you this morning that you and I will start sowing only good seed in our lives, and that God will guarantee we will reap a bountiful harvest. Let us pray:Father,I want to pray this morning for my dear friend listening today to this thought for today. Oh Jesus, through the power of Your Holy Spirit, convict them today to stop being selfish, to stop being so concerned about ourselves that we forget our fellowman. Help us to be patient and kind and gentle, because we know that what we sow is what we eventually will reap.We ask this in Jesus' precious name, amen.Have a wonderful day. Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 11th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Numbers 14:24: ”But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.” What a promise from God! Do you know that Joshua and Caleb were 80 years old when their real work began, when they had to take over from Moses and take a grumbling, moaning, rebellious nation into the promised land? What a task. God loved Caleb. You know Caleb had a spirit that was totally different to anybody else's. When Joshua said to Caleb, right at the end, ”Because of your faithfulness, you can have anything you want.” He said, ”Give me the big mountains where the big giants live.” Over 80 years old. Now come on boys, come on ladies, it's never too late. Faithfulness, even when the crowd did not remain faithful! If I had to ask you, ”Give me one word to describe Caleb?” He was faithful, that's what he was, and that's why God loved him so much. He did not become discouraged by what other people thought of him. He refused to be influenced by the negative talk and attitude of the majority. He remained steadfast, keeping his eyes fixed on God, right through his lifetime. He didn't blow hot and cold, and he didn't allow the tough things in life to keep him back from the fight, and of course, what happened? Yes, he had the victory. Today, many of you, including me must be careful that the fear of man does not hold us back. Caleb had no fear of man. He didn't care what people thought of him; his only concern was what God thought of him. Today, ask God to give you that same different spirit, not the spirit of this world but the Spirit of God, the Spirit that is resolute. Hebrews 12:1:”Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses…” We've got people in heaven that are cheering us on, we've got to finish strong! We've got to be like Caleb. We've got to be leaders.Jesus Christ bless you today as you remain faithful to God. He will not let you down. Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 10th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Luke 24:51:”… while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.” Then we go to Acts 1:11:“…Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” Then the last scripture is Hebrews 12:1:”Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,…” Jesus is coming back again! Oh Lord, we can't wait. Today would not be soon enough. He's coming back the same way He left. He left from the top of the Mount of Olives just outside Jerusalem. He said He's coming back again to fetch you and me. Oh Granny, keep strong! Oh, Grandad, keep your eyes lifted up! Young man, young lady just keep running the race! That is the way we are going to finish this race.I am what you call a cloud watcher. Every day when I get up, and I look at those magnificent clouds building up, I say, ”Lord, is it today?” He's coming back the same way He left. He's coming back from heaven to earth in the clouds to come and to fetch you and me and to take us home to be with Him in glory, but until that time, you and I have to keep on running this race. Keep on looking up, opening our eyes and thanking Jesus for every single opportunity every day we have to sow good seed because He's coming back, as He promised, to take us home to be with Him in paradise. So today, remember, if Christ is for us, who can possibly stand against us. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 9th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in 2 Samuel 22:36: “Your gentleness has made me great”. That is what King David said about God. Then we go to Matthew 19:14: “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”What had happened was that the disciples were trying to chase the little children away from Jesus because He was very tired. Gentleness - gentleness means mild, kind, tender, sympathetic, understanding, compassionate, soft. Oh, my dear friend, you can gauge the heart of a man or a woman by the way they treat little children. As I get older, I am becoming observant of that very fact. I will go to a crowded place, I will sit quietly and watch the way the people treat the little children. The man who can stop in his busyness and get down on his knees so he has the same eye contact as a little child, and say, “How are you?” - and speak to them, oh, that is a man who is really walking with God. William Arnott said, “The gentleness of Christ is the comeliest ornament that a Christian can wear.” - The most beautiful ornament. When I see a man or a woman get down on their knees sometimes in the dust, just to engage a small child, I see the gentleness of Christ, and it is like a very special ornament. It warms them to my soul. On the other hand, unfortunately, if a man or a woman is too busy, too busy organising things, too busy running around, they just about run over the top of the children; there is a problem there. Check your heart. What would Jesus do? I tell you what He would do. He would stop the show! He would stop the meeting because one little child just wanted to greet Him, and probably give them a wonderful hug and love them. Let's do that today. Have a blessed and gentle day today.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 8th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Psalm 34:19: “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him from them all.” Then we go to Romans 5:3-4. Paul says: “And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.” I looked up the Oxford Dictionary to find out the literal meaning of the word “persecution” It said, “subject to prolonged hostility and ill treatment.” How many people are being persecuted today in the world? Probably more than ever before. We are hearing about atrocities taking place in India, where Christian churches are being burnt down, and Christians are being martyred for their faith. We hear about the church in China, also severely persecuted, never mind the Middle East - what about Syria? The Lord is with us even though the persecution is increasing. But what I want to talk to you about today is not the persecution in the churches around the world. I am talking about at home, oh yes, in your very own home. Mom, dad, stop hassling your children because they want to go to church. Please don't do that. I want to say to dad, don't worry if you are getting persecuted at work because of your stand for Jesus Christ. The Lord says that He will deliver you from them all. I want to say to that young student, that young girl who is standing tall for the Lord, “Uncle Angus, it is like I am all on my own.” No, you're not all on your own. Remember the prophet said that and the Lord said, “There are another 7,000 prophets in the next valley.” But stand tall, do not compromise your faith for anybody or anything. Even that relationship that you are in, young man. Control yourself until the day of your wedding, otherwise you will get yourself into a terrible position and you will be persecuted for your actions. We really need to rejoice when we are hard-pressed, because that means we are doing something right. People don't like what you are doing because they don't like the stand you are making for Christ. So if you don't drink alcohol, that is fine, but don't compromise for the sake of being popular. Today, stand tall because He will deliver you from all of those persecutors. Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 7th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Numbers 14:9: “…and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.”Then, of course, we go to that well-known scripture in 2 Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” The only thing we have to fear today is fear itself. Now remember, twelve spies went into the Land of Milk and Honey, and they came back with a report. Two of them with a good report and ten with a bad report: “There are giants in there, and if we go in there they are going to kill us”. But you see, Joshua and Caleb, and by the way, they were not youngsters (those men were in their eighties), they said, “We need to go up.” They had their eyes on Jesus, the other ten spies had their eyes on the situation and that is maybe your problem today and mine - our eyes are on the wrong place! The only thing we need to fear is fear itself. How do you combat fear? I can hear some ladies saying to me, “But how do I get rid of this fear?” Well, it is a very simple answer. It is found in Romans 10:17: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” That is how you get rid of fear, by faith, not anything else, and you get faith by reading your Bible and also believing it. Remember, faith is not a feeling. Faith is a fact, it is a reality, and that is how Joshua and Caleb lived, and they went into the Promised Land by faith, faith in God.I want to tell you about fear and what fear can do to you. Fear paralyses you. My one son is a horse trainer, and he told me a while back that I should know that, I am also riding horses. He said, “Dad, when you are within one metre, that is three feet, from a horse, that horse knows whether you are afraid or not, and that will determine how that horse responds to you, because if you are afraid of that horse, straight away that horse wonders, “Why is that person afraid?” And they become very fearful themselves, and that is when they sometimes bolt or they try and buck you off, but if you walk up to that horse in faith and love, pat him nicely on the neck and hug him and say, “Hello my boy, today, you and I are going for a ride”, then you'll enjoy your ride. Remember, God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.Have a wonderful day,Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 6th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 21:22: ”Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.” That's what Jesus said to Peter when Peter wanted to know what was going to happen to John. I think the Lord is saying to you and me this morning that what other people are doing is not your business. They belong to God and God will deal with them in His own time.I think of Saul of Tarsus, who persecuted the Christians terribly, and then he got converted, and became Paul the Apostle. Probably, in my humble opinion, the greatest of all the apostles in the Bible, and I can hear a young man, a young girl, saying, ”I wish that I could be like Paul the Apostle.” Well if you look at 2 Corinthians 11:23, you will see how much it cost Paul to be an apostle for Jesus Christ. He gives a whole list of what he went through to follow the Master in his calling. Jesus gives us enough grace for our work and our calling. He says that His grace is sufficient for you and me. Do not be concerned about how other people are living. “Can you drink of the cup?” That's what He asked James and John. They said, ”We can.” And He said, ”and you will.” I want to tell you that 1 Timothy 6:6, is a very special scripture to me, ”Now godliness with contentment is great gain.” Be satisfied with your lot, where you are in life, and be grateful to God, and pray for those who have a tremendous burden to carry, but don't ask for things that you cannot handle, because those will trip you up eventually. The Lord knows how much you can take, and as He said to Peter, ”It's got nothing to do with you, what I'm going to do with John. You follow me.”Today, follow the Lord and be content with what you've got.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 5th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Joshua 14:8: ”Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the Lord my God.” Then we go to Numbers 13:33: ”There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” Oh folks, how do you feel this morning? Do you feel like a son of God or do you feel like a grasshopper? That's the question we need to ask ourselves. What is that giant in your life that is holding you back today from being an obedient child of God? You see the devil calls us grasshoppers. He says, you'll never make it, you're a failure, you messed up once before or twice or three times and you are done and dusted. No no! Jesus says that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Do you remember that beautiful song? It was written many years ago and some of the lyrics sound like this: When others see a shepherd boy, God may see a king,Even though your life seems filled with ordinary things, In just a moment, He can touch you and everything will change,When others see a shepherd boy, God may see a king.I want to say to you today, God did not create you or me to be grasshoppers. He created us to be the sons of God. “Yes Angus, but you don't know what I'm going through.” No I don't, but I know that anything is possible and all things are possible for those who believe. Remember those two words, “But God”. When people say, ”You'll never make it.” You say, “But God”. When people say, ”You've got no education, you'll never qualify”, “But God”. When people say, ”You will never be healed, you are dying.” You say, “But God”. Now I want to pray for you, and I want to pray that God will turn you and me from grasshoppers into kings, into princes, into princesses.Father, I pray in Jesus name, for my friend who is listening to this program right now. Lord, change our outlook. Change our attitude. We are not grasshoppers, we are sons and daughters of the living God. In Jesus name, amen.God bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 4th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to John 21:12: “Jesus said to them, “Come and eat breakfast.” Then further down in verse 15, Jesus says to Peter: “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?”Every time the Lord Jesus wanted to speak very directly, personally and intimately with his disciples, what did He say? “Come and have a meal.” In fact, the last time that He had a meal with His disciples, in the Upper Room, He taught them some very important truths. He taught them that if we are going to be servants of the Lord, then we have to humble ourselves. It is an intimate time, isn't it, having a meal. There is no rushing, it is a heart-to-heart normally, because that is exactly what happened on the shore of the Sea of Galilee when Jesus asked Simon Peter, the most important question of all. “Do you love Me?” “Oh”, he says, “yes, I love You, Lord.” And then Jesus said, “Feed My lambs.” And of course, the disciples did just that.I love going into Central Africa and into the rural areas, where the people are very poor, but so loving and so generous. When you are invited into one of those huts, you sit in a circle and they bring in their meagre food. It is normally a big bowl of maize meal, and then they bring in a smaller bowl of the delicacy of meat made with beautiful gravy. We sit in a circle, and we take some of the maize meal and we make it into a round ball and then we very carefully dip it into the relish and we eat, but the main purpose is we talk to each other and we love each other. Two of my children's weddings were breakfast weddings. The one was in our farm shed and we sat around and spoke together for hours. Today, spend time with someone, invite them for breakfast and tell them about the Lord Jesus Christ. Have a wonderful day and enjoy your breakfast.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 3rd of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the last book of the Bible, Revelation 3:20: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.“ So often we want to receive from God. How often do we want to give God what we have? I can hear somebody say, “I have got nothing to give Him.” Oh yes, you have plenty to give Him. Do you remember the little boy that Jesus asked the disciples to find out if any of the men, 5000 of them, had anything, any food, to give Him? I am sure many of those men had food, but they were not giving it to Jesus. There was a little boy, his mommy had probably packed him a little lunch bag and said, “There are two little sardines and five little barley loaves of bread. You go and have that lunch when you go and listen to Jesus.” He gave his all to Jesus. Jesus took it, prayed over it, multiplied it and fed 5000 men. But you see, the little boy gave to Jesus. Now, this Bible verse is two-fold. The Lord said, “I will come in and dine with you and you with Me.” Now, what is it that we can give to the Lord? Well, I want to tell you a little story. My wife, Jill, and I were up in Central Africa many years ago, staying with a very poor family. These Zambians had very little to eat, but this pastor had a small congregation. His congregation came every day, and they brought one egg each, and those eggs were to feed Jill and me. We had two fried eggs every morning, and every morning they brought food for us. Now, we had plenty of food, and they knew that, but they brought what they had to us. That touched me so deeply. I didn't even want to eat the eggs, but I knew if I didn't, I would have offended them. So I ate those eggs heartily and thanked them, and blessed them for their love towards Jill and I. I want to tell you, Jesus today is saying, “What have you got for me? I am coming in to dine with you, to eat your food, and I want you to eat My food.” We need to share what we have with one another because He says “As much as you have done it unto the least of these, My brethren, you have done it to Me.” If you feed someone today who cannot repay you, you are feeding the Lord. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 2nd of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Luke 5:5: “But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” Then we know what happened after that. He caught so many fish that the net was breaking, and he had to call the other disciples to help him pull in a massive catch. Then we go to Galatians 6:9: “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Once more, once more - you say, “I can't.” You can and you must. Cast it out once more, cast that net out. “But we have tried everything, and it is not working." “Once more”, the Lord said to the disciples. They said, “We have been fishing all night. He said, “Once more.”Remember the story, I think I have told it to you maybe a few years ago, about the Scottish King, Robert the Bruce. He was getting a terrible hiding from the English, and he was hiding in a cave. He was just about all done. He had tried everything, and he sat in that cave, and he saw a spider. This spider was trying to swing across the mouth of the cave from one side to the other, and he watched it. It tried once, it failed, it tried twice, it failed, it tried three times and it failed. It kept doing it and eventually got to the other side. That Scottish King went outside, he rallied his troops, and he won the battle.I want to say to you today, I don't know what it is, maybe it is healing that you are looking for for your body. Maybe it's a relationship. You say, “I just can't do any more.” Once more, go and see them once more, cast your net out once more. That crop that I planted, nothing is coming up. Plant again. Those animals that I am trusting for, for healing, just keep on trusting God and He will see you through. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 1st of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Numbers 12:4: “Suddenly the Lord said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, ”Come out you three, to the tabernacle of meeting!” So the three came out.' Then we go to Ephesians 5:22:”Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.” Then verse 25: ”Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her,…” Then the last one is Ephesians 6:1: ”Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.” We're talking about family. You know it's the hardest place to be a Christian, in your own home! Let's be honest with each other this morning. We are talking about an incredible family. Aaron, Moses and Miriam. Do you know that Miriam was the older sister of Moses and Aaron was Moses' older brother, he was Moses' right-hand man? This wasn't just any family. This was a very special family in God's eyes and yet they fell out. They had an argument, so badly that God had to intervene, and He told them to behave themselves.I want to say to you today, you have been put in a family by God. You can't choose your family, can you? Yes, what do they say? You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family. We need to work it out. Now God put a system in the family and this is how it works, I'm telling you, it says it in the Bible: Wives, you are to submit to your husbands, husbands you are to love your wives, and the Bible says, children you are to obey your parents. If you get that right then you are going to have a very special family. So what can we do about it? Number one, we need to start praying together every day. ”No, but I don't want to.” It's not about what you want. It's about what God wants. Pray together, all of you, whether it's in the morning before you go to school, or go to work, or whether it's in the evening before you go to bed, pray together. What's the next thing? Talk to each other. Sit down and talk about it. That's exactly what happened with Moses, Aaron and Miriam and God sorted it out.I remember an old couple. They told me that they used to lie on their bed on a Sunday afternoon and talk about all the things that had gone wrong during the week, and ask each other for forgiveness and get ready to face the new week. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day together as a family. Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 28th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Old Testament, Numbers 11:18:“Who will give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” The complaining Children of Israel, short memories! They forgot about the slave-drivers, how they were beaten, working 18 hours a day, 7 days a week. No, they wanted to go back to Egypt. There is no future in the past. I want you to remember that, my dear friend. So then we go to the Gospel of John 21:3. Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” We have got such short memories. We forget from where we have come. Yes, things are tough. I will be the last one to tell you that they are easy. We are struggling in every area: politically, economically, spiritually, and in our work situation, but there is no going back for you and me. Isn't it an amazing thing (well, I can only speak for myself), you always seem to remember “the good old days” but you don't remember the bad old days. Folks, I want to tell you, as believers we have got the most glorious future waiting for us. When we go home, we are going to be with Jesus Christ because He has promised us that if we serve Him faithfully and believe, we will never die.Do you remember what it was like when we didn't know Christ? We used to get so depressed, didn't we? Because there was no future. We didn't know where we were going. We had no guarantee of anything and yet we, now and again, hanker for the old days. They weren't such good old days, were they? Be honest, because we didn't sleep very well at night. No, because we didn't know what was going to happen in the future. We need to look forward. We need to keep going. Peter and the disciples went fishing. They caught nothing the whole night until Jesus, in the morning, told them to become fishers of men, to keep the calling, keep the vision, keep going forward, and God will go with us. We are not going back to Egypt. There is nothing there for you and me, so today push those shoulders back, lift up that head and say, “It doesn't matter how tough it is, I am going forward because I am homeward bound.”Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 27th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Old Testament, Jeremiah 20:9:“But His word was in my heart like a burning fireShut up in my bones;I was weary of holding it back,And I could not.”Then we go to the Gospel of John 1:45:“Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” Once you have heard the good news, once you have met the Man from Galilee, you can't keep it quiet, can you? You can't keep it to yourself. You have to tell people, “We have found the Lord.” I mean folks, they say that a new christian should be locked up for the first six months because he is like a bull in a china shop. He wants to tell everybody about what he has found. Oh, but there is something so beautiful about it, isn't it? It is like sitting around a warm fire on a cold night, being next to a young man or a young woman who has, for the first time in their lives, found the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. James Hudson Taylor took the Gospel to China, and when he had been there for some time and led some converts to Christ, he went back to England to get more missionaries to come out and help him. When he came back, a young Chinese man spoke to him. He said, “How long have you had the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Britain?” And he said, “For thousands of years”, and then he asked the question, he said “Why did it take you so long to come and tell us? My old dad searched for the truth all his life. He studied Confucius. He studied many of the gods, and he never found Him. He died as an unbeliever. Why did you take so long?”I want to say to you today my dear friends, somebody out there is just waiting to hear the good news about who Jesus is. Please don't waste time. Tell them.God bless you have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 26th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Numbers 11:16: “So the Lord said to Moses: “Gather to Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them;…” Then we go straight to the Gospel of Mark 6:7: “And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two,…” Moses realised he just could not cope anymore. He was directing a whole nation of people in the wilderness and he had no help. He was doing it on his own, and the people were getting restless and complaining, “We need meat to eat. In Egypt, we had meat and fish and melons and all those things, and now we have nothing.” Moses was beside himself. You can read it in Numbers, just a few verses before. He said, “Rather kill me. I can't do this anymore.” And God said to him, “Call seventy men, good men, leaders, and I will anoint them, and they will help you to take the nation of Israel through the wilderness and into the promised land. Then we see Jesus, when he was sending the disciples out to preach the Gospel and heal the sick and set the captives free, he sent them out two by two, not one at a time, two by two. There are no lone-rangers in the Kingdom of God, no one-man shows. Why did He send them out two by two? I will tell you why - so that they could protect one another and there was accountability so the devil could not tempt them. I want to say to you, I will not go anywhere to preach the Gospel on my own. We go in a group. You know that if you know me. Why is that? So that we can watch over one another, help one another, pray with one another, protect one another. It's how God made us.I remember speaking to a young man. I love him dearly. He is a great preacher. He was on his way to Ethiopia, just for the weekend to speak at a conference. I said, “Who is going with you?” “No, no”, he said, “It is a short trip. I am going on my own.” And I had to speak to him firmly, and I trust that he has listened. I said, “Don't do that.” Do not go anywhere on your own when you are doing God's work. You need to go two by two so that you can look after each other. Not only preachers, I am talking to ladies here as well as young people. When you go out, you do not go on your own. God never created us to do that. We go together and in that is the comfort and the love and the peace of God.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 25th February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Mark 13:34: “…and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch.” The Lord was talking about the man who went away and told each of his workers to do their work. Now I read something interesting from an unknown writer. This is what it says: “He does the most for God's great world who does the best in his own little world.” Maybe you are thinking today, “What do I contribute to God's kingdom? Nobody knows who I am. What is the point of my being alive?” Oh my dear friend, to everyone his own work for the Lord. I want to tell you a little story. My mom's brother was a Chief Engineer in the Merchant Navy during the Second World War. Now, the Merchant Navy had no way of defending itself against the enemy. They had no way of fighting back. What was their job? To bring food to Britain, because Britain was an island, and they had to bring food from America and Canada and all over, and they had no way. Those boats were so old and so rickety that they travelled so slowly that they were sitting ducks for the enemy. Now, my uncle was a Chief Engineer, so he never, ever came to the top when there was an alarm that there were submarines in the water. He had to stay under the water level with all his men and keep the engines going, because if the engines stopped, the boat would sink. No-one saw him. They all saw the Captain. The Captain was on the bridge. He was at the top, he was directing operations. Everyone saw the Captain, but no one saw the Engineer. They were under the water level.I want to tell you that God sees every single thing that you do. Maybe nobody else sees, but you don't want anybody else to see, do you? Because you want to get your reward when you get home to Heaven. So do your little bit. Do not despise small beginnings. Jesus Christ knows exactly what you are doing, and He loves you, and He is so proud of you. Remember, without the engine room that ship is going nowhere. Maybe that is your job. Keep the engine room going - intercessors, prayer warriors, workers in the background, because we love you very much.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 24th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 20:25. Thomas said: “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” Folks, there is nothing worse than doubting. We need to stop doubting and we need to start believing. They talk about Thomas being the doubting Thomas but I want to say to you that Thomas eventually believed. Eight days later, the Lord came and stood in the midst of them and He said to Thomas, ”Thomas, put your finger here and look at my hands and reach your hand here and put it into my side and do not be unbelieving but believing.” Verse 28 - the Bible tells us that when Thomas saw this, he said, ”My Lord and my God.” Thomas did eventually believe and he believed so much that he went to India to preach the Gospel and there he was martyred. I want to say something to you. It is better to have doubted and then believe, than to have never believed at all. Of course, once you see, then you don't need faith, do you? But to believe, having not seen Jesus, is a wonderful thing and that's what Jesus said to Thomas, ”There will be those who come after you who have never seen me and yet believe.”It is so sad for me when people are determined not to believe the word of God. There is more evidence that Jesus Christ walked on this earth than there is that Julius Caesar existed. Why is it that our hearts become so hardened? I want to say to you today, you really need to believe by faith. I want to pray for you because I believe there are some people who are listening to this thought for the day every morning, but you still don't believe. Now please, if you want more faith to believe that Jesus Christ not only is alive, not only is He the saviour of the world, but that He's coming back soon, pray this prayer after me: Dear Lord Jesus, please forgive me for doubting You. Lord, when I look around and I see the devastation in the world, I find it hard to believe, but today I choose by faith to believe that You, Jesus Christ, are the Son of the living God. Amen.God bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 23rd of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Old Testament, in the Book of Numbers 11:1: ‘Now when the people complained, it displeased the Lord; for the Lord heard it, and His anger was aroused. So the fire of the Lord burned among them and consumed some in the outskirts of the camp.' God does not enjoy it when we are moaning all the time. Rather, let us call upon the Lord. If we look at Jeremiah 33:3: “Call to Me, and I will answer you”, He says, “and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Rather, ask the Lord and stop moaning. Then we go to the Gospel of Luke 9:54: “And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?” And of course, the Lord said no. He did not come to destroy men's lives. He came to save them.We really need to watch what we say. We have so much, don't we? And yet we tend to complain and moan. Stop moaning. Rather, bring your petitions to the Lord and ask Him, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to help you, and He will. So let us today decide to stop moaning. There is nothing worse than when you wake up in the morning and your loved one, your husband or your wife, turns over and you say, “Good morning, my darling, I love you”, and then they start to moan. Man, it takes the joy of the Lord out of it, doesn't it?Let's start saying things which are up-building and uplifting. If you have nothing good to say about someone, rather don't say anything at all. Remember, Jesus Christ came to save the lost. Pray for those who are complaining, that they will see that the Lord is for them, and not against them.Jesus bless you and have a full day of praising His name,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 22nd of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in that very well-known Psalm 46:10. It says: “Be still, and know that I am God;…” Then we go to the Book of Acts 16:25-26: “But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed.”I remember many, many years ago, being invited to the maximum-security prison in Pretoria, and we had a wonderful meeting with those men. Those men sang their hearts out for the Lord, and as I was leaving the prison, walking through those dark corridors, one of the men who invited me said, ”You see down that passage?” I said, “Yes”. He said, “That is where the convicted criminals in the old days used to walk to the gallows where they were hung for their crimes.” And he said to me, “And Angus, they were singing hymns, every single one of them, so we trust that they repented.”What about you today? Where are you today? Are you sick in your body today? Are you so stressed out because you don't have a job? Is your business collapsing? Is it drought? Is it the Foot and Mouth disease? What is it that is pulling you down? I have just come from a men's prayer meeting where we have been singing and it lifted that chapel's roof. I want to sing with you today, but I want you to sing with me please. I am going to sing as best I can and you do the same, and let those shackles fall off you today. We are going to sing that beautiful hymn, “Be still and know that I am God.” It goes like this: Be still and know that I am God,be still and know that I am God,be still and know that I am God.I am the Lord that healeth thee.I am the Lord that healeth thee.I am the Lord that healeth thee.In Thee, O Lord, do I put my trust,in Thee, O Lord, do I put my trust,in Thee, O Lord, do I put my trust.God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 21st of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Proverbs 27:1: ”Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth.” Then we go straight to the Gospel of Luke 12:19. This is a parable that Jesus told about a foolish farmer who had a bumper crop and was bragging about how he was going to build another barn to hold his crop and then he was going to eat, drink and be merry. Listen to the story: ”And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease (take it easy); eat, drink, and be merry.” But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?' Luke 12:19-20Carpe Diem - that is a Latin phrase. It means “seize the day”, make the most of the present. I read a beautiful little quotation from a man of God. It says, ”The only preparation for tomorrow is the right use of today.” Think about that. We need to start living for today and stop always talking about tomorrow because we don't have tomorrow, we only have today.I had a very dear friend, he used to farm right next door to me and early in the morning we would stop our pickups, get out and we'd have a little chat across the fence, and Alan used to say to me, “Angus, take time out to smell the roses”, and it brings a tear to my eye. Alan was a huge man, and he met Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour. Alan is no longer with us, he has already gone home to be with the Lord, but he used to caution me, ”Stop running around so much Angus. You're flying off here, you're going off to that place, you're going there. Take time out to smell the roses and do it with your wife.”I want to say to the men today, when was the last time you smelled the roses with your dear wife? Take note, because tomorrow is not ours, we only have today. Seize the day! Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, 20th February 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of Matthew 5:9. Jesus says: “Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.”Peace (Shalom) - that is actually the name of our farm. It is the hallmark of a follower of Jesus Christ. Now some young people are asking the question, “What does the word 'hallmark' mean?” Well, I looked it up. This is what the literal definition of a hallmark is: It is a mark stamped on articles of gold, silver or platinum by the British assay officers certifying their standard of purity. So when you go into a jeweller's shop, and you want to buy a very special article, you normally turn it upside down, and you will see a hallmark stamped on it to certify that it is pure. Now, the hallmark of a follower of Jesus Christ is peace, and folks, come on let's be honest, where do you ever find peace in these days? Wherever Jesus went, the first thing he would say was “Shalom”, which means peace, the shalom of God be with you. “Blessed are the peacemakers”, the Lord says, “because they shall be called the sons of God”. Not peace-lovers - no, no, no! A peace-lover will do anything to have peace. A peace-maker sometimes has to cause trouble in order to bring peace. Remember before the Lord was betrayed, what did He do? He washed the disciples' feet. Have you ever had your feet washed? I have. It is a very humbling thing. A man came to see me once and he said, “I want to speak to you”, so I went to see him. He was standing outside and he brought out a basin, he brought out a towel, he even brought a container with water in it. He said, “I want to wash your feet, Angus.” I said, ”No, I don't feel worthy, please…” “The Lord has sent me here to wash your feet”. It was a very humbling thing and the peace of God was present with that man. I will never forget it as long as I live. Let us go out today and be a band of feet-washers that tell people and show people the love of God through the peace in our hearts.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 19th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Isaiah 43:1. The Lord says: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.”We serve a personal God. He is not just the God or the Creator of 8 Billion people, He knows you by name, and will prove that to you if you go to John 20:16: This was Jesus now after the resurrection when Mary Magdalene went down to the tomb to find the Lord's body and of course it wasn't there, and then she thought the gardener was there. She didn't recognise the Lord. She thought it was the gardener, and she wanted to know, “What have you done with the body of my Lord?' Listen to this: “Jesus said to her, “Mary!”She turned and said to Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher).” She recognised Him when He called her by her name. A person's name - it is so important. I remember when I was a little boy, my dad would come out and say, “Angus”, just once, and I knew exactly who it was, and I knew it was time to come in, no arguments. What about you today? Do you know His name? Is He personal to you? Is He a friend to you, who sticks closer than a brother? Oh my dear friend, if there is one thing I am looking forward to, it is the day I go home to be with Jesus in Heaven, and I want to hear Him say, “Angus, well done, good and faithful servant, come and enter into thy fullness!” That is what I want. I just want to hear my name called by the Creator of Heaven and Earth. What a privilege!Names are so important. I have done many, many weddings. When I was younger, I had the privilege of marrying off three of my own children, and the beautiful thing is, after you have said the vows and the ring has been put on the finger then I love to just stand there saying, “Ladies and Gentlemen, I now want to introduce you to Mr and Mrs…..and then you can put, “Joseph” or whatever the man's name is, and I tell you what, I always like to look at the face of that young bride. She now has his name, and then I see his face and he now has his beautiful wife.Don't forget the importance of names. Try and remember people's names. It means so much to them.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 18th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Matthew 27:57-58: “Now when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him.” I want to speak to you today about being doers of the word. Today is a special day today in our lives! My wife, Jill and I and our family, on this day, 47 years ago, we bowed the knee, and we gave our lives to Jesus Christ, a wonderful day for us. We were in a little church in the Main Street of Greytown, the little town which is 15 kms away from the farm, but that day, the minister didn't preach, there were laymen and women preaching the Gospel, just like Joseph of Arimathea. He wasn't a priest - no, he was a businessman, and that day we saw businessmen, housewives, builders, mechanics come forward and tell the congregation what Christ had done for them, and for the first time in my life I saw tears running down their faces. Our marriage was in a mess, and we came to Jesus and He restored us. My relationship with my children was shattered, and we came to Jesus, and He changed our lives. After we had finished, it was a wonderful sermon. I didn't see any shots of lightning, I didn't hear any thunder, but I knew in my heart that I had given my life to Christ. We came home, Jill and I, and sat in the garden to have a cup of tea together, a car rolled up and out came an electrician, and he said, “I was in the service today, and I saw that you went forward and gave your lives to Christ. I said, “Yes, I did.” He said, “I want to challenge you to tell the first three people you meet and tell them what you did today”. I said, “I will,” and I did the next day. On the way to a stock sale, myself and Ian Walls, I said, “Ian, something happened to me yesterday.” He said, “What?” I said, “I gave my life to Christ.” That was the beginning of my work for Jesus Christ which I have never stopped since then. What about you? When was the last time you told a person that you gave your life to Christ? Maybe you say, “Angus, I never have. I have always loved God but I have never had the opportunity. Why don't you do it now? Pray this prayer after me:Dear Lord Jesus,Just like Joseph of Arimathea, I am an ordinary working man and today I surrender my life to You. I give You everything.Forgive me for my sinful life, but from today and onwards, I want to put You first and foremost in my life. In Jesus name, amen.God bless you, and go out and tell the first three people that you meet. Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 17th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Numbers 9:23: ”At the commandment of the Lord they rested in the tents, and at the commandment of the Lord they journeyed…” Then we go to the Gospel of Mark 6:31: ”And He said to them ”Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.” I think the Lord is speaking to somebody very specifically today and saying, ”It is time to come aside and rest. You don't even have time to eat.”Timing is so very important in life. There's a time that you must work, and you must work very hard, and there's a time that you must rest, and you must rest correctly. The children of Israel in the wilderness were told by the Lord, you see, when the cloud moved, they packed up all their tents and they followed the cloud. When the cloud stopped, they stopped, and they set up camp. This happened night and day. Remember a pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day, and that is how they lived for forty years. Now I want to tell you about South Africa's all-time champion marathon runner, Bruce Fordyce. Bruce Fordyce won the gruelling Comrades Marathon no less than nine times consecutively, and why was that? It was all because of timing. I used to love watching him on television, when they all started, all the youngsters were sprinting out of the blocks as they say, and Bruce Fordyce was nowhere to be seen, and then slowly but surely, as the race carried on the young men started falling out, one after the other. I always remember Bruce Fordyce running at his own speed and looking at his watch. He was running according to his time, not according to what everybody else was doing, and he paced himself so perfectly that he won that race consistently. Now we need to take a leaf out of his book. If you and I are going to finish strong for the Lord Jesus Christ, we really need to be sure that we are resting and that we are working, but we need to do it God's way.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 16th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Numbers 8:14: ”Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the children of Israel, and the Levites shall be Mine.” Then we go straight to the Gospel of Luke 6:22 (Amplified Version): ”Blessed [morally courageous and spiritually alive with life-joy in God's goodness] are you when people hate you, and exclude you [from their fellowship], and insult you, and scorn your name as evil because of [your association with] the Son of Man.” Wow, now that is quite something to think about! The Lord says, ”You are blessed when people don't like you because of your stand for Me.” In fact, if you look at verse 23, He says, “Jump for joy because of your reward that you are going to get in heaven.”Now, this morning, I particularly want to dedicate this little message to the young people. I'm talking about school children, I'm talking about university students, I'm talking about young people who are starting out in life, because some of you are taking a lot of strain, I know that, because you are not sleeping around with other people, you are not drugging and drinking, you are not blaspheming. You are not telling filthy stories, and you are not involved with pornography, so the people, the crowd, think that there's something wrong with you. Oh, no - there is nothing wrong with you. The Lord Jesus Christ has separated you unto Himself. He set you aside. He said, ”I've got a special work for you to do. You are very special to me. Keep yourself pure. I have your husband for you. I have your wife for you. You must be patient.” You say, ”How long must we wait, Uncle Angus?” As long as it takes because those other people that seem to be in the flavour of the month, they are going to fall horribly short, and when they do they are coming to you for help.Make yourself strong! Spend time with the Lord, and He has got a very specific and exciting life for you. That goes for all of us, by the way, but the older people have already been through the mill and we have been identified. They don't want us around them because we are salty and we upset their party as it were. So don't be upset because you are lonely, Jesus understands that, but He is a friend who sticks closer than any brother!Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 15th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Mark 15:37,”And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last.” Then we go to John 19:30:”So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” Mission accomplished. The job is done. What an amazing Saviour we have! He didn't stop halfway. He didn't say to His Father in the Garden of Gethsemane, ”Lord, I can't do this.” No, he finished the job. You and I must finish what we have started. You know an unfinished job is very ugly, like a half-built building. Rather don't start than stop halfway through. I looked up how long it took for King Solomon to build the first temple. It took approximately seven years and he finished it. What about the second temple? That took almost twenty to twenty-one years to build. We really need to work hard and finish what we have started.Michelangelo, that wonderful artist, when he painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, it took him four years, folks. He had to build his own scaffold. Can you imagine climbing up there? It is very, very high, and then he did it upside down, but he finished that work of art for the glory of God.That young student who's thinking of dropping out of university, don't do it, finish your degree. That marriage that you are working through, ”Angus, we just can't get it right.” Ask God to help you. Philippians 1:6 says:”being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;” When you start something, you must finish. It's no good saying you started, rather don't start. Finish the job!Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 14th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 19:26:”When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.” That is a very powerful statement.Do you know that the Lord was going through the most excruciating pain known to man? The crucifixion is truly one of the most savage ways to kill a man. He actually suffocates to death at the end because he cannot breathe, and in that time, the Lord Jesus Christ, our Saviour, looked down and He had compassion on His earthly mother and that very special disciple, John. He said to John, ”Look after my mother.” And He said to His mother, ”Look after John.” We need to look after each other unconditionally in these last days in which we are living. Remember charity, which is another word for love, begins at home. Young man, young lady, there's no good saying, ”I want to go overseas and I want to preach the Gospel.” Or “I want to go up into the Congo and I want to take care of those who have got no idea of who the Lord is.” No, the Lord says, ”Charity begins at home.” We need to get our own household in order first before we go out into the world. When I travel, the first thing people ask me when I arrive at a new destination is not what my theological qualification is, it's just as well, but the first thing they ask is, ”How is your wife?” “Oh no, she's fine.” “That's good. How are your children? How are your grandchildren? How are your great-grandchildren?” When we tell them they're fine, ”and how are things on the farm?” Then they say, ”Right, now speak to us, we want to hear what you've got to say.” We need to make sure things are okay at home. It's no good when the wheels are coming off back at the ranch and you're trying to tell people how to live. That is hypocrisy of the first degree. Let us follow in the footsteps of our beloved Master and let us love each other. Have a wonderful day, God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 13th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Psalms 34:19:”Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” Then we go to 1 Corinthians 10:13:”No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” At the moment, in our beloved South Africa, we are facing many trials and tribulations, but God has a word for you and for me today. He says, ”Do not be afraid.”Folks, I am a farmer, I will die a farmer. My wife says you can put me in a three-piece suit and I'll still look like a farmer, and I take that as a great compliment. But seriously, many farmers in our nation have been under the whip extreme. I'm talking about the drought, which in some areas has already broken, praise be to God, and I'm talking about the foot-and-mouth epidemic, which is raging right at our very doorsteps, but the Lord has promised us that he will make a way out.Now what I want to say to you, and I'm not just talking to farmers - I'm talking to wives, children, students, I'm talking to school teachers, I'm talking to doctors, I'm talking to professional sportsmen - It doesn't matter what you're going through as long as you do not give up.No man having put his hand to the plough (come on farmers know that) and looking back is fit for the Kingdom of Heaven - Luke 9:62. We need to press forward. You say to me, ”Angus, I can't anymore.” You can and you must. Why am I bringing this message to you today? Because I am getting letters from the public who are saying, ”I am at the end of my tether. I can't anymore.” I'm telling you that you can and you must, and you will, and you will look back on this time in years to come and you will remember, these were the times when the Lord was the closest to you.Last of all, do not turn your back on God. Do not blame God for anything. Thank Him for His Son, Jesus Christ, who has been through temptations and pain and suffering like none of us even understand, and He came through, and by the way, He's coming back soon one of these days to take us to be with Him in Paradise forever, but until that time, let us press on. Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 12th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 15:13. Jesus said: “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.” What a beautiful scripture! We need to invest in people, not in things. That man of God, Theodore Cuyler, said, “Marble and granite are perishable monuments, and their inscriptions may be seldom read. Carve your names on human hearts, for they alone are immortal.” Investing in people and not in things! I have been to some of the most beautiful churches and cathedrals, built for the glory of God, and I have walked through them. I am thinking of St Paul's Cathedral in London, just as one example, but at the end of the day, we are called to invest in people's lives because they last forever.Do you remember that song that was very popular years ago, about a man who lived, died, and went to Heaven? When he went to Heaven, he was standing with Jesus, and people started coming up to him, thanking him for what he had done for them on earth. He didn't even remember them. First of all, there was that young man who said, “Thank you for what you did for me because you came to our Sunday School when I was only 8 years old and you spoke to us and I gave my life to the Lord, and that is why I am here today. Thank you for giving to the Lord.”Another man came up. He said, “Thank you. A missionary came to your church. He showed you pictures of the needs of people. It made you cry. You gave him money, and because of that money you gave him, I am here today.” A long line of people were lining up to give you thanks and Jesus took your hand, and He said, “Child,” with tears running down your face, “Look at your great reward!” Just a story, but a beautiful one - investing in people! The other day I got a beautiful letter. You see, a while before that, a young student in Central Africa sent me a letter and said, “I can't go on anymore. I am studying to be a doctor, but the course is too hard. What should I do?” And I sent him a little note back, that's all I did. I said, “Keep on pressing on.” And about a year later, I got a beautiful email from him saying that he pressed on and the letter was signed, Dr so and so - He had passed his exams and is now a qualified Christian doctor. Invest in people. It is worthwhile!Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 11th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in 1 John 2:6: “He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.” Wow, a very powerful challenge! The writer here says the preaching this world needs most are “the sermons in shoes” that are walking with Jesus Christ - sermons in shoes.Don't just tell people that Jesus loves them. The Lord says, “But show them that Jesus loves them by our actions.” We need to become Christ-like. It is no good just talking. There has got to be action. Don't tell people that Jesus loves them. Show them that Jesus loves them. Faith is a doing word. It is a verb, it's not a noun. A noun is like a table or a chair or a cupboard. Faith is an action word. So we cannot please God without faith, and he who believes must believe that He is and that He is the Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. I think you will find that in Hebrews 11:6. To give you a practical example of what I am talking about, there is a group of men and women whom I admire greatly. They have a project called “Farming God's Way”, and they are established all over Central and Southern Africa. So they don't take food to the poorest of the poor. No, they teach the poorest of the poor how to grow food for themselves. You know the old story about if you give a person a fish, that's right, he will have enough food for one day but if you teach him how to fish, he'll be able to feed himself everyday. That is what God is looking for - practical, down to earth Christian action.Today, let us put our faith into action by walking the talk.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 10th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 18:31: “Then Pilate said to them, “You take Him and judge Him according to your law.” That is what you call “passing the buck”, compromising, and reneging on your authority. Do you know that Pontius Pilate was the representative of Caesar in Rome? He had the absolute authority to put the thumb up for life or to put it down which meant death. He actually said later on, “I find no fault in this man”. Yes, but they said, “We want you to kill Him.' They wanted the Romans to do the dirty work for them. They protested and Pontius Pilate realised he was about to have a revolution on his hands, an uprising, and he had very few soldiers in Jerusalem at that time. So what did he do? He compromised. Don't we do that, you and I? When the heat is on, and we think, “We are in trouble here”, we compromise. He got a basin, he washed his hands in front of all the Jews that were standing, waiting for judgement to be declared, and he said, ‘I wash my hands of this man. I have nothing more to do with him.” That is called the fear of man. Oh, folks, I want to tell you, it is a dangerous place to be, the fear of man. Because you are in a group of people who are blaspheming, people who mock God, a group of people who think they are just absolutely the best thing that ever happened, they are so brazen, so forthcoming that you just keep quiet. You know, there is a group of conservative followers of Christ where they have made Pontius Pilate a saint because they believe that he did nothing wrong. Well, maybe he didn't do anything wrong but he didn't do anything right either, did he? Remember, his wife had a dream the night before, and she came to her husband and said, “Have nothing to do with this man.” And he took her advice and he told the Jews, “You take Him away. You judge Him according to your law.” Today, people tell us that Jesus Christ is a fake. We can tell them, gently but firmly, “No, no. He is the Son of God.”Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 9th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. “‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, 'Says the Lord of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6What a powerful scripture. Then we go to Matthew 26:52: But Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.” Remember what happened? The High Priest's men came to arrest Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, and Peter took out his sword to defend the Lord and actually cut one of the servant's ears off. Jesus told him to put his sword away.Today, we want to speak about the battle. We need to lay down our swords, the battle belongs to the Lord. I am not talking about the war that is looming between Iran and America. No, I am not talking about a world war, I am talking about the home. I am talking about the war that is taking place between you and your husband. I am talking about the war that is happening at school between you and some of your friends. The weapons of our warfare are not fleshly (carnal) but mighty in God to the pulling down of strongholds. We have got to do it Jesus' way.Jesus told His disciples, “I can call a legion of angels down from Heaven right now and they can destroy all of these enemies of ours, but the Lord did not do that. He said, “If you live by the sword, you will die by the sword.” I heard somebody saying, “I have my rights. I am tired of the arguments. I am calling it a day. I am going to sign the divorce papers. We are out of here.” Then where are you going to go, and what are you going to do? Did you not make a promise on the day that you got married that you would stay together? Well, what has changed? I want to say to you that it takes two to fight. You cannot fight on your own. If you say to your husband, you say to your wife today, “Listen, I am not fighting anymore. I am putting my sword away and I am going to pray. I am going to pray for our relationship, I am going to pray for our children, our wayward children. I am going to pray for the job situation. I am not fighting anymore. The way I am going to fight from today onwards is on my knees. I am going to pray. I am going to use the word of God which is the sword of the Spirit, just like Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane, and He will give me the victory.”It has happened in my own life. I want to ask you to please put the sword away, because that same sword will be the end of you if you don't, and do it Jesus' way. He will bring healing, He will bring forgiveness and He will bring reconciliation in your family. In Jesus' name I pray this. Have a wonderful day, God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 8th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 18:5-6: “They answered Him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am He.” And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them. Now when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.” Then we go right down to verse 8, the same thing again: “Jesus answered, “I have told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way,…” What an incredible Saviour you and I serve, always standing in the gap, always letting others go and Jesus taking the full brunt of any accusation! Jesus said three times, “I am the One you are looking for.” You and I need to start speaking out. We too need to start saying, “Yes, and also am a follower of Jesus Christ.” “Are you one of them?” “Yes, I am.”Speak it out! Let the people know! There is nothing whatsoever to be ashamed of. Remember what the Lord said in the Bible. He said, “If you are ashamed of Me, I will be ashamed of you when I stand before My Father in Heaven.” There is nothing to be ashamed of. Jesus has never let us down, He has never, ever sinned, He has never, ever hurt a child, or a widow, or an orphan, or an older person. No, He has never committed adultery, He has never stolen. We need to speak it out. We need to become more vocal. When people ask us, we need to speak up and say, “Yes, I am a follower of Jesus Christ. He is my Lord and my Saviour. He is my best Friend, He is the One I meet early, every single morning. He is indeed a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”I want to say to you today, like never before, you and I need to speak out when people ask us, “And who do you follow?” Then we need to say, “Aah, the Darling of Heaven, the King of kings, the Lord of Lords, the Lion of Judah, the Holy One, the soon-coming Saviour of the world. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful Sunday,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 7th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Matthew 26:36: “Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane,…”Gethsemane is a garden. I have been there myself many times. There are olive trees there that they say are thousands of years old, and I sit there often and I think of what the Master went through. Gethsemane actually means, “the oil press”, yes, the place of intense spiritual struggle. Oh my dear friend, are you there this morning? Are you in an intense spiritual struggle? You see, it is the place where Jesus endured profound agony and emotional pressure. Are you emotionally under pressure at the moment? It was so much for the Lord that he sweated drops of blood when He was praying, but what did He say? He could have said, “Lord, I can't take this. Please send a legion of angels down to take Me home.” No, if you look at verse 39, while He was praying He said, “My Father, if it is possible let this cup pass from Me, nevertheless not as I will but as You will.”So if you are suffering, that does not mean that you are not walking with the Lord. It does not mean that you are backsliding or that you haven't got any courage. It means that you are in the garden, you are in the time in the oil press, in a time of exceedingly great pressure. Now, what is the answer? Well, the answer is to do exactly what Jesus did. What did He do? He prayed and He prayed, and then God, through the power of His Holy Spirit and His angels, gave Jesus the strength to do what He had to do for you and for me. Now this morning I want to pray for you. I just sense as I am sitting in my prayer room, that many people are in the garden, in the place called Gethsemane, and you are sorely pressurised on both sides and you don't know what to do. Well, I am going to pray for you, and I want you also to pray this prayer with me:Heavenly Father,In the name of Jesus Christ and by the power of Your Holy Spirit, I bring before Your throne, my problems. They are many, Lord, I cannot even find a way out, but Lord, I appeal to You now and I ask You to undertake for me.I pray for strength for the strain. Lord, I know that this time will pass by, but at the moment, it seems like there is no way out.I ask You in Jesus name to strengthen me Lord, so that I can endure that which has been put before me, and I will give You all the glory, all the praise and all the honour. In Jesus' name, amen.God bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 6th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 17:21. And this is Jesus speaking to His Father: ”that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” I want to speak to you this morning about relationships, and I want to speak to you about probably the hardest place to keep a relationship. Where is it? It's at home. Oh yes, I can see you smiling, and some of you aren't. It's not easy. The first murder in the Bible after the creation of the earth was between two brothers, Cain and Abel. Cain killed his brother, Abel. Look at the dispute that Abraham had with his nephew, Lot, when they argued about who was going to have the high land and who was going to have the low land. What about Moses and his brother, Aaron and his sister, Miriam? What an argument they had! If God hadn't intervened there, there would have been big trouble because of family. What about David and Absalom? David was so blinded by the love that he had for his son, that he couldn't see that his son was plotting to kill him. If it wasn't for David's men, his own son would have killed him. What about Paul, Barnabas, and John Mark? They had a terrible fallout because of John Mark, and Paul said, ”I'm not going with him again. He let us down once before and that's it.” Barnabas said, ”No, well I am taking him.” And they split up.Now, this is not a negative message, my dear friend, it's a challenging message. Jesus says that you and I must love one another in the family so that the world can believe that the Father sent Jesus down to the earth. “A new commandment I give unto you that you love one another as I have loved you. By this shall all men know that you are My disciples, if you have love, one for another.”John 13:34-35A new commandment I give unto you that you love one another as I have loved you. That you love one another as I have loved you. By this shall all men know that you are My disciples, if you have love, one for another.By this shall all men know that you are My disciples, if you have love, one for another.Let's love each other. Let's sit down after this message and say, ”Dad, I forgive you”; ”Mom, I forgive you”; “Son, I forgive you.”; “ Daughter, I forgive you.” For Christ's sake, let's do it. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 5th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Daniel 6:20:” …the living God…” Now, who said that? That was the king when he came to the dungeon, where Daniel was put with all those ravenous lions, and they hadn't touched him all night.I've got a beautiful reading I just want to read you from that wonderful man of God, George Müller, the German who got saved in Bristol, England, in a little Bible study and then proceeded to build one of the biggest orphanages in the world. Something like over ten thousand children went through that orphanage, but you know the amazing thing was, he never asked for a penny. He went into his closet and he prayed and Jesus sent the money. I've been to that orphanage, I've seen it with my own eyes. It's not an orphanage anymore, it's a technical college but those beautiful buildings are still standing as a legacy that was left by this man of God.Now this is what he says: "How many times we find this expression in the Scriptures, 'the living God,' and yet it is just this very thing that we are so prone to lose sight of. We know that it is written 'the living God,' but in our daily life there is scarcely anything we practically so much lose sight of as the fact that God is the living God; that He is now whatever He was three or four thousand years ago; that He has the same sovereign power, the same saving love towards those who love and serve Him as ever He had, and that He will do for them now what He did for others two, three, or four thousand years ago, simply because He is the living God, the Unchanging One. Oh, how therefore we should confide in Him and in our darkest moments never lose sight of the fact that He is still and ever will be a living God.”Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 4th of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in 1 Peter 1:16, where God says we must be holy for He is holy: “Be holy, for I am holy.” What is holiness? It's the end-product of obedience. We must become obedient followers of Christ. Then we go to the Gospel of John 17:19-20: ”And for their sakes (Jesus says) I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth. I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;” The Lord wants you and me to be holy so that the people we come into contact with will know and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. We are talking here today about walking the talk. People will believe in Jesus because of the lives and the lifestyle that we live, that is what the Lord is saying. Now you know, as soon as I tell you this, I go way back, ten years ago, to February, this very month, and I think of that brutal, hellish massacre that took place when twenty Coptic Christians were martyred for their faith. Now all they had to do was to deny Christ and they would have lived, but they would not deny Him and their heads were cut off. But one thing we forget sometimes, there weren't twenty, no, there were twenty-one. The man who was number twenty-one was not one of them. He was an African. He came from Ghana. He had only been with them a few weeks when ISIS caught them, but within those couple of weeks, these Coptic Christians, by example, by living sanctified lives, won him through for Christ, and he too died the martyr's death with them.I want to say to you today, it's not what we say, it's who we are that will draw people to Christ. Let us be living examples today, like those Christians who are sitting around the throne of God because they are martyrs.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 3rd of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Hebrews 13:8: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” What a powerful scripture! Do you believe that? I do, and I am going to prove it to you in a minute. If we go to Luke 7, and I want you to read it in your own time, from verse 1 to 10, you will see the Roman officer sent some of his people to Jesus to ask Him to please come and heal his servant who was very sick. Jesus was on His way, but halfway there, the Roman centurion sent a message, “Don't come to my house. I am not worthy. Just say the word.” If we go to Matthew 8:13: “And his servant was healed that same hour.” Jesus was not even there. He said the word because that Roman officer had the faith. Now, something quite amazing happened to us here at Shalom. Last week, a man came to see me. I will call his name, William (that is not his name). He came and shared a testimony with me that encouraged my faith no-end. He said a few years back, His father was very ill. He was in the ICU, and he was basically dying. He had been there for ninety days, 3 months, and they had said to him, they can't keep him there much longer, and they had to take some of the machinery off him that was keeping him alive because other people needed it, and in desperation, he came up to the farm. We prayed for him, that God would heal him. He went back to Durban. He went straight to ICU. He walked straight to his dad's room, he knew exactly where he was, he had been visiting him daily, and the bed was empty. He called the nurses. He said, “Where is my father?”, thinking that he had passed away. They said, “He is sitting in the garden, eating an ice cream.”Oh folks, what a Saviour! He was totally healed. But listen to the miracle. He said to his dad, “When did it happen to you, dad?' He told him the exact time, let's just say, half past ten, and at half past ten, William and all of us were praying for his dad and his dad was healed. Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow - a modern day miracle, but a replica of what happened with the Roman officer and his sick servant. Totally healed!Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 2nd of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Joshua 24:15:”…choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…” That's Joshua speaking to the children of Israel. He says,”… But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” What a powerful declaration by the leader who took over from Moses! Then we go to the New Testament, Matthew 3:11:”He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry.” Then lastly, 1 Corinthians 3:11, which says:”For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.“ - spoken by Paul, when some people who were saying that, ”We are following Apollos,” and some saying they were following Paul. Paul stopped them in their tracks.I want to say to you today there is only one person who you can follow and be very careful. I'm talking particularly today to ministers and leaders. Be careful that you are not drawing people to yourself rather than leading them to Christ. It's very easy to happen, especially when people gather around you and they say, ”We love you and we're going to follow you,” and “you've got the answers”. That's a dangerous place to be.I remember a long time ago, we had a little coffee bar in Greytown and it was thriving. We had all the denominations there. Up to two, three hundred children on a Friday night. So much so that I couldn't cope because I was farming at that time, so we got a man to come and join us. A wonderful man and he had an amazing way with children, and he continued the good work. Then one day he got a call from another church in another city, and he had to leave. Before he left, I said to him, “You know, the true worth of your ministry is now going to be tested.” He said. ”How can you say that?” I said, ”If you leave and the children don't come back to the coffee bar, you have been leading them to yourself, and if they continue to come back, then you know you've done your job.” Of course, they did come back. He had done a good job.Today do not draw people to yourself, draw them to Jesus.God bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 1st of February, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day. We go straight to the Book of John 11:9:”Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day?“ Now I listened to a beautiful little reading from a Scottish preacher who lived in the 1800's. His name, William Arnot. Now, William Arnot said something profound. He said, ”The very fact of a Christian still being here, and not in heaven, is the proof that some work awaits him.” Yes, if we are not in heaven, then the Lord still has work for you and me to do; otherwise, he would have taken us home. I remember hearing a man of God say that we are immortal until our work on earth is completed. What does that mean, young person? Immortal - it means you can't die. You cannot die until you have completed the work which God has ordained you to do while you are here, and that's very encouraging for me.Now, as a farmer we get up in the morning, we milk the cows, we feed the pigs, we tend the crops and we do it every single day. Oh yes, everyday you've got to feed those animals, every day, and do it joyfully as unto the Lord, whatever you do, and enjoy your brief time here on earth. Yes, maybe the person I'm talking to now has only got twelve hours left on this earth, so what must you do? You must be sure that you do not have any unforgiveness in your heart, that you don't have any unsettled issues you need to deal with someone. Maybe you've had an argument, whatever, deal with it while you are still here because when the Lord calls you, you are going home immediately. For me to live is Christ and to die is gain. Paul, the apostle, said that. So let us live today as if it were the last day we had on earth, but let us continue to prepare as if we were going to live here for a thousand years. Most of all let us not waste the precious twelve hours that the Lord has given us today!Jesus bless you and have a wonderful, fruitful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 31st of January, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Isaiah 59:19:”When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.” Are you lifting up your standard today, am I lifting up my standard today? Does the enemy recognise who we are? I hope so. Then we go to Romans 1:16:”For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” When we stand up for the Lord, He stands up for us. I really want to say, especially to young people who are starting out in a new career, maybe this year you are going to university for the first time, maybe you're starting an apprenticeship in a company, maybe you have just become a professional sportsman or woman. I want to say to you today, please listen to me, it is vitally important that you start the right way. Yes, you lift up your standard! In the Book of Numbers, when the Children of Israel were travelling to the promised land, they marched in their different clans, following an order. We are Christians, we need to make sure that people know who we are. We must not be ashamed of the Gospel, in fact I want to go one stage further. I have found in my life that a man or a woman who is not really prepared to lift up the standard of Jesus Christ. In other words, they are believers, they say they love Jesus, but depending on which company they are found in. So if they are found in the pub where the boys are getting drunk and they are speaking about immoral things, and then if you want to join with them, then they look at you sideways, but you're the person that's in church on Sunday with your hands raised up shouting, “Hallelujah”, and they despise you for that. You see, my dear young friend, people don't have to like you, but they must respect you, and they will respect you if you stand firm in what you believe. I'm not saying you must point fingers. I'm not saying you must judge or criticise. I mean, who are we to criticise any man, but our standard must be clear. People must understand who we are and who we stand for and you know, when we get into trouble and we all get into trouble, all of us, they will come to you for help. Today, raise the standard! Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 30th of January, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in John 16:8-9:”And when He has come (that's the Holy Spirit) He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment of sin, because they do not believe in Me; …“ We want to speak this morning about the Holy Spirit. Oh, I love Him so much and the last thing I want to do is to offend Him because He has done so much for me. He is also the One who convicts me when I step out of line. He is like a proverbial heat-seeking missile. He'll find you out. It doesn't matter where you go. You can go into the deepest mine, He's there. You can go to the top of the highest mountain, yes He's there. He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. Now if He's a friend, then He's going to tell you the truth because that's what friends do. So what He's saying to you and me this morning is for example, if you owe money, pay your debt. You say, ”I can't, I don't have the money.” Well, then go and speak to the debtor and explain it to him. Say, ”I'm not leaving the country. I'm not running away. I will pay you as soon as I can. Even if it's just a couple of dollars a month, I will pay you. I'll pay you interest as well.” Then he'll be happy, otherwise, he will throw you into jail.Watch out for familiarity. What does that mean? You have to work in an office with another lady, make sure it stays a business arrangement. Do not become familiar! My son told me a long time ago, he said, ”Dad, an affair doesn't just happen in an instant. No, it takes lots of time. You start to know each other, then you start to have a cup of coffee together, then you take each other home, saving petrol, and then you don't go home for lunch because you can just have lunch at the canteen and then the next thing, you are having an affair and that is tragic.Accountability is so important. What does that mean? I will not go on a campaign overseas or even in the country on my own. Why? Because if I go with someone else, they can always hold me accountable, so it doesn't matter where I go they go with me. Into the restaurant, when we're waiting at the gate to board the aeroplane, at least one man because the devil is a thief and a liar. If you get yourself into a compromised position with another person, there is no-one to stand up for you. It's her word against yours, or it's his word against yours, but if there's two of you the other person can say, ”No, he didn't do anything wrong. That person threw themselves at him.” Beware of a seared conscience that gets you used to breaking the law a little bit, then a little bit more, until you end up in jail. Don't do that. Listen to the Holy Spirit! He will convict you and then you listen to what He is saying.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 29th of January, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. John 15:26, and I am reading it to you from the Amplified Version: “But when the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of Truth who comes from the Father, He will testify and bear witness about Me.” Jesus is saying He is going to send us the Parakletos, and He has. That's a beautiful word. I love to say that word. It is the only Greek word I know, the Helper, and He will tell you the truth because He is the Spirit of Truth! We are talking about the Holy Spirit here today. It's so very important in these days to be able to identify the truth from the fake. There are so many fake things on the go at the moment. With this AI sweeping all over the world, you don't know who is who. How are we going to know what is genuine? There are even people who can impersonate me, they can impersonate my voice and that can be quite scary. How are we, as believers, going to be able to discern the truth from the fake?If we look at the word of God in John 17:17, He says,“Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” That is how the believer will be able to identify the truth from the fake. When they made the movie, “Faith like Potatoes”, the lady who took the part of my wife Jill, a beautiful young lady, was on the set one day, and her sister had come to visit her. Now, they are identical twins. I can't tell them apart, both lovely young ladies. Just for a bit of fun, they decided to swop their clothes and Jeanne's sister came onto the set and they were going to start filming, but straight away the Director, a very wonderful man of God, Regardt van den Berg, spotted her straight away. He said, “You are not Jeanne.” None of us knew. Now, how did he manage to do that? I am telling you why. He knew because he knew Jeanne so well. He was spending time with her every day, shooting the movie. When you spend time in the Word of God, you will identify the truth from the fake.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 28th of January, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to John 15:16. Jesus says:”You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” Wow! What an incredible privilege to be chosen by God for a work to perform on this earth! It is a huge responsibility. With it goes the requirement of bearing good fruit. We have to make a difference in this world - people need to meet the Lord! Remember whatever we ask Father, in Jesus name by the power of His Holy Spirit, Father will give to you and to me.I remember watching a clip, I can't look it up but I remember it as clear as day. I think it was in the time of the Civil War in America, and there was a wounded soldier from the war. He was standing looking through the fence to the White House and he was trying to get in. He asked the sentry at the gate, ”I need to see President Abraham Lincoln.” And the soldier at the gate said, ”Sorry, you can't go in unless you have an introduction, a letter of pass.” And he was standing there looking very forlorn. All of a sudden, a little boy walked up and asked the soldier what his name was and what had happened to him. He was wounded in the war and wanted to meet the President because he had something to ask him. So the little boy said, ”Follow me.” And the wounded soldier walked behind this little boy. He got to the sentry, he said. ”Please let me in.” And the sentry stood back. This little boy, maybe eight, ten years old, carried on walking up the road. When they got to the front door of the White House there were soldiers there as well and he greeted them warmly. They all knew him. He said, ”This soldier needs to see the President of the United States of America.” They all stood back, and in this little boy walked. The wounded soldier was walking behind him. He climbed the steps and came to the door of the Oval Office. He knocked on the door and then walked in with the wounded soldier and there sitting behind this massive desk was the President of America and he said, ”Good morning Father. This soldier would like to meet you.” With that, he got the introduction. He knew his father. Now Jesus knows His Father. Ask Him today!Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 27th of January, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Zechariah 4:6: "Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' Says the Lord of hosts.” Then we go to John 15:7. Jesus says: “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” What a beautiful promise from the Lord! But it is very clear, if we stay in Him and He stays in us, then we can ask whatever we want and He will give it to us. Why? Because we will ask correctly, not in a selfish way but in a godly way. Folks, I want to say to you today, we really need to start to live God's way, for our sakes, and for the sakes of our family, our loved ones and the people we live and work with. Do you remember that very famous American actor and singer, Frank Sinatra? They called him, “Old Blue Eyes”, I am sure he was a very fine man. I know he did have a serious drinking problem but you know, one of the saddest songs, his words, “I did it my way”. Do you know, there is no other way but God's way, and I know, I am speaking from experience myself. My way never, ever works. I looked up the lyrics of that song, and this is what they say. Listen to the words:And now, the end is nearAnd so I face the final curtainMy friend, I'll say it clearI'll state my case, of which I'm certainI've lived a life that's fullI travelled each and every highwayAnd more, much more than this, I did it my wayIt didn't help him. You know the last words he said before he died were, “I am losing it, I am losing it.” What about you today? Are you losing it? I want to pray that will stop today, and that you will start doing it God's way and doing what Jesus said. Let us pray:Heavenly Father,I want to thank You for my friend, listening to this early morning message, my friend, who has being trying to do it genuinely in their own way and it is failing badly. Today Lord, we want to ask You to please live in us, and we want to live in You so that You will take care of every one of our needs, and give us hope for the future, so that when we die we can say, “I am doing it Jesus' way!” I ask this in Your precious name, amen.God bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 26th of January, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5:”For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (fleshly), but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” It's a spiritual war that we're in and we need to fight it with spiritual weapons. I'm talking about the sword of the Spirit. We go to Ephesians 6:17:”…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; You and I need to keep our swords sharpened. Abraham Lincoln, that great American president who basically abolished the slave trade in America. He was a country boy from Kentucky. He had very little education, I think less than three years. They asked him a question, ”If you had to cut down a large tree and they gave you six hours to drop that tree, how would you go about it?” That wise country boy said, ”I would take four hours to sharpen the axe.” You and I need to keep our swords sharpened. I'm talking about the Bible, the Word of God.We need to memorise scripture. We need to apply the Word of God into everything we do, every plan we make, and every thought we think. The Word of God is final. When you truly believe what Jesus says and you take the Word of God literally, then you apply it. There's no more discussing after that. What does the word say? Does the Word hate divorce? Yes, so work through your marriage. What does the Bible say about honesty? If you owe a man something, pay him. ”No, but we'll wait until 120 days until they're going to take us to court, and then we'll pay, but we'll use his money in the meantime.” No, No, No, No. You pay that money that you owe as soon as you get it. We're talking here about a sharpened sword and that is what will give you the victory. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 25th of January, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. ”Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.”John 15:2 Pruning is a painful operation, but we need to get rid of the deadwood so that we can grow strong, straight and healthy. That deadwood must be disposed of.We live in a most beautiful area here in KwaZulu-Natal. At Shalom, we are surrounded by beautiful forests of eucalyptus trees, of pine trees, and when the forester plants those seedlings, they are the size of my little finger, and they look so beautiful when they grow up to waist height, but as they grow older they start to crowd into each other. Then the forester comes and starts to take out the trees that are too cluttered so that the ones that remain can grow strong. If he leaves them, he will have a forest which will be entangled and starved of nutrients. It will be wasted. The same thing applies with a fruit tree. I remember I had a beautiful plum tree. It was the smallest tree in our orchard. It had been pruned naturally when it was small and yet eventually when it grew up, it produced the sweetest plums that I've ever eaten. Now, we need to prune our children, and it's called discipline. If you see a young man or a young woman who is disciplined, they are a pleasure to be around. They are very well-mannered, totally selfless, they care about other people, not themselves, and they are very popular because people want to be near them. But the person who has never been disciplined is self-centred, they are not interested in the things of God, only themselves, because they have never been pruned. Now the one who does the pruning is Jesus Christ, and it is very painful sometimes, but let it happen so that the end result will be profitable, and the produce will be acceptable to God.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
