I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 31st of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the first book in the Bible, the Book of Genesis 32:32: ”…He touched the socket of Jacob's hip in the muscle that shrank.” The Lord touched the hip of Jacob and displaced his hip and for the rest of his life, he limped with a displaced hip. Then we go straight to 2 Corinthians 12:8-9, Paul says: “Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”I want to speak to you today about pain. Are you in pain today? Have you just lost a loved one, someone very close to you? Have you just had an injury and the doctor says you will never play sport again? Have you had a situation where you are physically weak and the one you love the most has left you because he or she said they can't live with you? Well, I want to tell you something now. The Lord says to you today and to me, “My grace, my undeserved loving kindness is enough for you.”Folks, I know about healing. I pray for the sick. I have seen blind eyes open, I have seen deaf ears unstopped, I have seen people get out of wheelchairs and walk. I have seen it with my eyes. You have seen the movie, “Faith Like Potatoes”, where we prayed for a dead woman and God raised her up, but I want to speak to you today about pain.My best example is a hero of mine. A Scottish preacher by the name of George Matheson. At the age of twenty years old, he started going blind and his fiancée left him. She said, ”I can't live with a blind man for the rest of my life.” I want to tell you about that man. That man was tipped to be one of the greatest preachers in Scotland, but because he went blind, he was put on the side, but you know what he did? When he was sitting in the lounge, when his young sister was about to get married. They were doing all the preparations. She was his eyes, you see. She had dedicated her life to helping him, and now she had found her lover, and she was getting married and she was about to leave him. He was forty years old, he was all by himself. He sat in the corner and he wrote a hymn, probably one of the greatest hymns ever written, “Oh love that will not let me go, I hide myself in thee.”You know, it's only when an orange gets squeezed that you can taste the beautiful nectar. Today, maybe you're going through a rough time. The Lord says to you, ”My Grace is sufficient for you.” Trust in Him and He will do the rest for you because He is more than you or I will ever need!Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 30th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 14:3: “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?” That is what the Pharisees were asking Jesus. Jesus answered in verse 5. He says: “Which of you, having a donkey or an ox that has fallen into a pit, will not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day?” We are talking this morning about priorities. What is important in your life? Going to church on the Sabbath? Absolutely! You can ask any member of my family and they will tell you, if it is at all possible, that is where I will be on Sunday morning, but what Jesus is saying, “What about the ox or the donkey who has fallen into a hole on a Sunday?" Do you leave it there until after the church service then pull it out and probably find that it is dead? No, you have to stop. You have to take your jacket off, you have to roll up your sleeves, you have to get covered in mud, and pull that animal out to save its life, then go to church. Then, of course, the Pharisees in the church criticise you because they will say, “Look how dirty that person is coming into the house of the Lord.”I want to say something to you, my dear friend. Many times it has happened to me. As we are driving out of the gate of the farm, what do we see? All the cows are on the district road. Now that is a huge danger for traffic. What do we do? We stop. We have to push all the cattle back into the paddock, close the gate and go to church. When we get to church, we are late, and the Pharisees are saying, ”Look at these people! They don't even respect the house of God.” We need to be very careful that we don't point fingers until we know the full story. I am an evangelist, you know that - my busiest day is on a Sunday, that's right, when everybody is in church. So when do I go to church? I go to church every single day of the week. Every morning, I am a 4 o'clock man, you know that. That's when I spend time in the presence of God, just like my Saviour did, but when the ox is in the hole, pull him out first. It might be somebody who just absolutely needs you. You say “But I can't be late for church.” What is more important? To help who is destitute and stranded on the road, or to make sure that you get to church and you are all nice and tidy and clean? Let's get our priorities in order.God bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 29th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go the Gospel of Luke 13:34. Jesus says:”How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!”So sad. If you ever have the privilege of going to Israel and you sit on the side of the Mount of Olives, you look straight across the Kidron valley, and you see the Temple Mount on the other side. Now Jesus sat there and He wept over Jerusalem. He said like a mother hen protects her brood of chicks, He wants to do the same for you and me today. Please let Him! There is a little chapel that is built there in the shape of a teardrop. Isn't that beautiful? I've sat in that little chapel and there are pictures of little chickens and chicks inside the chapel to remind us of this statement that the Lord made. Many years ago, a pastor told me a story about something he saw on the slopes of the mighty Drakensberg Mountains in KwaZulu-Natal. They had been burning firebreaks, and those fires on the side of the mountain are vicious, and they run at a tremendous speed, and often people are overcome by the smoke and the fumes and even get burnt to death. They were walking over the ashes of a firebreak that they had made because it was winter time and there they found a little partridge, a Franklin, and this partridge was lying on the ground. It had been burnt. The fire had gone over it but it's wings were stretched out and one of the men took that little partridge and turned it over and underneath that mother hen were four or five little partridge chicks. She had protected them with her very life.Today, Jesus wants to do the same for you. He is weeping because He sees what you are doing to yourself and what you are doing to others. Repent today, say “Sorry Lord,” and turn from your wicked ways and start to follow Him with all of your heart.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 28th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the first book of the Bible, Genesis 32:6:”Then the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, “We came to your brother Esau, and he also is coming to meet you…” Remember, Jacob and Esau fell out because Jacob robbed Esau of his inheritance. There was a tremendous amount of hatred involved. In fact Esau swore that he was going to kill his brother, Jacob. Then we go straight to 1 John 4:20. The Lord says:”If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?” A very stern word for you and me today from the Lord. The Lord basically says, 'Settle your differences.' Do not carry that grudge. Sort it out! We have to, for God's sake, and I'm not swearing either, I mean it. How can we expect the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive us when we can't forgive our brother? When you do forgive then all of a sudden there's a peace that comes over your heart isn't there? You can sleep better at night, can't you? You know the word “restitution”? I looked it up in the Oxford dictionary, it means to restore, to pay for injury or loss that has been suffered. We need to deal with our differences. If you're a runner, you will understand what I'm going to say. When you are running a race, maybe 20, 30, 40 kilometres and there is a stone, a small stone, in your running shoe. Stop, take that shoe off, get rid of that little stone and then carry on running. If you don't, you won't finish the race. That little stone will cause a huge blister and you'll end up not being able to complete your race. I'm talking about small things.I remember, a man came to see me. He had come to one of the early Mighty Men Conferences and what he had done was, he wanted to take a memento back to his home. So he went into our maize field and picked a nice big mealie cob. It was dry by then, and he took it home as a reminder. You know that he was convicted by the Holy Spirit, and about twenty years later, he came to see me and he brought this old, old mealie and he said, ”I want to bring this back.” I laughed, but you know something? He was quite at peace after that.We had a young man that we were looking after here. We used to look after young men from overseas, and he had came from another country. He stole my Leatherman. I didn't even know it, I thought I'd lost it, and ten years later, he came back to see me on the farm and he brought that knife back. He said, ”I stole your knife. I am so sorry.”Today, settle your differences, and you'll be surprised how the Lord Jesus will bless you. God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 27th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Matthew 7:13-14. Jesus says:“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”This Christian walk of ours is not easy. The Lord never promised us a rose garden but He did promise us that He would lead us if we will follow Him. When you go through that narrow gate, it is character-building stuff. We have to keep at it, no compromise, no bending the rules, no cheating because the way is narrow and it is steep and very difficult, but at the end of that road it is most rewarding. As a younger man, I used to love climbing to the mountain tops of the mighty Drakensberg Mountains, which lie about an hour and a half west of Shalom Farm. When you get out of the pick-up or out of the truck, everybody is excited. Put your rucksacks on, get your walking stick with you and off you go! The road is wide, it is smooth and there are many people that are walking on that road. But the amazing thing is, as you start to get higher, the oxygen is less, it's much steeper, the weather is all over the place, it can get windy, it can rain - you can get four seasons in one day, and the road gets much narrower. No more road, just a path. Eventually, the path gives up, there is no more path, and the only way you can get to the top, and it is quite perilous, is by following little cairns of stones that people have put in the way to show you the way to the top. That is how it is in life. When we get serious with God, He gets serious with us, but oh my dear friend, it is so worthwhile because eventually, when you get to the top, sometimes on your hands and knees, and you turn around and look out, you see the whole of KwaZulu-Natal. On a clear day, you can see to the ocean. It is mighty! There are only certain birds up there, such as the Lämmegeier, the bearded vulture, which has a wing span of about two metres, very few eagles, and definitely no house birds. However, it is invigorating. Now, keep on the road. Keep going through the narrow gate. Don't worry about the easy way that many people walk in, but that one does not lead to eternal life. Jesus bless you today as you keep your eyes fixed on the top of the mountain.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 26th of July, 2025, and this is your friend Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 15:16, and this is Jesus Himself speaking. He says: “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”I want to talk to you about fruit today. The Lord says we must bear fruit. Yes, we are talking about the fruit of the Spirit. When we bought the farm, one of the first things I did was plant a little orchard of fruit trees. I remember I put in 500 trees. I remember marking them out, getting the holes dug. I had all kinds of fruit but there was one fruit tree in that orchard that I always used to go to. It was one of the smallest trees, it had really struggled to make it through but it had come through strong. It never produced the quantity of fruit that some of the other trees produced, but one thing it did do, it produced quality. I would go to that plum tree and I would take one of those plums off the tree and when I bit into it, the flesh was blood red and it was the sweetest plum that I have ever tasted, and every year it gave me those beautiful plums, not many of them, but very tasty. You know, it's not about how much we produce. It is the quality of the fruit that we produce. We had a young lady in our congregation here on the farm. Her name is Sarah and she is with Jesus today. She was always very sickly, she had many operations, but I want to tell you, Sarah had the most beautiful smile that I think I have ever seen, and right up till the time that the Lord took her home, she never complained. She was always quick to greet everyone. She used to come over to me, I used to wait for it, and she would give me a big hug and ask how I was. She never complained about herself. She was one of God's choicest fruits. Don't be concerned today about how much fruit you are producing, rather work on the quality of the fruit that you are producing. We have a lady in our congregation who makes rusks. Now, if you don't come from South Africa, you don't know what a rusk is! It is a very hard biscuit that you dunk in your tea or coffee, early in the morning. It is a must for every farmer, and this lady makes the nicest rusks I have ever eaten in my life, and when Amanda brings me a packet of rusks, I tell you what - my face just lights up. Remember, produce fruit! Don't be so concerned about the quantity, make sure the quality is top-class.God bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 25th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the book of Proverbs 20:7:“The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him.”Integrity means honesty. I want to speak to you today about dads. It's not Father's Day, but I just feel I need to share this with you. We really need to appreciate our dads. My dad was a blue collar worker. He was a trader, a blacksmith, but he was also a very honest man. My dad never owed anybody anything. We didn't have a lot at home, but everything we had, we owned. I remember when my dad was just about to meet the Lord, we had him in a very special place. I used to visit him every single day at a home in Greytown where he had special care. Every time I went in to see him, every single day, he would always ask me one question, “Angus, is there enough money in my account.” You see, I was looking after his finances in the last months of his life, and I always said, “Dad, there is plenty there.” He was an honest man. He was a man that I respected. He taught me a lot of things that I also try to pass on to my children and grandchildren, but I want to tell you something now, honesty is a great thing and I want to tell you something now, our children will be blessed by us if we set the standard. One day, my dad was getting ready to go to work and I was moaning and saying to mom, “Mom, I don't have a watch to wear, I don't have a wrist watch. All the other boys in my class have got watches. I don't have one.” My old dad took the watch off his wrist (this makes me emotional) and he gave it to me. He said, “Son, take this one”, and he gave it to me and went to work without a watch. I remember very clearly, my foreman on the farm, Simeon Bhengu, telling me after my dad had gone to be with the Lord. He said, “Every time my dad left the farm to go up and spend some time with my brother in Johannesburg, he would call the induna in. Now, my dad was a pensioner, he wasn't running the farm, he was staying on the farm, and he would say to Bhengu, ”Bhengu, Ngifuna ukunakekela umfana wami” (I want you to look after my boy). Now this boy was already forty years old and my dad was in his seventies. We thank God for dads. Today, tell your dad that you love him, that is all he wants to hear, nothing else.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 24th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to that well-known scripture in the Book of Philippians 4:6 (Amplified Version) “Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.” The Lord wants to tell you and me this morning that He wants us to climb our mountain. What does that mean? Fulfil our vision, run the race, attempt great things for God and expect great things from God. That is what William Carey said. You know, I want to tell you a story about one of the greatest evangelists of our modern age - yes, I am talking about DL Moody. Dwight Lymon Moody was in the UK. He had been preaching, something like 2 million decisions for Christ, he was extremely tired, and they persuaded him to go and see a heart specialist in Harley Street, the Main Street in London, where all the medical fraternity were. The heart specialist said to him, “If you don't slow down, if you don't ease up, you are going to die.” After he had been told that and got on the ship to go back to America, the ship got into trouble and the ship was in a storm and it nearly sank. That day Dwight Lymon Moody realised that his future was in God's hands, that he could have drowned, the ship could have sunk. It didn't sink as it turned out, another ship came along and rescued it but it made him realise that every day he has belongs to God, and he decided there was no way he was pulling back. He would keep going until such time that the Lord saw fit to take him home. You and I cannot extend our lives one minute, never mind one day, without God's permission. Remember God is in Heaven and we are not, so why, my dear friend, this morning, are you anxious, why are you fearful? You know, if you look at the word of God in John 14:1, Jesus Himself said: “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.” The Lord is in full control of your life. Before you were conceived in your mother's womb the Lord had already allotted the number of days that you were going to live on this earth, not one day longer, not one day shorter, so let's do it.I remember a story of a man who went to see a doctor, I think it was in Australia. They said “You have three months to live, your heart is packing up. Go and just sit quietly at home”. So he thought, “I have got nothing to lose.” So he got on a ship and he came to South Africa, and he climbed some of the most treacherous mountains in the Drakensberg, and you know what happened? That man lived until he was in his eighties. I want to say to you today, climb your mountain!Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 23rd of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Matthew 18:22: Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.” Remember, Peter says, ”How many times must I forgive my brother, seven times?” Jesus said, ”No, not seven times, seventy times seven.”What is the Lord saying to you and me this morning? He is saying to us that forgiveness is a lifestyle. It's not a one-off thing. We have to continue to forgive one another. You say, “But I cannot forgive that person for what they did to me”. I understand that because people have done some terrible things to me as well, but for the sake of the Gospel, we have to forgive. How can you expect Christ to forgive you and me for what we've done if we cannot forgive the person that's done something against us. You know, the person whom you have something against doesn't feel anything. He doesn't even know you have any unforgiveness towards him. So who is suffering? Only you and me, because we will not forgive and actually it can make you sick, physically, mentally and most of all spiritually. We have to forgive. What did Jesus say on the cross when He was crucified, ”Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34Now that's forgiveness.I remember many, many years ago we had a healing meeting. We were praying for the sick and this one dear soul came up and I could see she was very troubled. I said to her, ”What can I pray for?” And she said, ”Angus, I get terrible migraine headaches. Please could you pray that these headaches would leave me.” I looked at her and I felt the Holy Spirit prompt me and I said, ”Do you have unforgiveness in your heart towards someone?” She got quite indignant, quite upset. She said, "I didn't come here to speak about my personal affairs. I came here because I am sick.” I said, ”Well, if you can forgive that person, God will heal you of those migraines.” And with that she burst into tears and she was able to forgive that person, and maybe it had been for many, many years. Well, the next time I saw that lady she was radiant. I said, “And how are you keeping?” She said, ”I have never had another migraine headache since we had that prayer time.” Today, forgive first of all for God's sake because He told us to, and also for our own sakes.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 22nd of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to 1 John 5:7: “For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.” Then we go forward to the Gospel of John 1:1-3: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” Wow! Who is the Word? Yes, you got it right. The Word is Jesus. We as believers believe in the Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. It doesn't say there are three that bear witness in Heaven, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. No, it says, the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit. Now we can understand how important it is to know our Bibles. I've always said if somebody says to you, ”Show me this Jesus you're always talking about.” Give them a Bible. When I travel to disadvantaged countries, where there's very little finance, people are very poor, we take food, we take clothes and we take Bibles and I want to tell you, they're not interested in the food, even though they may be hungry. They're not interested in the clothes, even though they may be clothed in rags. What they want is the Bible. I have seen grown men fighting for a Bible. I really mean that, fisticuffs, because the Bible is Jesus Christ in print. When I get letters sent to our office with very difficult questions, I have to go to the Word, and sometimes the people don't like the answers but I have to tell them, “This is what the Bible says.” When I have to settle differences, I've seen fathers and sons come to me who are having a dispute on the farm for example. I can't take the one side of the one party because I like them, no. What does the Word say? And then we go by the word and then there's nothing to argue about. That's why you put your hand on the Bible in court and you pray that you will tell the truth and nothing but the truth, so help you God. The Bible is my direction finder. You know the thought for the day that you are listening to right now, I'm in my sixth year. I have not missed one single day, all the glory to God, and people say, ”How do you do it?” I do it through the Bible, the Word of God. Today Jesus bless you as you cherish and love the Word, who is the soon coming Saviour of the world, our Lord Jesus Christ.God bless you and goodbye
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 21st of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Luke 12:37. This is Jesus speaking: “Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching.” I want to speak about appointments. You know what they say? You snooze, you lose! It's funny but it's actually not that funny, is it? There is no excuse for being late for an appointment. You see, it tells the person that they are not really that important to you. It can ruin a relationship forever. Young man, when you are dating a young girl and you are trying to make an impression, if you get there late, I am telling you now, you are in big trouble. If you are late for your wedding day, it's not a joke. You can ruin the rest of your relationship. What about if you are late for the birth of your baby? That's almost unforgivable. “Yes, but I had something else on” - no, priorities! If you are late for your finals, you are writing your final exams and you are late, it can ruin your career. Now, you say, how can we alleviate this potential tragedy in our lives? One word, discipline! Discipline! Get up in the morning. “Aah but, I work late.” It doesn't matter. Get up in the morning, have a good quiet time with Jesus every single day, not now and again, every single day.Priorities, very important! Who is first in your life? Jesus Christ, second - your family, third - your work or even your ministry, and then always be ready, be packed and be ready for the doorbell to ring. I can't wait for that doorbell to ring, I am telling you now. Settle your accounts, owe nobody anything, and then when He calls, He will say, “I have arrived”, and you and I will say by the grace of God, “Here I am, Lord. I am packed, I am ready to go.” Jesus is not coming soon, He is on His way, I tell you! Have a wonderful day, but really sharpen up, get your act together, because He says He is coming like a thief in the night, and you won't even hear about it.God bless you and be ready for the great day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 20th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of Luke 12:34. Jesus says: ”For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Isn't that so true? You know, I remember a story about a Scottish miller. He was milling corn. He had his mill by a river with the old paddle wheel that did the grinding, turned the grindstone and that was his whole life. Now he got sick, very sick, and his family was worried about him, so they called for the minister to come and pray with him before he died because he wasn't a Christian and what he had done was, he had his bed put next to the grindstone, the mill, so that he could hear the corn grinding out. The minister came up to him and he spoke to him and he said to him, ”Do you realise that you are dying? I want to speak to you about eternal life, about your soul.” And the old Scotsman said, ”I cannot hear you. I cannot hear what you're saying,” because of the noise of the mill, that was grinding out the corn, and eventually he died. His heart and his treasure was with his mill. How many of us are in that situation today? We are so concerned about our vision, our personal ambition, that we are forgetting about eternal life. Jesus said that we must concentrate on the things of heaven. He said, ”because where your treasure is, that's where your heart is also.” (Matthew 6:21). We must put our personal ambitions, things which are so close to us, we must put them in heaven where no thief or no moth will destroy. I heard a story, I don't know how true it is, some years ago. They did an interview with some of the top athletes in the world. These were world record holders and they were asked, ”If you could be given a pill to take that would give you the strength to break the world record but would shorten your life to a mere four years, would you do it?” and most of them said they would. How tragic is that? That is because their treasure, their everything, was based on becoming the world champion. Let's not do that today. Remember this life is but a vapour. Let us start investing our treasure where rust and moth and the thief cannot destroy. Let us start investing in heavenly things.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 19th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the first book of the Bible, Genesis 26:27-28:”And Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me, since you hate me and have sent me away from you?” Then the reply from King Abimelech: ”But they said, “We have certainly seen that the Lord is with you.” Then we go to the New Testament, to the Book of Romans 8:31: “If God is for us, who can be against us?”You see, what happened was, King Abimelech had chased Isaac, Abraham's son, away, and he left, but where God sent him, he prospered. He prospered in everything he did and he succeeded and Abimelech saw that. So he came with the commander of his army and one of his friends and said, ”Listen, we want to make a truce with you. We want to make a covenant with you because we see that your God prospers you.” How many times have you seen that in life? You know, I remember as a wild young man, we would go out to a party, group of us young guys in a motorcar and there would be one of the chaps in the car that was not a drinker. He was a Christian. When we'd go to the party and all get a little bit under the weather, what did we do? We gave the keys of the motorcar to that one chap because we knew that he would take us home safely because he was a follower of Christ.I want to say to the young man listening to this program today. Do not compromise your stand for anybody. You say, ”But it's making me very unpopular.” Yes, it actually made Isaac very unpopular as well. That's why he was chased away, but later Abimelech, who chased him away, saw how God was prospering him and came to Isaac to make peace.A young shepherd boy, maybe 13 years old, took on a mighty giant, a seasoned warrior of the Philistines, and actually took him apart, piece by piece. “Do you think I'm a dog?” Goliath said, ”that you come against me with stones and sticks?” And what was the reply? David said, ”I come against you in the name of the God of the people of Israel. The God of all gods.” He used his slingshot with one stone and killed that giant. I want to say to you today, do not compromise your stand for anyone. Stand tall for the Lord because the Lord will defend you, not only defend you, but He will prosper you in everything you do, and I want to tell you, it's a great honour when people say, ”Are you one of those?” You can say, ”Yes I am. I'm a follower of Jesus Christ.”God bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 18th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the book of Genesis 25:31: “But Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright as of this day.” Then we go to the New Testament, Mark 8:36: “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” Today we really need to take an account of our lifestyle. Esau had been out hunting and had obviously caught nothing the whole day. So he came in and was extremely hungry. He said to his brother Jacob, “Give me something to eat...”, a plate of lentil soup, that's all it was, “and I will give you my birthright. Don't ever do that. Today, maybe I am speaking to a young girl and she has fallen pregnant and she is not married and she thinks that she will get an abortion. Please do not do that. That is murder. Don't do it! We are talking today about the “spur of the moment”. I have been to maximum security prisons and I have stood next to men who are weeping, dignified men who have made a decision to steal money from their company. It is called fraud. They have been caught and they really intended to pay it back and they are now serving a stiff sentence. Don't do it!There is a man maybe listening to this programme who is having an affair. That woman is not your wife. She belongs to somebody else. Don't do it - you will regret it! I want to say to you today that once he had eaten the plate of lentil soup and his stomach was full, then Esau realised what he had done. Yes, we are not going to talk about Jacob, we are talking about Esau today. It is so easy to fall into that trap of the devil because, yes, God can forgive you and He will if you truly repent, but remember, the consequences last forever.Today, we need to be determined and intentional that we are not going to allow the flesh to overtake the spirit. Most of these decisions that are made, are made in the flesh. It's a “spur of the moment” thing. Oh no, we'll get over it. No, she won't get over it and he won't get over it because it is wrong. We need to start asking ourselves a question today as we close - what would Jesus do? And then do exactly that, nothing more, nothing less. Then you will keep your inheritance and you will not lose your promise of eternal life. So today, say sorry to the Lord, put it right and move on with godly principles in mind.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 17th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 18:36. Jesus answering Pontius Pilate said: “…My kingdom is not from here.” Then we go to the Gospel of Luke 12:15: “Take heed”, Jesus says, ”and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”To covet something is to want something that is not yours, and something that you probably don't need but you just want it. My dear friends, I have seen it so many times. We don't need half of the stuff that we have in our homes, do we? I am talking to myself as well. You know, there are things that we love, there are things that we really want but we don't need them, and that is a big danger.Do you remember the story of the man that worked so hard all his life. He scraped, he scrimped, he lived “on the smell of an oil rag” as they say. He worked so hard but it came at the expense of his family, it came at the expense of relationships, he became unpopular. He wasn't very well loved. He saved it up and bought gold, and he bought lots of gold. In fact, he had a suitcase full of gold bars. And then he died and he went to Heaven, and he took that suitcase with him and when he got to Heaven, the Lord asked Him, “What have you got in that suitcase?” He said, “I have got my possessions, the things that I have coveted all my life and I have brought them with me.” The Lord took him outside. He said, “Do you see the streets here in Heaven are paved with gold? It is worthless.”Oh my friend today, please start to focus on eternal things. I am talking about relationships with your loved ones. Work on those things. Don't work on things that rust and moth will destroy, things which have no eternal benefit. That's what Jesus said to Pilate. He said, “This is not My kingdom. My kingdom is in Heaven.”Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 16th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Luke 12:8-9: “Also I say to you, whoever confesses Me before men, him the Son of Man also will confess before the angels of God.” Verse 9, now this is a very serious one: “But he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God.” Then Romans 1:16 says, Paul says: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” There is no room in the Kingdom of God for secret agent Christians! You either have to put your hand up and stand up for the Lord or you must deny Him because you will not speak up for Him, and I think that is one of the most important things for us to do in these last days. People are desperate to hear the truth. And you say, “If I am vocal in the workplace about Jesus, I might get fired.” Yes, you might but you might not. You might win others to Christ. It takes courage to stand up in public for the Lord. I am always so deeply touched when I see international sport, like football or rugby, and I see some of the players, not all of them, they run onto the field and they kneel, in the presence of crowds of fifty thousand people, and they are praying, and they are making a statement that they are not ashamed of the Gospel.I can hear somebody saying, “Ja, but you don't have to go and blurt it out.” Folks, let's get real. Let's get back to the scripture verse where the Lord says, “If you are ashamed of me before men, I will be ashamed of you before my Heavenly Father.” As a Christian, we have got to be prepared to stand up in all situations. I am thinking of young people particularly today. You know, when you get older, it's easier to be outspoken for Christ because people know who you are and what you stand for, but when you are a young girl or a young man at university and people are having a big party and you say, “Sorry I don't do that.” “Are you one of those Christians?” And you say, “Yes, actually, I am, and that is why I don't do it”. That takes a lot of courage. But the good news is that God honours that statement that you make. God will bless you because you stand up for His Son, and that is exactly what He is expecting from both of us, so today, I don't know who I am speaking to, but there is an opportunity today to make a difference and tell people that you are a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ because He is your Lord and Saviour.Today, stand up for the Lord because He also will stand up for you!Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 15th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the first book of the Bible, Genesis 22:14: “And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.” In my footnotes I have got the definition of “the Lord will provide” in Hebrew. It is “Yahweh”. Yahweh - another name for the Lord. The Lord will provide!I want to tell you a little story. I was up in Central Africa some time ago. I was in a very isolated area and we had two blow-outs over a period of about a week. We didn't have any spare wheels in the vehicle, and the Lord provided. You see, I want to say to you that when Abraham was going to offer up Isaac as a living sacrifice, he was about to cut his son's throat with a knife, when the Angel of the Lord said, ”No, don't do that. Have a look in the thicket, there is a ram caught by it's horns”. The Lord provided a way out. The Lord provided a ram to compensate for the death of Isaac, his son, and the Lord was so overwhelmed by the faith and the obedience of Abraham that He said to him more than twice that He will make a covenant with him, and He will be his God and they will be His people, which stands to this very day.Getting back to my story - they contacted the head quarters in the capital city, and they said, “There are no tyres of that size anywhere in the country”, but the Lord provided. A man in South Africa sourced those tyres. He put them on a truck and sent them to Central Africa. They were put on a bus and brought right into the interior of Central Africa and dropped off in a small little village. Then we met up with those two brand spanking new tyres and men that work on the side of the road repairing tyres, took the two punctured tyres off and put on two brand-new tyres. The Lord provides, and by the way, we got home safely, in Jesus' name.I want to say to you today, how many times is the Lord providing for you and you do not even acknowledge it or realise it? Open your spiritual eyes and remember the Lord always provides for His children. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 14th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the 1 Thessalonians 5:17. The Lord says to you and I, “pray without ceasing.” In other words, pray in every situation you find yourself in, and the confirmation of that one is found in the Book of James 5:16:”The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” Effective, fervent - that's praying with sincerity, urgency, commitment and faith, avails much. Oswald Chambers was a Scottish preacher who wrote a book, (well his wife actually did it after he died. He died at 43 years old and his wife, Biddy Chambers took down all the messages that he ever preached and then she made books out of them). This particular book must be one of the most famous devotionals of all time, and in that book, he says, “Prayer is not a preparation for work, it is work.” Isn't that profound? So we don't pray as a preparation. No, we pray because it's part of what Christians do. He says prayer is not a preparation for the battle, it is the battle! He says prayer is two-fold - definite asking and definite waiting to receive.I want to say to you today, we need to pray continually and we need to believe in what we are praying. It does take some work. It takes time everyday for you to sit aside. Get on your knees, whatever position you find comfortable, and talk to God. “Oh but I can't.” You can! Some of us are just too lazy to do it.I want to tell you something. When I listen to a preacher, I can hear what his prayer life is like. I can pick it up in two minutes, and then I can hear others, like James Hudson Taylor. They said when he prayed, everybody came to a standstill because he was talking directly to his God who he knew so very well. Today, start praying effectively. Start praying without ceasing and remember, it's work and there is a reward for that work, which comes directly from the throne of Heaven.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful prayer day, Goodbye
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 13th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. If we go to the Gospel of John 14:5-6: “Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him (to Thomas), “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”I'm talking to somebody today who is lost. It is a terrible feeling, is it not, when you are lost? I remember driving up to Johannesburg, just as the sun was setting, and seeing all the motorcars, tens of thousands of them, trying to get home from work. There were lights flashing on both sides of the road and I was trying to find my way, and I just could not get the right address. One feels totally helpless. That's how Thomas felt. He said, ”Lord,…” After the Lord said He's going ahead to prepare a home for him in heaven and then He's coming back to fetch him, ”…but Lord, we don't know the way.” And then Jesus said, ”I am the way.”I want to say to you today that you need to sit down, you need to call upon the name of the Lord, you need to relax, and He will show you the way. Some of us, and I was one of them, were trying everything we could, and it's chaos. Just pull over to the side of the road, sit quietly, pray, ask the Lord to show you the way and He will show you the way. He's done it for me, many, many times - not only you, but your loved ones, your family, your workmates. Jesus Christ is the truth and the way and the life, and in this hectic life that you and I are living in at the moment, the only way that we are going to reach our destination is by listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit, and He will say, ”This is the way. Walk ye in it.”Have a wonderful day, Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 12th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Ecclesiastes 3:11:”He has made everything beautiful in its time.” Then we go straight to Romans 8:28:”And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.“ The Lord makes all things new.A while ago, I was in Central Africa, in that magnificent, beautiful, tropical rain forest, and I was going for a ride down a path on my mountain bike, and I looked at the trees and I noticed something very strange. Just about all of these trees had a little bend in them at about waist height - big trees, small trees, just a little kink in them and I was wondering what it was. Then I realised what had happened was that many years ago, the local people, in order to make money, cut these magnificent trees down and made them into charcoal. Then they sell the charcoal and plant their maize and their ground nuts and their cassava in beds where the trees were, but because Jesus makes all things new, those trees sprouted and started growing again, and this particular area that I was cycling through was completely recovered. I was just thinking, “Lord, You are so special! You make all things new.”Now, I don't know where you are at the moment, in your life. Maybe you've done something that you really regret. Maybe you feel that there's no hope for you. Maybe you've also been put on the ash heap as it were, but I want to tell you that Jesus Christ can restore and make new, whatever has been damaged in your life. All you have to do is to call out to Him and say, ”Lord, please help me. I've made some terrible mistakes. I've destroyed a lot of things, maybe my family, maybe my business, my reputation, and I feel that I am worthless.” The Lord says repent. Say sorry and start again, but this time do it God's way and He will make you into a brand new person.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 11th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Matthew 12:30: “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.” Then we go to the Gospel of Luke 11:23, and Jesus says exactly the same thing. He says: “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.” We cannot serve two masters. Either we are for the Lord or we are against the Lord. There is no middle ground. The Lord says in the Book of Revelation, “If you are lukewarm, a compromiser, I will spew you out of My mouth.” Strong words, and like never before in the world, we have got to be definite and intentional when it comes to our faith. I am thinking of children at school, particularly, under tremendous pressure to compromise and say, “Yes, all roads lead to Heaven.” According to our Bible they do not. Jesus says, “I am the way,…” John 14:6. We need to stand tall for the Lord like never before. So, by doing nothing, the Lord says we are actually against Him. When somebody asks you, “Are you a follower of Christ?”, you have to say “yes” or “no”. You can't say, “Well, you know, I believe in all gods.” We don't actually, and that is why we get persecuted so much. I think again of those incredible men, those migrant workers who were working in Libya when they were caught by ISIS, marched to the edge of the Mediterranean Sea and given an opportunity to deny Christ. If they had relented they would have lived, but they didn't, and one by one they were killed. But what really touched me was that one of them was a migrant worker from Ghana, from Africa, and they said, “Who are you serving?” And this is all on video, folks. He said, “I am with them.'Understand very clearly, if you want power and peace and joy in your heart, you need to stand for Christ. You need to be definite, and that will give you the peace, the ability and the power, to walk this road with Jesus. Have a blessed day as you stand tall for the King of Kings, the soon-coming Saviour of the world.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 10th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the first book of the Bible. Genesis 21:6:“God has made me laugh,…” This is Sarah speaking, ”…and all who hear will laugh with me.” Then we go to a very well-known scripture in Nehemiah 8:10: ”Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”How are you feeling this morning? Are you sad, are you disappointed, are you fearful? I want to tell you that Sarah went through all those things and even more. Then, eventually, the Lord gave her a son, and Abraham named him Isaac. Abraham was 100 years old and Sarah was in her late 90's and she laughed and they all laughed with her. I want to say to you today, “Laugh at your problems because the devil is a liar, a thief and a bully, and he will pull you down as much as he can and he will tell you, 'It can't happen, you have lost it, it is too late.” Its a lie, laugh at him in his face, and I want to tell you something now. That will give you strength. The joy of the Lord is our strength. I think of that movie, The Sound of Music. I am talking to young people. If you haven't watched that movie, you need to watch it. It is a good story, its a true story about a girl named Maria. Maria just loved singing, she was always on the mountain tops, she was appreciating God's creation, but Maria was also late. She was late for the church services. She always had to ask for forgiveness from the Mother Superior, and Maria makes me laugh. Despite of all her shortfalls, in spite of all her mistakes, when she ran into a place, everybody started laughing. I want to say to you today, laugh at your problem, because you know something? God has got a solution for you and He has got an answer, and if you do not lose heart and if you keep your faith in Him, He will bring it to pass, just like he gave that old lady, Sarah, a beautiful baby.Jesus bless you and have a happy day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 9th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of Luke 11:2-4: “So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven,Hallowed be Your name.Your kingdom come.Your will be doneOn earth as it is in heaven.Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins,For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.And do not lead us into temptation,But deliver us from the evil one.”We are talking this morning about the Lord's Prayer because I can hear somebody saying, ”I don't know how to pray.” Well, that's exactly what the disciples said to Jesus, “Lord, teach us how to pray like John taught his disciples.” And the Lord says, ”and this is how you shall pray.” It's not about the eloquence. It's about the heart.I remember when Jill and I first got saved, yes, not far off fifty years now! We were counselled in a counselling room after we'd made our commitment and they said, ”Come back next Wednesday night and we're going to start. We're going to have a Bible study.” We all sat in a circle. I'll never forget it. I was so nervous. The leader, I don't even know who the man was, I can't remember, said, ”We are going to start off by praying. How many of you know how to pray?” And of course, we went very quiet, all of us. There were about twelve of us there and he said, ”I'm going to start on this side and just pray. Now praying is speaking to Jesus, so speak to Jesus.”Well, I want to tell you, I was very nervous and I prayed a prayer, a simple prayer, but there was one man sitting in the circle, his name was John. You could see had been through fire of life and his prayer was, ”Oh God, please help me!” That's all he prayed. I've never forgotten that prayer, from the heart, desperate, calling out to his newly found Saviour, Jesus Christ.Today, just speak to the Lord. That's what prayer is. Tell Him your troubles, tell Him about your successes, tell Him about your ambitions, your visions, your future, and I want to tell you, it becomes a wonderful relationship. As I finish this message, I'm going to get on my bicycle and I'm going to go for a ride and I'm going to speak to Jesus, thank Him for His beautiful creation, the bush around us, the wild birds, the animals. That is what prayer is about and I know, when I come back from my ride, I will be like a new man. Do it today - in fact do it every day!Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 8th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 10:37: And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.” Jesus told the story of the Good Samaritan. Remember how he took care of the man that was stranded? He put him up in a hotel, paid for him, made sure that all his wounds were healed, gave him his own donkey to get to the hotel, and then told the inn keeper, ”And by the way, if you are short, on my way back from Jerusalem I'll square you up.” That's literally the story in a nutshell. Now, my dear wife, Jill, and I have been in Central Africa and I want to tell you, I am so excited to know that there are many Good Samaritans in this world. Not everyone is out to do you down. We were driving in a very isolated area on a Sunday afternoon, heading towards our destination, which we didn't even know existed, and a car came up alongside us and waved us down. There were young men in that car - well dressed, in a very fancy car. They said, ”Stop! You have got a blowout in your camping vehicle.” I couldn't believe my eyes. I stopped and they stopped as well. I said, ”Could you please help me?” They said, ”No problem.” They took off their fancy clothes. They got underneath the camper, they jacked it up. They took off the wheel which was blown completely. They took the other wheel off the back of the camper and they carefully bolted it onto the vehicle and they made sure that everything was put back correctly, the jack, the spanners - and they did it just because they wanted to help us. We were able to give them a beautiful Bible, just as a token of our appreciation. That is an act that I believe Jesus Christ wants to see you and I doing, not turning and looking the other way. We went on and a few days later, yes, we had another problem with the camper. We went into a little garage and there the man was busy stripping an engine. I said, ”I've got a problem, sir. Can you please help us? We are from South Africa.” No problem. He took us into his little coffee shop, made us at home, told the man to make us a meal, got underneath the camper and in no time he had replaced that broken part and wished us well. We were so grateful and thankful.Folks, today, let's be Good Samaritans. Let's not always want payment for what we do. Let us do good as unto the Lord and Jesus Christ will reward us just like He did the Good Samaritan. Jesus bless you richly today, have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 7th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Exodus 6:7. The Lord says: “I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the Lord your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.” Then we go to that very well-known scripture that I love so much found in Romans 10:13. The Lord says: For “whoever (that means you sir, that means you madam)…whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”We serve such a merciful God, such a forgiving God, it makes me weep sometimes. I read very recently the account where Abraham said to the Lord, “Lord, if there were 50 righteous men in Sodom and Gomorrah, would You save the city?” The Lord said He would and he said, “What if there were 30? What if there were 20? What about if there were 10 righteous men in that city, would You save the city for the sake of those 10?” And He said He would. I don't know who I am talking to this morning but I feel I am talking to someone who is very burdened and heavy-laden who feels not worthy to call upon the Lord because you have disappointed God, you have broken some commandment, you know it, you did it willingly and now you've realised what you have done. I want to say to you, own up, say sorry, truly repent, and God will forgive you. I don't care who you are, and then there might be some Pharisees, some self-righteous, “No, no, you can't do that.” Yes, you can. The Lord said, in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world…” Who is the world? It's you, it's me, it's the one who dropped the ball, it's the one who told that lie, it's the one who has taken something that doesn't belong to you. Take it back, say sorry, repent and get on with your life. The Lord says that He would save a whole city for the sake of 10 righteous men. There is not one person listening to this programme today who is righteous in their own strength, no, not one, but it is by grace. What is grace? Undeserved, loving kindness, unmerited favour, that is what grace means. We don't deserve it but because He loves us and He says, “I am your God and I will help you, and I will take you out of your predicament.” But we must do it God's way and then He will be free to set us alive, to give us new hope and a new beginning.Jesus bless you richly! Remember, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Just say sorry, ask God to help you, and He will see you through. Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 6th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Genesis 18:19: ”For I have known him,…” This is what the Lord is saying about Abraham, ”…in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord,…” We have an obligation, moms and dads. I'm talking to single parents, as well, to direct our children in the ways of the Lord. Then we go to John 15:16, and the Lord says:”You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” Wow, what a beautiful promise! You see, God chose Abraham, Abraham didn't choose God. God saw Abraham as an obedient man and He trusted him, and said he in turn must bring up his children and his household in the things of God. You and I have to do exactly the same. We must bring our children up in the ways of the Lord, the Bible says, and when they grow old, they will not depart from them. Now Dad, Mom, there comes a time in each family where the son or the daughter has come of age, then we need to understand that we have done as much as we can to bring them up in the ways of the Lord, then they have to go ahead on their own and do the job.I remember a sad story of one farmer, in fact two farmers, not related. The one farmer had to wait until he was 60 years old before his father released the reigns to him to continue with the farm. The father was 90 years old. Now the sad part of that story is, by the time a man gets to 60, if he hasn't realised his vision, the stuffing has been knocked out of him, excuse the pun. He has no desire to do anything because he has no vision, because when he was young and he was ready for it, his dad would not hand it over to him. I remember watching the life story of Henry Ford, and in the movie, his son went and built a beautiful motor car, a two-toned coloured motor car. He put a tarpaulin over it and then came and asked his dad to come with him. He wanted to show him what he had made. He pulled the tarpaulin off and this magnificent car was in the workshop. His dad was jealous, you see, he took a hammer that was standing by, a fourteen-pound hammer and bashed that car into pieces, but what he didn't realise was that not only did he break the car into pieces, he broke his son's heart into pieces as well.Today, give your son, your daughter, an opportunity to show you what they can do. You've done the groundwork, let them take it to the next level.God bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 5th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of Luke 10:20:”Nevertheless…” (Jesus says), ”… do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” Folks, this is a beautiful scripture. You know, when you stand before the Lord one day, the greatest thing you want to hear from God is, ”Well done, good and faithful servant, come and enter into thy rest.” The one thing you don't want to hear is, ”Who are you? Depart from Me, I never knew you.” The disciples had returned. They said to Jesus, ”Even the evil spirits, we cast them out and they go.” Jesus says, ”That's wonderful,” He said, ”But rather rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Isn't it a beautiful thing? You walk into someone's house, or into a business, and the person says, ”Hello John, hello Jack!” It makes you feel so good because he remembered you, and he remembered your name. Names are very important to me because I know they mean a lot to people. When you say, ”Hello brother, hello sister,” then you know they've forgotten your name, but when we stand before the Lord one day and He says, ”Welcome home!”- that is going to be the most incredible message to hear out of the mouth of God. He knows me! I want to ask you today, do you know Him personally as your Lord and Saviour? You might say: ”Look, I know about Him, Angus. My family are Christians, my grandfather was a great preacher.” No, but I'm saying, do you know Him? “Well, I hope so.” No, that's not good enough. So how can we be sure that God will recognise us when we get to Heaven? Well, the Bible says in Romans 10:9: ”that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Now what I want to do is pray with you and maybe you say, ”I've prayed that prayer before.” Well, maybe you want to do it again today because I tell you what, I pray that prayer constantly. Pray this prayer after me.Dear Lord Jesus, Today I want to be sure that when I die and I go to Heaven that You will recognise me and call me by my name, that You will say, ”Welcome home!” And I ask today Lord, that You confirm that, as I would confess You as my Lord and my Saviour, my only God, and the One who died for my sins on the Cross of Calvary. I ask these things in Jesus' name.AmenGod bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 4th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the first book of the Bible, Genesis 18:14: ”Is anything too hard for the Lord? “ That is a question that God asked Sarah when He told Abraham and Sarah they were going to have a baby, and Sarah was well past childbearing. She even giggled. She said, ”Is it possible for an old woman like me to conceive and to bear a child?”I want to say something to a lady listening to this programme today. There is nothing which is too hard for God. What we need to do is ask Him. We need to thank Him in faith, and then we need to trust Him for our miracle. He is the miracle-working God. That I know for sure. There are so many miracles that have happened in my life that I cannot even remember all of them. The one thing that restricts the moving of the Spirit of God is unbelief. That's the only time you tie God's hands and He can't work, if you don't believe. So, I'm going to pray for you at the end of this programme, that God will give you an extra portion of faith to believe for that baby in your life, young lady. I want to agree with you that God will give you the desires of your heart as you delight in Him. You'll find that in Psalm 37:4.I'm talking to that young man who is starting his business, and he just cannot see any way through; that young farmer who is facing a horrific drought or a problem with his crops; I'm talking about that young student who is getting ready to write his finals, and he doesn't think he can do it. You can - only believe! Now, how do we get that kind of faith? Well, the Bible tells us in Romans 10:17: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” I am speaking to you today and I am quoting the word of God. Now believe it. Don't doubt! Believe it and you will receive the thing which you are trusting God for. Father, I pray for my dear friends listening to this programme early this morning, that You will indeed honour the promise that You have given to them if they will only believe.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 3rd of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (Amplified Version): “…but just as it is written [in Scripture], “Things which the eye has not seen and the ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, who obey Him, and who gratefully recognise the benefits that He has bestowed].”For God has unveiled them and revealed them to us through the [Holy] Spirit;…” Oh folks. We need to open our eyes. We need to get out of that little matchbox mentality and we need to realise Who it is that you and I are serving! I have just had the privilege of seeing one of the wonders of the world. Yes, I'm talking about the Victoria Falls, where millions of tons of water are going over the edge of a depression in the ground. You see, in order to have a waterfall, you've got to have a mountain so the waterfall can caress down the mountain, but this is not the case with the Victoria Falls. If you've never been here, it is flat. There are no mountains here at all, so what has happened? Well, from a distance, you see a cloud in the sky. You think it's a cloud but it's not a cloud, it's just the mist from this incredible waterfall cascading into the depths of a literal cavity in the ground. Now, as a little boy coming from Central Africa, I've seen it many times, but you see the Lord talks about the Spirit of God that opens our spiritual eyes to see it in a different context. Oh folks. How can you believe that this happened by coincidence? No, this is the handwork of a mighty God!Now, what is it in your life today that you feel is too big for your God to handle? There is nothing too hard for God. That's what the Lord said to Sarah when she was close to a hundred years old and He said, ”You're going to have a baby.” I mean, it's impossible, but for God nothing is impossible. I want to tell you, I stood on the edge of that Victoria Falls. I got absolutely soaked by rain, but the rain wasn't coming from the clouds. There were no clouds. It was coming from the mist that this incredible waterfall was making. Today, open your spiritual eyes and see what God has in store for you, and it will lift you. It will build your faith and you'll start to believe for the impossible.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 2nd of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 15:13: “And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living.” That's a sad story, and unfortunately, it's very common, isn't it? This young man was the younger son of a farmer who had two sons. The older son remained at home and continued working hard. The younger son wasn't satisfied. He was rebellious. Yes, he refused to submit. He said to his father, “I want my inheritance now.” Maybe his father had to go to the bank and get an overdraft in order to pay out his younger son. Nevertheless, he did it, and the younger son went off. However, the next part of the story is very sad because he lost everything he had because he would not listen to his father. I saw something not so long ago when I was in Central Africa. I was in a beautiful little village. We went to a camping site and I went for a long walk in the morning. I took my staff and was walking along the road when I saw something I had never seen before. I saw a donkey tied up to a horse, around the neck, and the horse had a bell hanging from his neck. So wherever the horse went the bell was ringing and I wandered, being a farmer myself and a horse man, I wandered what was going on, but I could see the donkey was not very happy at all, but the horse was continuing to graze and the two of them were pulling each other along. Then I saw some stockmen and said to them, “What is happening here? Why are you doing this?” They said, “Well, this horse is a very stubborn and difficult animal.” The people in the rural areas had no fences to keep their animals in, so the horse would be off, running away, so they tied the horse to that donkey and the donkey lived in that village and he wasn't going to run away. And I said, “How long do you do that for?” They said, “Up to three months” and then eventually they release the horse from the donkey and that horse doesn't run away. I want to say to you today, you can either submit to the Lord gladly and willingly and learn, or you can be rebellious like that horse, and the Lord will allow things to happen to you, and you ask, “God, why are You doing this?” No, God is not doing it. You are bringing it on yourself because you will not submit to the principles that the Lord has put in the Bible for us. Today, just submit and you will find that your life will be much more pleasant and successful.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 1st of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today! We go straight to the Book of Genesis 2:19: ”Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air,…” God formed each and every one. In Southern Africa, we are now going into winter. The swallow has gone to the Northern Hemisphere. He has gone to his summer residence. He doesn't just go to the country, he goes to the county, he goes to the street, he goes to the very house and he goes back to the nest under some eve, in some barn, where he has built his little clay nest, and then when the winter starts in the northern hemisphere, he flies all the way, 6000 miles down, back down to his summer residence in Southern Africa. That is not coincidence, that is God in all His majesty! My wife and I are currently taking a break in Central Africa and are going to witness a migration of Wildebeest and Zebras, thousands of them, as they move down to the salt pans and the area where the grass will soon start growing. The local people have told us that the water is coming, but I said, “There is no rain in the sky”. They said, “No, it is raining in the western part of Africa, and the water will flow all the way, right the way down to the rivers, and into the wild salt pans and the grazing lands in this country.” And the zebras know that already. They are on their way, thousands of them and they will be here in a month's time, I was told. Again, I am amazed at God's miracle-working power. He created it all! I want to say to you today, don't let anybody tell you about coincidences. There is no such thing - these animals have been doing this migration for tens of thousands of years since the time that the Lord created the world. Today, just have a good look. Open your spiritual eyes and God will show you many things that He has created that we cannot even see anymore because we have no spiritual understanding. Let's take the word of God. He is the One who created every beast of the field and every bird of the air!God bless you and have a wonderful day. Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 30th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Luke 9:20: “He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Then we go to John 6:69: ”Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”The disciples had no doubt whatsoever about who Jesus Christ was. They knew that He wasn't just a good man, they knew that He wasn't just a prophet. They knew that He was Emanuel, God with us. Who do you say He is today? And that is critical for your Christian walk. You cannot serve two masters, either you serve God, or you serve the devil. Matthew 12:30, Jesus said: “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.”When it comes to the holiness and the deity of God, there can be no excuse. Either Jesus Christ is the Son of God or He is not, and if He is not, you cannot call yourself a Christian. We are believers, not even by what we read but what we believe. You see, there was no-one else who has ever raised a man from the dead - Lazarus, after he had been dead for four days in the grave. In the Middle East the body has already started to decompose. There is no man in history who has ever walked on top of the water and right across the Lake of Galilee, 21 km long and 13 km wide. He walked on top of the water. I want to tell you today, for me, Jesus Christ is the Miracle-Worker, but more than all of that, personally, He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Every hardship, trial, tribulation that I have been, and am still going through, I can manage only because of the grace of God who says, “I will never leave you and I will never forsake you. Today, be decisive because I want to tell you, He is the only one who can really help you, and He is more than willing.Jesus bless you and and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is the 29th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. I am sitting, looking into the most beautiful picture, the mighty Drakensberg Mountains, which run on the western side of our beloved South Africa and Kwazulu-Natal. There is only one Scripture that comes to mind that I want to share with you today, and it is found in Psalm 121:1-2:“I to the hills will lift my eyes —From whence comes my help?My help comes from the Lord,Who made heaven and earth.”Now, I quoted that Scripture on purpose because if we don't think very carefully about it, it looks like we are saying our strength and our health come from the mountains, but they don't come from the mountains. They come from the One who made the mountains, namely our beloved God and Saviour, Jesus Christ. You see, the Scripture goes like this:I to the hills will lift mine eyes?Where does my help come from?My help cometh from the LordWho made heaven and earthI want to ask you a question this morning, because I have time to meditate, looking at these beautiful blue mountains, partially covered in cloud. Where are you putting your strength? Where are you putting your hope? Is it in the government? Is it in the weather? Is it in the economic situation? Is it in your own physical wellbeing? If it is, you are going to be sorely disappointed in the future. Our hope comes from God alone. The Bible says, “If God is for us, no man will stand against us.” Romans 8:31. Today, looking at these majestic mountains that were formed with one word - that's what He said - I know again that my strength and my help comes from the One who created those beautiful mountains. Today, remember, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus Christ and not even on the mountains!God bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, it's the 28th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in 1 Corinthians 9:27. The Apostle Paul says: “But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.”Oh folks, you and I really need to walk the talk, don't we? People need to see Jesus in us. There is no use in “dropping the ball” every time. I am thinking about ordinary common things like your language. As a follower of Christ, you may not swear anymore. You know I had a terrible vocabulary because when I got uptight as a farmer, I would curse and I would blaspheme, but the amazing thing is, the day that I gave my life to Jesus Christ, I have never sworn since that day. That's a miracle. I have shouted a lot, but I have never, ever blasphemed. We need to conduct our behaviour which is befitting for a Christian. We cannot just do our own thing and say “Well, that's the way I am.” No, we have got to change because people are watching every single move we make. Paul says that is why he disciplines his body and brings it into subjection. You can't stand up in church with your hands in the air and praise God, and then go out and get blind drunk on Friday night and say, “Well, I am under pressure. I just wanted to get a bit of a release.” You can't do that. That's what keeps people out of the church. That is what keeps people from following Jesus. I used to say the same thing in the old days before I met the Lord. I would see some men who would tell me they are Christians, but then their lifestyle was pathetic. They couldn't feed their children, they didn't love their wives, and yet they were telling me to get my life in order, and I used to say to Jill, “If that man is a Christian, I will get to Heaven before he will.” But you see, I made a big mistake. Who said he was a Christian? He said he was, but on the day of judgement each one of us will have to give an account of our conduct. Let us start to discipline our bodies, our minds and our hearts, so that people will come to us and say, “I want what you've got.” And we will say, “What have we got?” “I see peace, I see love, I see acceptance, I see patience, I see Jesus in you.” Let's do it today.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 27th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go the Gospel of Luke 9:13: ”But He said to them (Jesus) “you give them something to eat.” Folks, that is a big and a tall order. Do you know, there were 5000 men there? They had nothing to eat. The disciples came to Jesus and said,“Lord, we've only got five loaves of bread and two fishes. How are we going to feed them?” Maybe God is asking you the same question this morning, ”You feed them.” And you say, ”But I can't Lord. I don't have any money left. I don't have any wherewithal.” He says, ”I've got it all. I've got all the money and all the wherewithal.”This story is very special in my life because I experienced it personally on the farm Shalom in 2007, when we hired a 5,000-seater tent and were expecting 5,000 men. What happened? 7500 men arrived! And I'll never forget the kitchen. The ladies came to me and said, ”Angus, please, I don't know how we're going to feed them. We've only catered for 5000 men and 7500 have arrived!" I want to say to that lady listening to this podcast. How would you like to have 2500 men come and spend the weekend in your home without your husband telling you they're coming? That's exactly how they felt. They said, ”When you get up and welcome them, please tell them to go easy on the food.”We were feeding them Friday night, Saturday (two big meals) - three meals in total. Well, I got up and I was so full of joy. I never expected such a big crowd of men. I said, ”Boys. There's a message from the kitchen. Eat as much as you can,” and these boys can eat, especially those from the Free State. They came in and they loaded up their plates. Well, I want to tell you, a miracle happened because they ate as much as they could for the whole weekend and at the end of the weekend, yes, my dear friend Peter, came into the prayer room and said to me, ”Angus,” he was in tears. He said, ”Three meals, twelve baskets collected of leftovers from each meal. Three times twelve is 36 baskets. We have just cleared thirty-six baskets of leftovers.”Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. If He tells you to do something, then do it and He'll perform another miracle in your life.God bless you and have a wonderful day.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 26th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Luke 8:23:”But as they sailed He (Jesus) fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water, and were in jeopardy.” Jeopardy means danger, peril, risk or harm. How are you today, my dear friend? Are you in peril? Are you in jeopardy? Are you fearful? Do you feel like you're drowning? Well, let's go on to verse 25: “But He said to them…” Jesus said to them “…Where is your faith?” Today, we need to exercise our faith when the going gets tough. You know the old saying, “When the going gets tough, the tough keep going.” Listen to this: “…Where's your faith?” Listen to this: ”And they were afraid, and marveled…” This is after Jesus had stood up in the middle of the storm. Folks, I've been to that lake. I want to tell you it's not that big, it's 13 kilometres wide, it's 21 kilometres long. A good swimmer can swim that lake on a calm day but I want to tell you, it is perilous when it comes to storms. Now, we have been in the middle of that lake and we've had Holy Communion with a couple of other boats. It is an awesome experience but that lake is very, very deep. It's the lifeblood of the whole of the Middle East in that area, and so they were very afraid and they marvelled when they saw that the Lord calmed the storm, ”… saying to one another, “Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!” You know, when we have our men's meetings all over the world, most of them are outdoors because there's no building that can house thousands of men, and then we are totally reliant on the weather and if the weather is otherwise, we have to call upon the name of the Lord. I don't know how many times, right up until the eve of the beginning of the meeting, when we have ordered a huge platform, toilets have been built, food has been organised, transport, advertising - and it is pouring with rain! That is when we have to call upon the Lord. “Lord. It's over to you.” We can do nothing else and many times, it makes me weep even telling this to you. I wake up in the early hours of the morning. I walk out. The rain has stopped on the big day. I look up into the sky, the stars are shining and then we say, ”Let it begin.” And what an incredible conference it is because the One who can direct the weather and the wind is Jesus Christ! Now, He can do the same in your life. What is it today that you are in jeopardy of? Let's put it before the Lord. Lord Jesus, I pray for my dear friend, listening to this message early this morning. Whatever it is, finances, health, future. Whatever it might be, we put it in your hands and we say, Lord, please work another miracle. In Jesus name. Amen.God bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 25th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Genesis 12:13: “Please say you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that I may live because of you.” Then we go straight to 1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”Folks, this story I am going to tell you is very sad for me because I love my wife, and I believe by the grace of God, I will die for her if necessary, but Abraham, the father of many, many nations, Abraham, the man that the Lord said, “He is My friend”, what did he do? He was afraid that Pharaoh was going to kill him because Sarah, Abraham's wife, was a very beautiful woman. So in order to save his skin, he said to Sarah, his wife, “When pharaoh asks you who you are, you must tell him that you are my sister and not my wife.” Now look, I am not laughing, this is very serious! So here is a man of God who is prepared to offer up his own wife in order to save his life. To me, that is probably top of the list when it comes to self-centredness, and yet, God still loved Abraham. How are you feeling today? Are you feeling like a failure? Have you done something that you should never have done, in order to save face or to save your reputation, and it has come at the cost of someone else? You might say, “That is exactly what I have done, and I feel wretched about it.” You know, Abraham didn't do that once, he actually did it twice, and yet God still forgave him and still used him to be the father of many nations. Our God is so gracious, He is so loving, but what do we need to do? We need to say sorry. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Please pray this prayer with me:Father God,I feel an absolute failure today. I feel I have let You down. I feel I have “dropped the ball,” as they say and I really don't know what to do.So I am coming to You today to ask that You forgive me and give me the strength to never do it again. In Jesus' name, Amen.God bless you and have a great day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 24th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Book of Galatians 3:1: “O foolish Galatians!” (Oh foolish John! Oh foolish Mary! Oh foolish Jenny! Oh foolish Matthew!) We go down then to verse 2: “This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?”Yes, what we are asking ourselves is a question. We started this race in the Spirit, remember Jesus saved us. Remember, we were falling apart, we had come to the end, we couldn't go on anymore. We cried out to God, and He saved us. Now He has restored us! Have we now forgotten where we came from? Sometimes it is good to look back and remind yourself that if it wasn't for the Lord, I would be lost indeed. Don't try and finish the job that you started in the Spirit by doing it in your own strength. That is what the Lord is saying. That is why that hymn that is so popular, Amazing Grace - that's what it's all about. John Newton found the Lord. Remember how it went?“Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; I was blind, but now I see.”You were blind, you called out to God, He saved you, He saved me. Now that we can see, let us not go back to where we came from.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 23rd of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of Luke 9:3: “And He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece.” I think the Lord is telling you and me this morning that we need to travel lightly in this world. You know, sometimes I marvel when I travel in an aeroplane, especially going on a long trip overseas, and I sit quietly in my seat, and I watch the things that people bring onboard onto that aeroplane, how they push and shove and try and stuff their bags into that little overhead compartment. They are red-faced, some of them are perspiring, they are totally stressed out and they are just totally overdoing it. And you know, the thing is, half of that stuff they carry, they won't even use. We need to be very careful. I am not just talking about physical things. I am talking about spiritual things as well, stressing and worrying. Often when I go to a farm dispersal sale where maybe a farmer has decided to stop farming and retire and they have an auction, and you walk around the yard and they have all kinds of implements to sell, and you will see a heap of chain. Now a farmer can use chain, chain to pull a tractor out of a ditch, chain to tie up a gate, and they will make a bid on a heap of chain, ordinary chain. They will buy that chain and they will take that chain to their farm and it will lie there until that farmer is not farming anymore and then someone else will buy it! I have seen it! I have done it!We need to start being more careful that we don't overload ourselves with things which are of no consequence. We need to focus on Heaven - on Heaven, where no rust or moth will destroy our possessions, where no thief will steal. We need to start storing up riches in Heaven where we will be able to use them forever and ever. I am talking about prayer, I am talking about reading your Bible. I am talking about getting up in the morning and spending ample time with God. We need to really be very careful how we use our time and don't waste it on things of this earth that we will never use.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 22nd of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Mark 5:36: ”As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” Then we go straight to 2 Timothy 1:7:”For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Remember, the people came to the ruler of the synagogue and said, ”Don't trouble the Master anymore, your daughter is dead.” And Jesus reply was: ”Do not be afraid; only believe.” You see, the opposite of faith is fear, and the devil will put fear into your heart everytime and that's how he kills us. He doesn't have the power to kill us, but what he does, he tells lies and if we believe his lies, it's his lies, my dear friend, that will kill you, nothing else.I remember like yesterday, and if you've seen the movie, 'Faith Like Potatoes', you know it so well. I went down to King's Park, a big rugby stadium, very close to us in Durban, South Africa, and we were experiencing the threat of El Nino, that horrific drought. The radios were saying don't plant anything, only plant maize on your best fields because it's not going to rain, and I stood on the platform that night, I was so angry with the devil. I said, ”To hell with El Nino. I'm going home to plant potatoes.” I'd never planted a potato in my life and I had no irrigation, and any farmer will tell you, you can't plant potatoes in this country without water, without irrigation, and of course because I'd opened my mouth and I'd spoken the word of faith, I went home and I planted potatoes. The result was a crop of potatoes, but not only potatoes. It increased my faith unbelievably. Today, believe on the promises of God and He will do the rest. Walk by faith and not by sight. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 21st of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the first book of the Bible, Genesis 12:3, and the Lord says:”I will bless those who bless you…” [He's talking about Abraham] “…and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” What an incredible promise to receive from God and how is that? Well, the answer is found in the Book of James 2:23: “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.” How would you like to be called the friend of God? Everybody wants to be God's friend, even the devil, but I want to tell you something, this scripture tells us that God said, “That farmer, Abraham, is my friend.” He doesn't say that to many people. We might ask ourselves the question, why? Well, it's very simple - because Abraham obeyed the Lord. Abraham became God's friend because he did what God told him to do.A good idea is not always a God idea. I think you've heard us say that before. Abraham was a very prosperous farmer. He wasn't going bankrupt, he wasn't trying to make “Plan B”. No, no! He was very prosperous, but he left everything that he had and he went, not to another country, not to another destination, to an unknown destination. God said, ”I will show you where to go.” He did it immediately. That's why God loved Abraham so much folks. We need to hear from God! Many many years ago when I first met the Lord in a very real way, yes, close to fifty years now, I was so in love with the Lord, I still am, maybe even more so today because I know Him better. I felt that a good idea would be for me to give, not sell, my farm away, go to Bible College, study the Word, (there's nothing wrong with that, by the way) and then become a pastor, but I went to the mountain and I fasted and prayed for six days and then I came back and I said to Jill, my dear wife, my best friend, I said, ”We're not going anywhere. We're not giving the farm away. We are staying right here.” And that is exactly what I did and as a result the Lord has blessed me unimaginably! I could never dream what was going to take place on this farm. You do the same today - do what Abraham did. Obey God and He will be your friend!Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 20th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 10:27: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” Can you hear His voice today? You know, I marvel when I maybe get invited to a birthday party and there's are a whole lot of young mothers and they all chatting, having a cup of tea together, and all the little children are playing on the playground, maybe 10, 15 children, little ones, under 4 years old, and all of a sudden one of them falls and starts to cry. It's a miracle. I just hear a whole lot of children shouting and playing but that mother, the mother of that child, straight away, she puts her cup down and she goes straight to the playground to her child. Why? Because she knows her child's voice even if she's crying. It's incredible, it's a miracle! I read something very special the other day. It is not unusual for a person who loses someone very dear to them to hang on to a final voice mail recording, just to be able to hear their voice again. How many times have you heard that? Sad but true. The Good Shepherd knows His sheep and they know His voice. In the Middle East they don't chase sheep around with sheepdogs like we do in the west. No, the shepherd calls his sheep and his sheep follow him, it's quite something to see. I've got a son who uses cattle dogs to herd his cattle. These dogs are amazing. I love them, I pat them, I talk to them but they don't listen to me. They only listen to one voice and that is my son's voice. Why? Because they know him. When a child is in it's mothers womb is already connecting with mom, and when it's born and it grows and mom speaks to that child, and dad, every day, when they grow up there's a bond that cannot be broken. Now, we need to hear the voice of the Good Shepherd. In John 14:6, Jesus said: “I am the way…”. We need to listen to that beautiful voice, still small voice, and we need to obey Him, then we will not get caught up on the wrong road and get ourselves into trouble. Today, listen and hear the voice of God. He is speaking to you.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 19th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Mark 16:15: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Just that far - we need to do it! We can't keep Jesus hidden in our homes. We have to tell the world the wonderful news. I read a beautiful illustration in one of Charles Swindoll's devotionals. This is how the story goes: “During the reign of Oliver Cromwell, the British government began to run low on silver for coins. Lord Cromwell sent his men to the local cathedral to see if they could find any of the precious metal there. After investigating, they reported: “The only silver we can find is in the statues of the saints standing in the corners.” To which the radical soldier and statesman of England replied: “Well melt down the saints and put them into circulation!” That brief but direct order states the essence of the practical goal of authentic Christianity, not rows of silver saints crammed into the corners of cathedrals, but melted saints circulating through the mainstream of humanity.”Isn't that beautiful? You and I have to get out there and we have to be prepared to be melted if necessary, to be mocked, to be criticised but to make a difference, to tell people about Jesus Christ. It is no good keeping your Christianity hidden. We need to get out there and tell the people, just like Oliver Cromwell got those saints, melted them, made them into coins and sent the coins all over England. Let us get out there, not just be a Christian on Sunday morning, but Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and make a difference in a world that is desperate to hear the truth.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 18th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 8:48: “And He said to her (Jesus), “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” Then we go to Romans 8:11: “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” What beautiful scriptures! Remember the woman who had the issue of blood? She could not stop bleeding. She had been to the doctors. She had spent all her money and the doctors had tried to help her, twelve years she was in that state then she went on her own when she knew Jesus was coming. She pushed through the crowd and she said to herself, “If I can only just touch the hem of His garment, I'll be healed." And of course, she did, she pushed through, I can just imagine her going through the crowd and getting nice and low, touching the hem of His garment, and instantly the blood dried up and she was healed. Jesus turned around and said, “Who touched Me?” And the disciples said, “Lord, there are people pushing from all angles. How can we know who touched You?” And she said, “It was me, Lord.” And what did Jesus say? He said, “Go in peace because your faith has made you well.”On Easter Sunday, Resurrection Sunday, just a short while ago, I took the service here at Shalom, and I told them I would be praying for the sick. A lady brought her son to be healed. He was a grown man. He had cancer of the brain. She came forward, we anointed him with oil like we did with all the people who came forward. We prayed a simple prayer of faith, and God, through the power of His Holy Spirit, touched that young man and healed him. Now, she went to the specialist the next week, and she said to the specialist, “My son has been healed in Jesus' name.” She claimed his healing! The specialist looked at her and said, “No, he has got cancer.” She said, “Please do another MRI on him, another test." He did that.He was very, very skeptical and he wanted to know what happened. She said she had been to a healing meeting and she believed her son was healed. Well, reluctantly, he went and did it and afterwards he came out and his face was quite pale. And he said to her, “There is no cancer in your son's brain. He is healed!”Today, claim your healing from Jesus.Have a wonderful day!
I greet you in Jesus' precious name. It is Tuesday morning, the 17th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go the Book of Genesis 11:9:”Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth;…” Then we go straight to 2 Corinthians 6:16: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” Babel - you know, I looked up the Oxford dictionary. It means, confused noise made by many people speaking together. The Lord saw what the people were doing. They were trying to build a tower to get to heaven and so what He did was, He confused their language. They all started speaking different languages and they could not work together to try and build this tower to heaven. Often, the Lord will confuse an issue because He is trying to save us. He's trying to save us from trying to be like God.I have a beautiful grand-daughter. She is a speech therapist. She studied language and the art of speaking at university and she sat with me one day and she said to me, ”Grand-dad, it is so complex. The Lord has created us in such a very special way that to be able to speak, to use your tongue and your voice box is incredible. It is a miracle, there's no doubt about it."I have just taken a photograph of a stone carving that I picked up in Ethiopia. It is of the last supper, Jesus with His disciples, but at the bottom you will see a language. It's the original language in Ethiopia which is 3000 years old. That language was written and spoken 1000 years before Christ was born. You're talking about a long time ago, but I want to tell you that God sent His Son Jesus Christ down from heaven to earth to give you and me a brand new language. It's called love.I've spoken to people all over the world who can't speak english and I can't speak their language, but once we are in Christ, it is miraculous how we can talk to one another through the language of Jesus Christ which is the language of love! Today, go out and love someone even if you can't speak their language and the Holy Spirit will unite you together in a miraculous way.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name. It is Monday morning, the 16th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Matthew 11:28-30. Jesus says:”Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” The Lord never promised us, when we gave our lives to Him, that it was going to be easy, but what He did promise us is that He's going to walk with us through this troubled life in which we are living at the moment. We are stressed out, we are worried, we are fearful about so many things, but all the Lord has asked you and me to do is to stand. He says that in Ephesians. “Stand” He says. The battle belongs to the Lord, take it to Jesus. You say, “Why?” I'll tell you why, because He knows, and He really does understand what you are going through.I really want to caution folks who are trying to comfort others who are stressed out at the moment, who have been through a tragedy in their lives. Do not say, ”I understand,” especially if you've never been there. Rather, put your arm around them, love them, weep with them, and just sit with them and have a cup of tea with them, but don't come and start giving them all your personal opinions. Oh, it's happened to me. I've been in the depths of despair where there's been no light at the end of the tunnel and I just don't know how I'm going to get through or over this mountain. Those are the times when you need people who can come and sit with you and just love you and allow the Holy Spirit to walk with you through your time of testing. You see, Jesus does understand. He was in the Garden of Gethsemane. He was so stressed out that He was sweating blood, folks. He does understand. Take your burdens to the Lord today. Cast your burdens upon Jesus because He cares for you.Today is a day that you can come aside and say, ”Lord, this is my situation, this is my financial situation, this is my relationship situation, this is my business challenge, and I'm giving it to You because You said to me in Your word, “Cast your burdens upon Jesus because He cares for you”, and you'll find that in 1 Peter 5:7.Jesus bless you and remember He cares, and He will see you through.God bless you and goodbye
I greet you in Jesus' precious name. It is Sunday morning, the 15th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. It is Father's Day, and I really want to congratulate all fathers, not an easy job, on this day the scripture that I have for you is found in Exodus 20:12: “Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.” It is the first commandment in the Bible with a promise added to it. Honour your dad, so that your days may be long in the land. Now, I want to speak to young people, and I want to be straight with you, this programme, we don't do it to tickle ears. The truth of the matter is that a lot of dads, a lot of fathers don't justify to be honoured. Oh no, some fathers are abusive, other fathers are absent, other fathers are adulterers. So what is the Lord saying? The Lord is saying that we must honour our parents, so you don't have to agree with them, you don't even have to love them. Now that might be tough one. You say, “Uncle Angus, I can't love him”. But you can honour him because God says you must. You can pray for him because God says we must pray for one another and trust God for a miracle in your relationship. But I want to speak to other dads. I want to say I am so proud of you. It is so wonderful to see sons and fathers, daughters and fathers together. You know, that's one of the highlights for me at Mighty Men Conferences, to see a father standing arm in arm with his son. We always say, if a boy is twelve years old and he can ride a horse and can shoot a rifle, he is a man, and therefore he is eligible to come to a Mighty Men Conference, but to see them sitting together… It is not easy, young men, to honour your dads - different opinions, different generations, different backgrounds, but nevertheless, the Lord says He promises you that your days will be long in the land if you would honour your father. So today, just ask the Lord Jesus to give you that love for him, and I am telling you that it will change your life forever. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful Father's Day today, dad, as your wives, your daughters, your sons, your grandsons (I have got a great-grandson), honour you today and give God the glory for your life.In Jesus name,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name. It is Saturday morning, the 14th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. I want us to go to the Book of Philippians 4:19: “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” All your needs, not all our wants, no, but all our needs! I want to talk to you today about tools. You must have the right tools for the job. We need the tools for the work that God has called us to, and in Philippians 4:19, He has already told us that He will supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. I had a tremendous desire, I still do, to get the Gospel of Jesus Christ into Central Africa, and the Gospel is the Word, and the Word, according to Psalm 119:105: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” I had a dream to have a huge truck and I would call it the Seed-Sower. I think you've heard about it! Yes, a 20-ton Mercedes Benz, 4 x 4 truck. 32 gears in that truck, an 80 kilowatt lighting plant on the back, a platform that came down from the side that could accommodate a whole band and the preacher, and one name on the side, “JESUS”, that's all. The colour? Bright yellow because they tell me that that is the colour that is easiest to identify, especially when you are reading. It even had 4 diesel tanks. It could go almost through a whole country without having to refill. It had a water tank on the back because many places we visited had water that was not drinkable, and it supplied all of our needs: to shower, to cook, and to drink. There we went out and took Bibles, thousands of Bibles and tracts and Christian books. We took food and clothes. The funny thing is, they never wanted the food and the clothes so much, but they wanted the Word of God, the Bible. We had the tools of the trade and then by faith we went out into unreached people groups where the Gospel had not been heard before, a most incredible experience, little children running out of their huts, never having seen a white man before. It was quite amazing and so open and so loving. Sowing good seed because we had the right tools! Get the right tools first before you do the job. Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 13th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in 2 Corinthians 8:9: “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” What a beautiful promise from a wonderful Saviour! Then we go straight to Philippians 2:7: “…but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.”Our beloved Lord Jesus, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Lily of the Valley, the Bright Morning Star, the Great Ploughman, the Shepherd of the sheep - He came from Heaven, left His throne, and was born in a manger, (a feed trough, that is what a manger is, where you put food for cattle and sheep to eat, that was His manger), in the form of a helpless little Baby. The King of Glory to become a helpless little baby! He gave up everything for you and for me. My dear lady, I want to tell you, God loves you that much! He became poor so that you and I could become rich. All we have to do is receive that gift. Say “Thank You, Lord, I receive it, I once was lost but now I am found.” He has made us in His own image and He has given us the ability to receive all the riches that He has in store for us. What is it today that you require of the Lord? You say, “I am poverty stricken, I can't read very well, I can't speak very well, I can't write very well. I am not much of a sportsman.” Are you talking about me? That's exactly how I was. Ja, I left school early but I had one desire and one dream. “Lord, I want to tell people about You.” Remember, I used to practice, preaching to the maize plants in the field, and then when I wanted to pray the Sinner's Prayer with them, a gentle breeze would come up and all the maize plants would bow their heads. Yes, it is a joke but it is not a joke actually, it is true and He can do the same for you. All you have to do is to ask Him. He says, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7Do it today and He will help you!Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 12th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Genesis 9:13: “I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.” Then we go to the Book of Hebrews 12:24:”…Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant,…” God gave us, you and me, the most beautiful sign in the sky that He would never ever flood the earth again. Now, being a farmer, I study the clouds, I study the weather, and after a beautiful shower of rain on a hot summer's afternoon, what do we see? We see a beautiful rainbow in the sky, a sign that the Lord has given to you and me that He will never flood the earth with water again, but God has now given us yet another even more powerful sign - a cross. You know folks, I want to tell you honestly, Jesus Christ has been made the Mediator (that is what it says in Hebrews) between God and ourselves. What is a mediator? Well, the Oxford Dictionary calls a mediator, a peacemaker, a go-between, a middleman, and that is what Jesus Christ is to you and I. I don't know how many and maybe a lot of you listening to this message have seen it as well - I have seen a cross in the sky. Oh yes, I have seen a cloud with a cross cut out of the cloud. Then I have seen a cloud in the form of a cross, not once, many times in our great outdoor meetings, and there are thousands of witnesses who have seen the same cross. That cross is a New Covenant between you and me and the Lord Jesus Christ. The Father sent His Son down to finish the job. “Go down Son, and be the final covenant between Myself and man.” If any man or woman, boy or girl, be in Christ Jesus, they are a new creation. So if you love Jesus Christ today, you have nothing to fear. When you see the rainbow in the sky, it is a beautiful reminder. Oh, but when you see the cross, you know that we have eternal life through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Have a beautiful day and continue to be a cloud watcher, because remember, at the end of the day, the Master is coming back in the clouds to take you and I home to be with Him in glory forever and ever, amen.
