I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 18th of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 17:5-6: “And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith. So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.”I am talking this morning about faith. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”Hebrews 11:6 As I was meditating on this scripture early this morning in my quiet time room, the Lord brought to memory what took place in my life on the 17th of November, 1989, a long time ago. I was sitting having my quiet time. I had been reading a book written by John Wimber, called Evangelism Explosion. In the back of that book, there were a whole lot of anecdotes and little cameos of mighty men and women of God who dared to believe God and to trust God by faith, and how the Lord had used them. Very few of them were qualified. They were ordinary working people just like you and I, and I got so excited. I got on my phone. In those days, we had the old phone, you had to crank it up, and I got hold of my pastor in Grey Town and I said to him, “Gavin, the Lord has revealed something to me today and I have to share it with you.” And he said, “What is it?” I said, “I have just been reading a book about men and women of God who have been used mightily by the Lord, and there is a golden thread that goes through each one of their stories, and it is one word, 'faith', having faith the size of a mustard seed."He got so excited, he turned around and took his ball-point pen, and wrote on the wall of his office, and the office had just recently been painted, and he wrote, “17th November '89” and he put my name there, and it stayed there until that church got repainted. Well, I want to tell you, that was the beginning. From there, I took that seed of faith and I went to a nearby town called Ladysmith, and I booked the town hall, the first thing I had ever done in my life, and that was the beginning of what the Lord has done, by faith, nothing to do with me.Today, I challenge you to trust the Lord for that thing that you are believing for, but it must be so big that if it is not of God, it is going to fail. Why? Because when it works, God gets all the glory. Jesus bless you walk by faith and not by sight.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 17th of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Book of Romans 4:17: “God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;…” Then of course we have got to go to the Book of James 2:23: “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.” There are not many places in the Bible where God calls any man His friend. Everybody wants to be God's friend. The Bible tells us that God looked down from Heaven, He saw that farmer, Abraham, because Abraham believed Him, and He called Abraham His friend.I got a beautiful message all the way from the Outback of Australia, where the tough men farm, where sometimes it doesn't rain for maybe up to 7 years, and these men, by faith, plant their crops every year, trusting by faith that God will honour them. He sent me this little quotation and I think it is priceless, and I want to share it with you. He says, “What's going on around you is only limited by what's going on in you.” Don't you think it is special? I really have sat and thought about this saying. It is so deep. “What's going on around you is only limited by what's going on in you.”Abraham was 100 years old. His wife was in her 90's. God said, “You are going to be the father of many nations. You are going to have a son and you will name him Isaac, and Isaac will be the father of many nations.” If you love Jesus Christ today, my dear friend, and you are a follower of Christ, you are a son or a daughter of Abraham by faith. What you say is what you get. When I was farming as a young man and I had come to know Christ as my Saviour, we had no irrigation on this farm, nothing, and when things got dry, I got on my knees, and I started to pray the prayer of faith, calling those things that aren't as if they were, getting in my pick-up every morning and driving around the crop as the maize was starting to die, and saying, “Lord, I believe in the promises of God. Lord, you said it, I believe it and that settles it.” And that is exactly what happened.Today, start to call those things that aren't as if they were by faith and trust the love of Christ to bring them into being. Have a wonderful day, Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 16th of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Book of Galatians 3:2-3. The Lord says: “This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?” Jesus Christ is our only source of salvation. We have got to stop striving and trying to earn God's favour. You can't work your way to Heaven. It is for free. His love and His favour are free. Free means gratis, for nothing - not for nothing, it cost Jesus Christ His life, so that your sins and my sins could be washed away. You see, you can't pay for it, you can't work for it, and you can't earn it! You have just got to believe it.That beautiful scripture in Ephesians 2:8:"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,…” What a beautiful scripture, and we thank the Lord for it, because that is where you and I can put our trust and hope in. We only have to believe. Now let's finish this race, you and I, the way we started, by just saying thank you to the Lord. He paid for it all. Remember that little song? We have sung it before. It goes like this:He paid a debt He did not oweI owed a debt I could not payI needed someone to wash my sins away. And now I sing a brand new songAmazing graceChrist Jesus paid a debt that I could never pay!I am going to sing it again because I want you to hear these words. I am listening to them myself. It is good news, my friend. It's wonderful! He paid a debt He did not oweI owed a debt I could not payI needed someone to wash my sins away. And now I sing a brand new songAmazing graceChrist Jesus paid a debt that I could never pay!Father, I pray for my friend listening to this message, that he or she will understand one thing today - our way to Heaven is not by good works. It is by believing that Jesus Christ died for all of my sins.God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 15th of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 16:11-12:”Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if you have not been faithful in what is another man's, who will give you what is your own?” Those are strong words spoken by the Master Himself, our Lord Jesus Christ. Because we are Christians, that does not give us an excuse to be second-rate, to be slack, to be lazy, or not to do our best at work.If we are to be ambassadors of Jesus Christ in the workplace, then we need to do it as if we were doing it to God Himself. We need to operate in our God-given gift. I don't know how many young men and women I meet sometimes, ”I just want to serve the Lord.” Well, serve Him in the business field first, before you want to go out and preach to others. Now the Lord Jesus is talking about a man who is shrewd. “Shrewd” means having or showing sharp powers of judgement, being an astute operator or businessman. We need to work hard in the business field, not only for ourselves, but for our fellowman, but mainly for the Lord. Do it well, not for personal gain but as a witness for Jesus. Be the best farmer you can be. Be the best professional sportsman or woman you can be. Be a good teacher, an artist, a doctor, a truck driver as unto the Lord. I read something very encouraging and it goes like this: Individuals who integrate their Christian faith into their business practices and leadership, that's what God is looking for - integrity, honesty, service, impacting communities especially in the workplace, living out their faith in the marketplace.I looked up John D Rockefeller, an American businessman. He was in the oil business. They say that he was the most successful businessman of his era. He reminds me of Joseph. You know that Pharaoh made Joseph his prime minister. He was the second most powerful man on earth. Remember, he was a slave, sold into slavery, he made an impact, he saved a nation.Today, use your God-given gifts for the glory of God and enjoy what you're doing.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 14th of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 15:31: “And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.” That was the response of the father when the prodigal son had come home after wasting all his money, and his father was so pleased to see him come back that he killed the fatted ox, and he had a party for his young son. The older son had been working all day in the fields. He came home and saw what his father had done for his brother and he was plain jealous. Another word for jealousy is resentment, bitterness, holding a grudge. Now I can hear somebody saying, “But I would be the same as the older son! I mean that young boy demanded his inheritance. He went and blew it on wine, women and song, lost everything, cost his dad and his older brother a lot more blood, sweat and tears, then he comes home and his dad treats him like a prince.” We need to be so careful that we do not lose our focus. His dad said, ”Son, I have given you everything I've got, you are going to inherit this farm. Why are you so upset?” We need to be so careful that we don't forget what God has given to us. Like you get a man who has been in the far country, he's been a reveller, a drinker, a fighter, a thief, then he comes to Christ and his sins are forgiven. They've been washed away. He is a brand new man in Christ.” …if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away…” 2 Corinthians 5:17Now, when you see that, and you've been serving the Lord for maybe 20 - 30 years, and this new boy on the block, he seems to be getting all the accolades, all the privileges and everybody's excited about him, but I want to say to you that the Lord loves you. He loves your faithfulness, He loves your hard work, He loves the fact that you have not dropped the ball, you have never let the Lord down, and there is a great reward waiting for you and me when we get to heaven. Remember, this is not the end of the road. This is only the beginning of the road! So have mercy on the person who has made a big mistake, but who has come home. Give them grace, give them love, let them get excited. Don't correct them all the time because they are so full of joy, their sins have been forgiven. Just remember that there is a great reward waiting in heaven for your obedience, your faithfulness, not falling by the way, but keeping on for the Lord.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 13th August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Psalm 20:7: ”Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” Our faithful God who keeps His promises! Then we go to Genesis 40:23. Remember, Joseph had interpreted the dreams of the butler and yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph but forgot him. Joseph said to him,“When you meet with Pharaoh and you find favour with Pharaoh, don't forget to put in a good word for me.” And he forgot. How often have we been in that situation? Who do you and I put our trust in? Who can you trust today? You can't even trust yourself, can you? We need to remember to keep our promises.I want to start with a Marriage Covenant. Husbands, you made a promise on the day that you got married that you would be faithful to your wife, and I want to say to that young lady, you made a promise on the day of your wedding that you would remain faithful to your husband. It is a Marriage Covenant. We need to keep it.What about appointments? You know, some people make a joke of it. They say, ”Oh, he's always late.” I want to say to you it's just as easy to be early as it is to be late. In fact, when you are late, you are showing that person you don't really value them, otherwise you would be on time. You see, the Master was never early, He was never late, He was always on time.If you go to the Gospel of John 11:32, you see Mary was so upset because her brother had died, and they had waited for Jesus to come and He came four days later. She said in verse 32: “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.” But of course we know the end story. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. Please today, if you make your child a promise - you say, ”Son, I'm coming to watch you play your sports match today,” you better be there. “No, but maybe there'll be something else.” If you made the promise, keep it, because If you let him down, you let her down, they won't forget that in a hurry. If you are trying to influence a young lady, young man, don't be late for your appointment. Be early, and don't forget to bring a bunch of roses with you when you take her out.Jesus bless you and keep your promise, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 12th of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Genesis 39:3:”And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand.” Then we go straight to 1 Corinthians 10:12:”Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.” What had happened was Joseph had found favour with Potiphar, Pharaoh's officer. The Bible tells us that Joseph was a very handsome young man and everything he did, he succeeded in and Potiphar gave him control over his whole household, but there was problem. There was Potiphar's wife who looked at Joseph and wanted to sleep with Joseph. Joseph did not yield to the temptation, but it got him into big trouble.I want to say to you today, be careful how you stand lest you fall - that's what the Lord says! You know, the most dangerous place to be is really in a place where you are succeeding. When you are taking strain and you're down on you knees, you can't fall any further, can you? But when you succeed the devil will try everything to tempt you to fall. When your business is going well and you, all of a sudden, start throwing caution to the wind, as they say. You start taking chances because you think you can't fail and that is when you overstep your mark and you end up getting into big financial trouble. We really need to be careful. You know, I heard a very sad story about a young golf professional. He was a rookie, he had just started. A very big club employed him, the people loved him, he was a good looking man, he was a very good golfer. He had great prospects, and after he had played his 18 holes, the older guys in the club would invite him up to come and have a drink with them. He said, ”Sir, I don't drink, but thank you for the kind offer.” But they persisted. You see, just like Potiphar's wife persisted with Joseph, but unlike Joseph, this young man eventually said he would go up to the club and have a few drinks. Of course, he continued to do that and eventually he started to have a drinking problem. The tragedy is, the very same men who persuaded him to come and have a drink with them said, “Let's get this youngster out of the club because he's become a drunkard and he's an embarrassment to us.” The very same people! Be careful how you stand today, lest you fall. Do not let success cause you to be tempted to compromise your stand for God.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 11th of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to Psalms 62:5: ”My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him.” Then out of the Message translation, it says: God, the one and only—I'll wait as long as he says. Everything I need comes from him, so why not?” Then the last one is from the Passion translation. It says: ”I am standing in absolute stillness, silent before the one I love. Waiting as long as it takes for Him to rescue me. Only God is my saviour and He will not fail me.” Who do you have your expectation in today? Is it the Government? No, you say you're very disappointed. Is it maybe your favourite sports team that has let you down again and you're feeling so despondent today? Is it maybe more personal? Is it at work? Has your employer disappointed you? What about at home? How is it with your wife? How is it with your husband? Have they disappointed you? What about your children? Are they just not performing at school or university? It's costing you an arm and a leg and they just don't seem to be trying their best? You see, the problem is not with all of those things. The problem is with us, with you and me. Our expectation is in the wrong place. Our expectation needs to be in God alone! One of my favourite scriptures is found in Hebrews 13:6: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” If Jesus Christ is Lord of your life this morning, you have nothing to be afraid of. You will not be disappointed and He will not fail you.Do you know that beautiful chorus, He is Lord? Maybe you and I today need to sing it. Maybe we haven't sung it for a long time. Please join me:For He is Lord, He is Lord,He has risen from the dead, and He is Lord.Every knee shall bow, every tongue confessthat Jesus Christ is Lord!Go out today and let your expectation be in Christ alone, and you will have a beautiful day!God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 10th of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to 2 Corinthians 9:7:”So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.” I want to say to you today that I read a beautiful article written by an elderly pastor from America, a man who I respect greatly, and I'm just going to read it to you. This is what it says:”Are you aware of what waiters and waitresses say about the Christians they serve? Do you have any idea how much they dread waiting on our tables in restaurants after church on Sundays or any other day, when we go in groups with big Bibles under our arms? We gobble up the food asking for this favour and that favour, seldom pausing long enough to smile or say, “Thank you”. That's bad enough, but when we leave a tip, that is more of an insult than a generous expression of gratitude! Just last week a waiter informed me that the place where he works has the toughest time getting a full crew of waiters who wait on tables on Sundays. “We'd all rather work late on Friday and Saturday nights, week after week, than work Sunday afternoons,” He said. When I asked, ”Why?” He told me, ”Because Christians are usually loud. They often lack good table manners, and they are stingy with the tips.” The waiter who spoke to me is a Christian. He's on our side and he's embarrassed! He says that he has a rough time talking to the crew about Christ after the place closes at night. They give him the cynical, ”You've got to be kidding!” response, that comes after six or eight Christ followers walk away, leaving a Christian tract or a one-dollar bill or maybe just the tract. Sometimes neither at all!If you're among the thoughtful, the gracious, the kind who leave a full 15% or more, keep it up, may your tribe increase, but if you're the type who falls into the tightfisted and less than thoughtful category, how about thinking of your witness as something more than a Bible in your pocket and words out of your mouth. Sometimes it's what comes out of your pocket after something has gone into your mouth, and I'm not referring to a tract. Listen, it's possible to give away and become richer. It is possible to hold on too tightly and lose everything. Yes, the liberal man shall be rich by watering others he waters himself. (Proverbs 11:24-25). Come on Christian, loosen up! If you can afford to eat out, you can also handle a healthy tip. Maybe all you needed was a shot in the arm.”Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day and don't forget to tip generously,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 9th of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in 2 Timothy 1:5: “…when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.“Today in South Africa, we remember National Women's Day. I want to pay tribute today to the women. Lois and Eunice are not names that are used a lot in this day and age, but Lois was Timothy's grandmother, and Eunice was Timothy's mother, and these two ladies had a profound influence on the apostle Timothy's life. Installed by the power of the Holy Spirit, Timothy had faith, so much so that the great apostle Paul mentioned it. He said, “That faith is also in you.”I want to say today to the men, we need to love our women. In fact, that's what the word says. It says, “Women submit to your husbands, but husbands, love your wives.” We need to treat them in a very special way because we need to respect them as handmaidens of the Lord. You know that Mary Magdalene was a huge influence on Jesus' life. She was so faithful. She remained faithful to Jesus when all the disciples ran away and forsook Him. She never left His side.I want to tell you a little story. My mother told me that when I was a newly born baby, I don't think I was two or three months old, I had a digestive problem where the food could not go into my stomach. She took me to the doctors. They put me in hospital. Eventually, I lost so much weight that I was skin and bone. The doctor said to my mother, ”Take him home because there's nothing more we can do for him. Take him home to die.” But my mother persisted, she never gave up, she prayed. She kept on putting those bottles of milk into my stomach and I kept bringing them up until one day, and she'll never forget it, she gave me a bottle of milk and it never came up and that was the beginning of the rest of my life. My mother, what a wonderful woman of God. I had the privilege of leading her to Jesus Christ. Women have incredible resilience, strength, and determination. You know the founder of the Salvation Army, William Booth said, ”My best soldiers are women.” Today ladies, we want to respect you, honour you, and tell you that we love you and that we could not live without you.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 8th of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the first book in the Bible, Genesis 37:8: “And his brothers said to him, “Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.” Then we go to the Gospel of Luke 2:19: “But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.”Be very careful how you speak. Joseph, with the coat of many colours - he had those dreams. He shared them with his brothers. The dreams were not wrong, they were quite correct, but the timing was so bad that his brothers actually hated him, the Bible says. Even his mother and father were also very upset when he shared these dreams with them. There is a time to speak and there is a time to be quiet. Mary, the mother of Jesus, did not tell everybody what the Archangel Gabriel had told her. She kept all these things in her heart and she pondered them. We really need to be wise. Some of us, and I am probably one of the worst, we speak too quickly. We need to wait and allow others to speak on our behalf, or wait for the action to take place and it speaks by itself. Don't keep telling everybody.I looked up the word, “discretion”. Now, I really want you to listen to this, especially the young people. It means to be careful and prudent in one's speech or actions, especially so as to avoid giving offence or attracting attention. We don't have to attract attention to ourselves. If God has done something great in our lives, let the action speak for itself. Don't go around blabbing about what the Lord is going to do in your life, or a word, because all it will do is cause contention, especially in the home. There is a time and a place for everything. Joseph messed up big time because he spoke too quickly and told too many people. Today, go to the closet, speak to the Lord, share your heart with Him, and He will tell you at the right time and the right place to share your vision with others.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 7th of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Isaiah 42:1: ”Behold! My Servant whom I uphold…” Then we go to the Gospel of Matthew 12:18. Again, our Heavenly Father says: “Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen, My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased!” Our Heavenly Father is talking about His only Son, Jesus Christ, and He refers to Him as His Servant. You and I are called to be servants. Our Saviour is a foot washer. He's a washer of people's dirty feet. The greatest thing He ever did was to die for us and that very night that He was betrayed, you can imagine what was waiting for Him, and He knew it, what did He do? He washed His disciples' feet first, before He went out to be crucified. Paul, in my humble opinion, probably the greatest of all the apostles, says, “Imitate me as I imitate Christ.”I want to tell you a little story. Early this morning, like I do every morning, I got up and made my wife, Jill, a cup of tea. As I was going through to my prayer room to start to prepare and seek the Lord for this very message that I am delivering to you today, I happened to walk past the kitchen, and last night we went to bed early and some dishes were in the sink that hadn't been washed. And I thought, “Well, Jill will get up just now and then she will wash them,” and I felt the Holy Spirit say to me, “What would Jesus do?” And I had to stand still. I said, “I am sure He would wash the dishes first.” So I turned around, washed the dishes, dried them, and put them in their rightful place. Then I came through to my prayer room, and I am now delivering to you the message which the Lord gave to me today.Today, wash the dishes, make that favourite meal for your husband. Ja, but you know I am also holding down a job, and it is much easier just to go in and get something ready-made from the shops. No, make something for him. It doesn't matter if you are not the best cook. It will mean so much to him. Mow the lawn for your mom and dad. No, but we have a contractor that does that. You do that. It will make such a difference. Let's be like Jesus today! Remember, charity, which is another word for love, charity begins at home. God bless you as you wash the dishes,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 6th of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start off in the Gospel of Luke 14:34-35. Jesus says: “Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its flavour, how shall it be seasoned? It is neither fit for the land nor for the dunghill, but men throw it out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” When salt has lost it's flavour it's not even any good for fertiliser but to be thrown out on the road and disregarded completely. Then we go to Revelation 3:16: “So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” Words of the Lord! Very, very hard words but serious words. We need to be salty. We cannot be indifferent. We cannot sit on the fence. It's a very uncomfortable place to sit, especially if it is a barbed-wire fence. We need to let our “yes” be yes, and we need to make sure and let our “no” be no. You know folks, I want to say something to you. People don't have to like you but they must respect you, and that is so important. We cannot hunt with the hounds one day and run with the hares another day. We have got to be definite. With my Scottish roots, our national food is porridge. Have you ever tried to eat a plate of porridge with no salt? It is tasteless. It is so bland, I won't even eat it. It needs to be salty. The Lord wants you and I today to become salty. We need to know the Bible and when people ask us an opinion, we need to be able to give it to them straight. Do many roads lead to Heaven? You must be able to say, “No, John 14:6 says Jesus is the way. There is no other way.” People might not like it but it is the truth and they will respect you for it. Today, let us become salty so that we can help those who are undecided, those who cannot make up their minds. Let us be those that are black and white, no grey area in our conversation.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 5th of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start off in the Book of Genesis 37:2:”…and Joseph brought a bad report of them to his father.” Then we go straight to Acts 10:34:”Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.” There are no favourites in God's kingdom and that's good news. If we look through the Bible, time and time again, favourites cause trouble. Rebecca, the mother of Esau and Jacob, her twins - if you read the story you'll see she favoured Jacob more than Esau and that caused a lot of pain, a lot of hurt and a lot of pressure. Don't put your children under that kind of pressure. I'm talking to parents today. That coat of many colours caused Joseph a lot of pain. It caused him to be sent away by his brothers. They sold him into slavery and he had a terrible life until the Lord redeemed him. Don't do it!That teacher's pet is not a child that gets special treatment, normally it ends up that that child gets ostracised by the rest of the students in the class. We need to treat our children equally. We need to love them equally. It doesn't matter if you have a particular soft spot for a child because that child is excelling in sport, the sport that you excelled in at school, or that child is very musical and you happen to be a good musician, so you show partiality to that child. Don't do that! We need to make sure that our children know that they are loved equally by mom and dad and that will give them peace and an opportunity to excel in their particular areas. Today, mom and dad, let us really have a good hard look at our children, at our family, and by the way some of those children are already grown up and have children of their own, and yet they still feel that mom and dad had favourites. Today, let us be as Jesus is. He sees no partiality in colour, in culture, in sex. He sees us all as His creation. He loves us all equally and He died for us all equally. Today, remember you are very special in the eyes of the Lord.Jesus bless you and have a lovely day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 4th of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start off in Psalm 19:14: “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heartBe acceptable in Your sight,O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.”We have got to be so careful what we say, folks. You know, the most powerful member of the human body, the tongue. The tongue can make or break a person very quickly. We go to the Book of James 3:10: “Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?” Of course not! There is a young man that I am mentoring. He sent me a beautiful message the other day and I really want to share this with you. He is speaking about the honey bee. Now, you know I am a bee-keeper. I love bees, I really do. They are incredible insects but the bee can be sweet and the bee can sting. Ask me about it! I know. That little bee can get in anywhere and he can sting you. I am talking particularly about the African bee, and the same thing applies with our tongue. What we say can make or break a person. Death and life are found in our very words. I want to encourage you today, even as the Lord is encouraging me, to be very careful how we talk. If you have got nothing good to say about someone, rather don't say anything but rather encourage one another. This world at the moment is in a terrible state. People are depressed, they are stressed out, they are fearful. A word in season, an encouraging word can make or break a person. I want to speak to my men. Men, build up your wives, tell them every single morning when you wake up… the first thing I tell Jill, I have been doing it for over 50 years, “Good morning Jill. I love you!” You know, those words are very powerful and she reciprocates. She says, “And I love you too, Angus”. Tell your children that you love them. When they come home with their school report. “Is that the best that you did?”, “Yes, that's the best I could do, dad.”“Well, that is good enough for me and it's good enough for your mother.”I want to tell you I don't know how many times people have written to me and told me, “We enjoyed that little message you brought this morning.” It makes my day! You say, “But Angus, you get that all the time.” No, I don't. Today, let us be the honey bee that makes the sweet honey, not the bee that stings.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 3rd of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of Luke 14:18 and 24:”But they all with one accord began to make excuses.” Then we go right down to verse 24. Jesus says: “For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.” This is a story that Jesus told about a man who prepared a wonderful banquet, invited his guests, then they all made excuses, they couldn't come. I believe the Lord is challenging us this morning and saying, ”Stop making excuses, no more excuses!” You see the servant went and invited all the people and the first one said, ”Look, I can't make it. I've just bought a new piece of ground and I must go and see it.” The next one said, ”Please excuse me because I've just bought five yokes of oxen and I have to test them. Can you please excuse me?” Another one said, ”I've just got married so I can't come.” What is your excuse today? What is my excuse today? We cannot come. “Lord we want to serve you but we've got too much on our plate.” We want to have a bit of fun first, we want to sow some wild oats and then we will make our decision and come to the banquet. The Lord says that it might be too late.I want to tell you a story that happened to Jill and I. Many years ago, we went to Israel. Now on our return home after our break there, I got the times mixed up. You see the plane was leaving at midnight. Now I didn't know whether it was the early hours of the morning or the late hours of the previous evening. Anyway, I got there, I was devastated. The lady said to us, ”Your plane has already left. It's on it's way to South Africa.” They had to put us in a hotel in Tel Aviv and we had to stay there for a number of days until we could get another booking.I want to tell you today, don't make anymore excuses. There is nothing more important than accepting the invitation to the banquet by the Lord. Maybe you've never done it, maybe you've always said, ”Ah, that's for other people, that's not for me.” I want to tell you as I'm getting older the time is running out. I don't know how many of my colleagues of my age group have gone home to be with the Lord or have gone somewhere else, but I want to tell you today, accept gladly the invitation because remember what the host said to his servant? ”Go out to the highways and the byways and invite all those who are blind and lame, and those who are sick, and those who are sleeping in the streets. Bring them to the banquet.” Do not be left behind! As an indication that you've accepted the invitation. Would you like to pray this prayer with me? Dear Lord Jesus,Please forgive me for making excuses. I do realise there is nothing more important than accepting this invitation which You have freely given to us. We don't deserve it but because you love us, You have invited us to Your table. Today, I accept Your invitation. In Jesus name, amen.God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 2nd of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 14:14. Jesus says: “And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just.” The Lord is telling us that if you give things to people who can repay you, well, you have your reward here on earth, but if you give things to people who cannot repay you, then there is the proof that you are doing it for the Lord, and you will be paid amply when you get to Heaven.George Müller, the founder of the children's homes in Bristol, England, I have been there - I have seen those buildings where he took care of literally thousands of children, and something like 60 million pounds went through his hands, and he never asked for a penny. Incredible faith! But when he died and he left very little. They checked on the accounts and when they were going through the finances, they saw that there was a donor that had been putting money into the children's fund for years and years, and they never knew who it was. But of course, when he died and his estate was wrapped up, they found out that George Müller, himself, was putting in an amount of money every single month towards the children's home. Now, that is doing something as unto the Lord. You and I need to start doing that a bit more. It hasn't happened to me often but it has happened to me a few times, that when I have gone out for a meal with my wife and we sat at the restaurant and had a good time together, there have been lots of people in the restaurant, we have ordered a lovely meal, and when we have finished, I say to the waitress, “Can you bring us the bill please?” And she says, “Oh no, sir. There is no bill.” And I say, “What do you mean?” She says, “There are people who have just left the restaurant who paid for your meal”. I don't know who they are, but God knows who they are. I have never seen them before because I did not recognise anybody in that restaurant. I want to say to you today, do something that there is no reward for on this earth and the Lord will reward you amply in Heaven. Do something for people who cannot repay you.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 1st of August, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Psalms 18:32: ”It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect.” Then we go to a very well-known scripture, 2 Corinthians 12:10: ”Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” I want to say to you today, if you are feeling weak, maybe you are feeling I just can't go on anymore, lock into God. It's a good place to be. Sometimes it's a dangerous place when you think you've got it all together, you've got it all tied up. That's when the fall normally comes, but I tell you what, when you are on your knees and you are weak, you can't fall any further. I don't know how many times I've had to speak at a big open-air meeting, where there are multitudes of people. I go up the steps onto that platform, and I'm being honest with you, I feel absolutely weak and powerless, and that's when I cry out to God. ”Lord, please, please, help me.” And you know something? Every single time, He helps me and He'll do it for you too.It doesn't matter what you're going through at the moment. Remember, when you are weak, then He is strong. That's why Paul can say, ”I rejoice in my tribulation. Tribulation worketh patience, patience character and character hope.” (Romans 5:3-4)I want to say to you that humble people are normally people who have been through fiery trials. I get fearful sometimes with some young people who are out there, and they can do it all and they name it and they claim it. It's almost like they're getting ready for a fall. So folks, I want you to understand one thing. The Lord is our strength, and He is the One Who will see you and me through if we put our total trust in Him.May God bless you, especially when you're feeling weak, because that is when you will be strong,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 31st of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the first book in the Bible, the Book of Genesis 32:32: ”…He touched the socket of Jacob's hip in the muscle that shrank.” The Lord touched the hip of Jacob and displaced his hip and for the rest of his life, he limped with a displaced hip. Then we go straight to 2 Corinthians 12:8-9, Paul says: “Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”I want to speak to you today about pain. Are you in pain today? Have you just lost a loved one, someone very close to you? Have you just had an injury and the doctor says you will never play sport again? Have you had a situation where you are physically weak and the one you love the most has left you because he or she said they can't live with you? Well, I want to tell you something now. The Lord says to you today and to me, “My grace, my undeserved loving kindness is enough for you.”Folks, I know about healing. I pray for the sick. I have seen blind eyes open, I have seen deaf ears unstopped, I have seen people get out of wheelchairs and walk. I have seen it with my eyes. You have seen the movie, “Faith Like Potatoes”, where we prayed for a dead woman and God raised her up, but I want to speak to you today about pain.My best example is a hero of mine. A Scottish preacher by the name of George Matheson. At the age of twenty years old, he started going blind and his fiancée left him. She said, ”I can't live with a blind man for the rest of my life.” I want to tell you about that man. That man was tipped to be one of the greatest preachers in Scotland, but because he went blind, he was put on the side, but you know what he did? When he was sitting in the lounge, when his young sister was about to get married. They were doing all the preparations. She was his eyes, you see. She had dedicated her life to helping him, and now she had found her lover, and she was getting married and she was about to leave him. He was forty years old, he was all by himself. He sat in the corner and he wrote a hymn, probably one of the greatest hymns ever written, “Oh love that will not let me go, I hide myself in thee.”You know, it's only when an orange gets squeezed that you can taste the beautiful nectar. Today, maybe you're going through a rough time. The Lord says to you, ”My Grace is sufficient for you.” Trust in Him and He will do the rest for you because He is more than you or I will ever need!Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 30th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 14:3: “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?” That is what the Pharisees were asking Jesus. Jesus answered in verse 5. He says: “Which of you, having a donkey or an ox that has fallen into a pit, will not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day?” We are talking this morning about priorities. What is important in your life? Going to church on the Sabbath? Absolutely! You can ask any member of my family and they will tell you, if it is at all possible, that is where I will be on Sunday morning, but what Jesus is saying, “What about the ox or the donkey who has fallen into a hole on a Sunday?" Do you leave it there until after the church service then pull it out and probably find that it is dead? No, you have to stop. You have to take your jacket off, you have to roll up your sleeves, you have to get covered in mud, and pull that animal out to save its life, then go to church. Then, of course, the Pharisees in the church criticise you because they will say, “Look how dirty that person is coming into the house of the Lord.”I want to say something to you, my dear friend. Many times it has happened to me. As we are driving out of the gate of the farm, what do we see? All the cows are on the district road. Now that is a huge danger for traffic. What do we do? We stop. We have to push all the cattle back into the paddock, close the gate and go to church. When we get to church, we are late, and the Pharisees are saying, ”Look at these people! They don't even respect the house of God.” We need to be very careful that we don't point fingers until we know the full story. I am an evangelist, you know that - my busiest day is on a Sunday, that's right, when everybody is in church. So when do I go to church? I go to church every single day of the week. Every morning, I am a 4 o'clock man, you know that. That's when I spend time in the presence of God, just like my Saviour did, but when the ox is in the hole, pull him out first. It might be somebody who just absolutely needs you. You say “But I can't be late for church.” What is more important? To help who is destitute and stranded on the road, or to make sure that you get to church and you are all nice and tidy and clean? Let's get our priorities in order.God bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 29th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go the Gospel of Luke 13:34. Jesus says:”How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!”So sad. If you ever have the privilege of going to Israel and you sit on the side of the Mount of Olives, you look straight across the Kidron valley, and you see the Temple Mount on the other side. Now Jesus sat there and He wept over Jerusalem. He said like a mother hen protects her brood of chicks, He wants to do the same for you and me today. Please let Him! There is a little chapel that is built there in the shape of a teardrop. Isn't that beautiful? I've sat in that little chapel and there are pictures of little chickens and chicks inside the chapel to remind us of this statement that the Lord made. Many years ago, a pastor told me a story about something he saw on the slopes of the mighty Drakensberg Mountains in KwaZulu-Natal. They had been burning firebreaks, and those fires on the side of the mountain are vicious, and they run at a tremendous speed, and often people are overcome by the smoke and the fumes and even get burnt to death. They were walking over the ashes of a firebreak that they had made because it was winter time and there they found a little partridge, a Franklin, and this partridge was lying on the ground. It had been burnt. The fire had gone over it but it's wings were stretched out and one of the men took that little partridge and turned it over and underneath that mother hen were four or five little partridge chicks. She had protected them with her very life.Today, Jesus wants to do the same for you. He is weeping because He sees what you are doing to yourself and what you are doing to others. Repent today, say “Sorry Lord,” and turn from your wicked ways and start to follow Him with all of your heart.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 28th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the first book of the Bible, Genesis 32:6:”Then the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, “We came to your brother Esau, and he also is coming to meet you…” Remember, Jacob and Esau fell out because Jacob robbed Esau of his inheritance. There was a tremendous amount of hatred involved. In fact Esau swore that he was going to kill his brother, Jacob. Then we go straight to 1 John 4:20. The Lord says:”If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?” A very stern word for you and me today from the Lord. The Lord basically says, 'Settle your differences.' Do not carry that grudge. Sort it out! We have to, for God's sake, and I'm not swearing either, I mean it. How can we expect the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive us when we can't forgive our brother? When you do forgive then all of a sudden there's a peace that comes over your heart isn't there? You can sleep better at night, can't you? You know the word “restitution”? I looked it up in the Oxford dictionary, it means to restore, to pay for injury or loss that has been suffered. We need to deal with our differences. If you're a runner, you will understand what I'm going to say. When you are running a race, maybe 20, 30, 40 kilometres and there is a stone, a small stone, in your running shoe. Stop, take that shoe off, get rid of that little stone and then carry on running. If you don't, you won't finish the race. That little stone will cause a huge blister and you'll end up not being able to complete your race. I'm talking about small things.I remember, a man came to see me. He had come to one of the early Mighty Men Conferences and what he had done was, he wanted to take a memento back to his home. So he went into our maize field and picked a nice big mealie cob. It was dry by then, and he took it home as a reminder. You know that he was convicted by the Holy Spirit, and about twenty years later, he came to see me and he brought this old, old mealie and he said, ”I want to bring this back.” I laughed, but you know something? He was quite at peace after that.We had a young man that we were looking after here. We used to look after young men from overseas, and he had came from another country. He stole my Leatherman. I didn't even know it, I thought I'd lost it, and ten years later, he came back to see me on the farm and he brought that knife back. He said, ”I stole your knife. I am so sorry.”Today, settle your differences, and you'll be surprised how the Lord Jesus will bless you. God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 27th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Matthew 7:13-14. Jesus says:“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”This Christian walk of ours is not easy. The Lord never promised us a rose garden but He did promise us that He would lead us if we will follow Him. When you go through that narrow gate, it is character-building stuff. We have to keep at it, no compromise, no bending the rules, no cheating because the way is narrow and it is steep and very difficult, but at the end of that road it is most rewarding. As a younger man, I used to love climbing to the mountain tops of the mighty Drakensberg Mountains, which lie about an hour and a half west of Shalom Farm. When you get out of the pick-up or out of the truck, everybody is excited. Put your rucksacks on, get your walking stick with you and off you go! The road is wide, it is smooth and there are many people that are walking on that road. But the amazing thing is, as you start to get higher, the oxygen is less, it's much steeper, the weather is all over the place, it can get windy, it can rain - you can get four seasons in one day, and the road gets much narrower. No more road, just a path. Eventually, the path gives up, there is no more path, and the only way you can get to the top, and it is quite perilous, is by following little cairns of stones that people have put in the way to show you the way to the top. That is how it is in life. When we get serious with God, He gets serious with us, but oh my dear friend, it is so worthwhile because eventually, when you get to the top, sometimes on your hands and knees, and you turn around and look out, you see the whole of KwaZulu-Natal. On a clear day, you can see to the ocean. It is mighty! There are only certain birds up there, such as the Lämmegeier, the bearded vulture, which has a wing span of about two metres, very few eagles, and definitely no house birds. However, it is invigorating. Now, keep on the road. Keep going through the narrow gate. Don't worry about the easy way that many people walk in, but that one does not lead to eternal life. Jesus bless you today as you keep your eyes fixed on the top of the mountain.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 26th of July, 2025, and this is your friend Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 15:16, and this is Jesus Himself speaking. He says: “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”I want to talk to you about fruit today. The Lord says we must bear fruit. Yes, we are talking about the fruit of the Spirit. When we bought the farm, one of the first things I did was plant a little orchard of fruit trees. I remember I put in 500 trees. I remember marking them out, getting the holes dug. I had all kinds of fruit but there was one fruit tree in that orchard that I always used to go to. It was one of the smallest trees, it had really struggled to make it through but it had come through strong. It never produced the quantity of fruit that some of the other trees produced, but one thing it did do, it produced quality. I would go to that plum tree and I would take one of those plums off the tree and when I bit into it, the flesh was blood red and it was the sweetest plum that I have ever tasted, and every year it gave me those beautiful plums, not many of them, but very tasty. You know, it's not about how much we produce. It is the quality of the fruit that we produce. We had a young lady in our congregation here on the farm. Her name is Sarah and she is with Jesus today. She was always very sickly, she had many operations, but I want to tell you, Sarah had the most beautiful smile that I think I have ever seen, and right up till the time that the Lord took her home, she never complained. She was always quick to greet everyone. She used to come over to me, I used to wait for it, and she would give me a big hug and ask how I was. She never complained about herself. She was one of God's choicest fruits. Don't be concerned today about how much fruit you are producing, rather work on the quality of the fruit that you are producing. We have a lady in our congregation who makes rusks. Now, if you don't come from South Africa, you don't know what a rusk is! It is a very hard biscuit that you dunk in your tea or coffee, early in the morning. It is a must for every farmer, and this lady makes the nicest rusks I have ever eaten in my life, and when Amanda brings me a packet of rusks, I tell you what - my face just lights up. Remember, produce fruit! Don't be so concerned about the quantity, make sure the quality is top-class.God bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 25th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the book of Proverbs 20:7:“The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him.”Integrity means honesty. I want to speak to you today about dads. It's not Father's Day, but I just feel I need to share this with you. We really need to appreciate our dads. My dad was a blue collar worker. He was a trader, a blacksmith, but he was also a very honest man. My dad never owed anybody anything. We didn't have a lot at home, but everything we had, we owned. I remember when my dad was just about to meet the Lord, we had him in a very special place. I used to visit him every single day at a home in Greytown where he had special care. Every time I went in to see him, every single day, he would always ask me one question, “Angus, is there enough money in my account.” You see, I was looking after his finances in the last months of his life, and I always said, “Dad, there is plenty there.” He was an honest man. He was a man that I respected. He taught me a lot of things that I also try to pass on to my children and grandchildren, but I want to tell you something now, honesty is a great thing and I want to tell you something now, our children will be blessed by us if we set the standard. One day, my dad was getting ready to go to work and I was moaning and saying to mom, “Mom, I don't have a watch to wear, I don't have a wrist watch. All the other boys in my class have got watches. I don't have one.” My old dad took the watch off his wrist (this makes me emotional) and he gave it to me. He said, “Son, take this one”, and he gave it to me and went to work without a watch. I remember very clearly, my foreman on the farm, Simeon Bhengu, telling me after my dad had gone to be with the Lord. He said, “Every time my dad left the farm to go up and spend some time with my brother in Johannesburg, he would call the induna in. Now, my dad was a pensioner, he wasn't running the farm, he was staying on the farm, and he would say to Bhengu, ”Bhengu, Ngifuna ukunakekela umfana wami” (I want you to look after my boy). Now this boy was already forty years old and my dad was in his seventies. We thank God for dads. Today, tell your dad that you love him, that is all he wants to hear, nothing else.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 24th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to that well-known scripture in the Book of Philippians 4:6 (Amplified Version) “Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.” The Lord wants to tell you and me this morning that He wants us to climb our mountain. What does that mean? Fulfil our vision, run the race, attempt great things for God and expect great things from God. That is what William Carey said. You know, I want to tell you a story about one of the greatest evangelists of our modern age - yes, I am talking about DL Moody. Dwight Lymon Moody was in the UK. He had been preaching, something like 2 million decisions for Christ, he was extremely tired, and they persuaded him to go and see a heart specialist in Harley Street, the Main Street in London, where all the medical fraternity were. The heart specialist said to him, “If you don't slow down, if you don't ease up, you are going to die.” After he had been told that and got on the ship to go back to America, the ship got into trouble and the ship was in a storm and it nearly sank. That day Dwight Lymon Moody realised that his future was in God's hands, that he could have drowned, the ship could have sunk. It didn't sink as it turned out, another ship came along and rescued it but it made him realise that every day he has belongs to God, and he decided there was no way he was pulling back. He would keep going until such time that the Lord saw fit to take him home. You and I cannot extend our lives one minute, never mind one day, without God's permission. Remember God is in Heaven and we are not, so why, my dear friend, this morning, are you anxious, why are you fearful? You know, if you look at the word of God in John 14:1, Jesus Himself said: “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.” The Lord is in full control of your life. Before you were conceived in your mother's womb the Lord had already allotted the number of days that you were going to live on this earth, not one day longer, not one day shorter, so let's do it.I remember a story of a man who went to see a doctor, I think it was in Australia. They said “You have three months to live, your heart is packing up. Go and just sit quietly at home”. So he thought, “I have got nothing to lose.” So he got on a ship and he came to South Africa, and he climbed some of the most treacherous mountains in the Drakensberg, and you know what happened? That man lived until he was in his eighties. I want to say to you today, climb your mountain!Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 23rd of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Matthew 18:22: Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.” Remember, Peter says, ”How many times must I forgive my brother, seven times?” Jesus said, ”No, not seven times, seventy times seven.”What is the Lord saying to you and me this morning? He is saying to us that forgiveness is a lifestyle. It's not a one-off thing. We have to continue to forgive one another. You say, “But I cannot forgive that person for what they did to me”. I understand that because people have done some terrible things to me as well, but for the sake of the Gospel, we have to forgive. How can you expect Christ to forgive you and me for what we've done if we cannot forgive the person that's done something against us. You know, the person whom you have something against doesn't feel anything. He doesn't even know you have any unforgiveness towards him. So who is suffering? Only you and me, because we will not forgive and actually it can make you sick, physically, mentally and most of all spiritually. We have to forgive. What did Jesus say on the cross when He was crucified, ”Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34Now that's forgiveness.I remember many, many years ago we had a healing meeting. We were praying for the sick and this one dear soul came up and I could see she was very troubled. I said to her, ”What can I pray for?” And she said, ”Angus, I get terrible migraine headaches. Please could you pray that these headaches would leave me.” I looked at her and I felt the Holy Spirit prompt me and I said, ”Do you have unforgiveness in your heart towards someone?” She got quite indignant, quite upset. She said, "I didn't come here to speak about my personal affairs. I came here because I am sick.” I said, ”Well, if you can forgive that person, God will heal you of those migraines.” And with that she burst into tears and she was able to forgive that person, and maybe it had been for many, many years. Well, the next time I saw that lady she was radiant. I said, “And how are you keeping?” She said, ”I have never had another migraine headache since we had that prayer time.” Today, forgive first of all for God's sake because He told us to, and also for our own sakes.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 22nd of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to 1 John 5:7: “For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.” Then we go forward to the Gospel of John 1:1-3: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” Wow! Who is the Word? Yes, you got it right. The Word is Jesus. We as believers believe in the Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. It doesn't say there are three that bear witness in Heaven, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. No, it says, the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit. Now we can understand how important it is to know our Bibles. I've always said if somebody says to you, ”Show me this Jesus you're always talking about.” Give them a Bible. When I travel to disadvantaged countries, where there's very little finance, people are very poor, we take food, we take clothes and we take Bibles and I want to tell you, they're not interested in the food, even though they may be hungry. They're not interested in the clothes, even though they may be clothed in rags. What they want is the Bible. I have seen grown men fighting for a Bible. I really mean that, fisticuffs, because the Bible is Jesus Christ in print. When I get letters sent to our office with very difficult questions, I have to go to the Word, and sometimes the people don't like the answers but I have to tell them, “This is what the Bible says.” When I have to settle differences, I've seen fathers and sons come to me who are having a dispute on the farm for example. I can't take the one side of the one party because I like them, no. What does the Word say? And then we go by the word and then there's nothing to argue about. That's why you put your hand on the Bible in court and you pray that you will tell the truth and nothing but the truth, so help you God. The Bible is my direction finder. You know the thought for the day that you are listening to right now, I'm in my sixth year. I have not missed one single day, all the glory to God, and people say, ”How do you do it?” I do it through the Bible, the Word of God. Today Jesus bless you as you cherish and love the Word, who is the soon coming Saviour of the world, our Lord Jesus Christ.God bless you and goodbye
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 21st of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Luke 12:37. This is Jesus speaking: “Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching.” I want to speak about appointments. You know what they say? You snooze, you lose! It's funny but it's actually not that funny, is it? There is no excuse for being late for an appointment. You see, it tells the person that they are not really that important to you. It can ruin a relationship forever. Young man, when you are dating a young girl and you are trying to make an impression, if you get there late, I am telling you now, you are in big trouble. If you are late for your wedding day, it's not a joke. You can ruin the rest of your relationship. What about if you are late for the birth of your baby? That's almost unforgivable. “Yes, but I had something else on” - no, priorities! If you are late for your finals, you are writing your final exams and you are late, it can ruin your career. Now, you say, how can we alleviate this potential tragedy in our lives? One word, discipline! Discipline! Get up in the morning. “Aah but, I work late.” It doesn't matter. Get up in the morning, have a good quiet time with Jesus every single day, not now and again, every single day.Priorities, very important! Who is first in your life? Jesus Christ, second - your family, third - your work or even your ministry, and then always be ready, be packed and be ready for the doorbell to ring. I can't wait for that doorbell to ring, I am telling you now. Settle your accounts, owe nobody anything, and then when He calls, He will say, “I have arrived”, and you and I will say by the grace of God, “Here I am, Lord. I am packed, I am ready to go.” Jesus is not coming soon, He is on His way, I tell you! Have a wonderful day, but really sharpen up, get your act together, because He says He is coming like a thief in the night, and you won't even hear about it.God bless you and be ready for the great day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 20th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of Luke 12:34. Jesus says: ”For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Isn't that so true? You know, I remember a story about a Scottish miller. He was milling corn. He had his mill by a river with the old paddle wheel that did the grinding, turned the grindstone and that was his whole life. Now he got sick, very sick, and his family was worried about him, so they called for the minister to come and pray with him before he died because he wasn't a Christian and what he had done was, he had his bed put next to the grindstone, the mill, so that he could hear the corn grinding out. The minister came up to him and he spoke to him and he said to him, ”Do you realise that you are dying? I want to speak to you about eternal life, about your soul.” And the old Scotsman said, ”I cannot hear you. I cannot hear what you're saying,” because of the noise of the mill, that was grinding out the corn, and eventually he died. His heart and his treasure was with his mill. How many of us are in that situation today? We are so concerned about our vision, our personal ambition, that we are forgetting about eternal life. Jesus said that we must concentrate on the things of heaven. He said, ”because where your treasure is, that's where your heart is also.” (Matthew 6:21). We must put our personal ambitions, things which are so close to us, we must put them in heaven where no thief or no moth will destroy. I heard a story, I don't know how true it is, some years ago. They did an interview with some of the top athletes in the world. These were world record holders and they were asked, ”If you could be given a pill to take that would give you the strength to break the world record but would shorten your life to a mere four years, would you do it?” and most of them said they would. How tragic is that? That is because their treasure, their everything, was based on becoming the world champion. Let's not do that today. Remember this life is but a vapour. Let us start investing our treasure where rust and moth and the thief cannot destroy. Let us start investing in heavenly things.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 19th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the first book of the Bible, Genesis 26:27-28:”And Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me, since you hate me and have sent me away from you?” Then the reply from King Abimelech: ”But they said, “We have certainly seen that the Lord is with you.” Then we go to the New Testament, to the Book of Romans 8:31: “If God is for us, who can be against us?”You see, what happened was, King Abimelech had chased Isaac, Abraham's son, away, and he left, but where God sent him, he prospered. He prospered in everything he did and he succeeded and Abimelech saw that. So he came with the commander of his army and one of his friends and said, ”Listen, we want to make a truce with you. We want to make a covenant with you because we see that your God prospers you.” How many times have you seen that in life? You know, I remember as a wild young man, we would go out to a party, group of us young guys in a motorcar and there would be one of the chaps in the car that was not a drinker. He was a Christian. When we'd go to the party and all get a little bit under the weather, what did we do? We gave the keys of the motorcar to that one chap because we knew that he would take us home safely because he was a follower of Christ.I want to say to the young man listening to this program today. Do not compromise your stand for anybody. You say, ”But it's making me very unpopular.” Yes, it actually made Isaac very unpopular as well. That's why he was chased away, but later Abimelech, who chased him away, saw how God was prospering him and came to Isaac to make peace.A young shepherd boy, maybe 13 years old, took on a mighty giant, a seasoned warrior of the Philistines, and actually took him apart, piece by piece. “Do you think I'm a dog?” Goliath said, ”that you come against me with stones and sticks?” And what was the reply? David said, ”I come against you in the name of the God of the people of Israel. The God of all gods.” He used his slingshot with one stone and killed that giant. I want to say to you today, do not compromise your stand for anyone. Stand tall for the Lord because the Lord will defend you, not only defend you, but He will prosper you in everything you do, and I want to tell you, it's a great honour when people say, ”Are you one of those?” You can say, ”Yes I am. I'm a follower of Jesus Christ.”God bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 18th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the book of Genesis 25:31: “But Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright as of this day.” Then we go to the New Testament, Mark 8:36: “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” Today we really need to take an account of our lifestyle. Esau had been out hunting and had obviously caught nothing the whole day. So he came in and was extremely hungry. He said to his brother Jacob, “Give me something to eat...”, a plate of lentil soup, that's all it was, “and I will give you my birthright. Don't ever do that. Today, maybe I am speaking to a young girl and she has fallen pregnant and she is not married and she thinks that she will get an abortion. Please do not do that. That is murder. Don't do it! We are talking today about the “spur of the moment”. I have been to maximum security prisons and I have stood next to men who are weeping, dignified men who have made a decision to steal money from their company. It is called fraud. They have been caught and they really intended to pay it back and they are now serving a stiff sentence. Don't do it!There is a man maybe listening to this programme who is having an affair. That woman is not your wife. She belongs to somebody else. Don't do it - you will regret it! I want to say to you today that once he had eaten the plate of lentil soup and his stomach was full, then Esau realised what he had done. Yes, we are not going to talk about Jacob, we are talking about Esau today. It is so easy to fall into that trap of the devil because, yes, God can forgive you and He will if you truly repent, but remember, the consequences last forever.Today, we need to be determined and intentional that we are not going to allow the flesh to overtake the spirit. Most of these decisions that are made, are made in the flesh. It's a “spur of the moment” thing. Oh no, we'll get over it. No, she won't get over it and he won't get over it because it is wrong. We need to start asking ourselves a question today as we close - what would Jesus do? And then do exactly that, nothing more, nothing less. Then you will keep your inheritance and you will not lose your promise of eternal life. So today, say sorry to the Lord, put it right and move on with godly principles in mind.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 17th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 18:36. Jesus answering Pontius Pilate said: “…My kingdom is not from here.” Then we go to the Gospel of Luke 12:15: “Take heed”, Jesus says, ”and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”To covet something is to want something that is not yours, and something that you probably don't need but you just want it. My dear friends, I have seen it so many times. We don't need half of the stuff that we have in our homes, do we? I am talking to myself as well. You know, there are things that we love, there are things that we really want but we don't need them, and that is a big danger.Do you remember the story of the man that worked so hard all his life. He scraped, he scrimped, he lived “on the smell of an oil rag” as they say. He worked so hard but it came at the expense of his family, it came at the expense of relationships, he became unpopular. He wasn't very well loved. He saved it up and bought gold, and he bought lots of gold. In fact, he had a suitcase full of gold bars. And then he died and he went to Heaven, and he took that suitcase with him and when he got to Heaven, the Lord asked Him, “What have you got in that suitcase?” He said, “I have got my possessions, the things that I have coveted all my life and I have brought them with me.” The Lord took him outside. He said, “Do you see the streets here in Heaven are paved with gold? It is worthless.”Oh my friend today, please start to focus on eternal things. I am talking about relationships with your loved ones. Work on those things. Don't work on things that rust and moth will destroy, things which have no eternal benefit. That's what Jesus said to Pilate. He said, “This is not My kingdom. My kingdom is in Heaven.”Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 16th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Luke 12:8-9: “Also I say to you, whoever confesses Me before men, him the Son of Man also will confess before the angels of God.” Verse 9, now this is a very serious one: “But he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God.” Then Romans 1:16 says, Paul says: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” There is no room in the Kingdom of God for secret agent Christians! You either have to put your hand up and stand up for the Lord or you must deny Him because you will not speak up for Him, and I think that is one of the most important things for us to do in these last days. People are desperate to hear the truth. And you say, “If I am vocal in the workplace about Jesus, I might get fired.” Yes, you might but you might not. You might win others to Christ. It takes courage to stand up in public for the Lord. I am always so deeply touched when I see international sport, like football or rugby, and I see some of the players, not all of them, they run onto the field and they kneel, in the presence of crowds of fifty thousand people, and they are praying, and they are making a statement that they are not ashamed of the Gospel.I can hear somebody saying, “Ja, but you don't have to go and blurt it out.” Folks, let's get real. Let's get back to the scripture verse where the Lord says, “If you are ashamed of me before men, I will be ashamed of you before my Heavenly Father.” As a Christian, we have got to be prepared to stand up in all situations. I am thinking of young people particularly today. You know, when you get older, it's easier to be outspoken for Christ because people know who you are and what you stand for, but when you are a young girl or a young man at university and people are having a big party and you say, “Sorry I don't do that.” “Are you one of those Christians?” And you say, “Yes, actually, I am, and that is why I don't do it”. That takes a lot of courage. But the good news is that God honours that statement that you make. God will bless you because you stand up for His Son, and that is exactly what He is expecting from both of us, so today, I don't know who I am speaking to, but there is an opportunity today to make a difference and tell people that you are a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ because He is your Lord and Saviour.Today, stand up for the Lord because He also will stand up for you!Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 15th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the first book of the Bible, Genesis 22:14: “And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.” In my footnotes I have got the definition of “the Lord will provide” in Hebrew. It is “Yahweh”. Yahweh - another name for the Lord. The Lord will provide!I want to tell you a little story. I was up in Central Africa some time ago. I was in a very isolated area and we had two blow-outs over a period of about a week. We didn't have any spare wheels in the vehicle, and the Lord provided. You see, I want to say to you that when Abraham was going to offer up Isaac as a living sacrifice, he was about to cut his son's throat with a knife, when the Angel of the Lord said, ”No, don't do that. Have a look in the thicket, there is a ram caught by it's horns”. The Lord provided a way out. The Lord provided a ram to compensate for the death of Isaac, his son, and the Lord was so overwhelmed by the faith and the obedience of Abraham that He said to him more than twice that He will make a covenant with him, and He will be his God and they will be His people, which stands to this very day.Getting back to my story - they contacted the head quarters in the capital city, and they said, “There are no tyres of that size anywhere in the country”, but the Lord provided. A man in South Africa sourced those tyres. He put them on a truck and sent them to Central Africa. They were put on a bus and brought right into the interior of Central Africa and dropped off in a small little village. Then we met up with those two brand spanking new tyres and men that work on the side of the road repairing tyres, took the two punctured tyres off and put on two brand-new tyres. The Lord provides, and by the way, we got home safely, in Jesus' name.I want to say to you today, how many times is the Lord providing for you and you do not even acknowledge it or realise it? Open your spiritual eyes and remember the Lord always provides for His children. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 14th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the 1 Thessalonians 5:17. The Lord says to you and I, “pray without ceasing.” In other words, pray in every situation you find yourself in, and the confirmation of that one is found in the Book of James 5:16:”The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” Effective, fervent - that's praying with sincerity, urgency, commitment and faith, avails much. Oswald Chambers was a Scottish preacher who wrote a book, (well his wife actually did it after he died. He died at 43 years old and his wife, Biddy Chambers took down all the messages that he ever preached and then she made books out of them). This particular book must be one of the most famous devotionals of all time, and in that book, he says, “Prayer is not a preparation for work, it is work.” Isn't that profound? So we don't pray as a preparation. No, we pray because it's part of what Christians do. He says prayer is not a preparation for the battle, it is the battle! He says prayer is two-fold - definite asking and definite waiting to receive.I want to say to you today, we need to pray continually and we need to believe in what we are praying. It does take some work. It takes time everyday for you to sit aside. Get on your knees, whatever position you find comfortable, and talk to God. “Oh but I can't.” You can! Some of us are just too lazy to do it.I want to tell you something. When I listen to a preacher, I can hear what his prayer life is like. I can pick it up in two minutes, and then I can hear others, like James Hudson Taylor. They said when he prayed, everybody came to a standstill because he was talking directly to his God who he knew so very well. Today, start praying effectively. Start praying without ceasing and remember, it's work and there is a reward for that work, which comes directly from the throne of Heaven.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful prayer day, Goodbye
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 13th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. If we go to the Gospel of John 14:5-6: “Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him (to Thomas), “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”I'm talking to somebody today who is lost. It is a terrible feeling, is it not, when you are lost? I remember driving up to Johannesburg, just as the sun was setting, and seeing all the motorcars, tens of thousands of them, trying to get home from work. There were lights flashing on both sides of the road and I was trying to find my way, and I just could not get the right address. One feels totally helpless. That's how Thomas felt. He said, ”Lord,…” After the Lord said He's going ahead to prepare a home for him in heaven and then He's coming back to fetch him, ”…but Lord, we don't know the way.” And then Jesus said, ”I am the way.”I want to say to you today that you need to sit down, you need to call upon the name of the Lord, you need to relax, and He will show you the way. Some of us, and I was one of them, were trying everything we could, and it's chaos. Just pull over to the side of the road, sit quietly, pray, ask the Lord to show you the way and He will show you the way. He's done it for me, many, many times - not only you, but your loved ones, your family, your workmates. Jesus Christ is the truth and the way and the life, and in this hectic life that you and I are living in at the moment, the only way that we are going to reach our destination is by listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit, and He will say, ”This is the way. Walk ye in it.”Have a wonderful day, Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 12th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Ecclesiastes 3:11:”He has made everything beautiful in its time.” Then we go straight to Romans 8:28:”And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.“ The Lord makes all things new.A while ago, I was in Central Africa, in that magnificent, beautiful, tropical rain forest, and I was going for a ride down a path on my mountain bike, and I looked at the trees and I noticed something very strange. Just about all of these trees had a little bend in them at about waist height - big trees, small trees, just a little kink in them and I was wondering what it was. Then I realised what had happened was that many years ago, the local people, in order to make money, cut these magnificent trees down and made them into charcoal. Then they sell the charcoal and plant their maize and their ground nuts and their cassava in beds where the trees were, but because Jesus makes all things new, those trees sprouted and started growing again, and this particular area that I was cycling through was completely recovered. I was just thinking, “Lord, You are so special! You make all things new.”Now, I don't know where you are at the moment, in your life. Maybe you've done something that you really regret. Maybe you feel that there's no hope for you. Maybe you've also been put on the ash heap as it were, but I want to tell you that Jesus Christ can restore and make new, whatever has been damaged in your life. All you have to do is to call out to Him and say, ”Lord, please help me. I've made some terrible mistakes. I've destroyed a lot of things, maybe my family, maybe my business, my reputation, and I feel that I am worthless.” The Lord says repent. Say sorry and start again, but this time do it God's way and He will make you into a brand new person.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 11th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Matthew 12:30: “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.” Then we go to the Gospel of Luke 11:23, and Jesus says exactly the same thing. He says: “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.” We cannot serve two masters. Either we are for the Lord or we are against the Lord. There is no middle ground. The Lord says in the Book of Revelation, “If you are lukewarm, a compromiser, I will spew you out of My mouth.” Strong words, and like never before in the world, we have got to be definite and intentional when it comes to our faith. I am thinking of children at school, particularly, under tremendous pressure to compromise and say, “Yes, all roads lead to Heaven.” According to our Bible they do not. Jesus says, “I am the way,…” John 14:6. We need to stand tall for the Lord like never before. So, by doing nothing, the Lord says we are actually against Him. When somebody asks you, “Are you a follower of Christ?”, you have to say “yes” or “no”. You can't say, “Well, you know, I believe in all gods.” We don't actually, and that is why we get persecuted so much. I think again of those incredible men, those migrant workers who were working in Libya when they were caught by ISIS, marched to the edge of the Mediterranean Sea and given an opportunity to deny Christ. If they had relented they would have lived, but they didn't, and one by one they were killed. But what really touched me was that one of them was a migrant worker from Ghana, from Africa, and they said, “Who are you serving?” And this is all on video, folks. He said, “I am with them.'Understand very clearly, if you want power and peace and joy in your heart, you need to stand for Christ. You need to be definite, and that will give you the peace, the ability and the power, to walk this road with Jesus. Have a blessed day as you stand tall for the King of Kings, the soon-coming Saviour of the world.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 10th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the first book of the Bible. Genesis 21:6:“God has made me laugh,…” This is Sarah speaking, ”…and all who hear will laugh with me.” Then we go to a very well-known scripture in Nehemiah 8:10: ”Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”How are you feeling this morning? Are you sad, are you disappointed, are you fearful? I want to tell you that Sarah went through all those things and even more. Then, eventually, the Lord gave her a son, and Abraham named him Isaac. Abraham was 100 years old and Sarah was in her late 90's and she laughed and they all laughed with her. I want to say to you today, “Laugh at your problems because the devil is a liar, a thief and a bully, and he will pull you down as much as he can and he will tell you, 'It can't happen, you have lost it, it is too late.” Its a lie, laugh at him in his face, and I want to tell you something now. That will give you strength. The joy of the Lord is our strength. I think of that movie, The Sound of Music. I am talking to young people. If you haven't watched that movie, you need to watch it. It is a good story, its a true story about a girl named Maria. Maria just loved singing, she was always on the mountain tops, she was appreciating God's creation, but Maria was also late. She was late for the church services. She always had to ask for forgiveness from the Mother Superior, and Maria makes me laugh. Despite of all her shortfalls, in spite of all her mistakes, when she ran into a place, everybody started laughing. I want to say to you today, laugh at your problem, because you know something? God has got a solution for you and He has got an answer, and if you do not lose heart and if you keep your faith in Him, He will bring it to pass, just like he gave that old lady, Sarah, a beautiful baby.Jesus bless you and have a happy day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 9th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of Luke 11:2-4: “So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven,Hallowed be Your name.Your kingdom come.Your will be doneOn earth as it is in heaven.Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins,For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.And do not lead us into temptation,But deliver us from the evil one.”We are talking this morning about the Lord's Prayer because I can hear somebody saying, ”I don't know how to pray.” Well, that's exactly what the disciples said to Jesus, “Lord, teach us how to pray like John taught his disciples.” And the Lord says, ”and this is how you shall pray.” It's not about the eloquence. It's about the heart.I remember when Jill and I first got saved, yes, not far off fifty years now! We were counselled in a counselling room after we'd made our commitment and they said, ”Come back next Wednesday night and we're going to start. We're going to have a Bible study.” We all sat in a circle. I'll never forget it. I was so nervous. The leader, I don't even know who the man was, I can't remember, said, ”We are going to start off by praying. How many of you know how to pray?” And of course, we went very quiet, all of us. There were about twelve of us there and he said, ”I'm going to start on this side and just pray. Now praying is speaking to Jesus, so speak to Jesus.”Well, I want to tell you, I was very nervous and I prayed a prayer, a simple prayer, but there was one man sitting in the circle, his name was John. You could see had been through fire of life and his prayer was, ”Oh God, please help me!” That's all he prayed. I've never forgotten that prayer, from the heart, desperate, calling out to his newly found Saviour, Jesus Christ.Today, just speak to the Lord. That's what prayer is. Tell Him your troubles, tell Him about your successes, tell Him about your ambitions, your visions, your future, and I want to tell you, it becomes a wonderful relationship. As I finish this message, I'm going to get on my bicycle and I'm going to go for a ride and I'm going to speak to Jesus, thank Him for His beautiful creation, the bush around us, the wild birds, the animals. That is what prayer is about and I know, when I come back from my ride, I will be like a new man. Do it today - in fact do it every day!Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 8th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 10:37: And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.” Jesus told the story of the Good Samaritan. Remember how he took care of the man that was stranded? He put him up in a hotel, paid for him, made sure that all his wounds were healed, gave him his own donkey to get to the hotel, and then told the inn keeper, ”And by the way, if you are short, on my way back from Jerusalem I'll square you up.” That's literally the story in a nutshell. Now, my dear wife, Jill, and I have been in Central Africa and I want to tell you, I am so excited to know that there are many Good Samaritans in this world. Not everyone is out to do you down. We were driving in a very isolated area on a Sunday afternoon, heading towards our destination, which we didn't even know existed, and a car came up alongside us and waved us down. There were young men in that car - well dressed, in a very fancy car. They said, ”Stop! You have got a blowout in your camping vehicle.” I couldn't believe my eyes. I stopped and they stopped as well. I said, ”Could you please help me?” They said, ”No problem.” They took off their fancy clothes. They got underneath the camper, they jacked it up. They took off the wheel which was blown completely. They took the other wheel off the back of the camper and they carefully bolted it onto the vehicle and they made sure that everything was put back correctly, the jack, the spanners - and they did it just because they wanted to help us. We were able to give them a beautiful Bible, just as a token of our appreciation. That is an act that I believe Jesus Christ wants to see you and I doing, not turning and looking the other way. We went on and a few days later, yes, we had another problem with the camper. We went into a little garage and there the man was busy stripping an engine. I said, ”I've got a problem, sir. Can you please help us? We are from South Africa.” No problem. He took us into his little coffee shop, made us at home, told the man to make us a meal, got underneath the camper and in no time he had replaced that broken part and wished us well. We were so grateful and thankful.Folks, today, let's be Good Samaritans. Let's not always want payment for what we do. Let us do good as unto the Lord and Jesus Christ will reward us just like He did the Good Samaritan. Jesus bless you richly today, have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 7th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Exodus 6:7. The Lord says: “I will take you as My people, and I will be your God. Then you shall know that I am the Lord your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.” Then we go to that very well-known scripture that I love so much found in Romans 10:13. The Lord says: For “whoever (that means you sir, that means you madam)…whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”We serve such a merciful God, such a forgiving God, it makes me weep sometimes. I read very recently the account where Abraham said to the Lord, “Lord, if there were 50 righteous men in Sodom and Gomorrah, would You save the city?” The Lord said He would and he said, “What if there were 30? What if there were 20? What about if there were 10 righteous men in that city, would You save the city for the sake of those 10?” And He said He would. I don't know who I am talking to this morning but I feel I am talking to someone who is very burdened and heavy-laden who feels not worthy to call upon the Lord because you have disappointed God, you have broken some commandment, you know it, you did it willingly and now you've realised what you have done. I want to say to you, own up, say sorry, truly repent, and God will forgive you. I don't care who you are, and then there might be some Pharisees, some self-righteous, “No, no, you can't do that.” Yes, you can. The Lord said, in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world…” Who is the world? It's you, it's me, it's the one who dropped the ball, it's the one who told that lie, it's the one who has taken something that doesn't belong to you. Take it back, say sorry, repent and get on with your life. The Lord says that He would save a whole city for the sake of 10 righteous men. There is not one person listening to this programme today who is righteous in their own strength, no, not one, but it is by grace. What is grace? Undeserved, loving kindness, unmerited favour, that is what grace means. We don't deserve it but because He loves us and He says, “I am your God and I will help you, and I will take you out of your predicament.” But we must do it God's way and then He will be free to set us alive, to give us new hope and a new beginning.Jesus bless you richly! Remember, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Just say sorry, ask God to help you, and He will see you through. Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 6th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Genesis 18:19: ”For I have known him,…” This is what the Lord is saying about Abraham, ”…in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord,…” We have an obligation, moms and dads. I'm talking to single parents, as well, to direct our children in the ways of the Lord. Then we go to John 15:16, and the Lord says:”You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” Wow, what a beautiful promise! You see, God chose Abraham, Abraham didn't choose God. God saw Abraham as an obedient man and He trusted him, and said he in turn must bring up his children and his household in the things of God. You and I have to do exactly the same. We must bring our children up in the ways of the Lord, the Bible says, and when they grow old, they will not depart from them. Now Dad, Mom, there comes a time in each family where the son or the daughter has come of age, then we need to understand that we have done as much as we can to bring them up in the ways of the Lord, then they have to go ahead on their own and do the job.I remember a sad story of one farmer, in fact two farmers, not related. The one farmer had to wait until he was 60 years old before his father released the reigns to him to continue with the farm. The father was 90 years old. Now the sad part of that story is, by the time a man gets to 60, if he hasn't realised his vision, the stuffing has been knocked out of him, excuse the pun. He has no desire to do anything because he has no vision, because when he was young and he was ready for it, his dad would not hand it over to him. I remember watching the life story of Henry Ford, and in the movie, his son went and built a beautiful motor car, a two-toned coloured motor car. He put a tarpaulin over it and then came and asked his dad to come with him. He wanted to show him what he had made. He pulled the tarpaulin off and this magnificent car was in the workshop. His dad was jealous, you see, he took a hammer that was standing by, a fourteen-pound hammer and bashed that car into pieces, but what he didn't realise was that not only did he break the car into pieces, he broke his son's heart into pieces as well.Today, give your son, your daughter, an opportunity to show you what they can do. You've done the groundwork, let them take it to the next level.God bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 5th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of Luke 10:20:”Nevertheless…” (Jesus says), ”… do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” Folks, this is a beautiful scripture. You know, when you stand before the Lord one day, the greatest thing you want to hear from God is, ”Well done, good and faithful servant, come and enter into thy rest.” The one thing you don't want to hear is, ”Who are you? Depart from Me, I never knew you.” The disciples had returned. They said to Jesus, ”Even the evil spirits, we cast them out and they go.” Jesus says, ”That's wonderful,” He said, ”But rather rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Isn't it a beautiful thing? You walk into someone's house, or into a business, and the person says, ”Hello John, hello Jack!” It makes you feel so good because he remembered you, and he remembered your name. Names are very important to me because I know they mean a lot to people. When you say, ”Hello brother, hello sister,” then you know they've forgotten your name, but when we stand before the Lord one day and He says, ”Welcome home!”- that is going to be the most incredible message to hear out of the mouth of God. He knows me! I want to ask you today, do you know Him personally as your Lord and Saviour? You might say: ”Look, I know about Him, Angus. My family are Christians, my grandfather was a great preacher.” No, but I'm saying, do you know Him? “Well, I hope so.” No, that's not good enough. So how can we be sure that God will recognise us when we get to Heaven? Well, the Bible says in Romans 10:9: ”that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Now what I want to do is pray with you and maybe you say, ”I've prayed that prayer before.” Well, maybe you want to do it again today because I tell you what, I pray that prayer constantly. Pray this prayer after me.Dear Lord Jesus, Today I want to be sure that when I die and I go to Heaven that You will recognise me and call me by my name, that You will say, ”Welcome home!” And I ask today Lord, that You confirm that, as I would confess You as my Lord and my Saviour, my only God, and the One who died for my sins on the Cross of Calvary. I ask these things in Jesus' name.AmenGod bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 4th of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the first book of the Bible, Genesis 18:14: ”Is anything too hard for the Lord? “ That is a question that God asked Sarah when He told Abraham and Sarah they were going to have a baby, and Sarah was well past childbearing. She even giggled. She said, ”Is it possible for an old woman like me to conceive and to bear a child?”I want to say something to a lady listening to this programme today. There is nothing which is too hard for God. What we need to do is ask Him. We need to thank Him in faith, and then we need to trust Him for our miracle. He is the miracle-working God. That I know for sure. There are so many miracles that have happened in my life that I cannot even remember all of them. The one thing that restricts the moving of the Spirit of God is unbelief. That's the only time you tie God's hands and He can't work, if you don't believe. So, I'm going to pray for you at the end of this programme, that God will give you an extra portion of faith to believe for that baby in your life, young lady. I want to agree with you that God will give you the desires of your heart as you delight in Him. You'll find that in Psalm 37:4.I'm talking to that young man who is starting his business, and he just cannot see any way through; that young farmer who is facing a horrific drought or a problem with his crops; I'm talking about that young student who is getting ready to write his finals, and he doesn't think he can do it. You can - only believe! Now, how do we get that kind of faith? Well, the Bible tells us in Romans 10:17: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” I am speaking to you today and I am quoting the word of God. Now believe it. Don't doubt! Believe it and you will receive the thing which you are trusting God for. Father, I pray for my dear friends listening to this programme early this morning, that You will indeed honour the promise that You have given to them if they will only believe.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 3rd of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (Amplified Version): “…but just as it is written [in Scripture], “Things which the eye has not seen and the ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, who obey Him, and who gratefully recognise the benefits that He has bestowed].”For God has unveiled them and revealed them to us through the [Holy] Spirit;…” Oh folks. We need to open our eyes. We need to get out of that little matchbox mentality and we need to realise Who it is that you and I are serving! I have just had the privilege of seeing one of the wonders of the world. Yes, I'm talking about the Victoria Falls, where millions of tons of water are going over the edge of a depression in the ground. You see, in order to have a waterfall, you've got to have a mountain so the waterfall can caress down the mountain, but this is not the case with the Victoria Falls. If you've never been here, it is flat. There are no mountains here at all, so what has happened? Well, from a distance, you see a cloud in the sky. You think it's a cloud but it's not a cloud, it's just the mist from this incredible waterfall cascading into the depths of a literal cavity in the ground. Now, as a little boy coming from Central Africa, I've seen it many times, but you see the Lord talks about the Spirit of God that opens our spiritual eyes to see it in a different context. Oh folks. How can you believe that this happened by coincidence? No, this is the handwork of a mighty God!Now, what is it in your life today that you feel is too big for your God to handle? There is nothing too hard for God. That's what the Lord said to Sarah when she was close to a hundred years old and He said, ”You're going to have a baby.” I mean, it's impossible, but for God nothing is impossible. I want to tell you, I stood on the edge of that Victoria Falls. I got absolutely soaked by rain, but the rain wasn't coming from the clouds. There were no clouds. It was coming from the mist that this incredible waterfall was making. Today, open your spiritual eyes and see what God has in store for you, and it will lift you. It will build your faith and you'll start to believe for the impossible.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 2nd of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 15:13: “And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living.” That's a sad story, and unfortunately, it's very common, isn't it? This young man was the younger son of a farmer who had two sons. The older son remained at home and continued working hard. The younger son wasn't satisfied. He was rebellious. Yes, he refused to submit. He said to his father, “I want my inheritance now.” Maybe his father had to go to the bank and get an overdraft in order to pay out his younger son. Nevertheless, he did it, and the younger son went off. However, the next part of the story is very sad because he lost everything he had because he would not listen to his father. I saw something not so long ago when I was in Central Africa. I was in a beautiful little village. We went to a camping site and I went for a long walk in the morning. I took my staff and was walking along the road when I saw something I had never seen before. I saw a donkey tied up to a horse, around the neck, and the horse had a bell hanging from his neck. So wherever the horse went the bell was ringing and I wandered, being a farmer myself and a horse man, I wandered what was going on, but I could see the donkey was not very happy at all, but the horse was continuing to graze and the two of them were pulling each other along. Then I saw some stockmen and said to them, “What is happening here? Why are you doing this?” They said, “Well, this horse is a very stubborn and difficult animal.” The people in the rural areas had no fences to keep their animals in, so the horse would be off, running away, so they tied the horse to that donkey and the donkey lived in that village and he wasn't going to run away. And I said, “How long do you do that for?” They said, “Up to three months” and then eventually they release the horse from the donkey and that horse doesn't run away. I want to say to you today, you can either submit to the Lord gladly and willingly and learn, or you can be rebellious like that horse, and the Lord will allow things to happen to you, and you ask, “God, why are You doing this?” No, God is not doing it. You are bringing it on yourself because you will not submit to the principles that the Lord has put in the Bible for us. Today, just submit and you will find that your life will be much more pleasant and successful.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 1st of July, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today! We go straight to the Book of Genesis 2:19: ”Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air,…” God formed each and every one. In Southern Africa, we are now going into winter. The swallow has gone to the Northern Hemisphere. He has gone to his summer residence. He doesn't just go to the country, he goes to the county, he goes to the street, he goes to the very house and he goes back to the nest under some eve, in some barn, where he has built his little clay nest, and then when the winter starts in the northern hemisphere, he flies all the way, 6000 miles down, back down to his summer residence in Southern Africa. That is not coincidence, that is God in all His majesty! My wife and I are currently taking a break in Central Africa and are going to witness a migration of Wildebeest and Zebras, thousands of them, as they move down to the salt pans and the area where the grass will soon start growing. The local people have told us that the water is coming, but I said, “There is no rain in the sky”. They said, “No, it is raining in the western part of Africa, and the water will flow all the way, right the way down to the rivers, and into the wild salt pans and the grazing lands in this country.” And the zebras know that already. They are on their way, thousands of them and they will be here in a month's time, I was told. Again, I am amazed at God's miracle-working power. He created it all! I want to say to you today, don't let anybody tell you about coincidences. There is no such thing - these animals have been doing this migration for tens of thousands of years since the time that the Lord created the world. Today, just have a good look. Open your spiritual eyes and God will show you many things that He has created that we cannot even see anymore because we have no spiritual understanding. Let's take the word of God. He is the One who created every beast of the field and every bird of the air!God bless you and have a wonderful day. Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 30th of June, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Luke 9:20: “He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Then we go to John 6:69: ”Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”The disciples had no doubt whatsoever about who Jesus Christ was. They knew that He wasn't just a good man, they knew that He wasn't just a prophet. They knew that He was Emanuel, God with us. Who do you say He is today? And that is critical for your Christian walk. You cannot serve two masters, either you serve God, or you serve the devil. Matthew 12:30, Jesus said: “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.”When it comes to the holiness and the deity of God, there can be no excuse. Either Jesus Christ is the Son of God or He is not, and if He is not, you cannot call yourself a Christian. We are believers, not even by what we read but what we believe. You see, there was no-one else who has ever raised a man from the dead - Lazarus, after he had been dead for four days in the grave. In the Middle East the body has already started to decompose. There is no man in history who has ever walked on top of the water and right across the Lake of Galilee, 21 km long and 13 km wide. He walked on top of the water. I want to tell you today, for me, Jesus Christ is the Miracle-Worker, but more than all of that, personally, He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Every hardship, trial, tribulation that I have been, and am still going through, I can manage only because of the grace of God who says, “I will never leave you and I will never forsake you. Today, be decisive because I want to tell you, He is the only one who can really help you, and He is more than willing.Jesus bless you and and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
