I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 27th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Mark 2:3: ”Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men.” Remember what happened? They brought a paralysed man to Jesus. There were so many people in the house, they couldn't get into the house. There were so many people outside, they couldn't get near to the Lord. They took the paralysed man; they loved him so much. These four men carried him onto the roof of the house, started taking the tiles away, let him down from the roof with ropes, on his bed, and put him right in front of the Saviour. That's commitment, isn't it, hey? But think of the scripture. If that man had not been paralysed, he probably would never have had an opportunity of meeting Jesus Christ, face to face.Paul says in the Book of Romans 5:3-4:”And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.” That's why we can say we rejoice in our tribulation. Maybe today you are going through a tough time, and you think Lord, why is this happening to me? Why am I not being healed instantly? Why has this got to be my lot in life?I want to tell a story. There was a very famous hymn writer. Her name was Fanny Crosby. Fanny Crosby was blind. She became a hymn writer. She wrote over 8,000 hymns, and you know that over 100 million copies of her hymns were printed. Most of the famous hymns that we sing today were written by her. They asked her, when she was very old, would she not have preferred to have been born with normal eyes like everybody else? And she said, “No,” because if she had, she probably would never have had the ability, the time, or the imagination to write such beautiful hymns for Jesus. And then what she said, which touched me very deeply, she said, ”When I get to heaven and my eyesight is completely restored, the first face that I will see will be the face of my beloved Jesus.”Today folks, let us finish strong for the Lord.God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 26th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of John 12:3:”Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard (thats perfume) anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.” We're talking about Mary, who was the sister of Lazarus and Martha.Today is Boxing Day. Some people call it the Day of Goodwill. It is that day of being grateful for the birth of our beloved Saviour and friend, the Lord Jesus Christ. It's the day that we go the extra mile for Jesus. Mary took a very precious investment that she had. According to my Bible, the equivalent in value of a pound of this expensive perfume equals a full year's wages for a worker. Think about how much money you bring home every month, times it by twelve and that is how much it was worth. She poured the whole container over Jesus feet and then she wiped His feet with her hair. That is love. Undiluted love, holding back nothing! Now, I can hear somebody saying, ”But I would love to do that for Jesus as well but He's not here now.” Well, if we go to Matthew 25:40, Jesus said: “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” So yes, we can do it. We can find someone that we love dearly, we can find someone who has nothing, someone who is lonely, and we can give them something which is very precious to us, and that is the equivalent of doing it for the Lord.So this day let us go out and let us find somebody who is very lonely, somebody who is very poor in spirit, not necessarily financially, and give them something which will touch their hearts deeply, and Jesus will be very happy with us. Today is the Day of Goodwill, let us share the goodwill of Christ wherever we go!God bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 25th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, wishing you a very, very happy Christmas. Yes, we made it again - what a wonderful day, a very blessed Christmas! I want to thank you on behalf of our whole team whom I never mention. I'm talking about my producer, Gary, I'm talking about my editor, Candice, I'm talking about my beloved wife Gill and all our family at Shalom, and the Shalom fellowship. I want to wish you a very blessed Christmas Day!It's a time of mixed emotions, isn't it? Some of our loved ones have already gone home to be with Jesus and they won't be sharing Christmas Day with you, but I want to tell you something, by the Grace of God, they are waiting for you in Heaven and that's something to look forward to. So there is only one scripture verse today which in my humble opinion is appropriate for Christmas Day, which sums up the whole Bible, which consists of no less than 66 books, and I'm going to read it to you out of the Amplified Version. Yes, I am talking about John 3:16. “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son…” Dads, how would you like to give your only son to die for the sins of others, even while they are still sinners? It's hard enough to give your son up for fellow believers, but to give him up for other sinners. That's what our Heavenly Father did. I cannot even comprehend the pain that must have taken place when they said farewell to each other and Jesus came down from Heaven to Earth in the form of a little baby. We carry on:”… so that whoever (now whoever means whoever) believes and trusts in Him (in God) [as Savior] shall not perish (shall not die) but have eternal life.” That's what Christmas Day is all about! We are remembering the tremendous price that was paid for you and me so that we could have eternal life.Today, let us do that to one another: ”Greater love has no one than this,” the Bible says ”than to lay down one's life for his friends.” John 15:13, and that's exactly what took place 2000 years ago in a little town called Bethlehem. Jesus bless you today as you have a peaceful and a happy Christmas. Merry Christmas! God bless you and goodbye
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 24th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. Yes indeed, it is Christmas Eve, a very special birthday. It's the birthday of the greatest human being that has ever lived, but I've got a very interesting thought for today for you. God put it on my heart early this morning. Psalm 19:14:”Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” Now, those of you who know me well know that I will not start preaching until I have prayed that prayer and preferably on my knees. “Why?” You say because it is a wonderful but great responsibility to bring God's word to people. This tongue of ours over this Christmas period must be harnessed correctly and that's not a joke. I belong to a very big family myself and I want to tell you there are people that are coming from very far. You've got members of your family coming from overseas, they have been waiting for this time. Be careful what you say. If you go to the Book of James 3:6, this is what it says: ”And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.” Wow!How many world wars have started because of something that has been said? How many families are in divorce because of words spoken that you wish you'd never said them? How many disasters have taken place, bad business deals, broken relationships because of a word said in anger? Don't do it. Today, count to ten before you say it and then you probably won't say it. You can't bring words back once they are out. They are like that pillow full of feathers. You take it out into the wind, you open up that pillow, the feathers go all over the place. You will never put those feathers back in that pillowcase. We need to speak Jesus. He is all that counts and if you speak Jesus today, you cannot make a mistake. Let's be gentle, let's be loving with each other. Let us not be part of an unruly fire that can destroy a relationship. Today, let us be as gentle and as kind as we can to each other.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful Christmas Eve, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 23rd of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start off in the Book of Isaiah 9:6:“For unto us a Child is born,Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be calledWonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”Then we go straight to the Gospel of Matthew 1:21:“And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”Yes, we are talking about the Prince of Peace, we are talking about the Darling of Heaven. As we approach Christmas Day, the Lord has laid this beautiful song on my heart that I want to read to you. It was written by Mark Lowry, a Gospel singer from America. I am sure you have heard it but I want you to listen very carefully to the words that he has written, because they always bring me to tears every time. This is how it starts:Mary, did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water?Mary, did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new? This child that you've delivered will soon deliver youMary, did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?Mary, did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with His hand?Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod? When you kissed your little baby you've kissed the face of GodThe blind will see, the deaf will hear and the dead will live againThe lame will leap, the dumb will speak the praises of the LambMary, did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?Mary, did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?Did you know that your baby boy is Heaven's perfect Lamb? This sleeping child you're holding is the great 'I Am'Maybe you have listened to this and your heart is touched, and you say, “But Angus, I am really struggling sometimes to believe that that baby is God made flesh, Immanuel.” Well, I want to pray for you.Father,I pray for my dear friend. Maybe she is lonely, maybe he is missing his wife, maybe they are in hospital and they are struggling to believe. Please increase their faith today and let them know about the Babe who was born in Bethlehem, who is soon coming again to take us to be with Him, in glory forever, Amen.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 22nd of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Isaiah 44:24:“Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer,And He who formed you from the womb:“I am the Lord, who makes all things,Who stretches out the heavens all alone,Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself;…”Then we go to the Gospel of John 1:1: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” I am so excited to share this with you this morning. Very, very early, as the sun was coming up, I took my mountain bike out for a ride, and as I went up the road to the end of the farm, I looked into a paddock, and there was a flock of huge storks, beautiful, majestic storks. Now the wind was blowing so hard, I thought it was going to blow me off my bicycle and I was struggling to stay on the road. Oh but my friends, I got quite emotional because these storks decided to take off and hovered above me and my bicycle, and the wind was blowing and they just hung there like they were standing still with their wings fully expanded, and then all of a sudden they would take a dive and enjoy the wind thermals, go right up into the air, come down again and then literally park all around me. And again, I thought, “Oh Lord, what a Creator!”We have an airstrip very close to us and there is a Big C company. They own quite a few aeroplanes, they even have a Lear Jet in their hangar, but with all due respect, not one of them look anything like these storks when they take to the wind and they start to soar - unbelievable! Then I carried on down the road. I rode about another 2 to 3 kilometres, I went around a sharp corner and there is a big forest, and just in front of the forest is a fence and I saw a family of vervet monkeys, all sitting on the wire fence, and all their little white faces, were facing the sun. They were catching the first heat waves of the day and again I said, “Lord, what a Creator You are.” Then I carried on a bit further, and I saw a flock of swallows, and they were catching the insects, flying back and forth, but not flapping their wings, using the wind thermals. And I thought, “Lord, You sent those swallows all the way, 6000 miles from the Northern Hemisphere, to come to our beloved South Africa and catch the summer! Jesus bless you today and open your eyes and you will see the Creator in action!God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 21st of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 1:11: “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.” Then we go to the Book of Isaiah 53:3: “He is despised and rejected by men,…”Are you feeling unpopular at this time of the year? It is the festive season, it's the time that people say, “Let's let our hair down and let's have a party!” Now, there is nothing wrong with having a party. I am talking about the office party, the end-of-year party, and let's go for it. And you say, “No, I don't sleep around. No, I am not a drunkard. No, I am not part of those filthy pornographic jokes.” And all of a sudden, you are not so popular, are you? And somebody said, I don't know if it was DL Moody or one of the great evangelists, he said, “If everybody has got something good to say about you, be sure Jesus has got nothing good to say about you!” It's funny, but it's not funny, is it?I am thinking particularly of the younger people today. When you become a senior man or a woman, people know who you are, whether you like it or not, you have been branded, but when you are a young person, you want to be in with the crowd, but you don't want to drop the ball, then you start getting tempted by the devil and he uses people. Matthew 12:30 says, “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.” Basically, you can't serve two masters. Either you are serving the Lord Jesus Christ or you are serving the world. You don't have to try and become unpopular. All you have to do is stand up with a Bible and what it stands for, and you will automatically become extremely unpopular and criticised for lots of things that you have never even said. Tell me about it!Oh, but my dear friend, it is worth it all because that great day when the Lord comes again, it's not too far away, it will be wonderful when He can identify you from the crowd, when He says, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Come, come and enter into your rest.”Have a wonderful Christmas time without compromising your faith.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 20th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of John 11:35: ”Jesus wept.” Jesus cried. Compassion is what the world needs. Do you know, He was about to raise Lazarus from the dead? He knew that. So why was He weeping? Because He had compassion on the people when He saw how they were mourning because of the death of His friend, Lazarus. This world needs compassion. Compassion is another word for understanding, it's another word for being concerned, for kindness, for being sensitive.William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army, sent his soldiers out all over the world to tell people about the love of Christ. He sent some to far-off countries. He got a letter back from one group of these salvationists. They said, “We have tried everything here. We have tried preaching the Gospel from Genesis to Revelation, but we are hitting a brick wall. We are not getting through. What must we do?” He wrote a letter back and there were two words on that letter, “Try tears.” Not so long ago, I had the privilege of being the speaker at a campaign in one of the most dangerous places on the Continent of Africa. I'm talking about the Cape Flats in Cape Town, where there are gang wars and the men are killing each other, up to twenty men getting shot dead in a weekend. Some people told me not to go there, “You'll get killed.” I said, ”No, Jesus has opened a way for us and we are going.” I will never forget the love that I experienced in that place, the love, the desperation, the tears. I haven't seen tears like that at an event for a long time. I walked off the platform and I walked up to the barrier just to hug these men. They were kissing me on the neck. They were telling me they loved me and as we were trying to get out of the stadium, we had people around us to try and make a way for us. There was one young man who would not take no for an answer and he was so desperate to speak to me that one of the organisers said, ”This young man wants to speak to you.” So we stopped. I said, ”Bring him,” and I said. ”What can I do for you son?” He looked at me, tears running down his face. He said, ”I just want a hug from you, Uncle Angus.” That was all. I took him in my arms and I hugged him and I loved him and he loved me and the love of Christ, I believe, was all he needed and that is what he received. Today, go and love somebody and be quick to cry and don't be too quick to point fingers.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 19th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Psalms 105:2: ”Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;Talk of all His wondrous works!” Then we go straight to 1 Thessalonians 5:18: ”In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God…” I read a beautiful little reading this morning by the famous hymn writer, Francis Ridley Havergal, and this is what she says. She says, ”We talk about the telescope of faith but I think we want even more the microscope of watchful and grateful love.” She says, ”Apply this to the little bits of our daily lives, in the light of the Spirit and how wonderfully they will come out.” Yes, we want to look through the telescope of faith and see all the big things in life, but she says maybe we need to get that microscope out and thank God for all the little things He has done for us.You say, ”What little things?” Well, maybe you passed your exams. “Yes, but I didn't get a hundred percent, Angus!” No, but you passed your exams and surely that's worth praising God for, and that farmer, ”No, I didn't really get a bumper crop this year.” But maybe you are able to pay your costs and that's worth thanking God for. Counting your blessings and naming them one by one, and then all of a sudden, things won't look so hopeless, will they?Do you remember that little song, it's a hymn, that goes something like this;Count your blessings, name them one by oneCount your blessings, see what God has doneCount your blessings, name them one by oneCount your many blessings, see what God has doneIsn't that wonderful? Today, count those blessings! Thank the Lord that you woke up this morning and you can see a brand new day, and who knows? This may be the day that the Lord will come and take us home to be with Him in paradise forever, but until then, count your blessings!Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 18th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 11:25-26:”Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live and whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” There's a question for you and me this morning. Do we believe that if we are in Christ Jesus, we will never die?I remember a beautiful story written, I think it was by the great evangelist, Dwight Lyman Moody. He went on an expedition to Great Britain and in about two or three years, led something like two million people to Christ. He was a former shoe salesman, not very educated, not very well spoken, but he knew Jesus Christ. Now the scripture I've just read to you was Jesus reassuring Martha, the sister of Mary and their brother Lazarus, when he had been delivered out of the tomb where he had been dead for four days. Jesus said, ”I am the resurrection and if you believe in Me you will never die.”Well, DL Moody said, ”One day you will read in the newspapers that D L Moody has died. Do not believe a word of it.” He said, ”I will not have died. I will simply have changed my address.” Isn't that beautiful? Maybe today you are mourning the loss of a loved one that has died. If they know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, they are not dead. They have just gone ahead of you to Heaven and they will be waiting there for you to come. Their prayer for you today would be, “Please, do not mourn. Do not cry over me. Make sure that you are a Christian, and then I will see you in Heaven.”One of the most beautiful little scripture verses I really love, especially at a time when we are mourning the loss of a loved one and maybe we are a little bit confused, is found in Psalm 116:15. It says:”Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” If your loved one knows Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, just like D L Moody, they have not died, they have simply changed their address. They are waiting for you in Heaven, and they are saying to you today, ”Please believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and you will be with me also in Heaven.” Have a wonderful day,God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 17th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Psalms 27:4, and David said: “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.” Then we go to the New Testament, to the Gospel of Luke 10:41-42: And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”We need to slow down. We need to listen to the Word of God. Jesus said to Martha, “Your sister Mary is sitting at my feet and listening to what I am saying and you are running to and fro, all over the place and wearing yourself out. I want to say to you today, as we are approaching Christmas time, and things are getting busier, I am speaking not only to young mothers but to young men as well, this is not a time to run to and fro. This is a time to settle down and be with your loved ones. You say, “No, I can't afford to.” You cannot afford not to, sir!Do you remember the story, I don't know whether it is true or not, but it is a good story that took place in England when the famous sea captain, Sir Francis Drake, was playing a game of bowls. He must have been on the white cliffs of Dover somewhere, and he could look out and see, and some of his men ran to him and said to him, “The Spanish Armada, hundreds of sea-going warships, are approaching Britain to declare war!” And Sir Francis Drake calmly said he would finish his game of bowls and then have time to beat the Spanish Armada.I want to say to you today, take time to be with your loved ones. Remember, Mary, according to Jesus, chose a better way. She sat at the feet of the Lord, and David, the apple of the Lord's eye, said he wanted to sit at the feet of God. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 16th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Luke 20:38: “For He is not the God of the dead but of the living, …” Then we go to John 11:23: “Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” I want to speak to you today about the God of the living. Lazarus had been dead for four days in the tomb. In the Middle East, they have to bury the dead the same day because the body starts to break down with the heat, but Jesus told His best friend's sister, ”Your brother will rise again.” Martha did not understand what He meant. She thought He was talking about the resurrection. No, Lazarus was about to be resurrected out of the tomb. As a farmer, I can see my living God every day of my life. When I see a crop coming out of the ground - you plant the seed and then one morning, early, you wake up and there it is coming up beautifully with life, living. A newly born calf, a newly born lamb - new life! Jesus is the God of the living! He is not the God of the dead. So I want to say to you today that He is the One who will forgive you, as He has forgiven me. He will heal you, as He has healed me. He will restore you as He has restored me. He is the God of the second chance. How many people have been cast aside by the world, as failures? They call out to Jesus, the God of the living, and He literally resurrects them. The Bible is full of those people, right from Adam, right through to the New Testament. Today, He wants to remind you. He is not dead, He is not in the tomb. He is alive and He is the God of the living and He wants to restore you and renew you completely. Let Him do it!Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 15th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. If we go to the Gospel of Matthew 8:3: “Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.” Jesus healed the leper! Jesus was always found with the sick, the poor, and the rejected of society. As I read this account this morning, my mind went back to my dear wife, Jill's, mother and father, who came out from England after the Second World War to Nigeria and then to Northern Zambia, and what they did was nurse the lepers. They ran leprosy colonies. How many people know about that? Not many, but I want to tell you one thing, the lepers know about it and so does Jesus.Today, maybe you are thinking, “What is it that I have done which is of any worth?” Oh my dear friend, that cup of water, that piece of bread, that visit, that smile - they all count. An old lady came to Shalom Ministries, but before she came, she stood up in front of her family, on her 70th birthday and said, “I am going full-time for Jesus!” Then she came, and she said, “I am coming to join you, Angus”, and she came to stay with us until Jesus took her home. Jimmy and Moira arrived in their little car on the farm one day. I will never forget it. I was clearing some land, and they informed me that they had been sent by God to come and help us on this farm. What a lovely couple! They stayed with us until Jesus took them home.Today, just give the Lord what you have got. The Lord built this ministry on this farm, not by the famous, not by the rich, not by the influential. No, but by the whosoever's, the widows, the people who are old, the people that maybe no one knows their name, but I want to tell you, I know their names, and more importantly, Jesus knows their names. Today, I want to encourage you again to use what you have for the Lord and do it with all of your heart, and that is all that He requires of you, and He will do the rest. Have a wonderful Christmas Season and Jesus bless you,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus precious name. It is Sunday morning, the 14th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of Mark 8:36:”For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? “ Where are we putting all our effort? What are we doing in this life? What are we trying to build up? What legacy are we leaving for our families? I looked up the dictionary to find out the literal meaning of the word “legacy.” It means “an amount of money or property left to someone in a will.” Casting Crowns is a very, very popular Christian band, and they have made many hit songs. They are one of my favourite groups and there is one song that they sing, it is called, “Only Jesus - take everything else I have just leave me Jesus.” There's a little video goes with that song and I watched it and the lead singer, Mark Hall, is driving an old pick-up to the rubbish dump, to the pit, and he stops in the middle of the pit and of course his whole band is playing in the background. He opens the back of the jeep and brings out a box full of trophies that have been won in sporting and different disciplines in life, and he throws them into the rubbish bin. “Take the world but give me Jesus!” I want to say to you today that we need to have a good look at what our priorities are in life.I met a gentleman a while back, a very good friend of mine, he's a very senior gentleman at the moment, and we were sitting talking. I was just encouraging him on the great job that he has done with his family, with his children. They are all serving the Lord - but he got a bit tearful and he said to me, ”But I haven't left anything for them in terms of a legacy. I haven't left them any money, any possessions because I don't have any.” And I said to him, ”You have left them the best thing you could have ever left them. You have left them Jesus Christ. They know Him as their Lord and Saviour, and they are serving Him.”There are many others who leave vast fortunes to their children but their children have never met the Man from Galilee. Today, let's throw all this worldly stuff aside and let us concentrate on leaving a legacy for our families that will last forever.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 13th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 11:17:”So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days.” We are talking here about Jesus' friend, Lazarus. He had already been buried for four days. In the Middle East, in the early days, when somebody died, they had to bury him the very same day, because of the heat in the Middle East, the body starts to decay. Lazarus had already been buried for four days. Remember Mary and Martha? ”Oh Lord, if only you had been here on time you could have healed him.” Of course we know what happened. Yes, Jesus prayed and Lazarus came out of the tomb. I have been to Israel, I have been to the place where the tomb is, and I've actually climbed down into that very tomb where Lazarus lay and the Lord called him out and he was instantly resurrected. Folks, death has lost it's sting. I'm talking to somebody today who's afraid to die, if you know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour, you have nothing to fear. If we look at 1 Corinthians 15:55, the Bible says: “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” There is no victory for the devil. I want to say to you that if you are walking with the Lord as your Personal Saviour and your Best Friend and you are having communion with Him every day, then you've got nothing to fear. Paul said in Philippians 1:21: ”For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” In other words, what we always say here, tongue in cheek, you cannot frighten a Christian with heaven, can you? No, no! If we live, we live for Christ, if we die we go home to heaven, and I want to reassure somebody that is very afraid of death. You don't have to be afraid of death. It's a continuation of the life that you are living. It's only going to be so much sweeter and so much more full of love and peace. So if you are living in the Spirit, if your everyday affairs concern the Lord, whether you're driving a vehicle, whether you're building something, whatever you might be doing, if the Lord is constantly with you, when you die, that's just going to continue. There is no big jump, no big movement, no, a continuation of a simplistic life lived in the Spirit of God.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus precious name! It is Friday morning, the 12th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Leviticus 12:8:”So the priest shall make atonement for her, and she will be clean.' ” What does that mean? “Make atonement” - I looked up the Oxford Dictionary and the literal meaning of the word “atonement” is “reconciliation of God and man.” Father God did it once and for all, for you and for me. He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, down to earth from heaven as a sacrifice, an ultimate sacrifice for all of our sins. Now that, my dear friend, is real love - Jesus, the ultimate sacrifice for our sin! If you read in Leviticus, you will see that the Israelites had to keep going up to the Temple to offer sacrifices for their sins. They took bulls, they took rams, they took goats, they took turtledoves to pay for their continual sins but eventually it wasn't enough, so Father God sent His own Son to be the ultimate sacrifice for your sin and for my sin. John 15:13 says: ”Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.” That is what Jesus did for us. Do you remember that novel written by Charles Dickens, the famous writer? It was called “The Tale of Two Cities, and basically, it is the story of a friend dying for his friend. These were two identical men, and the one went to the guillotine in France in place of his friend, and the famous line in that whole story, that novel, goes like this, ”It is a far, far better thing that I do than I have ever done. It is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known.”I want to say to you today, we too must be prepared to die to self so that Jesus can live through us.Have a wonderful day, God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious Name! It is Thursday morning, the 11th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Matthew 16:16: Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Then we go to Mark 8:29: “Peter answered and said to Him, “You are the Christ.” We go to Matthew 1:23“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” It's all in the Name. It is the most powerful Name in the universe! The only time the people wanted to stone Jesus wasn't because he was healing the sick, raising the dead, opening blind eyes, restoring the cripples, delivering people from leprosy and all kinds of diseases. No, no! They were happy with that, but when He said, ”I am who I am.” When He said, ”I am God made flesh.” Then they wanted to stone Him and nothing has changed. Even as I am recording this message early in the morning, there are people in the world who are being martyred, not for stealing, not for murdering, not for raping, not for plundering, but because we say Jesus is God. It's using that Name!People are being put in jail, as I'm talking to you now, because they have been found in possession of a Bible on them. Why? Because the devil hates God and the devil hates God's people, but the good news is, when you and I use that Name, and I've done it all my life, there is power in the Name. I have seen the Lord with my own eyes, and I have many witnesses of the weather changing because we pray in that Name. I have seen sick people healed because we have said, ”In the Name of Jesus Christ, be healed!” Today, do not be ashamed of the Gospel of Christ because that is where the power is. We are not in any way to apologise for our faith to anybody. When you use the Name God, no one is offended because God is who you presume Him to be. Maybe you worship the trees, maybe you worship some idol, some foreign god, but when you use the Name which is above every other Name, then all the demons in hell hate to hear that Name, but that is where the power is!Today and this Christmas season, let us worship Immanuel, God with us. That little baby, in that manger in Bethlehem, came down from heaven to earth to save you and me.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 10th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 10:9. Jesus says: ”I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.” Jesus is the door. What is a door? It's a movable barrier to the entrance of a room. Now, in the old days, the shepherd would take his flock at night, as the sun was going down, and he would take them home to a little enclosure close to his home, but there was no door in that enclosure. The shepherd himself would sleep across the doorway. If any wolf or any wild animal wanted to come in during the night and take one of the sheep, that animal had to go across the shepherd who was lying at the door. I want to say to you today that there is no other entrance into the Kingdom of God but by the way of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the one who allows us to go in. He is the one who protects us and He is the one who directs our paths. He is the only way. There are no short cuts over the wall, no, only way through the door. John 14:6 tells us very clearly: 'Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Today, I feel it on my heart to pray for you. There are many people who are trying to make a way and they are failing. A young person came to me not so long ago and said, ”Why have I never got enough money? I'm always short of money.” Maybe you are not doing it the right way. Maybe, you are not going through the door. You are always trying to make a plan which is not working. Today, I want to urge you to do it God's way. I want to pray a little prayer for you and I would like you to follow me on this prayer.Dear Lord Jesus, We acknowledge you as the Good Shepherd. You have been sent by Your Father to look after Your sheep. Please help us to obey You and to go through the right entrance in order to find eternal life. We ask this in Your precious name, amen.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 9th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Leviticus 10:3 (Amplified Version): “Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord said:‘I will be treated as holy by those who approach Me,And before all the people I will be honoured.'”So Aaron, therefore, said nothing.”What had happened was, the two sons of Aaron had decided to make a plan. They had decided to bring an offering of fire to the altar in the Tabernacle but God did not receive it because they did not do it with respect towards Him and they died on the spot. Then we go to John 2:5. and the servants came to Mary, Jesus' mother and they wanted to know, “What must we do?” Mary said, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”I want to say to you this morning, God has really laid this on my heart, for me as well - a good idea is not always a God idea. The Lord does not want you and I to help Him. He wants you and I to obey Him. Don't try and help God, rather obey Him because He is a Holy God. Commandment Number Five, which the Lord gave Moses to give us to obey is “Honour your mother, Honour your father, so that your days may be long in the land.” Now that is a commandment. It doesn't matter what they say to you, do it for God's sake so that the Lord will honour you. Do you know, that is the first commandment in the Bible with a promise added to it. “Honour your mother and your father so that your days may be long in the land.”I want to tell you a quick story before we close. I remember reading many years ago of a man sitting in his office, and on the windowsill of his office, there was a cocoon, and in the cocoon was a pupa, and this little worm was trying to get out of the cocoon so that it could turn into a beautiful butterfly, but it was struggling, and he watched it as he was doing his work at the desk and eventually he thought, “I will just help it.” He had a little knife on his desk, he took the knife and cut open the cocoon. He tried to help the butterfly. What happened? The butterfly just fell out of the cocoon and onto the ground. You see, when a butterfly comes out of a cocoon, it needs to exercise and strengthen it's wings and it's body so that it can fly.Do not try and help God, just obey Him! Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 8th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 10:4 and this is Jesus speaking. He says:”And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.” I want to ask you a question this morning, I'm asking myself the same question. Do we know His voice? It is vital in these last days that you know the voice of the Good Shepherd because there are other shepherds who are not good and you can so easily be misled.I've just come back from visiting my great-grandson. I am now a great grandfather. He is a small little baby. He's one year old and he is still suckling from his mother's breast and I want to tell you, it is so wonderful for me and my wife Jill to see the communication that that little baby has with his mother. Why? Because he knows his mother's voice, and most of all because he spends all day with his mother. Jesus says that we must know His voice. The shepherds in the Middle East don't herd their sheep with sheep dogs as we do in the West. No, the sheep follow the shepherd, and how is that so because the shepherd spends all day long with his flock of sheep, because in the Middle East, they don't have fences to hold in sheep. We have fences in the west to hold in the sheep. We put them in the paddock and we leave them there and then when it's time for them to come out, we get our sheep dogs and they work very gently with the sheep, don't get me wrong. My son has got working dogs but in the Middle East they don't have fences so the shepherd is sitting under the tree with his sheep all day long like the Good Shepherd. It's because of spending time. I have seen where a number of shepherds will come down to a watering point on a hot, hot day with their respective flocks of sheep. Maybe five or six shepherds with six flocks of sheep and all the sheep are mixed up together. A nightmare for a shepherd in the west and they drink together and the shepherds sit under the tree and they talk to each other and when it's time to go they call their sheep, folks. It's a fact, and those sheep will leave the mixed up flock and they will follow their shepherd. Then the next shepherd will call his sheep and they'll move off in another direction because they know his voice.I want to encourage you to get to know the voice of God. You say, ”How?” by spending time with Him, by reading your Bible every morning, by praying and talking to Him every day, in the workplace, when you're travelling and by listening to Christian music and spending time with other Christians, you will hear the voice of God.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 7th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Numbers 6:22-26: “And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them:“The Lord bless you and keep you;The Lord make His face shine upon you,And be gracious to you;The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,And give you peace.” 'What a beautiful blessing from God, spoken by Aaron, the High Priest! Then we go to the Gospel of John 14:27. Jesus said: “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” What a beautiful blessing from the Master, Himself! Now, I remember many years ago, I don't know if this is true, it probably is, or just a legend, but when John, the last apostle, was a very old man they would bring him in to the different meetings and as he would walk in, the first thing he would say was, ”Little children, love one another.” And often they would say, “But John, you always say that when you come to visit us - the first thing you say, 'little children love one another'.” Then tears would fill his eyes and he would say, “Because that is what the Master used to say to us.” Yes, John was the last disciple, and he quoted Jesus.I want to say to you over this Christmas period, “Little children, love one another and bless each other in a world that has gone upside-down, where it is all about “me”, and “give me this!” and “give me that!” and “this is mine!” Just love one another. There is nothing more powerful in this world, especially in the family. When family come home, be patient with them and love them. When there is turmoil in the family, just love one another and the Holy Spirit will do the rest.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful Sunday,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, 6th December 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Leviticus 6:13: “A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out.” Now that fire was made in the tabernacle, which was the portable temple of the people of Israel. It was never, ever allowed to go out. As over a million people wandered through the wilderness, the tabernacle went with them and the cloud, but inside the tabernacle, there was a fire on the altar. That fire was never allowed to go out. The priests would carry it from place to place. Then we go to the Book of Jeremiah 23:29: “Is not My word like a fire?” says the Lord, “And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” Oh, my dear friend, this morning, remember as we approach the Christmas period, do not let the fire of the Holy Spirit go out in your life because of all the stress and all the running around. Keep the fire going! I was born in Central Africa and many times I've gone into the rural areas where there are not many people. Small groups of tribesmen - they don't have access to lighters and matches to start a new fire every day. They keep the embers glowing all the time. They choose a special wood which is extremely hard and they keep the fire smouldering. I've seen them moving from one place to another and they would carry a handful of red hot coals in a piece of bark, shaped into a container, and they would put those coals in there and when they got to their new campsite they would just blow on those coals, put some grass on top of the coals and the fire would just burst into new light. I want to say to you today, we must carry God's word with us wherever we go. We must take it with us in our hearts, hide it in our hearts. Keep the fire going. You say, ”There are certain places that I'm going to, I can't take God's word.” I want to suggest to you, maybe you don't need to go to those places. Wherever the Israelite nation went, the altar which was glowing with coals of life, went with them. Take God's word with you and He will direct you and you will not make a mistake.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 5th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Matthew 10:27. Jesus says: “…preach on the housetops.” Then we go to Romans 1:16. It says: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” There is power when we are not ashamed. I will never forget that on the 18th of February, 1979, in the little Methodist Church on the Main Street of Greytown, Jill, my wife, myself, and our children went to church that Sunday because I was desperate and didn't know what to do anymore. There were a group of laymen there. The minister wasn't preaching that day. They were builders, farmers, electricians, and sportsmen. They were just ordinary working folk. They were just getting up, one after the other and sharing their testimonies, and telling people what Jesus Christ meant to them. I was absolutely amazed because they were weeping, and I hadn't seen people weep from the pulpit before. Then the altar call was made and we went forward and we gave our lives to Christ. When we went home, we were sitting in the garden and a car drove in and a man got out of that car and he walked up and he said, ”I was in the church service this morning and I saw you go forward and give your life to Christ. Did you mean it?” And of course, there was still a bit of the old man there, I said, “Of course I did. Do you think I would do it if I didn't mean it?” He said, “Well then, I want to challenge you. The first three people you meet tomorrow morning, tell them what you did today.” After a cup of tea, he left us. The next morning, I was on my way to a cattle sale in my pick-up, and I went to pick up my neighbour next door. He was a dairy farmer and as we were driving down the road, I will never forget it, this was the first time in my life that I had the opportunity of not being ashamed of the Gospel. I said, “Ian, I want to tell you something.” He said, “Ja, what?” I said, “Yesterday I gave my life to Jesus Christ.” Well, his face went pale and he looked across and he said, “Angus, I am so pleased for you.” I said, “But what about you, Ian?” He said, “No, no, that is not for me.” But I want to tell you, about a couple of years went by and on a Saturday morning, I was sitting in my farm office doing my accounts when the phone rang. I picked the phone up and it was Ian on the phone. He said, “Angus, I need you and I need you now.” I said, “I am on my way.” I got in my pick-up and I drove straight across to his farm. I walked into his house. His wife was sitting there and his three beautiful daughters, and he said, “Angus, I need Jesus.” Well, we knelt together on the carpet in his sitting room and Ian gave his life to Christ. He has since gone to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, and I have never stopped since that day telling people about Jesus Christ. Today, stand up, be bold and be counted.God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 4th of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Proverbs 14:12: “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” Then we go to the New Testament, to 1 Corinthians 10:12: “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.”Today I read a beautiful article in another devotional and the title was “Deterioration”. I looked up the Oxford Dictionary. It means, “becoming gradually worse or going downhill.” Now Solomon had an incredibly wonderful start in his life. Remember? Remember, the Lord woke him up and he was dreaming and He said, “What do you want? I will give you anything.” And he said, “I want wisdom to govern my people.” Solomon was the son of King David. The Lord said to him, ”Because you have asked correctly, I am going to give you everything else.” He was the wisest man who ever lived, he was an architect (remember, he built the temple), he was extremely popular, a very, very handsome man, very clever. He also wrote the Book of Ecclesiastes, we believe. He talks about “Vanity, vanity, this life is like chasing the wind.” I hope you are not there today, my friend. I really mean that with all of my heart.I really hope you don't think, “I have got it all together, I don't need anybody, I can do this myself, I have made my own plan." Folks, there is only one way down when you get to the top, and that is straight down. I want to tell you about a man named Howard Hughes. Maybe some of the younger people don't remember him. Howard Hughes was a filmmaker, an aviator, and an incredible pilot and aircraft designer. They described him as a millionaire genius who lost his mind. Isn't that so sad? He lost his mind. What happened? He became a recluse, living all by himself, and then slowly but surely wasted away to nothing. I want to say to you today, be careful how you stand lest you fall.Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 3rd of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 8:32: “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” What a beautiful promise from the Lord! The truth sets us free, but the lies of the devil enslave us. I want to speak particularly to young people this morning. It is so easy to tell a lie. There is no such thing as a white lie. A lie is an untruth, and it's from the devil himself. It's not from the Lord because what it does is, it enslaves you, it entangles you. You know what they say, tongue in cheek? They say if you are a liar, you have got to have a good memory because your lies will catch you out! You tell a lie, then you have to tell another lie on top of that, and then you have to remember the first lie, or you get caught out. Don't go there. Just tell the truth. The most important thing is to say, “I am sorry, I made a mistake. Please forgive me.” That person will normally forgive you straight away, but when you start telling lies, it just gets worse and worse. Now, Who is the truth? Well, I want to say to you, moms and dads, His name is Jesus Christ. He is truth. He is my best Friend. He is the one who set me free from telling any kind of lies. Now Pontius Pilate had Jesus standing in front of him, and he asked Jesus a question (in John 18:38). He said, “What is truth?” Now, you know he was looking right into the very face of truth itself. Jesus says if you tell the truth, you shall be made free, free from any accusation of the devil. The truth sets us free, and lies enslave us. Do you remember we used to wear those bracelets around our wrists with the letters, “WWJD” - what would Jesus do? Maybe we should put those on again because I want to tell you now, Jesus would always tell the truth. So when you go to school and you haven't done your homework, don't tell a lie when the teacher asks you. Just say, “I am very sorry I have not done my homework.” You will get punished, and then it is finished, but when you start making excuses and telling lies, you get into worse trouble.Today, ask Jesus to make you accountable for the truth. Whatever they ask you, tell them the truth. I want to say to that man, tell your wife the truth and you will be set free. I want to say to that lady, go to your husband and tell him the truth, and he will love you even more.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 2nd of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Leviticus 5:16:”And he shall make restitution for the harm that he has done…” Then we go straight to the New Testament to the Book of Luke 19:8: ‘Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.” Four hundred per cent! I want to say to you today, maybe there's something troubling you in your life. Maybe you've had an experience with the Lord, and you've got extreme joy and peace in your heart but there's something that is tugging at your conscience, and he is the accuser, he's the devil. He doesn't want to let you go, and every time you want to stand up for the Lord, he reminds you of some unfinished business from your previous life. I want to say to you today, sort it out, deal with it. Make restitution, pay back what you owe, go and apologise to the person you hurt, write a letter to that loved one and say, “Please forgive me for my part in the argument,” so you can be free indeed. Now you know my story, I've told you this story before. Many, many years ago, I came into South Africa with all the farming equipment that I could get out of the country. I came through customs, and I did not declare everything. Now that didn't bother me as an unbeliever, but once I gave my life to Christ, I started to feel guilty. That guilt does not come from the Lord, it comes from the devil, he's the accuser. Jesus is the one who convicts and I said to my family one day, ”I'm going to the Customs Department in Pietermaritzburg and I'm going to declare all the stuff I brought in without telling them.” I had all kinds of accusations from the devil. “They are going to put you in jail. You've got a young wife, you've got children, who's going to look after them?” But I could not have peace in my heart until I had made restitution.I went to the Customs Office, I declared everything that I'd brought in. The Customs Officer said to me, “Sir, all those things you brought in are duty free. You don't owe us anything.” Well, I want to tell you, I didn't walk out of that office, I flew like an eagle out of that office. I was so relieved. A burden was taken off my back, a lie from the devil.Today, sort out anything outstanding so that you too, can be free.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 1st of December, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 8:12: Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the Light of life.” Jesus is the Light of the world. Then that scripture that you and I know so well, Psalm 119:105: “Your word is a lamp to my feetAnd a light to my path.”If we know Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour, you and I should never, ever get lost because He is the Light and He will show us the way home. I am talking the way home to Heaven. We are not talking so much about physical sight. We are talking about spiritual sight. Helen Keller was an amazing woman. She was born blind and deaf. That baby had no contact with the world. It was like she was in a steel cage and she couldn't get out, but eventually she started to respond to movements on her hand, and then she could speak, she could preach, she was one of America's greatest ambassadors, but she said something that really startled me. She said, “There is nothing more pathetic in this world, than someone who can see but has no vision." Now, I want to ask you a question this morning and I am asking myself the very same question. Do we have vision? We can see but we are going nowhere. Why? Because we need to meet the Man from Galilee. He is the Light of the world. If we look at John 1:1, it says, “In the beginning was the Word…” and then we go to Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet…” It's the Bible, folks, it is the Bible that will give us vision. Helen Keller couldn't see, she couldn't hear, but she had plenty vision. I want to say to you today, open your spiritual eyes. Spend time reading your Bible every single morning and then obeying what you read in the Bible and you will have sight and you will know the way. Remember, Jesus is the Way.God bless you and have a fantastic day,Goodbye
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 30th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Ephesians 4:28: ”Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labour, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.”I want to speak today about the blue-collar worker. We want to speak today about the manual labourer. Never despise a person who works with their hands, whether it is a man or a woman. You know that Jesus was one of them, wasn't He? That's right, He was a carpenter. He was not a priest, He was a carpenter. Adam was the first farmer in the Bible, so was Noah. Noah was a farmer, Abraham was a farmer, Isaac and Jacob were farmers. Peter, James and John were fishermen. Mary was a housewife. She was the mother of the Saviour of the world. She had more impact on our Master's upbringing than anybody else, a mother who looked after her babies.I want to say to you today, the mechanic, the miner, the road-worker, the electrician, the blacksmith, the boiler-maker, the cabinet maker, the cook - these are ordinary people who make the world go around. Oh yes! Oh yes! Never criticise a farmer with your mouth full! You have heard of that saying before, because if you have no food to eat, you are going to die. I want to tell you a little story. When I gave my life to Christ, my wife and I, it was a long time ago, it was on the 18th of February 1979, and I was so excited when I met the Saviour. I went home and I said to Jill, “We are going to give the farm away. I am going to go to Bible College and study to be a pastor to look after people.” I went up to the mountains, I fasted and prayed for 6 days and Jill stayed at home and she was also fasting and praying, and God gave us one scripture. We both got the same scripture, can you believe that? I came home, I said, “I have got the answer”. She smiled and she said, “I know, I have got it too.” God gave us a scripture that you can find in 2 Corinthians 9:8: “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” “Stay on the farm, don't give it away. Make it a place for My Holy Spirit to move.” And look what has happened since then! Yes, we have made employment on the farm, we had a children's home on this farm, we have a church on the farm. We started one of the men's movements in the world on this farm, written books, made movies. Just be careful that you don't give up your trade because you probably have more impact on people than any preacher.God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name!It is Saturday morning, 29th November 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of John 7:44-46 (Amplified Version): ”Some of them wanted to arrest Him (that's Jesus), but no one laid hands on Him. Then the guards went [back] to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, “Why did you not bring Him [here with you]?” The guards replied, “Never [at any time] has a man talked the way this Man talks!” Oh, what an orator! You know what an orator is? I looked up the Oxford dictionary - "a person who is good at public speaking”. Well, who was the greatest orator of all time? His name is Jesus Christ! When the High Priest's soldiers were told to go and arrest Him and they heard Him speaking, they couldn't touch Him. They said, ”We have never ever heard a man speak like this before.”I've got a book, it's called ”Speeches That Changed The World”, and it's got the most famous speeches, right from the beginning, right up until now, all kinds of speeches, good ones, bad ones, ugly ones. We just think of Abraham Lincoln. He said, ”Government of the people, by the people, for the people.” Then we look at Winston Churchill during the Second World War, he said, ”Blood, toil, tears and sweat. We shall fight on the beaches, but we will never give up.” Prime Minister Nehru, at the Independence of India said, ”At the stroke of the midnight hour, India will awake.” Then we think of John F Kennedy. He said, "Ask not what your country can do for you. Rather ask what you can do for your country.” But I want to tell you about my friend, Jesus Christ. He spoke to me, almost audibly, through a man, not even a preacher, we're talking about laymen. They came to our little church and started to tell us about Jesus, and it was like my eyes were opened for the first time and Jesus said, ”Come to me, all of you who labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls”Today, listen to the greatest speaker who has ever lived upon the earth. He saved my soul. He can save your soul today if you will open your spiritual ears and listen to what He wants to tell you.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 28th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Leviticus 3:1:‘When his offering is a sacrifice of a peace offering…” Then we go straight to the New Testament in the Gospel of John 14:27. Jesus says: ”Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.“ The dove, the symbol of peace. It symbolises peace and also new beginnings. If we remember Noah's Ark when the whole world was flooded, the dove returned when the rain stopped, after everything had settled, with an olive branch in it's beak, signifying the end of the flood and new life and new beginnings. Yes, the dove is also the symbol of the Holy Spirit. At Jesus' baptism, at the Jordan river, remember, the Holy Spirit came down in the form of a dove and settled on the Lord. The dove represents reconciliation, mom, dad, brother, sister, reconciliation between God and man. If we look at Matthew 5:9: ”Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.” We named this farm that we are on at the moment “Shalom” and we named it almost fifty years ago. When we arrived with our truck and trailer from Zambia, with our little children, they were just babies. I will never forget, I'd come home for a bit of lunch, in those days there were no cellphones, we had the old crank system on the telephones, two shorts, one long! Do you remember that? Yes, the older people do, the younger people have no idea. We got a phone call from the Deeds Office in Pretoria. They said, ”We have just approved the subdivision of your farm; we need a new name.” I shouted through to the bedroom, ”Jill, I've got the Deeds Office on the phone. They need a name for the farm.” This was before we became Christians. "Give us a name quickly, any name.” I heard that beautiful voice come through and say, ”Call it Shalom.” I said to the Deeds Office, ”The name is Shalom.” And those of you who know us well will agree that the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ has really blessed many multitudes on this farm. His name is Jesus, the Prince of Peace.Have a wonderful day and go out and sow peace.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 27th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Isaiah 55:11, and the Lord says; ”So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Then we go to the New Testament, John 7:26:”But look! He speaks boldly, and they say nothing to Him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is truly the Christ? “ Now, remember what happened. Jesus told the disciples to go up to Jerusalem to the Feast of Tabernacles. He said, ”I will come later,” because they were seeking to kill Jesus. So eventually He came to Jerusalem on His own, and then He started to teach in the temple. His words were so bold that everyone listened without a word. The power of the spoken word of God. They recognised Jesus as the Christ, the Messiah, by the words which proceeded from His mouth.I want to say to you today, my dear friend, and this applies to me, we are not using the word of God enough. That is where the power is! William Shakespeare was a great writer, but there's no power when you quote Shakespeare. When you quote Sigmund Freud, there's no power. When you even quote Albert Einstein, supposed to be the most brilliant mind, there's no power, but when you quote the Word of God, there is power which accompanies the spoken Word of God.I have had the privilege of speaking at the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem a number of times, and I want to tell you when you say, ”thus says the Lord,” the power comes down folks, especially if you believe it. If you look at some of those old crusade tapes of Dr Billy Graham and he says, ”and the word of God says….” As soon as he quotes Scripture, you can feel the presence of the Holy Spirit in that stadium amongst those thousands and thousands of people. I've experienced it in my own life, standing up there, feeling totally inadequate, but as soon as I start quoting the word of God, a supernatural power comes down and energises me, and I can see a change in that vast crowd.I want to speak to mothers today. You've got a sick child. Oh mom, go and lay your hands on your child and speak the Word of God over that child, speak healing over that little child. I want to say to dad, he doesn't know what to do at work anymore, there are big problems there. Speak the Word of God. I really mean that, quote Scripture. You will be surprised by how the men will come into line.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 26th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Exodus 40:37-38: “But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not journey till the day that it was taken up. For the cloud of the Lord was above the tabernacle by day, and fire was over it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.” They did not move until the cloud moved. Then we go to the Book of Acts 1:4: “…He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father,…”The Lord wants to talk to you and me this morning about not becoming so impatient. Many of us think that the Israelites just wandered aimlessly through the wilderness for 40 years. No, they didn't. Their Heavenly Father did not leave them as orphans. He put a cloud over the tabernacle and He said, “Don't move until the cloud moves,” and then at night a pillar of fire, as a sign of protection over them. We must not move until the Lord tells us to move. We go to the Acts of the Apostles, after the Lord Jesus Christ had been resurrected, they were totally lost, the disciples were all huddled together in the Upper Room. I have been to that room, I have laid on the floor of the Upper Room. I was so blessed, Jill and I. There wasn't a soul in that Upper Room when we were there that day, and we just lay on that floor and we just worshipped God. He said that we must wait for the promise of the Father. Now that is where a lot of us are making mistakes. We are running ahead of God, and that is why we are getting into trouble. As a young farmer, I remember us going through a drought period. I had planted my maize crop, but there was no rain. I wanted to disc it in and start again, but I didn't have the money. I waited, and you know something? My neighbours put the plough in and started all over again. I waited and I waited and then the rain came! When the rain came, that maize came through. It was a beautiful crop. If I had not waited, I would have got myself into terrible financial trouble.Today, wait for the promise of God. When the cloud moves, you move. When the cloud doesn't move, you stay. If God doesn't tell you to go, you better stay. If God tells you to go, pack your bags, then leave today. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful, peaceful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 25th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of John 7:1:”After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for He did not want to walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill Him.” Have you ever felt unwanted, my dear friend? Maybe this morning, you are feeling very alone because of your love and stand for Jesus Christ. Have you ever felt excluded? Now, this is an old term, “sent to Coventry”. What does it mean? I looked up the Oxford dictionary. It means being excluded from a group or social interaction and being given the silent treatment. Have you ever felt like that? Oh yes, and especially if you're at school or university, you're not one of the boys, you're not one of the girls anymore. Why, what have you done wrong? No, you've done nothing wrong. What you have done is, you have identified yourself with Jesus Christ. That's all you've done. You feel lonely? Well, I want to tell you, Jesus couldn't even go up to Jerusalem because the Jews were waiting for Him, they wanted to kill Him. What had He done wrong? Nothing at all. He came to save the world!Have you felt left out of the office party? It's coming to the end of the year. Will you be welcome there? Yes, we can come but they don't talk to us, especially when they start getting drunk and they start telling filthy stories. You feel totally isolated, don't you? What about that sports team? You are one of the best players, you know that, but they keep preferring other people. Why? Because you are not popular because of your stand for Christ. Have you been overlooked at work maybe, for a promotion, because you will not back down and say that all roads lead to heaven, live and let live? No, because you love people, you've told them the truth but it's made you very unpopular.Well, I want to tell you today, shout for joy because you must be doing something right. If you look at Luke 10:20. The Lord says that your name, my name is written in the Book in Heaven, oh yes! When Jesus comes back, will He identify you as His friend or one of the gang? Well, stand tall, you won't have to put your hand up He will find you, and He will take you home to be with Him, but in the meantime, the most important thing is that you do not compromise your stand for anybody.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 24th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Mark 8:34. Jesus said:“Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.” Wow! Strong words! Remember, the cross represents death and self-denial. Then we go to John 6:66:”From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.” That must be one of the saddest verses for me in the Bible. These men were His disciples. There were about 120 of them, then only 12. This Christian walk is not a bed of roses, don't let anybody tell you that. In fact, if there are any preachers listening to this message, be careful how you talk. I've got to do the same. It's not a case of come to Jesus and all your problems will be over, not at all. It's come to Jesus, and He will walk with you through the fire. He didn't say He'll take you out, but He will never leave you nor forsake you!Remember the rich young ruler? He said to Jesus, ”I have obeyed all the commandments.” And Jesus said, “But there's one thing that you haven't obeyed.” He didn't say that to him because He wanted money; He was testing him. He said, ”Give your riches to the poor, and come and follow me.” The Bible says that the rich young ruler walked away.I remember a minister saying to me, ”Jesus must have been standing there with tears running down His face.” He didn't run after him and say, ”Listen, let's negotiate, just give half of your money away.” No, He stood there and He watched that man on his road to hell. Oh yes - we need to understand something, if we want to follow the Lord, we've got to put Him first in our lives. That beautiful cross, young lady, beautiful silver or gold cross hanging around your neck, and by the way, I love to see people wearing the cross of Jesus, it doesn't represent prosperity. It doesn't represent anything to do with self, it is a sign that Jesus Christ died for you and He died for me, and we in turn must put the flesh down and start to live for Him. It is so beautiful to see people giving their lives to Christ, but then they need to follow through, but by the grace of God we will succeed.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 23rd of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Exodus 39:43: ”Then Moses looked over all the work, and indeed they had done it; as the Lord had commanded, just so they had done it and Moses blessed them.” They had completed the task. They had done the work of the building of the tabernacle of God in the desert and Moses blessed them. Then we go to the gospel of Mark 14:16:”So His disciples went out, and came into the city, and found it just as He had said to them; and they prepared the Passover.” We're talking today about doing a good job for the Lord. We've got to give the Lord Jesus the best, not the second best, not the leftovers. The Lord sent Peter and John to prepare a place for the last meal that He would have on earth. The Lord Jesus told them where to go and what to do but they did it with excellence, just like they built the tabernacle with excellence. I want to say to you today that you and I must do things for God with an excellent spirit. Now, I want to tell you a little story. Many years ago, when I was a fairly new preacher, I felt led to go to Cedarville in Kwazulu-Natal, to book the town hall and to have an outreach meeting. A very dear friend of mine said to me, ”There's only one man who can do that for you. He's an unbeliever, but he's an exceptional organiser, and this man will do it, but I'm not sure whether he'll accept the proposal because he's not a Christian.” Anyway, miraculously, my friend approached him and he said, ”Yes, I'll think about it. Where does this guy stay?” That's me, and he told him the address and where the farm was. He arrived on the farm in a very big, fancy Mercedes-Benz. He got out of the car, I said, ”Would you like to come and have a cup of coffee? I've been expecting you.” He said, "No, thank you, I'm very busy.” He said, ”What's your name?” I told him who I am, and he said, ”I will organise it for you.” I said, ”Is that all there is to it?” He said, ”I'll do everything,” and out he drove, and he did an incredible job of preparation and by the way, he gave his life to Christ in the middle of that outreach, and he became a preacher himself, him and his dear wife. They had a little caravan and they drove all over the Eastern Cape, preaching the gospel and I asked him many many years later, ”Mike, why did you accept that invitation when you didn't even know who I was?” He said, ”Because I drove onto your farm and I saw the fences were straight, the road was nicely prepared, the maise looked fantastic, the cattle were fat and I thought, I will do this job.” We need to do a good job because it makes a good impression. Don't give God your second best, and do everything you do as unto Him. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 22nd of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of John 6:42: ”And they said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says, ‘I have come down from heaven'?” What a beautiful statement! “I have come down from heaven”. Oh, my dear friend, I want to tell you something so special and precious this morning. I want to tell you about Jesus. Jesus is God, made flesh. If we look at Matthew 1:23. He is referred to as, “Immanuel”. What does that mean? It's a Hebrew word which means, “God with us”, and if you look at John 14:9, Jesus Himself said, ”If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father.” So that is where all the problem came from in that little town of Nazareth, where Jesus said, ”I have come down from heaven.” They couldn't understand that. They said, ”This is the son of Joseph and Mary, who live up the road.” What they did not realise was that God became flesh and dwelt among us! Many years ago, I heard a story about somebody who came up to an evangelist and said, ”You know, we all serve and we all believe in the same God.” And this man said, ”No, we don't.” And he said, ”What do you mean?” And then the evangelist asked this man, ”Does your god have a son?” And the man said, ”No, He does not.” And he said, ”That's why we don't serve the same God. You see, the God I serve has a Son. His name is Jesus Christ.” I want to say to you today, at the end of the day, we can argue as much as we like, but the bottom line for me is this - relationship. I know a Man, a Man who can walk on water, I know a Man who can raise the dead, I know a Man who is coming back very soon! Yes, in my little quiet time room where I'm recording this message, I can tell you, I can feel His presence. Yes, I can feel Him, I can sense Him and I'm telling you that He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother and He wants to be your friend today. Please speak with Him, He's waiting to hear from you.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 21st of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to 2 Corinthians 5:17:”Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” No regrets about the past. If you're a new person in Christ, you've got to look forward. Remember, I'm the farmer. You can't plough a straight line if you keep looking behind you. We've got to move forward. There is no future in the past. I looked up the Oxford dictionary to find out the literal meaning of the word “regret”. Do you know what regret is, young person? “Aah, I shouldn't have done that. I wish I hadn't done that,” and the older people, ”Man, I should have thought more. I should have phoned my friend before he died, but he's gone now and I won't get a chance to speak to him again in this life.”A regret, according to the Oxford dictionary, is “to feel sorry or to be disappointed about something that you have done or something that you should have done.” There's no point in looking back, we've got to move forward. Now, C S Lewis, is one of my favourite authors, a very deep man in the Lord. A man who had a previous life, he was actually an atheist, he had no time at all, he didn't believe in God, and then he had a beautiful encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ, and this is what he says. He says, ”You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”Isn't that beautiful? I'll say that once again. I think it's very pertinent today to somebody who's trying to come to grips with maybe something terrible that happened in the past. You wish you could rectify it, but you can't. He says you can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start, that's today, where you are, and change the ending! Let's do it, you and I, let's say: Lord, we are so sorry for the mess-ups we've made in the past, the people that we've hurt, the things we should have done and we didn't do it, but Lord, I want to start today and I want to change the ending of my life. In Jesus' name, amen.God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 20th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of Matthew 6:33. Jesus says: ”But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” What a beautiful scripture! Seek first the kingdom. First thing in the morning, that's the time, seek the face of the Lord. Get your directions for the day, and then you will have a pleasant, successful and peaceful day.John Bunyan was the man who wrote the fantastic book called “The Pilgrim's Progress”. They say it's maybe the most read book of all time, next to the Bible itself. A beautiful story. He spent most of his life in jail because of his stand for Jesus Christ. Now he says, and I quote, ”He who runs from God in the morning will scarcely find Him the rest of the day.” Basically, if you don't have a quiet time in the morning, you will never catch up right through the day. Come on, let's be honest. We need to change those principles now, and we need to put Jesus first every morning and then the rest of the day will go well. Seek ye first the kingdom of God, And His righteousness, And all these things shall beAdded unto you. Halleluh, Hallelujah. Halleluja, Halleluja,Halleluja, Halleluh, Halleluja.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 19th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 6:35 (Amplified Bible): “Jesus replied to them, “I am the Bread of Life. The one who comes to Me will never be hungry, and the one who believes in Me [as Saviour] will never be thirsty [for that one will be sustained spiritually].” Jesus Christ is the bread of life. Have you ever been to a bakery very, very, early in the morning, where they make the bread at the back of the bakery and bring it out on trays? It is looking so beautiful, so brown and a delicious aroma. Aah, I love it so much, and then when you cut a slice of that bread, and you take some fresh farm butter and you spread it over liberally, and it starts to melt into that hot bread, I don't think there's too much that tastes better than that! That's why I get up in the morning at 4 o'clock, because I don't like to eat stale bread. I don't like to eat bread that is old. I don't like to eat bread that is contaminated by the things of the world. We must get the Bread of Life, every single morning before anything else. Before we listen to the world news, before we start phoning other people and getting different opinions of different world events, we must go to the bakery, my dear friend. Radio Pulpit always says to me when we talk about evangelism, it is one hungry beggar showing another hungry beggar where to find bread. He says where to find the bakery, because that's where the spiritual Bread of Life is. So, young person, today I want to tell you, get up in the morning and get into your quiet time room, wherever that might be. Open your Bible and read the Word of God, and that word will sustain you for the whole day, but if you don't go to the bakery early in the morning, you'll have to put up with stale bread, contaminated bread, which will confuse you.Get to the Bread of Life. His name is Jesus!God bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 18th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 6:27: “Do not labour (do not work) for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life,…” This is Jesus speaking. Then we go back to the Old Testament, to the Book of Ecclesiastes 1:14. They say it was written by Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived. He says it is “grasping for the wind” Are you grasping for the wind today? Are you on the wrong track? Are you spending all your time, all your effort, in building up things which will perish, maybe even before you die, and have no everlasting benefit to anyone or anything? We need to be like Jesus and get our priorities in order. Mark 8:36, the word of God says: “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” I want to say to you today, be careful that you're not putting all your effort into something that has no eternal value. Yes, we have to put food on the table for our families, we have to be responsible citizens, but we have to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and then all these other things will be added to us.Today please, listen to what the Lord is saying to us. Stop chasing after the wind and start seeking Jesus Christ, and He will undertake for you in every area of your lives. Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, 17th November 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Exodus 36:7:” …for the material they had was sufficient for all the work to be done—indeed too much.” The people were bringing in the material to build the tabernacle but they brought in so much, eventually Moses had to say, ”Stop, there's too much.” What a beautiful attitude! I think many of us need to take a good look at ourselves and ask if we are doing that very thing when it comes to the things of God. Then we go to 2 Corinthians 9:7:”So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.” Today we want to speak about giving. When the Children of Israel began contributing to the building of the tabernacle, before the temple was constructed, God provided them with exact specifications. The people brought in the materials, and the artisans constructed the building. Here, I believe God is saying to you and me, we need to check our motive for giving. Why do we give? It's so sad when I hear some men talking more about money than about anything else. Now it is a fact that you cannot out-bless the Lord. Our Father is a giver by nature. He gave us His only begotten Son so that we might have eternal life through faith in Him, and He gave His Son willingly, but if you are giving to the Lord expecting a return, like an insurance policy, that is not acceptable to God. We give to the Lord because we love Him, and God says He loves a cheerful giver. We give because He's given us so much. Zacchaeus, remember the little man up the tree, when Jesus came to his house, and all the other tax collectors, the thieves were together, Zacchaeus said, ”I'm going to give up to 400 per cent of anything I have taken from anyone”. - just in gratitude for the salvation that he has received. You know, it's not even the amount you give. Look at the widow, she only had a couple of cents. Jesus said she's given more than the man with the bag of gold, who had so much money. We slaughtered 40 oxen to feed the men at the Mighty Men Conference in 2008, when we had the biggest tent in the world, for one meal folks. I can't believe it either! We fed them for a whole weekend, but you know something? We never went short, and at the end of that event, everything we gave to the Lord, He gave back to us. We owed nobody a thing.Today, give with a cheerful heart and the Lord will do the rest,God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 16th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Exodus 35:10: ”All who are gifted artisans among you shall come and make all that the Lord has commanded” - they were building the tabernacle for God. Then we go to Mark 6:3: ”Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary…”Who were they speaking about? Jesus Christ. Jesus was an artisan. Jesus was a tradesman. Yes, the Greek word “tektōn” means “carpenter-builder,” so He probably worked with wood and stone. We need to use our gifting to glorify God. We have a widow who stays with us here at Shalom, and she is a very godly woman. She is a quiet woman, she's not a preacher, but I want to tell you something now, she preaches with a paint brush. Yes, she is a talented artist. Just hanging behind my chair right here in my prayer room is the most beautiful painting that she painted for me, many many years ago of the Holy Nativity and even as we are approaching Christmas, it is very important to me again, to see the little Babe in a manger with His mother and father, literally looking onto Him. She preaches with a paintbrush.I also have a grandson here at Shalom. I have many grandsons, this one is very young. He is a gifted worker with leather. He's not shy, but he's a quiet cowboy. With his hands, he makes leather belts, he makes bridles for his horses, he makes halters to catch his horses in the field, and he expresses his love for Jesus through the gifting that God has given to him. Today, I want to say to mom and dad, let your child express their love for Christ through the gifting that the Holy Spirit has given them, whatever it might be, because through it, God will get the glory.Do you remember Saint Francis of Assisi? He was a member of a very wealthy family. He gave it all up and went out to live with the poorest of the poor. He built a monastery basically with his bare hands. Now, I don't know if it is an actual fact or not, but it is attributed to him as having said, “Preach the Gospel at all costs, and if you really have to, use words.” Very interesting!Today, use what God has given you. We can't all be evangelists, we can't all be teachers, we can't all be ministers, but we can all use the gift that God has given us to glorify His Son.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, 15th November 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 6:15:”Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.” The most humble person who has ever lived! He said if you want to be the best or the greatest, you must become the least. They wanted to make Him king. He knew it was not His time. He withdrew to the mountains by Himself. Oh folks, we need to be more like Jesus. There are too many of us clamouring to become famous and popular. I looked up John Lennon. He was the leader of probably the most famous rock and roll band in the world at the time, The Beatles. He made a statement and he did apologise afterwards. He said that they were more popular than Jesus, but at the age of 40, he was gunned down and he died.Elvis Presley - I've been to Graceland in Memphis Tennessee, I went with my good friend Tommy. We went to that beautiful house to go and have a look. It was one of the saddest places I've ever been. They said he was such a generous man. Elvis Presley was regarded as the most popular man in the world. They called him “The King of Rock and Roll,” but he could never sleep. He used to play the piano into the early hours of the morning and he would sing hymns they said. His kitchen was open 24 hours a day. He was thronged with friends, well I don't know if they were friends or hangers-on, so much so that his wife and his little daughter eventually left him, and then at the age of 42 years old, in the newspapers, the headlines, “The king is dead.”I want to say to you today, don't seek after the popularity of men, of society, of this world, rather seek after the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, a Friend who sticks closer than a brother, Jesus Christ. Rather be like Him, and you will live a long time and you will live a peaceful life because when you follow Jesus, He gives you life eternal! Jesus bless you and have a wonderful and quiet day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 14th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Exodus 34:29: ”…Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him.” Moses had just come down from Mt Sinai with the Ten Commandments. He had spent 40 days and 40 nights in the presence of our Heavenly Father, and his face was shining like the sun. Isn't that amazing? We go to Matthew 17:2: ”…and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.” That was Jesus, our Saviour, when He went up the Mount of Transfiguration. He shone like the sun when He met with His Heavenly Father. Folks, that can happen to you and me as well if we spend time with the Lord Jesus Christ, then we start to become more and more like Him. Moses had to wear a veil over his face. The people were too scared to come near Him because of the presence of God in His life. Surely that's how we should be as well. People should want to come and be with us because they see the love and the presence of God in our lives, not so much by the way we look, but rather by the way we act and live. You know, little children are very good judges of people who know God. They are drawn to people like that. I've seen them. They'll hang around and stand around and be close to people who spend time with God.I want to tell you about a man that made a big impression in my life when I was a new Christian, many many years ago. His name was Reverend Tom Parker and his dear wife, Gladys. They came all the way from Yorkshire, England and they became the ministers of the little church here in Greytown, one of the dearest men I think I've met in my life. He had a hard life. He was in the Second World War, serving on submarines. He never complained and was always gentle. He wasn't the greatest preacher that I've ever heard but he gave off the presence of Jesus wherever he went. I used to love just sitting, listening to him talking and he would get so caught up in the Holy Spirit, that you battled to follow him when he was preaching, but I want to tell you, he gave the presence of God wherever he went. You and I today as well, people just want the love of God and they are desperate to meet with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.Today, let's be Jesus to them. God bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 13th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Old Testament in the Book of Exodus 34:7:”…by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity (the sin) of the fathers upon the children and the children's children to the third and the fourth generation.” Then we go straight to the Book of Romans 6:23:”For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Beautiful! Many people often contact me and they are very troubled and they say that they really feel oppressed. They find themselves doing the very things they don't want to do and they find out that their parents and their grandparents before them did exactly the same thing. I'm talking about sin. I'm talking about things like alcoholism, drug addiction, immorality even suicide. “Yes, my father took his life, my grandmother took her life, and so what hope is there for me?” Well, there is lots of hope for you today. If we go to Luke 8:2, we'll see that Mary Magdalene was delivered of seven demons by Jesus. He set her free. That woman was the first person to see Jesus resurrected from the tomb on Easter Sunday.I want to pray for you this morning and I want to pray that this thing that you are troubled with will be cut off once and for all. That's why Jesus said: ”It is finished.” John 8:36 says if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. You do not have to walk around with that thing on your back. Today it is going to be cut off and never to be spoken of again. Now if you want me to do that, I'm going to pray for you and maybe you'd like to pray after me:Dear Lord Jesus, Today I repent of all the sins of my fathers and mothers and grandfathers and grandmothers and those before them, because Lord, You came down from heaven to earth to set things straight. You've said if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us and set us free.(1 John 1:9). Therefore, you are free today. Go, as Jesus always said, and sin no more. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 12th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to Mark 6:37:”But He answered and said to them, “You give them something to eat.” We're talking about feeding the five thousand with two fish and five barley loaves of bread. Some thoughtful mother gave her little boy, I'm sure, two little sardines, five little barley loaves of bread, to go to listen to Jesus preaching. That is all the disciples could find, but that's all that Jesus needed. Remember what happened? He took the fish, He took the bread, He lifted them up to heaven and He said to the Lord, ”Lord please, You multiply them” and He did.Oh folks, I can give testimony to that. Yes, young man, young lady, it actually happened on this very farm, and the year was 2007 at a Mighty Men Conference. We had ordered a five-thousand-seater tent, and we told the men that we would supply them with food. Well, the big day arrived, the tent was erected and everyone is excited, and seven thousand five hundred men arrived on this farm. I want to say to that housewife, that mother, the one who does all the cooking in the house. How would you like it if an extra 2,500 men came home with your husband and your son to spend the weekend with you, and you had to feed them? I think you'd run for your life. I would. That's exactly what happened. Oh yes!On Friday night, the ladies had prepared food for five thousand men. That's quite a task anyway, but seven thousand five hundred arrived. They came to me, they didn't know what to do, they said, ”Angus, please tell them to go easy with the food.” Now, there were some big strong farmers from all over the country and miners, businessmen, policemen, professional sportsmen, they were all there. I was so overwhelmed at the turnout. I got up on the platform before supper, before we said grace, I said, ”Boys, I have a request from the kitchen, eat as much as you can.” And they did. These boys came out with plates of food from the kitchen, but you know something? Every single one of them got fed, and there were baskets full of leftovers afterwards. Our God is only testing us in this world to see if we can believe Him. There is nothing which is impossible for God.Have a wonderful day, Jesus bless you and goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 11th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Romans 9:14-15: “What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Certainly not! For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.”I am sure you will agree with me - I am so very happy that it is the Lord, our God, who determines our future at the end of the day - upholding fairness, justice and honour. I am so pleased that when I get to Heaven, there is nobody who is going to judge me apart from my Heavenly Father, because we men are so fickle. What does that mean? Well, I know that young man says, “I don't know that word.” Well, today we are hunting with the hounds and tomorrow we are running with the hares. That is how man is, but God is sovereign and steadfast. His “yes” is yes and His “no” is no. He is a compassionate God and a merciful God. All we have to do, even today, is to call upon Him. Don't try and make your own plans, seek the Lord and He will take care of everything. It happened in my own life, I don't know how many times. If it wasn't for God intervening at the 11th hour, I would have been totally lost. Yes, I have been through some severe testings. There have been times when I said, “Lord, where are you? This is not fair.” But at the end of the day all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purposes. (Romans 8:28) Remember that story about that wonderful Zulu preacher, William Duma, he walked very closely with Jesus. He was getting a ride on a bus in the sugar cane fields of KwaZulu-Natal. In the middle of the trip, he felt the Holy Spirit say, “Get off the bus”, so he pulled the emergency cord, and the bus driver screamed to a halt, and he said, “What is wrong?” He was very angry, and the people in the bus didn't understand. There was no bus stop, there was no town in sight, just sugarcane fields. And this little man, a giant in the faith, said, “I have to get off the bus.” And the bus driver said, “Well, get off the bus.” He took his little suitcase, he stepped off the bus, stood on the side of the road, the bus roared off, dust everywhere, and he stood there and he said, “Lord, well I am here. Why am I here?” Do you know that the bus went around the corner and hit another truck, and if William Duma had been sitting where he was, he would have been crushed to death. God has mercy and compassion on you and me. Today, remember He will not let you down. Jesus bless you and have a lovely day,Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 10th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. The Book of Acts 7:51 - this is Steven speaking just before they stoned him to death.“You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.” I want to speak about being stiff-necked. Folks, we must be so careful about that one. To be stiff-necked is to be stubborn, to be rebellious, to be disobedient, refusing to listen, not obeying the word of God. To be rigid and obstinate sounds terrible, doesn't it? That's what a stiff-necked person is like.I've got a son on the farm here and he specialises in training horses that are a trouble to their riders. They send the horse here for three or four months, and he schools them correctly, and one of the hardest things that he has to deal with is a horse that has got a stiff neck. The horse refuses to bend its neck. Now he has to teach it to bend its neck and basically to humble itself so that it can respond to instructions. I don't know how much you know about a horse, but I want to tell you that if a horse has got a stiff neck and it starts to gallop away with you, and it gets the bit in its mouth, it is totally out of control. It cannot see where it is going because its head is in the air. It is a danger to itself and to the rider, and by the way to any passersby, any pedestrians. That horse will run over the edge of a cliff, no problem, run through a barbed wire fence. I've seen it myself because it refuses to listen. I know people like that, people who have hurt themselves terribly because they refuse to say sorry, they refuse to change, and they refuse to listen. The children of Israel were like that. Our Father God in heaven spoke about them as being a stiff-necked people and it cost them severely.Today, you and I, let us start to become soft, pliable, teachable, people who are pleasant to be around. Those are the people who have lots of friends. Don't be standing in the corner like that stiff-necked horse that refuses to change. By the way, if it doesn't change, it has to be put down because it becomes a danger to all those around it. Do not be like that. Today, be a child of God and then God will use you. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 9th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 5:11. This is the former paralysed man speaking: “He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.' ” That man had been paralysed for 38 years. Jesus spoke to him, healed him instantly, a powerful miracle, and then told him to take up his bed and walk. Amazing! I have been to that place. I have prayed for many sick people in that place and they have recovered. It is a beautiful place in the Old City of Jerusalem. It is where the Pool of Bethesda was. Once a year the angel would stir up that pool of water and the first person who was lowered into that water would be healed miraculously. This man had no one to help him into the pool and Jesus said to him, “Take up your bed and walk” and he walked. But you know what is so sad for me is, when the people heard about the miracle and they knew that man, they never glorified God for the miracle. They asked him, “Why are you walking on the Sabbath?” There is a scripture in 2 Corinthians 3:6, and this is what it says: “…for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”We need to be so careful that we don't become judgemental. When the Spirit of God moves folks, we need to rejoice and give all the glory to Jesus Christ. People need the Lord. Now, as you know, I have recently returned from an incredible evangelistic event, where I saw the poorest of the poor - not only poor, but also fearful, anxious, lost, and forsaken. They were not wearing three-piece suits. No, they were very meagrely dressed. I saw a miracle take place. I saw a hunger for Jesus Christ, like I have very rarely seen in my life. I saw a desire to know Him more. I saw people's eyes open when they heard the simple Gospel message. Today, be very careful that you do not kill the Spirit of God by being religious. Religion kills the Gospel. It's the freedom of the Holy Spirit that sets you free! I will never forget that meeting in my life and I will never forget the Pool of Bethesda in the Old City of Jerusalem where we prayed for sick people. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful Sunday.God bless you.
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 8th of November, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Book of Exodus 32:1: “Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, “Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”Oh, I want to tell you my dear friend, when I read that scripture this morning, my heart broke. What short memories do we have? Here is a man, Moses, being directed by God to take the people of Israel, out of slavery, out of Egypt, to take them to the sea, and the Red Sea opened. They passed through the sea, then the Red Sea closed on top of the most powerful army on earth at the time, and drowned them all. Then he turned water that was so brackish that they couldn't drink it into sweet drinking water. They tell me it is still there today. He took them through the most savage of all deserts, where it is over 50 degrees. Then they had no food to eat. He fed them manna from Heaven, every single morning, and partridges (quail). He looked after them, and just because he was a bit late in coming down the mountain with the Ten Commandments, they forgot all about Him.Maybe today you are feeling like that. You are feeling “Angus, I have taken care of my family. I grew them up, I paid for their schooling, I paid for their university, I paid for their wedding and now they don't even phone me.” Or maybe a young person is saying, “My mom, my dad, they don't want anything to do with me. They said, ‘You are on your own now,' but I have loved them and been faithful to them all these years.I want to encourage you today to look up and speak to your Heavenly Father. He understands the hurt that you are experiencing right now because it hurt Him as well when His beloved people turned their backs on Him because His servant, Moses, was a couple of days late, and they went straight ahead and made an idol out of gold. How could they do it? How could your son, your daughter, just walk away? How could your mom and dad disown you?Turn to the Father today and speak to Him. He understands. He will listen to you, He will dry away those tears. Have no animosity, no unforgiveness, and move on.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
