The Blue Jays completed a 6-1 road trip to New York and Boston with an absurd extra-innings victory at Fenway Park that saw them escape runner-on-third-with-no-outs situations in both the eighth and ninth, and overcome at least three examples of sloppy fielding, a 2-for-12 night with RISP, Kevin Gausman's continuing BABIP problems, a Trevor Richards appearance, and the Red Sox' attempt to lull them to sleep by having their relievers take 14 minutes between every pitch. They did so with guts, guile, impeccably executed strategy, Matt Chapman's incredible glove, and another terrific outing from the bullpen. Anthony Bass, Adam Cimber, Tim Mayza, and Jordan Romano combined for four innings of work — two of which were Romano's — that saw the team bend but not break, allowing five hits and two walks but no runs. The bulk of the night was not exactly a good advertisement for the game of baseball, but in the end it was thrilling, and a statement of intent. The Blue Jays are in win-at-all-costs mode, and on Thursday that gave them the edge. Well, that and a brilliant slice of base running from Cavan Biggio and, of course, George Springer. After the game we talked about all this, Chapman's flip play, the best Jays defensive plays of all time, John Gibbons' arrival on Twitter, Saturday's tantalizing Manoah-Ohtani matchup, the 30th annoversary of the 1992 World Series team, and more! She starts with the top of the ninth, because she isn't beholden to your rules and she wants to talk about what a silly decision it was to send Breyvic Valera on that pop up. Even if he was safe because Tom Murphy missed the tag! Still silly! Then she has to stop her unrequited love for Brad Hand and Adam Cimber to talk about the mess they made in the bottom half of the ninth. The good times keep rolling! Fresh off of sweeping the Kansas City Royals over homecoming weekend, the Blue Jays plowed through another limp-dick Central Division team this week, taking three of four from Cleveland. The Blue Jays are now 6-1 in seven games in Toronto this season and are eight games over .500 for the first time since 2016. Tyler finally returned from his long, mystical endeavour in the woods to talk about all of the good times the team has been having lately. We talked about how George Springer has finally arrived, how the starting rotation has suddenly become a strength of the team, and how blessed the Blue Jays are that the Marlins did them a solid and gave Adam Cimber away for virtually nothing. After that, we looked ahead to this weekend's four-game set against the struggling Red Sox. Boston has lost six of their last seven games and the Blue Jays have a chance to really turn their ugly stretch into a serious losing skid. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

They're playing in front of a home crowd and have the energy of a late-season postseason push, and it's making them the most fun team in baseball. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. getting tied up in the dugout? Adam Cimber being imitated? Come on. It doesn't get any better than this. Mark, Bryson and Jacob discuss José Berríos' amazing debut and all that it means for the team, as well as how Charlie Montoyo is a real-life Ted Lasso and should receive credit for Toronto's amazing clubhouse culture. Also discussed: the Blue Jays' emotional return to Toronto, how much this team loves this city, and whether the Blue Jays will be able to sweep the Cleveland Guardians.
