The Lakers' early playoff exit after trading for Luka Doncic is Boomer's top sports story due to the financial implications of Luka leaving money on the table (possibly California taxes). The Knicks have a 3-2 series lead against Detroit, with Cade Cunningham guaranteeing a game seven, which Gio isn't focused on yet. Jerry's sports update: Mets lost to the D-Backs (Mendoza cited lack of clutch hits, Frank The Tank is frustrated with Ryne Stanek, and Chris Majkowski hit 5,000 consecutive Mets games). The Yankees lost in Baltimore, leading to a Maury Povich discussion between Dave Sims and Suzyn Waldman. A Pirates fan is in critical condition after a 21-foot fall. Lastly, the CBS/Jordon Hudson & Bill Belichick story continues with the NY Post digging into Hudson's alleged $8 million real estate gain after meeting Belichick.

Hour 2 Boomer is enjoying 'MobLand' and thinks he had a mutual "where do I know you from?" moment with Ryan Reynolds. They're trying to book Tony Dokoupil to discuss Belichick and Jordon, and Gio has some behind-the-scenes info on the booker. They discussed Jon Rothstein's life-altering accident. Jerry's update: Aaron Judge homered in a Yankees loss, the Rockies got their 5th win, and the Mets' home winning streak ended with a loss to the D-Backs. They celebrated Chris Majkowski's 5,000th game with a clip of him yelling during a brawl. Al predicts Belichick won't coach at UNC. Boomer watched Tom Brady and Peyton Manning hitting golf balls at Jim Nantz's house and recently taped something with Manning. A caller asked about watching the Knicks game on his wife's birthday. Hour 3 JJ Redick abruptly left a post-game interview after being questioned about substitutions, which Boomer likened to the Knicks hiring Wally Szczerbiak as coach. Gio, a Knicks fan, isn't overly enthusiastic about tonight's game. A caller shared his list of big words BT uses, suggesting it's to dominate Sal. Jerry's update: The Rockets beat Golden State (Steph Curry has a swollen hand), and audio of JJ Redick's walk-off press conference was played. Kendrick Perkins criticized Redick. The Yankees lost in Baltimore amid some controversy over an Orioles steal. The Mets struggled with runners in scoring position. Jameis Winston did a Sopranos impression. In the final segment, a caller doubted Tony Dokoupil would appear on their show, and a knowledgeable Boston caller discussed the Belichick situation. Hour 4 Stephen Waldron is struggling to book the CBS interviewer for the Belichick/girlfriend story, so Boomer might handle it. They discussed the new information and statements from CBS and Belichick regarding the interview. A caller shared a story about Evan Roberts allegedly peeing in a cup to avoid missing game action. Jerry's final update: The Timberwolves beat the Lakers (audio from Luka), and the Mets lost to the D-Backs (their second home loss). The Moment of The Day was Chris Majkowski's "get out of the spot" during a brawl. Mike from Boomer's foundation, who injured himself in a bike tour, joined the show.

On deck: (6:22) Have we approached the first Sports Dead Zone of 2025? There isn't much to sink our teeth into, especially with the Super Bowl ten days away. I'll touch on the new defensive coordinator in New York to join Aaron Glenn's staff with the Jets. Chuck Pagano coming out of retirement to be a part of the Ravens defensive staff under John Harbaugh. And Bill Belichick stating that the Vince Lombardi Trophy should be named the Brady Trophy, after his former QB Tom Brady. (10:54) On the hardwood with the Association, there have been reports of the Sacramento Kings dangling their franchise guard, De'Aaron Fox in trade possibilities between now and the deadline next Thursday. Is that a smart move? Commish Adam Silver is thinking about shortening the NBA game from 12 minutes to 10 minutes a quarter. Is this a good idea? I'll see what else is out there when it comes anything regarding the NBA as they're well past the halfway point of the season. (26:35) The only newsworthy item on the ice, is the Utah Hockey Club trying to choose a name for their team. (It's a slow sports week, people.) They had to scrap one name and now are in the process of choosing another. How will this unfold with, I think, are some awful considerations (I.e. Mountaineers, Blizzard and Wasatch) Wasatch?! Alex Ovechkin is still at 874 goals, 21 behind Wayne Gretzky all time. How about the Ottawa Senators? They've crept up the Atlantic Division standings and have staked a claim of being in the middle of the playoff picture in the East. I'll peek at what else is going on as another month looms in a long season. (34:28) College basketball will start to become a part of the podcast until the end of March Madness, which is seven weeks from today. I'll discuss the dominance of the SEC that has four of the top eight and seven of the top 14 teams in the nation. The re-emergence of St. John's and the decline of the two time defending champion, UCONN Huskies, who are currently 25th in the nation at the moment. Will they be able to rise toward a three-peat when the time comes? (44:22) Pitchers and catchers will report for spring training in a couple of weeks plus. Besides a few signings (Carlos Estevez to KC, Ha-Seong Kim to TB and Ryne Stanek re-signs with the Mets) Hal Steinbrenner made a comment about the Dodgers free wheeling offseason and how it's “difficult” to keep up with them. Is he out of line for saying that, considering they've spent a ton of money a month or so ago? Hour 1 Boomer is back with Al and Eddie out for the week. Gio is happy to have his partner back after a few days with Stugotz. The trade deadline is tomorrow and both the Yankees and Mets have already been active. The Yankees brought in show favorite (because of Eddie's drops) Jazz Chisholm Jr. while the Mets have added Jesse Winker and Ryne Stanek. Boomer says it's an all-in move for the Yankees while David Stearns has been making smart moves. The Mets lost Kodai Senga in his first start of the season. Boomer was annoyed at Gleyber Torres for  making a baserunning blunder last night and at the ESPN booth for not calling it out. Chris McMonigle chimes in to defend Gleyber. Jerry is here for his first update and Boomer wants to start with a wellness check on Frank the Tank, so Jerry does just that. Sal tweeted that the NL Wild Card race was over when the Mets took a big lead on Friday night against the Braves. A few minutes later, Kodai Senga went down. Frank the Tank went off on Sal in a video on social media. Gio fills Boomer and Jerry in on his week with Stugotz. The Mets lost Sunday and split their series with the Braves. The Yankees won their second straight from the Red Sox to take two out of three in the series. Jazz Chisholm is now a Yankee. That name has tripped up so many broadcasters already. In the final segment of the hour, Gio says he found the Olympic Opening Ceremony to be very funny. Some people were offended by the drag queens and Gio thought it was funny that the people involved thought it would be well-received. Hour 2 Tua Tagovailoa and Jordan Love received massive extensions over the weekend. Dak Prescott is next in line for an extension and the Cowboys have no choice but to pay him. Patrick Mahomes is now underpaid. Gio is already sick of training camp highlights videos. Boomer is amazed by how much the Giants have allowed to be shown in Hard Knocks. We saw Brian Daboll say he would trade up for a QB. Boomer says if that were him, his relationship with his head coach would be strained. Daniel Jones can't trust anyone left in that building. Gio points out he hasn't earned their trust. Gio wonders about Dave Gettleman's process that led him to Kadarius Toney after seeing how thorough Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll were this year. Gio also wants to know what the Giants thought of Michael Penix. Jerry is back for an update but first we ask if people really believe Sal mushed the Mets. The Mets lost their second straight to the Braves and Ryne Stanek had a rough debut. Jazz Chisholm enjoyed his first Yankees/Red Sox experience and playing in front of a big crowd. Giancarlo Stanton could return tonight. Tua got his massive extension, Jerry Jones had a rough press conference and Boomer was not duped by AI Mike McDaniel. Team USA blew out Serbia while Jayson Tatum didn't play because of “matchups”. A local olympian has a day job. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer expects David Stearns to continue “churning and burning” before the trade deadline. Boomer still feels the Yankees are on their way to the World Series. Who will sit when Stanton returns? How will the Yankees configure their lineup? Gio tells Boomer about how awful it was golfing with Stugotz. Hour 3 Boomer saw his nephew who took a foul ball off his thigh a few weeks ago. A caller played golf with Stugotz's father. Gio explains Stugotz's motives to Boomer. Evan doesn't seem to realize that everyone around him wants his job. Eddie Scozzare is going to be very difficult to replace. Jerry returns for an update but first, Boomer extends Jerry another way-too-late invitation. Jazz Chisholm is open to playing third base for the first time to help the Yankees. The Mets weekend took a bad turn when Kodai Senga got hurt and some fans think it's Sal's fault. Aaron Rodgers congratulated Jordan Love on his extension and encouraged Love to buy his old house. Boomer says the Packers are paying Love for what they think his future can be because he hasn't earned that contract. What can Rodgers do with his empty mansion in Wisconsin? Boomer and Gio begin asking potential candidates Mike Fliegelman and Brian Rascona about replacing Eddie Scozzare. In the final segment of the hour, we wonder what other moves the Mets will make before tomorrow's trade deadline. Boomer says David Stearns owes it to Mets players to be aggressive. Hour 4 We mocked Chris “Mad Dog” Russo for betting 10K on the Jets over but Gio thought about it and actually likes the bet. Gio thinks the Jets can be very good and get off to a hot start. Boomer agrees and says the Jets wanted to start the season on the road. Boomer still sees a Davante Adams trade to the Jets coming at some point. Jerry returns for his final update of the day but first we show off a gift from our friends at spermbank.com. Boomer got some of his sperm bank questions answered during the break. How would everyone on the show be labeled at a sperm bank? The Mets need to win to save Sal from Mets fans, especially Frank the Tank. Jazz Chisholm is excited to be a Yankee. The White Sox are terrible. Aaron Rodgers has a message for Jets fans. He says it's been a  rough 13 years but the tide is turning. Tua got paid. Do Celtics fans care that Jayson Tatum didn't play for Team USA? The Moment of The Day involves our first issue with Jazz Chisholm's name. The honor belongs to Marco Balletti. In the final segment of the day, Gio received an update from Frank the Tank's producer and friend. He says “vibes are not great”. We have updates on candidates to replace Eddie. Dov Kramer has taken himself out of the mix but Pete Bellotti, who worked here for many years and is still with the company, wants the job.

I'm honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with OLIPOP soda? Please go to www.drinkolipop.com, use promo code JAYREELZ for 15% off of your purchase. Good to be home, although I was feeling blue on Friday, I'll unpack that and everything that's taking place in the world of sports. On deck: (2:53) Back in the New York groove at the home studio as opposed to the lovely back drop of palm trees and greenery of Florida. I'll deliver some details of my trip to Florida at the end of the podcast. (3:21) I have to mention the good folks at OLIPOP. Please see promo above. (5:17) Baseball's trade deadline is tomorrow at 6pm. Teams are searching for reinforcements in order to qualify for postseason play. There have already been some big moves to date (Phillies get closer Carlos Estevez & OF Austin Hays. Yankees acquire Jazz Chisholm. Orioles obtain Zac Eflin, Siranthony Dominguez & Cristian Pache. Mariners trade for Randy Arozarena and the Mets pickup Ryne Stanek and Jesse Winker) What other key players are still out there for the taking? Will other teams get involved in any last minute transactions? I'll take a peek at the latest in the division and wild card races as the dog days of August are almost here. (37:13) It must be nice to be a quarterback in the NFL. Two more guys get signed to enormous contract. Dolphins signed Tua Tagovailoa to the richest contract in the history of the franchise. While the Packers get Jordan Love to sign on the dotted line. Was this too much money for a QB that's been injured with concussions in the past? Or a guy that only has one year of starting experience? It's an interesting commentary on the state and market of what the cost of the QB is in 2024? (44:30) TNT is looking to get back into the new media deal signed by the NBA where the network was left out. Warner Bros./Turner Media certainly has something to say about it as they may take this to court as they felt they were grossly misinterpreted of their contractual rights. How will this play out when it's all said and done? (47:37) One major signing in the NHL wasn't much of a surprise. The Flyers and Travis Konecny have agreed to an eight year deal. (48:34) I have a few interesting takeaways from the first two days of the Summer Olympics in Paris. How hurt is Simone Biles's leg? Will anyone care about Novak Djokovic vs. Rafael Nadal? US Men's Basketball Team rolls over Serbia, but how come Jayson Tatum didn't play? Will NBA Rookie of the Year and France's own Victor Wembanyama carry them deep into a medal game performance? (55:10) Always transparent and accountable as I missed out on Saturday's latest UFC matchup. (56:23) I wrap up with sharing the rest of my trip to Florida, this time in Miami, which brought me home feeling a certain type of way.
