The Los Angeles Angels have the potential to sign an electric starter to a long-term deal in Yoshinobu Yamamoto, but will they do what it takes to get it done? Mike and Jon share why the Halos should strongly consider adding Yamamoto, who could ensure a frontline starter for 8-10 years, but they aren't confident that the Angels will do so. Would adding Shohei Ohtani incentivize Yamamoto to want to come to Anaheim? The Super Halo Bros. explore the idea as well as a few of the other names the Angels are tied to via the trade market, and we'll cover it all in segment 1!Then, the Angels have added a few more pieces to the bullpen, two arms in Luis Garcia and Adam Cimber that add some variety to their relief staff. We'll give you a breakdown of these two, and we'll discuss how the Angels need to do much more to make this bullpen strong for 2024.Plus, the Halos got some additional pieces from the minor league Rule 5 Draft as well as some minor-league depth in Willie Calhoun and Travis MacGregor. FaZe ZooMaa, Ben, Aches, Parasite, and special guest Willie Calhoun go over the Call of Duty League Roster Drama!
The New York Yankees beat the Seattle Mariners, 10-4, on Monday night thanks to an offensive explosion led by Aaron Judge, Willie Calhoun, and Jake Bauers. Yep. Judge was doing Judge things, hitting two home runs, nearly hitting a third, and robbing Teoscar Hernandez of one late in the game. Jake Bauers had himself a good night hitting two doubles, and Harrison Bader hurt his hamstring, legging out a single in the third inning. He's getting an MRI on Tuesday. Domingo German pitched okay in his first outing back from his 10-game suspension for a foreign substance violation. Ron Marinaccio came into the game in a big spot and got two big outs to end a Seattle scoring threat, and Albert Abreu pitched two scoreless innings. Josh Donaldson and Giancarlo Stanton will be in Somerset together this week (Scranton is on the road). Tommy Kahnle is also there, and Jose Trevino will be back in the Yankees lineup as soon as Tuesday. Oh, and Carlos Rodon is itching to pitch against actual humans again. Will it happen? He thinks so. Plus, we preview the second game of the series in Seattle: Nestor Cortes vs Logan Gilbert. The Yankees took two games from the Guardians in the Bronx this week, but it doesn't feel like it. At 17-15, this team is in last place. Their manager makes questionable decisions that have zero to do with winning and their general manager is blaming injuries again. Hey, Willie Calhoun is hitting? Kind of? We talk a little about the series, go over some hot Yankees, rant some more on the organization, and more. Hour 1: Max Scherzer had a terrible outing yesterday and Gio called his signing with the Mets a complete ‘bust' as of right now. This is reminding Boomer of Patrick Kane and the Rangers. Boomer said we have seen this before, where a great player comes to NY and ‘craps the bed'. It's also May 4th, so may the 4th be with you. Brian Cashman also came out and blamed injuries for the Yankees poor start. Boomer & Gio are going fishing today before our flag football game in NJ. Jerry is here for his first update and starts with the Yankees beating the Guardians in the 10th inning with a Jose Trevino walk off hit. Willie Calhoun hit another HR and John Sterling changed it to Boomer's suggestion, ‘Calhoun hits one to the moon'. Jake Bauers also hit a HR and we got another new HR call. Jerry has audio from Brian Cashman who met the media. ‘Don't give up on us'. Buck Showalter talked about Max Scherzer being rusty since he hadn't pitched in a while. San Francisco Giants pitcher Logan Webb said his team has the s***s since coming back from Mexico. The Devils lost game 1 to the Hurricanes. Akira Shmid was pulled after giving up 3 goals. We heard from Gerard Gallant who talked about having to answer questions about getting fired. Jets players talked to the media about seeing Aaron Rodgers in a Jets uniform and having him as a teammate. The Celtics beat the Sixers in game 2. In the final segment of the hour, we have our flag football charity game tonight in NJ. Hour 2: Craig Carton has been talking about a softball game for June but Boomer already has a commitment and we are all in an awkward situation right now. None of us want to play softball. We have not played softball in 4 years because nobody except Boomer wants to play. Tampa Rays shortstop Wander Franco hot dogged a throw to first and some people think it was disrespectful. Jerry returns for an update but first we talked more about this softball game with Carton and how Jerry really did commit to it. The Five Borough Bike Tour is this Saturday and Gio is actually pumped for it. Willie Calhoun hit another HR as the Yankees beat the Guardians. The Devils gave up 5 goals and lost game 1 to the Hurricanes. Sauce Gardner talked about the vibe at practice now that Aaron Rodgers is there. In the final segment of the hour, Brian Cashman talked to the media and asked them not to give up on the Yankees. Boomer said the L.A. Angels told the media they can't ask any negative questions. Hour 3: The Knicks are getting tons of requests from celebrities and have to turn some of them down. Gio said that sounds like an awesome job. Does Jerry Ferrara still deserve to get free tickets? Would Matt Martin be able to get into a Knicks game as a celebrity? A caller said to be careful about sea lice on the striper fish. Jerry returns for an update but first we talked about Cialis and testosterone. The Yankees beat the Guardians behind a Willie Calhoun HR. Max Scherzer talked about his poor performance yesterday and seemed to have excuses. Patrick Kane met the media and was asked if he wants to be back with the Rangers. In the final segment of the hour, Big Zoo & Anthony Gallo will host the overnight show tonight. Gallo comes in to talk about his big opportunity. Hour 4: Max Scherzer was bad again coming back from his suspension. We talked about the Mets starting pitching and how it has been underwhelming from what we were expecting. We also talked about the Yankees upcoming series against the Rays in Tampa, where the Yankees always seem to have trouble. Jerry returns for an update but first we look at the weather for today for fishing and flag football. Looks like rain. Al is having a hard time finding out what kind of jeans Bruce Springsteen is wearing. We also talked about how slim fit jeans are now baggy. Max Scherzer had another bad outing. Gerard Gallant can't believe he has to answer questions about potentially being fired. In the final segment of the show, we talked about Mintzy from Barstool being fired for reading lyrics of a rap song that included a racial slur. Dave Portnoy didn't think he should have been fired. Neither do Boomer or Gio.

The New York Yankees won a series after losing three straight thanks to a 4-3 win over the Cleveland Guardians in 10 innings. But of course, because it's the Yankees, there were injuries and weirdness during the game and the action really didn't get started for the Yanks until later in the game. The hitting hero of the night—aside from the walk-off hero Jose Trevino—was WIllie Calhoun who hit his second homer as a Yankee to put them on the board and the game-tying single in the ninth. Jake Bauers also hit a home run, his first since 2021. We discuss how it may be a bad thing for the Yankees to have so many injuries but it gives guys like Bauers, Calhoun and reliever Ian Hamilton a chance to shine. Try to look at the positives! We also discuss the return of Harrison Bader and what he means to the team. He was injured and had to leave the game on Wendesday night but it looks like he might be okay. And finally, Gerrit Cole won AL Pitcher of Month, of course, because he's been pitching out of his mind so far in 2023. Jose Trevino's walk-off single ended the NYY series losing streak. Aaron Boone's (over)use of Clay Holmes nearly cost them the series victory. New York's #2 Sports Show is an Influencer Audio production Music provided by Stephen Dillaro: https://soundcloud.com/stephendillaro
Hour 1: The Knicks beat the Heat to even the series 1-1. Boomer thought they showed a lot of effort and Gio said a number of calls went the Knicks way. The NBA really needs this series to go seven games. It was an old school slugfest last night and contested completely throughout the game. Gio thinks if Jimmy Butler played last night that could have meant a Heat win. Aaron Rodgers was back at MSG last night, front row for Knicks/Heat. The Knicks showed Carmelo Anthony on the screen with ‘Knicks Legend' under his name. Boomer said that would be like him being called a ‘Jets Legend'. Jerry is here for his first update and starts with sounds from the Knicks win over the Heat last night. The great Ian Eagle was on the call. Tom Thibodeau loved the overall effort. The Lakers took game 1 from the Warriors and talked ‘load management' after the game. Joel Embiid won the MVP and said he was motivated by the guys on TNT saying he had to be dominant. The Yankees beat the Guardians behind a Willie Calhoun HR and Jerry has John Sterling's HR call. Not great. Max Scherzer talked about getting Justin Verlander back and being back himself. Aaron Rodgers was on with Pat McAfee and talked about getting a nice ovation at MSG. In the final segment of the hour, the Jets will not be picking up the fifth year option on Mekhi Becton. Boomer said he should be one of the guys that gains the most by playing with Aaron Rodgers. A caller didn't think Joel Embiid deserved the MVP award. Hour 2: The Knicks beat the Heat last night and Gio gives a lot of credit to the additions the team added this season. We are reminded of the Knicks/Heat from the 90's. Physical basketball and the referees are letting them play. A caller wants to know if Boomer watched any NHL playoff games last night. He watched Stars/Kraken. Boomer is sick of the timeouts in NBA games as it slows the game down too much. The Knicks were desperate and had to win the game, especially with no Jimmy Butler. A caller wants Derrick Rose to play more, but Gio said he's old. Jerry returns for an update but first Boomer is just hearing that people from the 11th floor are coming to our 10th floor and pooping in our bathrooms. Gio said his dog does large poops. Jerry has audio from fans outside of MSG chanting after their win over the Heat. The Phillies have a Dick Allen bobblehead night and the promotional commercial did not go so smoothly. Aaron Rodgers was on with Pat McAfee and talked about having fun going to the Garden and meeting celebrities. In the final segment of the hour, ‘Knicks Legend' Carmelo Anthony was at the Garden last night and got a nice ovation. Gio wonders why he looks back on the Melo era as not so great so why do the fans seem to adore him? Hour 3: We continued our talk on Carmelo Anthony and if he's really a ‘Knicks Legend' as was put up on the screen. Is it fair to compare him to the Knicks greats like Clyde Frazier and John Starks? Callers explain why fans like Melo and consider him a Knicks legend. Gio is still not convinced. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the Knicks win over the Heat and the great game Jalen Brunson had. Dillon Brooks is a free agent, lets get him here, makes a ton of sense. The Yankees beat the Guardians with HRs by Anthony Volpe and Willie Calhoun. Justin Verlander will pitch tomorrow for the first time as a Met and he's pumped. Aaron Rodgers was on with Pat McAfee and seems to be enjoying getting used to being in a new place with a new team. In the final segment of the hour, Gio tells a story of his friends running into Ed Sheeran at a bar in NYC. He did not tip the bartender at all. We talked about Ed Sheeran being sued by Marvin Gaye so we played the two songs to see if they sound the same. Breaking News: Randall Cobb is signing with the Jets. Hour 4: We talked about the NFL schedule and the potential for a Giants/Jets game on Monday night 9/11. We talked more about Carmelo Anthony as a ‘Knicks Legend'. Jerry returns for an update but first we have audio of Sal Licata saying he's not playing flag football for charity. Jerry starts with audio from Ian Eagle from last night's Knicks win at the Garden. Tom Thibodeau loved the effort from his team. Willie Calhoun hit his first HR as a Yankee as they beat the Guardians. Aaron Rodgers was on with Pat McAfee to talk about his first week with the Jets. He said it's been a ‘blast'. Jessica Alba was at the Knicks game and Gio said she has the best looking shoulder. In the final segment of the show, we think the opening game of the season will be Chiefs/Bengals on Thursday night. A caller said Suffolk County is desperate for officials for high school football games.

After dropping the first two games, the Yankees were able to salvage the series with a blowout victory on Wednesday. Overall, the bats are in a tough spot. We discuss the problems with the offense like Franchy Cordero and Willie Calhoun, the sustainability, the Yankees' front office complacency, and also some positives like Judge, Torres, and Volpe. I also get annoyed at the whole "win series" thing, and give some thoughts on the Yankee starters this series. NYY-NYK-MMA Question of the Day: True or False? Hour 4: Aaron Rodgers...has a blue check mark, does this bother Craig? Is Willie Calhoun a real player...Craig is not so sure. And the challenge has been sent to the morning show for a little charity softball game.
If this past weekend of Yankees baseball seemed particularly annoying, it's because it was annoying. Andrew and Kunj are back at it with this week's episode of Podument Park where they discuss a .500 week of baseball for the Bronx “In Name Only” Bombers. The team was eventually going to lose a series, and got that first one out of the way after starting 2023 with five series wins and one series tie. Losing the weekend series against the Blue Jays wasn't the big issue, though, as the hosts discuss. The offense looking largely lifeless and problems from years past rearing its ugly head put a damper on the whole week. It's not all bad though, as the pitching has been a rock and even the weaker spots in the rotation have looked better recently! Also discussed are Oswald Peraza getting a proper look at third base, DJ and The Tonys (Rizzo and Volpe) finding success, and Harrison Bader hopefully returning soon and what that means for Willie Calhoun's storied Yankees tenure. As always the pod ends with a look at Baseball Reference's WAR leaderboard, and handing out of awards for this week's Yankee and Manfred of the Week. Spoiler: Finding a Yankee of the Week was a bit of a struggle. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
The journey to get there wasn't exactly smooth sailing, but the Yankees had a winning week against the Guardians and Twins, recovering from a series-opening loss in Cleveland to win two in a row before doing the same after two irritating losses to Minnesota. That wasn't a series win, but New York will gladly take the split. Andrew and Kunj revel in the pitching mastery of Gerrit Cole (and Nestor Cortes, too!) while bemoaning the latest malady to befall Giancarlo Stanton. Despite his hot start, a strained hamstring will keep him out of action for at least a month. Josh Donaldson is supposed to return to the Yankees on Wednesday, but the co-hosts are not exactly not looking forward to the embattled third baseman's return. They talk about a possible general infield platoon situation with the recalled Oswald Peraza, though it feels likely that the Yankees will just demote him instead of cutting ties with the struggling Willie Calhoun. All that is discussed as well as injury updates, Clay Holmes' topsy-turvy week, Anthony Volpe's kleptomania (and first career homer), the B-Ref Top 12 check-in, and the Yankee/Manfred of the Week. Locked On Giants – Daily Podcast On The San Francisco Giants
San Francisco Giants reliever Zack Littell was out of line. Littell allowed four of the five hitters he faced to reach base, yet somehow he had the nerve to give Giants manager Gabe Kapler a hard time about taking him out of an existing inning. It was absolutely the right decision for Kapler and the Giants to remove Littell in favor of Scott Alexander, a lefty who's been good against Matt Olson, one of the game's best left-handed hitters, with the tying run on third in the eighth. Littell said after the game that he was wrong and that he apologized to the SF Giants' skipper. He was, indeed, out of line, and it was nice to see how the Giants manager handled the situation. He took Littell into the tunnel immediately after returning to the dugout and gave him a good old fashioned talking to. The Giants went on to win the game against the defending champion Atlanta Braves. More details on Wilmer Flores' contract extension with the Giants are discussed. It's actually three years, $16.5 million guaranteed, although the third year is a $3.5 million player option. If Flores declines his option, the Giants hold an $8.5 million club option, which could bring the value of the deal up to 3/$21.5 million. It's a solid deal for both sides. Right-handed flamethrower Cole Waites was added to the roster and could be a big part of the Giants' bullpen moving forward. He didn't make his debut last night, but expect it sometime in this series. Willie Calhoun, acquired earlier in the season for Steven Duggar, was also activated and had an impressive first plate appearance with his childhood team, as he drove in the Giants' first run with a single off the right-field wall. The San Francisco Giants and Texas Rangers swung a trade today. The Giants have acquired left-handed OF/DH Willie Calhoun in exchange for Steven Duggar. Duggar was on a rehab assignment in Sacramento, and a move needed to be made to activate him. This would've meant adding him back to the 40-man roster, so a corresponding move would have been needed. Rather than DFA someone just to add back a guy who wasn't in the SF Giants' immediate, or possibly long-term, plans, they made this trade for the intriguing Calhoun. Calhoun was a former top prospect, and he was the centerpiece in the Yu Dardish trade in 2017. Giants President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi was the Dodgers' general manager at the time, so he's very familiar with Calhoun. SF Giants manager Gabe Kapler, likewise, was the Dodgers' farm director. Both think highly of Calhoun, who's never been able to put it all together despite having a very intriguing skillset at the plate. Calhoun makes a ton of contact, doesn't strike out, and makes good swing decisions. He isn't on the Rangers' 40-man roster after he cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment to the minors earlier this year. Also in the last couple of days, the Giants played some tough games in Atlanta. They ended up losing three out of four to the Braves, despite the series' run differential being just +1 in favor of Atlanta. It was a bit of a bad break for the Giants, who were one shutdown inning on Wednesday and one more big hit on Thursday away from at least splitting this series. Instead, it's a disappointing loss and a long cross-country flight. On the bright side, the Giants will welcome in three below-.500 teams to San Francisco for this upcoming homestand, which includes two off days at home.
