Fantasy Baseball Live – June 7, 2026 – 3 pm ETSegments 1 and 2 – Review of the weekend gamesAdditional Notes:1.Tanner Bibee with a great game on Saturday. They announced on the game that he was the least supported starter in baseball this season.2.Imai with another good start on Saturday – 5 IP, 5 hits, 2 ER, 8K/3BB. That's three in a row, including the no-hitter.a.Is he turning the corner?3.Sure it was the Angels, but Roki Sasaki looked great on Friday. 7 IP, 2 hits, 0 ER, 10K/2BB. He's been particularly good over his past four starts.a.Has he turned things around?b.Who would you rather have the rest of the Season – Imai or Sasaki?4.Royce Lewis is back in the Majors. I wrote last week that he was red hot and would likely see a return. Here's what I wrote.a.What are you thoughts on his return?Royce Lewis is making a loud statement for a return to Minnesota. In 13 games, he's hit 10 home runs and posted a .358 average. More importantly, his average exit velocity sits at 94.1 mph — a massive improvement over the woeful 87.9 mph he produced earlier with the Twins. He's still expanding the strike zone a ton, so the approach hasn't really changed. So why is he performing better? Some of it is BABIP correction, but only to a point. His .250 mark in Triple-A is better than the .215 he ran in Minnesota, yet still well below league norms. The real driver is simple: he's hitting the ball much harder. The caveat, of course, is that it's a tiny sample, and when you hit 10 home runs in 13 games, your EV is going to look inflated.Looking deeper, he's become a dead-pull hitter, and his long injury history has likely contributed to a gradual decline in exit velocity over the years. Will the EV fully return? Maybe. But can he stay healthy long enough for that to matter? My best guess is that he normalizes around 89–90 mph. With his leveraged swing, that still makes him a 20-homer bat. Given the aggressive approach, a modest batting average — something around .250 — feels realistic.I do think he'll return as a viable MLB player, but the superstar trajectory he once flashed doesn't look attainable anymore. At the same time, he wasn't as bad as he looked in April and May with Minnesota. The encouraging news is that he's hot, he's motivated, and he's forcing the issue. If the Twins wanted to see a spark before bringing him back, they're getting it. They'll surely say he “made an adjustment,” and maybe he did, but with samples this small, it's nearly impossible to prove through the data.5.Bryce Miller has been money since returning from the IL – 1.33 ERA, 29K/5BB in 29 innings.6.Zebby wins again on Friday. Is he an every time starter now or are you holding your breath every time out?a.Order these pitchers the rest of the season – Gage Jump, Zebby, David Sandlin, Christian Scott7.We crushed Matt Chapman on Friday and that night he went 2 for 3 with 8 RBIs – a grand slam and a three-run home run.a.Fantasy managers – You're welcome!Segment 3 – Waiver WireSegment 4 – Closer ReportClose
Looking for the absolute best fantasy baseball waiver wire advice, the latest fantasy baseball trade targets, and updated fantasy baseball rankings? We break down why Jarren Duran is highlighting our latest rankings risers, analyze the underlying metrics making Jackson Chourio an elite buy-low trade target, and pinpoint exactly who you need to target before your league mates catch on. Week 11 Market Analytics & Player Teardowns The fantasy baseball landscape is shifting rapidly as we head into Week 11, requiring managers to separate real skill growth from temporary statistical anomalies. A prime example is Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran, who highlights our latest rankings risers due to underlying pace metrics that suggest a potential 30-30 campaign. Despite an elevated 29% strikeout rate, Duran has locked down the everyday leadoff spot, making his volume-heavy profile incredibly valuable. When evaluating risers like Duran or Bryan Reynolds, analyzing baseline shifts rather than riding unsustainable BABIP waves is essential to sustaining success. The trade market presents distinct buy-low windows that demand immediate action. Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio remains an elite buy-low target; his underlying barrel rates and hard-hit metrics have been teasing a massive breakout, and his recent multi-homer explosion during the series sweep shows that the acquisition window is closing incredibly fast. Similarly, Oakland's Tyler Soderstrom is showing immense growth, dropping his strikeout rate from a concerning 30% down to a highly manageable 18%. Combined with a rising launch angle at a highly favorable Sutter Health Park hitting environment, his bat is primed for a massive second-half surge. On the flip side, identifying optimal sell-high timelines is just as crucial for long-term roster construction. Christian Yelich continues to provide solid surface counting stats, but his underlying metrics paint an incredibly alarming picture. Yelich's launch angle sits at a low two degrees, paired with a meager 6% barrel rate and a career-worst average exit velocity of 88 mph. With his strikeout rate jumping nearly 30% alongside chronic back discomfort, savvy managers should trade the veteran asset now to maximize return value before rest-of-season regression fully hits. Conversely, pitching depth remains highly volatile, as highlighted by the dramatic roster shifts across standard leagues. For those looking to fill open roster spots, looking toward efficient arms like Detroit's Troy Melton or checking the underlying predictive metrics of high-upside young arms like Chase Burns provides a strategic roadmap for stabilizing team ERAs and WHIPs without burning waiver priority on low-floor assets. Fantasy Baseball Live! – May 24, 2026Segments 1 and 2 – Review the weekend gamesAdditional Notes:1.With the struggles of Steven Kwan this season, Travis Bazzana has been moved to the leadoff spot.a.What is your assessment of him so far this season?b.When do we pull the trigger on Steven Kwan and throw him on the waiver wire – he's hitting .199 with 1 home run and 2 SB. Granted, he also has a .224 BABIP, so I would expect a correction. But the xERA is still only .223. Yikes!2.Kevin Alcantara is getting another shot. He can't hit, but there is speed and power. Your thoughts.a.BTW, quietly Spencer Jones was demoted last week. The fanfare of a demotion is never the same as that of a promotion.3.So it's not Franklin Arias at shortstop, the Red Sox are turning to Marcelo Mayer and his .216 batting average and .286 OBP. a.I really missed on this one. The bat speed is clearly there – ranking in the top quartile of the leagues, but his 87 mph EV and 9% of loft is making him an easy out. Makes great contact, it's just weak.i.Your thoughts?4.Gerrit Cole returned and the velo was spot on. The swing miss of his secondary stuff was not quite there but overall he looked good.a.Your thoughts?5.Cristopher Sanchez has pitched 37.2 of scoreless innings. How is that possible? He's also pitching extremely deep into games. Just dominant.6.Jonah Tong quietly got the call but it appears he will pitch out of the bullpen.a.Any interest?7.Taj Bradley is back, touching 100 mph and shoving it. On Saturday, he pitched 5 innings of one run ball, striking out 7.8.Zack Wheeler has been dominant since returning from TOS. I thought pitchers didn't come back very well from that? Is it time to panic on Jackson Merrill after a brutal slide in the rankings, or is this the ultimate window to buy low on a superstar like Freddie Freeman? We are breaking down the critical fantasy baseball waiver wire moves and rankings shifts you need to make right now. From the data behind Travis Bazzana's rise to the metrics causing concern for Fernando Tatis Jr., we have the analytical edge to keep you ahead of your league. On this episode of The F6P Hour, AJ, Joe, and Corey discuss the absolute must-add talents and the toxic trends forcing managers into difficult roster choices. The crew evaluates the actual panic meter for sliding superstars and uncovers under-the-radar waiver wire targets to salvage your offensive depth. They also explore the optimal windows to buy low on struggling high-end studs before their market price rockets back up. The Gunnar Henderson Slide: Why the elite shortstop is tumbling down Joe's rankings and whether the underlying Statcast metrics hint at a quick turnaround. Prospects on the Move: Deep dives into Travis Bazzana, Carson Benge, and high-upside arms like Jacob Misiorowski and Trey Yesavage. Premium Buy-Low Windows: Why underperforming elite assets like Freddie Freeman and Manny Machado are screaming trade targets right now according to Corey. Waiver Wire Realities: Navigating a messy injury week and identifying if J.T. Ginn or Gabriel Moreno can save your roster depth. As the fantasy baseball calendar hits Week 9, savvy managers must separate noise from actual signal. A primary example is the red-hot surge of Cincinnati Reds outfielder JJ Bleday. While he might not have the volume to fully qualify for standard Statcast leaderboards yet, adjusting the parameters to a 50 at-bat minimum reveals an elite expected slugging percentage of .579, ranking him comfortably inside the top 10 league-wide. Combined with a robust 14% barrel rate and an expected batting average north of .300, Bleday is a priority addition across all formats, especially given the hitter-friendly environment of Great American Ball Park. Conversely, the evaluation of veterans like Alec Bohm requires a balanced perspective. Bohm has been a stabilizer over an 11-game hitting streak, flashing an empty average that boosts standard categories but masks his historical profile as a secondary power source. While he remains a highly usable asset across corner infield positions, his fantasy value leans heavily on counting stats in a potent Philadelphia offense rather than underlying Statcast metrics suggesting an imminent home run explosion. Meanwhile, the catcher landscape has drastically thinned due to structural injuries to primary tier options, vaulting Gabriel Moreno back into relevant consideration as a high-floor, volume-based streaming plug-in despite capped ceiling metrics. On the flip side of value preservation, the pitching market presents high-risk choices. Oakland's J.T. Ginn commands attention after carrying a no-hitter into the ninth inning, flashing an upgraded pitch-mix and an attractive 2.85 SIERA over his recent stretch. However, his volatility mirrors the broader market where names like Foster Griffin demonstrate how quickly an ERA can balloon when sequencing and park factors regress. For managers executing long-term trade strategies, targeting foundational players like Freddie Freeman and Manny Machado during temporary statistical slumps represents the gold standard of roster optimization, buying into proven career baselines before their BABIP stabilizes. The Cardinals are 28-19 and there's a shirtless movement happening in right field. Tarps off started as one row of guys on a Friday night, expanded to the entire section by the weekend, and now the Cardinals have officially designated it as a high-energy zone. We dig into what it means, how long it can last, and whether two guys who have admittedly aged out of the tarps off crew can still appreciate it from a distance.Nolan Gorman is having an MVP-level May. His expected wOBA in May is .427, he's leading the team in exit velocity and barrels, and his defense at third has quietly become solid. We talk about whether this version of Gorman is different from the streaks we've seen before, and what it means if the Cardinals actually have their third baseman locked in.Matthew Liberatore had 14 strikeouts over two starts and a 7.45 ERA. That gap between his stuff and his results is the Liberatore experience in a nutshell, and a .536 BABIP might be the explanation. We talk about whether this is just bad luck or the continuation of a real pattern.Plus: Matt Pushard is back with a completely different pitch mix, George Soriano's changeup is reaching Devin Williams territory, Victor Scott's role as a designated speed guy, Lars Nootbaar's rehab is going well, Jimmy Crooks keeps mashing, Nelson Velazquez is dominating Triple-A, Chaim Bloom dropped hints about taking on salary at the deadline, and Busch Stadium officially announced the tarps off section. On the league side: Colt Emerson gets called up and homers in his first game, Pete Crow-Armstrong gets fined for yelling at a White Sox fan, and the Phillies are 16-5 since firing Rob Thomson.Have a question or comment for the show? Is it time to pull the plug on Luis Castillo? The F6P crew debates the brutal "Rage Drop" of the week and why superstar names like Gunnar Henderson are causing a unique triple-threat paradox in fantasy circles. On this episode of The Fantasy Six Pack Hour, AJ Applegarth, Joe Bond, and Corey Pieper break down the Week 7 landscape using advanced metrics to separate the outliers from the legitimate shifts in value. In this episode, we discuss: The Gunnar Henderson Paradox: Why AJ considers him a "homer" drop while Corey views him as a premier buy-low target due to his 30-home run pace despite a sub-.200 average. Statcast Risers: How Matt Olson and Byron Buxton are overcoming cold starts to climb back into elite ranking territory. The "Rage Drop" Reality: Why Luis Castillo is being cut after a performance defined by high pitch counts and a lack of consistent results. Buy Low/Sell High: Why Brandon Nimmo's underlying metrics make him a must-acquire target, and why Randy Arozarena's shift to a high ground-ball rate is a massive red flag. Inside the Analysis: Week 7 Deep Dive The Week 7 landscape is defined by "superstar struggles." The crew dives into the perplexing case of Fernando Tatis Jr., who maintains an elite hard-hit rate but is suffering from a 2-degree launch angle, causing him to pound contact directly into the dirt. This lack of "lift" is a recurring theme for several early-round picks who are currently underperforming their expected stats. On the pitching side, the show explores the surge of Michael McGreevy and Cameron Schlittler. While McGreevy has been dominant for the Cardinals, Joe warns that maintaining his current ERA may be difficult depending on upcoming matchups. Meanwhile, Corey makes a strong case for Jesus Luzardo as a top-15 pitcher profile that is currently being undervalued because of a low left-on-base percentage rather than a lack of "stuff". Finally, the Riley Greene and Robbie Ray "Sell High" windows are examined. With Greene sporting an unsustainable .552 BABIP over the last month, the crew agrees that cashing in on his current .325 average is the optimal move before regression hits. The Approach Angle Nate Schwartz (@_nateschwartz) and Kyle Bland (@blandalytics) are joined by Carson Picard to talk about BABIP and why it's more than just luck. They start by discussing what BABIP actually is: getting into the original idea and what it specifically measures. Then, they talk about why using BABIP as "just a luck stat" leaves a lot of information on the table. They also talk about why BABIP has been steadily declining since the mid-2000s. The discussion transitions to talking about Carson's set of articles, covering both hitter and pitcher BABIP. Starting with pitcher BABIP, they cover both the internal and external factors that drive a pitcher's BABIP. The hitter conversation centers on which stats correlate best with BABIP and how Under% drives the storytelling. Finally, they conclude by talking about hitters with different 2026 profiles. Fantasy Baseball Live – February 8, 2026 @ 1 pm ETSegment 1 – News and Notes1.The Reds sign Eugenio Suarez for a one-year, $15 million contract. He mostly played third base last season, but with future HOFer Ke'Bryan Hayes there, I guess he'll be the full-time DH.a.Thoughts?b.In looking at their lineup, Spencer Steer or Sal Stewart is going to lose playing time. Steer is 28 and is one year removed from a 20-20 season, but with serious concerns about how much he'll hit, and Sal Stewart is a rookie, although he looked great in his debut last season. How does this shake out?2.The Red Sox sign Isiah Kiner-Falefa to a one-year, $6 million contract. Is this just depth or is this a message that Marcelo Mayer needs to hit?a.What happened to Kristian Campbell?3.The Padres sign Miguel Andujar for $1.5 million, and in looking at their roster. Is he going to get enough at-bats at DH to make him a sneaky late-round grab? He's an afterthought in drafts at an ADP of 601.4.The Yankees re-sign Paul Goldschmidt, and in reading details of the signing, the Yankees were not the only suitor. He's far from the player he was, but should I be worried that he could steal at-bats away from Ben Rice?a.If so, do you discount Rice at the draft table?5.Finally, the Tigers had an eventful and expensive week. First they lost their arbitration hearing with Skubal, which cost of them $32 million and they signed Framber Valdez to a big three-year deal.a.I guess if there were worries about them moving Skubal, that appears to be unlikely. Thoughts on Tigers this season?Segment 2 – Fantasy Questions of the AL WestThe Athletics1.Denzel Clarke looks like he will get the first shot at center field. Do you like Clarke or Colby Thomas to get the bulk of the at-bats?a.Does it even matter?2.Outside of Nick Kurtz, which two Athletics are you most interested in rostering?3.We now have data on the first year at Sutter Park in Sacremento and it ranked as the second best ballpark to hit in after Coors Field.a.Luis Severino had a 3.02 ERA away from Sutter and a whopping 6.01 ERA at home. I grabbed him in the 31st round of my NFBC Draft Champions League and was going to do the Home/Away game. Dumb idea?b.The ballpark factor does not bode well for young rookies like Luis Morales and Gage Jump. Thoughts?4.Who gets the saves for A's?5.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)Houston Astros1.After a great spring training, Cam Smith wasn't very good. In 134 games, he hit nine home runs and stole eight bases while hitting .236. In Spring Training, he hit .342 with four home runs and 15 games. a.Is this a reminder to ignore spring training stats?b.Also, do you see 2026 as a growth year for Smith? If so, could he become a 15+ home run guy with 10+ stolen bases?2.Yordan Alvarez – Over/Under 400 at-bats?3.Stat line for Tatsuya Imai – IP, K's, ERA and wins – 165, 180K, 3.50 ERA, 10 wins4.Christian Javier was a horse, and then 2024 came, and he had TJS. He struggled in his returns, but the fastball was back and the change-up was as good as ever. He doesn't throw particularly hard, but his xERA was 3.36 last season.a.Any interest?5.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)Los Angeles Angels1.Nolan Schanuel – Over/Under 15 home runs?a.Everyone thought he would hit, and while he makes great contact, his low hard-hit rate drives his BABIP down, and he hit .264 with a .263 xBA. How can you start this guy at first base?2.After Zach Neto and Jo Adel, give me two players you are interested in drafting from the Angels and why.3.Reid Detmers' stat line for 2026 – IP, Ks, ERAa.Detmers or Alek Manoah – who would you rather roster?4.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)Seattle Mariners1.Cal Raleigh will hit closer to 40 home runs or 60 home runs in 2026.2.Dominic Canzone or Victor Robles – Who would you rather roster and why?3.Which one of Colt Emerson or Kade Anderson do we see in 2026? Or, do we see both?a.I know you're not a big Emerson fan, but I think he's going to be very good when he gets up – hint, I think we see him in the first half4.I can't think of a good pitching question – but, WOW, what a staff?5.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)Texas Rangers1.Wyatt Langford – 2026 stat line – HR, SB, Runs, RBIs, and BA2.It's hard to say that Evan Carter is a bust, but so far, he's been a disappointment. He's still going as a number five outfielder – pick #71. Are you going to be one of those managers?3.I don't believe we talked about Josh Jung much last season or even when we did your third base rankings. He actually was somewhat healthy last season – 131 games, but hit 14 home runs and a SLG of .390. What happened?a.Is he of interest to you in upcoming drafts?4.Are you ready to trust Jack Leiter?5.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)

Thoughts on him going into the season?4.Jordan Leasure is supposedly going to be the closer. Who is your next in line?5.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)Cleveland Guardians1.Roster Resource is showing George Valera and Chase DeLauter. Who has the best chance of staying there on opening day?2.Bo Naylor has not been very good. He did hit 14 home runs in 2025, but also hit .195. He did get a little unlucky with a .222 BABIP, but he hasn't hit the ball hard in the two previous seasons. Is there any hope here?a.He will be a ______________ catcher off the board? Fantasy Baseball Live – September 21, 2025 @ 2 pmMicrosoft Teams:ONE WEEK LEFT of the season!Segments 1 and 2 – Review of the weekend gamesAdditional Questions:1.The Tigers lose their fifth in a row and the Guardians are only one game back in the loss column. Who wins this?2.Sal Stewart has hit four home runs in his first 14 games. He never showed that level of power in the minor leagues, but I always had him projected with plus power. What are you expecting next season? Full-time guy?3.Nolan Jones hits the IL with an oblique strain and is done for the season. His big 2023 half-season is looking like an outlier as he finished the season with five home runs and a .211 BA as the strong side of a platoon. Any thoughts on him going forward?a.George Valera (remember him?) should get his at-bats and hit his first MLB home run on Saturday. Any interest?4.Clayton Kershaw calls it quits, and his next stop will be Cooperstown. Will he be a first-round HOF?5.Jac Cag hit a home run on Friday, his seventh in 56 games. What are the stats showing us on the Farm? How can AAA player be ready for the MLB action? We look at SO% and BB%, ISO and BABIP and try to make sense of the "advanced" stats that are readily available to us to determine what a player may or may not need to improve to be ready for the next level. There is a clearly something missing from the MiLB to the MLB.
Take 10 with Tim – April 25, 2025 – 9:30/8:30 amMicrosoft Teams Invite:1.Well, that didn't take long. After only 32 games in the minor leagues, the Athletics had seen enough and promoted Nick Kurtz to the Majors. He already has his first hit. How many more?a.Stat line for 2025: AB, HR, RBI, BAb.My buddy Agustin Ramirez finally got the call and promptly went 5 for 8 in his first two games. I think this guy hits and pop.i.Your thoughts?c.Surprisingly, the Rays promoted Chandler Simpson to the show and there was no word of a 8-year, $10 million contract that he signed.i.Over-under 40 stolen bases.d.Give me two or three of the next prospects you think will get the call?2.I read yesterday that Triston Casas is moving his hands around trying to find something that works as he's off to a brutal start to the season. He's had two home runs since the change. Just luck, or perhaps he found something?a.In looking at the data, his hard hit rates are about the same, and his strikeout rate is down. It might be that his .193 BABIP needs to be corrected.3.PCA appears to be breaking out as the power I discussed when he was a prospect appears to be emerging. The hard hit rates and exit velo are all solid-average.a.Stat line for 2025: HR, SB, and BA4.Let's take a look at the standings – just looking for surprise starts (both good and bad) and do you think they will stay that way.a.American Leagueb.National League5.We talked about rookies a lot because everyone knows Mookie Betts is good. Fantasy Baseball Live – February 9, 2025 @ 3 PM ETSegment 1 – News and Notes1.The Mets re-upped with Pete Alonso on a two-year deal. The league has learned its lesson from hulking First Base sluggers like Alonso, and consequently, it's become more challenging for them to land the big contract.a.Your thoughts on the deal. Are there any changes at all in where you draft him2.Phew. Jack Flaherty managers give a sigh of relief when he re-upped with the Tigers for a two-year deal that is front-loaded with an opt-out. So, assuming he doesn't get hurt, he'll likely opt out. a.Will he be more of the 2024 version on the 2022-23 pitcher? 3.The Angels were at it again, signing Yoan Moncada to a one-year, $5 million contract. a.This is why I'm so critical of the Angels. This is a dumb deal to me. He hasn't been able to stay healthy, and if it weren't for a .406-fueled 2019 season, where he hit 25 home runs and batted.315, I'm not sure anybody would be thinking about him. Not to lead the witness, but what do you think? Am I all wet?4.Well the Tirso Ornelas came crashing down when the Padres signed the power-couple duo of Jason Heyward and Connor Joe. Oh well. In his last full season in 2022, he was pretty good. His ADP is 365. Is he a sneaky add in a draft?d.Spencer Arrighetti pitched to a 5.63 ERA in the first half and a 3.18 in the second. His batting average against went from .268 to .226. Any interest. His ADP is 216.9e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)2.Los Angeles Angelsa.True or False. Mike Trout will win a World Series with the Angels before his career ends.i.Stat line for Trout: AB, HR, SB, BAb.Jo Adell's ADP is 290.89 and he's going as the 71st outfielder off the board. I studied the data, and while he stole 34 bases last season, he's not a burner with sprint speeds in the 63rd percentile. A .370 BABIP drove his .307 batting average, and given his poor exit velocity, I don't see that sticking or much power. Am I too low on Robles? I don't get the hype, as he's going as the 49th OF off the board. b.One of our Patreon members reminded me that we don't talk enough about Seattle's poor hit park factors (T-Mobile). It's last in the league. Should this give you pause at the draft table for guys like J-Rod, Raleigh, and Arozarena?c.Will Julio Rodriguez be drafted in the first round in 2026?d.Do you think the Mariners should trade one of their big starters for some offense? Fantasy Baseball Live – November 24, 2024Segment 1 – News and Notes1.We had a trade! The Royals traded Brady Singer to the Reds for Jonathan India and Joey Wiemer.a.Who does this free up for playing time in Cincinnati?b.Does Brady Singer's value go down moving to Cincinnati?c.Joey Weimer has alluring tools with plus speed and enough pop to suggest 15 to 20 home run pop. He's never been able to hit. Does he get a shot in Kansas City?2.The Nationals non-tender Kyle Finnegan, and he is now a free agent. I'm not sure I get this one. They couldn't trade him?a.Who do you like to get saves in Washington?3.The Rockies non-tender Brandon Rodgers. I guess this makes sense as he was due for a raise (estimated at $5.5 million), and let's face it, he's not that good, and there are plenty of options.a.Who do you think gets his playing time?4.Finally, the Blue Jays non-tender Jordan Romano. He was estimated to earn $8 million and it appears that the Jays didn't want to take the risk on whether he would return to form. Perhaps they don't like the medicals.a.Who do you like to get saves in Toronto?Segment 2 – Fantasy Questions of the NL East1.Atlanta Bravesa.Michael Harris went late in the second, early third round last year, which resulted in a 16/10 year and a batting average of .264. He seems to be getting better with age. What are the odds he gets close to his 39/104 with a .302 batting average in 2025?d.What did you think of the trade for Griffin Canning? He has pretty good stuff with a plus change-up and slider, but his fastball gets crushed (.529 SLG). Can the Braves perform magic again here?i.I wrote this before he got non-tendered. His ADP is 99, and he's the 7th third baseman off the board. Good value or too expensive?i.He has average bat speed but hits the ball extremely hard (80th percentile). Fred Zinkie and Jeff Erickson try to find 2024 comps to the 2023 First Half / Second Half heroes and bums. Who is this year's Julio Rodriguez Who will be the young slugger that figures it out, like Tristan Casas was last season? --- 00:00 - First Half / Second Half Podcast 01:30 - Who is this year's Tristan Casas? A young slugger who has a blah first half and then breaks out in second half. 02:10 - Micheal Busch. He was always powerful in the Minors (59 HR in 2022-23). Outside of May, has hit for average (albeit with a high BABIP). The power will play eventually. With the Cubs out of the race (kind of), he will play. 05:45 - Who will be this year's Julio Rodriguez? An underwhelming star who gets on track in the second half. 08:20 - Alternate - Pete Alonso. His HR/FB% is a career low. Average exit velocity if down, but only slightly. Warm weather, Mets hanging around in the race….I'll say that he hits more than 20 HR after the ASB. 14:45 - Who will be this year's Cal Raleigh? A catcher who becomes a game-changer by hitting for elite power in the second half. Mitch Garver. Has quietly his 6 homers since June 6. May not hit for average, but he producing plenty of fly balls. K rate and BB rate each improved a bit in June too. 19:15 - Who will be this year's CJ Abrams? A player who catches fire on the basepaths in the second half. 19:50 - Wyatt Langford. Ranks 11th in baseball in average sprint speed. Stole six bases in June. Rangers fall out of the race and let Langford learn to steal bases in the second half by running as much as he wants. 23:45 - Who will be this year's Alex Verdugo or Nolan Arenado? A veteran who falls apart in the second half. 25:45 - Cody Bellinger. I know his first half wasn't great, but Statcast suggests it should have been even worse. Cubs fall out of the race and he's unplayable in the second half. 33:40 - Who will be this year's Freddy Peralta? A skilled starter who underachieves in the first half and thrives in the second half. 34:15 - Pablo Lopez. Similar to Peralta, he pitches for a solid team and has great SO skills. Just needs some decent luck. 40:15 - Who will be this year's Lucas Giolito? A starter who is playable in the first half and destroys teams in the second half. 41:05 - Jose Berrios. This may be cheating, because it has already happened, but I'm not sure anyone has noticed. His season-long numbers (3.63 ERA, 1.12 WHIP) still say, “start me every week”. The Jays season is already over, and things will be ugly for starters like Berrios when they go with a full youth movement down the stretch. 44:40 - Andrew Abbott 46:45 - Who will be this year's Adbert Alzolay? A reliever who takes hold of the closer's role in the second half. 47:20 - Jeff Hoffman. Holy moly, this guy has been good this year. The Phillies went a long stretch without a save, and since that ended he has collected 3 of their 4 saves. He's their best reliever and could completely take the job from Jose Alvarado. Of course, they could trade for a closer. But they don't need to. 49:30 - Monday game recaps: Is Paul Sewald close to losing the closer's role? --- Home Run Forecast Home Run Forecast is offering a special for the start of the baseball season. Jeff Erickson and Fred Zinkie look at data from 2024 and identify bankable trends. Where are our category leaders coming from? Did we draft starting pitching too soon? --- 00:00 - Fred Pod 6-4 00:30 - Overall data from 2024 (as of the start of play this week) 01:30 - 4 of the top-20 pitchers in ERA were drafted in the top-100 07:00 - 12 of the 19 pitches with 75 SO were drafted in the top-100 09:00 - 6 top the top-15 pitchers in WHIP were drafted in the top-100 11:30 - There are so many starters who have are sitting on waivers in most leagues and have an ERA around 3.50 and a WHIP around 1.15 (Ryan Weathers, Jake Irvin, Trevor Williams, Kyle Gibson etc.). Bailey Falter was available on Sunday in most of my 15-team leagues. He has a WHIP under 1.00! 13:30 - Are big bids on pitchers like Christian Scott ill-considered? 16:45 - Trevor Williams on IL 21:00 - 10 of the top-13 hitters in homers were drafted in the top-100; 5 of the 11 hitters who are batting .300 were drafted in the top-100; 10 of the 12 hitters with 40 runs scored were drafted in the top-100; 9 of the 15 players with 40 RBIs were drafted in the top-100 28:00 - Were we drafting pitchers too early in this “everyone can pitch” landscape? 31:45 - One more observation, of the 22 qualified pitchers with an ERA under 3.00, 15 have fewer strikeouts than innings. In this season of low BABIP and low HR/FB rate, is getting whiffs less important in run prevention? 39:00 - Should owners in trading leagues try to correct this by dealing effective pitchers for effective hitters? 47:00 - Finally, am I correct in believing that the pitcher injury crises was overblown (once again) in April? 55:00 - Monday notes: Kyle Tucker is day-to-day but should be fine…..Blake Snell is on the IL again…..Noelvi Marte will soon start his rehab assignment…..Brandon Marsh to the IL…..Robert Gasser is dealing with an elbow injury…..Connor Norby debuted…..Tyler Anderson continues to defy the odds….Matt Waldron pitched well again…..The Reds scored 13 at Coors…..Nolan Gorman has hit 8 HR in 14 games…..Mark Vientos had another great game…..MacKenzie Gore burned owners in his two-start week…..Kevin Gausman continues to stink…..Austin Hays hit his first two homers of the season…. --- Sorare Promotional Copy Build a Collection. Locked On Giants – Daily Podcast On The San Francisco Giants
Teams playing the 2024 Dodgers basically have to play perfectly in order to win. In the San Francisco Giants' first game against the rival Dodgers this season, the Giants did not play perfectly and so they lost. The Giants stranded a ton of baserunners and were sorely lacking the big hit. The SF Giants' bullpen continued to struggle overall, with young players failing to establish themselves and even the likes or Tyler Rogers—ground ball and home run prevention machine—allowing a 430-foot three-run blast that broke the game open. The Giants are allowing over seven runs per game on average through five games this season. That's obviously way too many, and it's actually impressive that they've managed to go 2-3 despite allowing so many runs. What's startling is that SF Giants starters Logan Webb, Kyle Harrison, and Jordan Hicks combined to allow just four runs in 17 innings, while Keaton Winn added a respectable three runs in five innings against the juggernaut Dodgers lineup. It was Daulton Jefferies' start and the bullpen that has been the run prevention culprit. Thankfully, there are several sustainability/"luck" indicators that strongly suggest that the Giants will improve at preventing runs. Their HR/FB ratio, left-on-base percentage, and BABIP allowed are all unsustainably bad and will improve.Another way the SF Giants will improve is by getting Blake Snell into the rotation, and the Giants say he will make his season debut on Monday at home against the Nationals. Alex Cobb doesn't seem to be too far behind Snell, and once he's ready to go, that could push Keaton Winn into a long relief role, making the bullpen that much better and deeper. Winn flashed excellent stuff in his outing that was better than the ERA over 5.00 would suggest.Find and follow Locked On Giants on your favorite podcast platforms:
Segment 1 – The WeatherSegment 2 – PercotaSegment 3 – 12 things I'm anxious to see this season1.How do Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery get along this season? – Discuss the whole Broas setup this offseason and their having big seasons could go a long way to re-establishing Boras as the elite of elite agencies. If not, there might be a sea change in agency representatives.2.Did the off-season training for Shane Bieber, Casey Mize, and Ryan Weathers truly make them better pitchers, or is this just Spring Training noise?3.Giancarlo Stanton looks physically great, but will that translate into success on the field? He is the active leader in career home runs at 402 and still has a solid shot at 500. However, he's 34, so he needs to have a bounce back year in order to stay on that pace.4.Does Wyatt Langford pull a Mike Trout. There is not only some physical resemblance, but both made the minor leagues look easy and moved through quickly. Trout was a high school kid, but Langford is an older college player.5.Will the Orioles outsmart themselves with Jackson Holliday? Will he stay down longer than we all think? I'll explain.a.If he finishes in the Top 2 of ROY, then he automatically gets a year of service credited. b.If he doesn't start the year on the 40-man, the Orioles can not get a draft pick if he finishes in the Top 3 of ROY voting.c.Bring up the signing of Tony Kemp.6.Which Rookie not named Langford or Yamamoto will be Rookie of the Year?7.Does Maikel Garcia add more power? 8.Will Estuery Ruiz be a true one-hit wonder? a.Will he get full-time playing time?b.There have been rumors of improved plate patience. Is that real?c.Side note – Is Victor Scott II going to be Estuery Ruiz 2.0?9.Is Jarred Kelenic any good?10.Will Nolan Jones take the next step, or will that .401 BABIP cause such a correction that managers who drafted him in the fourth round, are not going to be happy?11.How good will Yamamoto be?12.Is Gerrit Cole going to be ok or will he join the TJ Club?a.Will Carlos Rodon and Nestor Cortes return their 2022 form?b.Will Juan Soto have that magical season where he hits 50 home runs and drives in 120 with 120 runs scored?
Fantasy Baseball Live – November 26, 2023 @ 3 pmSegment 1 - News and Notes1.The Diamondbacks acquired Eugenio Suarez for RHP Carlos Vargas and Catcher Seby Zavalaa.Suarez brings a 30% K-Rate but has always hit for power. He had back-to-back 31 home run seasons, and then last year, he hit 22. In looking at the data, the exit velos are the same, the launch angle is the same, the K-Rate is the same, and the walk rate is the same. You got it…everything is the same. He's dropped to the 24th third baseman off the board. If you think he can return to 30 home runs, does this give him some value here? Especially if you need power late in the draft.b.Carlos Vargas has a great arm with a fastball that will touch triple-digits, but he has no idea where the ball is going. He's likely a bullpen arm. Seby Zavala came through the White Sox organization and strikes out too much. Not sure he's more than a backup catcher. Thoughts on both players?2.The Cardinals sign two pitchers. Kyle Gibson and Lance Lynn. Both were okay last year with the Orioles and White Sox/Dodgers. Lynn's ADP is 353, and Gibson is 564. Any interest?a.Does this move the needle for the Cardinals?3.We both got excited about the trade that brought Brandon Shewmake to the White Sox. Maybe he would get a shot. What do the White Sox do? Sign Paul DeJong. a.He has one of the worse baseballsavant pages I've seen. 2% rank in exit velo. 15% in hard-hit rate, 5% in whiff, 10% in walks, 37th percentile in speed. It looks like he has good range at short with a poor arm. b.He's only been drafted in four out of the 44 Drafts at the NFBC so far. Maybe that goes up?c.This doesn't appear to be a profile of a Major League full-time regular. Maybe a utility player. What am I missing?Segment 2 – Fantasy Questions of the NL West1.Arizona Diamondbacksa.Alek Thomas is currently living off his great defensive chops. Huge range in center field. He's also a plus runner, ranking in the 87th percentile. There is some solid exit velo, but he beats everything on the ground. He's the 80th outfielder off the board – a number-five outfielder. Is this a growth stock, or would you take a bet on someone else as your fifth outfielder?b.What about Jake McCarthy? There's plus speed but no power. He also beats everything on the ground? Thoughts on McCarthy? Is he a guy you're interested in? His ADP is 490, or the 94th outfielder off the board?i.Can you be a Championship level team with this level of power in centerfield and right?c.Brandon Pfaadt looked great on the biggest stage, and his ADP climbed a little. He's still going as the 87th pitcher off the board – likely the 60th or so starter off the board. Is there value as your fifth pitcher?i.Stat line: IP, wins, Ks, and ERAd.The Diamondbacks won 84 games last season. Does the win total go up or down next season?e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major)2.Colorado Rockiesa.Nolan Jones went 20-20 with a .297 average. He's going as the 15th outfielder off the board – pick #58. How many teams of yours will he be on? We will look at other outfielders around the same area.i.Notes: Jones had a .401 BABIP and struck out 30% of the time. There is serious pop with an exit velocity of 90 MPH with a max of 115. There's not a ton of launch.b.Stat line of Ezequiel Tovar – HR, SB, RBI, and BAc.Hunter Goodman (#624) or Brenton Doyle (#541)?d.You have to hold your nose and pick a Rockies starter. Who's it going to be?e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major)3.Los Angeles Dodgersa.Gavin Lux stat line: AB, HR, SB and BAb.Are the Dodgers going to battle with Chris Taylor (#429), Gavin Lux, Michael Busch (#546), and Miguel Rojas (#726) hitting at the bottom of the order? We will discuss each (not Lux) and whether they are worth drafting.c.Walker Buhler's stat line: IP, wins, K's, and ERAd.Bobby Miller is going as the #36 pitcher off the board in early NFBC Drafts. That's a #2 starter when you factor in closers. Too high, too low, or just about right?e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major)4.San Diego Padresa.Luis Campusano – AB, HR, RBI, and BAb.Manny Machado is going as the #7 third baseman off the board. He's been passed by Gunnar Henderson and Royce Lewis. Solid value in the fifth round, or would you pass him over?c.Yu Darvish had a tough season, pitching to a 4.56 ERA and ending the season on the IL after having bone spurs removed from his pitching elbow. He's fallen to the 15/16 round in 15-team drafts. Any interest?d.2024 will mark AJ Preller's 10th year on the job. He went in big when he first arrived. He quickly sold off almost everyone he traded for when it didn't work. He then drafted and signed high-end Latin player for a few years in what looked like a rebuild. Then, he traded away those prospects for veterans while signing high-priced free agents (Hosmer, Machado, Xander, et. al). They've made the playoffs twice and even got to the NLCS in 2022. However, he's spent a fortune and needs to sell off pieces so the Padres can make payroll. How has he kept his job? e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major)5.San Francisco Giantsa.Marco Luciano: Stat line for 2024 – AB, HR, RBI, and BAb.Michael Conforto's bat speed has slowed. He used to light up statcast with his exit velos and hard-hit rates. Now, it's below average – in the 40s for both, with an average launch angle. He's not that old – he turns 31 in March. Could we see a bounce back in 2024, or is he just a 15- to 18-year-old home run guy with some OBP skills now?c.Kyle Harrison: Stat line for 2024 – IP, wins, Ks, and ERAd.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major)CloseThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/3306394/advertisement
Fantasy Baseball Live – November 5, 2023 – 3 pm, ET Segment 1 – News and Notes1.The Rangers win the World Series in five games. Final thoughts on the series.2.The series had the lowest ratings in history – down 23% from 2022. In 2016, Hou vs. LAD, each game averaged 18.9 million viewers. This year, it was less than half at 9.1 M.a.You can argue that the Rangers and D-Backs don't have National appeal, but viewership is declining. The last four WS are the four lowest-rated series in history.b.Is this just the way it is? So far, it hasn't affected TV rights, but is this coming?c.What about the Padres having to take a loan out to make payroll?3.The White Sox did not pick up Tim Anderson's option. No surprise here as he slashed .245/.286/.296 with one home run. You can make the argument that he was the worst full-time regular in the big leagues. a.Statcast shows nothing good. Poor average exit velo and hard-hit rate. He's lost his speed, now ranking 46% in the league. 23% K-Rate and of course, he still never walks.b.Does he get a job? If so, is there any value here?4.We have our first trade of the off-season as the Tigers acquired Mark Canha from the Brewers for RHP, Blake Holuba. The Tigers truly do not see Akil Baddoo as a full-time regular. Thoughts on the deal for the Tigers?b.We will talk about the Brewers implications in the next segmentSegment 2 and 3 - Fantasy Baseball Questions of the NL Central1.Chicago Cubsa.Pete Crow-Armstrong (PCA) – Stat line for the season: AB, HR, SB, and BAb.Christopher Morel hit 26 home runs in only 107 games. He also struck out 31% of the time. Few hit the ball harder than he does (92nd percentile in hard-hit rates), but he's going as the 51st outfielder off the board. Is he someone you are interested in as your number-four outfielder?c.Javier Assad got 10 starts last season and overall pitched to a 3.09 ERA. He's a sinker ball pitcher without a true out-pitch, but he avoided hard contact and was pretty good. He's going as an afterthought in drafts – pick 436 (round 30). Any interest?d.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major)2.Cincinnati Redsa.Elly De La Cruz – Stat line for the season: AB, HR, SB, and BA.b.TJ Friedl hit 18 home runs and stole 27 bags. Are you buying this? Early drafts are saying people do as he's going as the 30th outfielder off the board.c.Hunter Greene is going as the 45th pitcher off the board (29th starter). That makes him a number two starter. Any interest in drafts?i.He will be a number ___________ pitcher at the end of the season.d.Will the Reds make the playoffs?e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major)3.Milwaukee Brewersa. With the trade of Mark Canha, the Brewers appear to be clearing the decks for their young outfielders. Assuming health, who will be in the starting outfield at the end of the seasonb.Jackson Chourio – Stat line for 2024 – AB, HR, SB, and BA.i.90 AB, 5 HR, 11 SB, .255 AVG.c.Brice Turang wasn't very good last season. He slashed .218/.285/.300 but did have 26 stolen bases. He also had a .268 BABIP. Statcast shows a light-hitting second baseman as he has one of the poorest hard-hit rates in the league, but he only struck out 21% of the time and always him the minor leagues. Finally, he's going as the 40th second baseman off the board. Is there value here in Draft and Hold Leagues? Would you take him in a one-year league?d.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major) 4.Pittsburgh Piratesa.Oneil Cruz – stat line for 2024 – AB, HR, SB, and BA.b.I still like Ke'Byran Hayes. He hits the ball hard, has solid speed, and makes excellent contact - ok, he never walks. But, he added loft to his swing in 2023 and I think he's poised for a breakout. Am I on another planet here? He's going as the 20th third baseman off the board.c.Which of the kids we discussed last week is starting games for Pittsburgh in the second half in 2024?d.The Pirates win _________________ ballgames in 2024.e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major)5.St. Louis Cardinalsa.Maysn Winn – Stat line in 2024 – AB, HR, SB, and BAb.Jordan Walker over/under 25 HRs in 2024c.Miles Mikolos's sinker wasn't sinking, and he got crushed. He ranked in the bottom 15% in the league in giving up hard hits. He doesn't throw hard and doesn't strike out anyone, but of course, the Cardinals have him signed for two more years. i.That said, he has an ADP of 420, so he's nearly free. Would you take a gamble on him in one-year leagues or is he better left in the draft queue?d.The Cardinals finish ahead or behind the Pirates in 2024 in the standingse.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major)CloseThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/3306394/advertisement

Give me two moves that you would do to prevent the Orioles from going three and out in next year's playoffs.i.Do the Orioles make the playoffs in 2024?b.Roster Resource has Jackson Holliday as the starting shortstop. Do you believe this will happen?c.Stat line for Jordan Westburg – AB, HR, SB, and BAd.Kyle Bradish is going as the 37th pitcher off the board (25th starter). Is this something that interest you? Too high? Too low?i.Is he someone you are personally interested in?e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major)2.Boston Red Soxa. After some starts and stops, Jarren Duran was pretty good last season—.295/.346/.482 with 8 HRs and 24 SBs in only 362 plate appearances. Statcast shows above-average hard hit rates, elite speed but contact issues (25% K-Rate), and 6.6% BB-Rate. He also had a .381 BABIP.i.With all that, he's the 45th outfielder off the board. Any interest as your #3 outfielder?b.Tristan Casas will hit ________________ home runs in 2024.c.I believe you mentioned that Brayan Bello is one of your targets this year. If so, what are you liking?d.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major)3.New York Yankeesa.Anthony Volpe went 20-20 (21 HR and 24 SB), but he also hit .209 with a .283 OBP while striking out 28% of the time. He also posted a .259 BABIP. At 22, you have to consider him as a player who is still developing, and given how deep shortstop is, he's only the 18th shortstop off the board.i.Would you take him as your MI? Would you wait and take him as your starting SS? Or, just avoid him? b.Over/Under 400 at-bats for Giancarlos Stanton? He is going as the 86th outfielder off the board. On the surface, this seems like value, but why do I have this “wasted pick” feeling? Your thoughts?c.Put your GM hat on. What three moves would you make for the Yankees to return to the playoffs?d.Michael King will finish as a top _______________ pitcher in fantasy baseball.i.He's going as the 61st pitcher off the board or the 39th starter. Too rich for you, or are you taking the plunge?e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major)4.Tampa Bay Raysa.Wander Franco – Over/Under 1 game played in 2024? If over, how many?b.Isaac Paredes was one of my sleepers last season, but I didn't expect 31 home runs. In looking at the data, he's a launch angle guy (22 degrees) but doesn't hit the ball all that hard (6% hard-hit rate). He has a great strikeout rate (18.2%).i.Are you buying the 31 home runs?
