Hey everyone, If you listened to our last episode, you'll know Grace's Internet cut out halfway through recording and Nick and I had no idea when she would be back. So we did the only thing we could: immediately derail the episode to talk about the one topic Grace won't let us cove; beloved and frankly top tier Sci-fi series Farscape. If you'd like to here us* simp for Aeryn Sun for about 15 minutes before Grace comes back enjoy this interlude. And if you haven't already, go watch Farscape its really good. By the way, we're all ill right now and behind on recording, next proper episode may well be late, but it is coming. *James

Farscape 4·17: A Constellation of DoubtOn Moya, as John wonders about the location of Katratzi - the likely location Aeryn Sun is being held captive - he obsessively watches a television transmission that Moya has intercepted from Earth. Bild und Copyright Farscape brand: © The Jim Henson Company. It's 1999, and the (fictional) IASA organization is testing a new spacecraft designed by scientist John Crichton that will help propel humanity into the stars. Crichton overshoots just a LITTLE bit, and ends up running into an alien spacecraft on the other side of the galaxy, accidentally causing the death of the very conspicuously human-like pilot. Pursued by the Peackeeper armada, John is taken in by a group of prisoners escaping aboard a living ship. Now John Crichton is trying to find his way back home, but has to survive this strange new world long enough to do so. Vinnk and Sean share their college-era memories of one of the greatest science fiction (or should we say "SYFY"?) series of all time, and how well it holds up over 20 years later - especially the practical effects and muppet aliens provided by Jim Henson's Creature Shop. As one of the last series of the 20th century, there are over 20 episode per season to get through, compared to most of our other reviews, but you don't have to bust out your VHS tapes or fullscreen, non-anamorphic DVDs to watch along. Starring: * Ben Browder - John Crichton * Claudia Black - Aeryn Sun * Anthony Simcoe - Ka D'Argo * Jonathan Hardy - Dominar Rygel XVI * Lani Tupu - Pilot / Captain Bialar Crais * Gigi Edgley - Chiana Available on Amazon Prime Video and Blu-ray. This week TV addicts Schmee and Riker review the pilot episode of the TV series Farscape, “Premiere” (Sci-Fi/Amazon Prime). We discuss the old cheesy intro and judge the pilot in each of our four categories: 1) Genre/Theme - how well did it set expectations for the tone and conventions of the show 2) Characters - how effectively were we introduced to characters and whether they were compelling; 3) Series Plot - how well expectations were set for the series plot and week-to-week episodes to follow and 4) Hook - whether or not it had us coming back for more. Are Luxans similar to Klingons? Are John Crichton and Peter Quill the same man? If not Earth, where next for our ragtag crew? And did you keep watching the series past this episode?! In their final episode, Kay and Taz talk about their favorite arcs and episodes, character growth, and what makes Farscape Farscape. They also have listener comments and profound thanks for all the amazing Farscape fans who've come along for the ride.
Due to lack of calendaring skills, Kay and Taz will have the Season 4 Wrap Up episode out next week on May 11, 2018.
We are on unexpected hiatus until December 29! Technical woe combined with scheduling conflicts have conspired against Kay and Taz. Our plan to record ahead to get through the holidays, like most Farscape plans, crashed and burned.
Kay and Taz say goodbye to Crais and Talyn in a heart wrenching episode that gives them both a good send off. Meanwhile, Scorpius has to deal with his life falling to pieces around him in this Farscape 2 parter.
John and the rest of Moya's crew head straight into Scorpius' hands as John tries to sabotage Scorpius' wormhole knowledge in the first of a Farscape two parter.
Kay and Taz do a deep dive in this Farscape episode that has Scorpy and Rygel teaming up against a pair of incompetent robbers and the rest of the crew making a hard decision regarding Talyn.
The Moya and Talyn crews reunite in this fast paced action episode that still leaves room for Aeryn/John moments that we all need.
Aeryn grieves for the loss of John in an episode that brings back Xhalax Sun and brings the crew of Talyn and Moya closer together.
John has to make an impossible decision in this conclusion to Farscape's hard 2 parter. Kay and Taz rave about Crais, cry about Aeryn and talk a lot about wormholes.
In the first of a Farscape two parter, John meets up with Jack again and they have to go retrieve wormhole tech from Furlow before it gets into the wrong hands. Kay and Taz reaffirm their love of Furlow, admire the Rygel character development and muse about how far John and Aeryn have come.
When Pilot is fed up with John and D'argo's bickering, he kicks the crew off Moya for an extended vacation on a pleasure planet that has a more than passing resemblance to Vegas. Dancing, drugs, and a seedy underbelly soon ensnare Chiana and Jool, while D'argo and John get roofied and robbed before getting their Ocean's 11 on, in one of the season's fun and creative episodes.
Talyn resists a sun's siren song and the rest of the crew resist their fight or flight responses to a leaking gas. A low key monster of the week episode is given a pop of interest with humor. Kay and Taz discuss this sexy Farscape episode.
Scorpius talks to a neuro-clone of John in order to try to convince him to give up secret wormhole data. He delves into his past in this villain-focused Farscape episode.
As Talyn recovers from his wounds, the crew faces down Xhalax Sun and her crew of mercenaries. Aeryn and her mother confront each other over their relationship and the past. Meanwhile, Stark has to use his nonexistent medical skills on Rygel.
After mysterious time jumps happen on Moya, the Farscape crew is faced with an alien who takes over Pilot and demands that they turn on each other to find its prey. Kay and Taz run down an episode that both of them had forgotten, but that they both like a lot.
Crais, Aeryn, John and Talyn get swallowed by a budong. As they struggle to find a way out, tensions reach a breaking point. Kay and Taz discuss a creepy Farscape episode written by Ben Browder.
As Crais and Talyn recover from a brutal attack, the crew searches for a substance that will help Talyn heal. Meanwhile, they get involved in local politics and the Johns have to play a twin game. Farscape just can't give John Crichton a good day.
Farscape does horror. Kay and Taz discuss the episode "Eat Me" and how sturdy an episode it is given that neither host likes horror as a genre.
Farscape sends its crew back in time. Right on the heels of Zhaan's death, the crew is faced with grandfather paradoxes, hard choices and a constantly changing present. Kay and Taz discuss Farscape's version of kicking you when you're down.
In this hard episode, Kay and Taz say goodbye to one of Farscape's favorite characters. They talk about tv deaths and Stark's blatant lying.
After colliding with another ship, Moya gets stuck in a wormhole. The crew struggles from one emergency to another all with Zhaan's death looming for them. Kay and Taz discuss part one of Farscape's goodbye to one of its most beloved characters.
A space storm forces the Moya crew into an emergency situation. The triangle between Chiana, Jothee and D'argo comes to an explosive conclusion in the second episode of Farscape season 3.
Kay and Taz are back with Farscape's Season of Death. Scorpius eats John's brain, makes Grunschick eat his finger and Bracca questions his life decisions. Join us for the not as dark as it seems "Season of Death."
Kay does a brief note about a brief hiatus before starting season 3.
Kay and Taz discuss season 2 highs and lows. Kay and Taz each pick and MVP for season 2 and a least favorite episode. They discuss listener favorites and a cryptic comment from Ricky Manning.
Season two builds to an epic conclusion as John loses control to the neural clone. Kay and Taz discuss an episode that hits you where it hurts.
As the plan shifts from rescuing Jothee to rescuing John, Aeryn takes charge of the band of mercenaries and crewmates. Talyn appears at a pivotal moment, although Crais is against using him for violence. Kay and Taz pick apart the most action heavy of the Liars, Guns and Money trilogy.
The crew rushes to form a dream team of season 1 bad guys to save Jothee before Scorpius can get his hands on him. Kay and Taz discuss Scorpius and Natira, Rygel and Chi's friendship and how dark Farscape can get.
Stark reappears, miraculously un-dispersed, and convinces D'argo to rob a bank in order to buy Jothee. As the plan goes pear shaped, Zhaan plays a pirate, Chiana is Schmee, and Rygel is a statue. Meanwhile John is tortured by Harvey when he tries to kill Scorpy. Kay and Taz enjoy episode 1 of a three parter.
The crew of Moya get brainwashed by a Nebari commander. Chiana needs to face her past while Harvey shows his use by helping John out of his surfer dude makeover. Kay and Taz discuss one of their favorite Farscape episodes.
Farscape does a Rashamon episode! Kay and Taz enjoy how well the actors each play different roles and discuss how it's interesting to see a Rashamon ep where it's all about who's lying about what.
Taz and Kay break down a mind bender of an episode. John wakes up and has never left Earth, except all of his Farscape friends are here. With some hysterical out of character moments, this episode combines comedy with the danger of John losing what's left of his mind.
Lots of people try to kill John, he gets married anyway. In the continuation of episode 1, John and Katrala face down a floating murder death ball and Zhaan is confronted with one of Moya's gods. Kay and Taz discuss Aeryn's struggle to understand John's lack of fight and agree that people need to not slap people on Farscape.
After splitting into three versions, Crichton is faced with a choice of which version of himself to throw into an alternate dimension. Kay and Taz discuss one of Farscape's less loved episodes. Some might call it bad. We call it bad. We still have fun talking about it.
In this flashback episode we find out what happened to Moya after she starburst away at the season 1 cliffhanger ending. Zhaan was put on trial for murder on the planet Litigara with only Chiana and Rygel to save her. Taz thinks a planet full of lawyers is just weird, Kay ponders the meaning of Zhaan's Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, and both enjoy the hilarity of Chiana and Rygel saving the day.
Chiana leads the starving Farscape crew to a mining town on a giant space creature called a Budong. She deals with her past and makes a deal for the crew's future while D'argo decides what kind of relationship he wants with her. Kay and Taz discuss Zhaan's starvation defense mechanism and Kay waxes on about how much she misses Deadwood.
After Chiana finds a video recording of Aeryn killing Moya's first Pilot, the crew must reconcile with her violent Peacekeeper past and Aeryn must grapple with Pilot who feels betrayed. Kay and Taz wallow in all the feelings of this intense episode where we learn more about where both Aeryn and Pilot come from and the choices they regret.
Crackers Don't Matter - one of Farscape's most memorable episodes for toeing the line of darkness and comedy. Kay and Taz discuss John and Aeryn's showdown and how much attention should be paid to food squares.
Kay and Taz discuss the Farscape episode "Taking the Stone". Chiana deals with her brother's death, John tries to solve a mystery about why all the kids on a planet are dying at 22 and Aeryn is the only adult on an entire planet. Meanwhile, Rygel does some graverobbing.
D'argo falls for an old Luxan holy woman who mistakenly takes Moya's energy to become young again, while the crew must struggle with Moya's sudden symptoms of old age. Kay and Taz discuss newly revealed D'argo backstory, John's overprotectiveness, and some truely atrocious CGI.
The crew deals with the fallout from Farscape's season 1 finale "Family Ties". Kay and Taz discuss the custody fight over Talyn and Zhaan's breakdown.
Kay and Taz wrap season 1 with highlights, lowlights and their favorite character arcs. Aeryn is featured heavily as well as a discussion about whether Rygel even has a character arc in season 1.
In the season 1 finale, Moya's crew hatches a desperate plan to escape Scorpius's grasp. As the tension mounts and they make their preparations, the crew snatch what moments they can to talk before they lose their chance. Bring a hanky to this one folks, Kay and Taz discuss the payoff of a seasons worth of feels.
After escaping from the Gammak base, the crew of Moya is forced into low power mode to avoid detection by Crais and his ship. Moya has trouble bonding with her offspring and the crew goes down to a garden of Eden to acquire map fibers. Meanwhile, Crais and Scorpius struggle for control of the command carrier. Taz and Kay enjoy the relative quietness of this episode as the effects of "Nerve" and "The Hidden Memory" shake out.
John endures the torture of Scorpius's Aurora Chair, while Aeryn and Gilina team up to rescue their damsel in distress. Kay and Taz are in love with Aeryn and her epic showdown with Crais and discuss the culmination of a number of storylines in one of the best episodes of the season.
Aeryn's health deteriorates after being stabbed at the end of the last episode and the crew rushes to find a solution on a secret Gammak base. Kay and Taz are super excited about the show's new dramatic villain - Scorpius . They also discuss the arc of Aeryn and D'argo's friendship.
John and Aeryn pose as Peacekeepers to fool a commando crew that comes aboard Moya. While everyone else is pretending to be prisoners, Chiana and Rygel release a sentient virus and tensions grow between real Peacekeepers, fake Peacekeepers and a crew unwilling to be imprisoned again.
Moya's split into 4 parts in one of the best bottle episodes ever aired on TV. We deal with Hynerian drinking songs, Chiana's place on the crew and why Aeryn's the best at (field tested battle) tech.
Kay and Taz read a couple of letters from fans and discuss cool theories about John's attitude in Jeremiah Crichton and Zhaan's role in Salas' death in Durka Returns.
John gets a chance to go home when a wormhole shows up near Moya. However, once he's there, he's stuck with government coverups, his friends treated as enemies and an uncertain relationship with his dad. Kay and Taz review A Human Reaction.
Rygel faces a nemesis and we meet the Nebari - a frightening race that controls the minds of their enemies and population. Kay and Taz are excited that Chiana is finally on the show.
When John gets left behind after an emergency starburst, the crew spends a quarter arn searching for him. They find him in the middle of a love triangle on a planet where technology doesn't work. Kay and Taz discuss what's commonly considered one of the worst episodes in Farscape's run.
After the crew experiences similar dreams, Moya starbursts to a new Delvian colony. Zhaan must face the past and make a terrible decision about her future. Meanwhile, the Delvian priests play mind games with the rest of the crew.
While teaching John to drive, Aeryn and he get stuck in a space net called "the Flax". D'argo and an ex-pirate go into the Flax looking for them while Rygel gambles with the captain in charge of the Flax. Kay and Taz discuss UST, Rygel's canniness and D'argo's connection to ancient Luxan ships.
John and Aeryn get trapped in a one horse town with bounty hunters out for the crew's blood. In Farscape's version of a western, D'argo and John finally work out some of their issues and the best side character is introduced.
After an explosion caused by D'argo's removal of PK tech, Moya begins cutting the crew off from resources they need to survive. While the crew is trying to solve the situation, D'argo is haunted by his past. Taz and Kay discuss how this is one of Farscape's quieter episodes, but how it delivers some powerful punches.
Farscape does moral relativism. With the chance of going home, Zhaan, D'argo and Rygel go down a Heart of Darkness path to decide who will go home first. Meanwhile, Aeryn and John deal with an evil scientist who uses DNA to make himself better. Kay and Taz discuss the darkest episode of the first season.
John and Crais get the confrontation that both are looking for after a wizard brings them both into a dream world of his making. Meanwhile, Zhaan uses her darker side to try to take down the wizard Maldis. Taz and Kay discuss the Farscape episode that wraps up a couple loose ends while engaging with some darker themes.
Kay and Taz talk about the Farscape episode "PK Tech Girl". Aeryn's faced with a stark reminder of her past, John finds someone who he clicks with and D'argo has to lie to an opponent. Kay and Taz delve into aliens that spit fire and why this episode feels so lonely.
After D'argo leaves the ship in the middle of a hyper-rage, the crew goes searching and finds him living a blissed out life as a farmer. Kay and Taz discuss Aeryn going out of her comfort zone as a scientist, D'argo and Zhan as possible lovers and the really sad rebellion on this PK controlled planet.
John Crichton becomes unstuck in time and must save the crew from an evil villain with wormhole tech. We discuss the sci fi time travel trope and sexy villainesses. We also discuss how long the crew let John wander around without a shower before forcing him to take one.
After presenting himself as un-deposed royalty, Rygel is kidnapped and the crew must work together to save him. Kay and Taz discuss Aeryn and D'argo's budding friendship and Zhaan's "just say no" approach to drug use.
Space cockroaches turn Moya into a sauna and the crew must figure out how to get rid of them before the heat permanently injures Aeryn or Moya. Taz and Kay discuss Rygel's political skills, teeth cleaning in space and whether Peacekeepers are the old white guy in the office that keeps the AC too cold.
Kay and Taz discuss the episode I E.T. and talk about how important this episode is for relationships in the crew and how John is very manipulative in most of his plans.
Kay and Taz talk about the first episode of Farscape. They discuss why it's called Premiere instead of "Pilot" and thesis statements for all the characters.
