Après avoir été au chevet des blessés de guerres pris en charge par l'ONG MSF, rencontre avec la famille Ahmat dont les blessures sont plus intimes, pas forcément visibles à l'œil nu. Voici leur quotidien avec un père qui souffre d'amnésie provoquée par le traumatisme de la guerre et a oublié le décès de son fils. Au lycée d'Adré, il n'y a plus un centimètre d'espace disponible. On dort à 10 familles par salle de classe et les conditions d'hygiène sont déplorables. Anane Kamis Ahmat surveille d'un œil inquiet le plafond qui menace de s'écrouler sur sa famille.« À El Geneina, nous avions trouvé refuge dans une école, mais elle a été bombardée, les cinq enfants de ma sœur ont été tués. Pendant notre fuite, des hommes armés nous tiraient dessus depuis leurs véhicules, mon fils de deux ans a pris une balle à l'arrière du crâne. Je l'ai porté sur mon dos durant 30km pour l'enterrer ici au Tchad. »Chaque jour, Anane traverse le camp pour apporter un plat de mil à son mari Abdallah, hospitalisé. Ne supportant pas d'être inactif, il s'enfuyait constamment. Les médecins l'ont détaché depuis qu'il suit un traitement : « Avant, je souffrais énormément, mais on m'a donné des médicaments et maintenant Dieu merci ça va beaucoup mieux. »Le regard vide, mâchonnant péniblement, Abdallah souffre de dissociation et d'amnésie provoqués par le stress post-traumatique. Son cerveau a comme effacé la mort de son fils. Un peu à l'écart, Anane nous explique : « Il a commencé à se rappeler certaines choses, mais pas de la guerre. Il demande des nouvelles de son fils, il me demande est-ce-que le petit a déjeuné ? Je n'ose pas lui dire la vérité. Parfois, il demande "où sommes-nous" ? »Omar Mohammed Omar, l'un des rares psychiatres du camp, la reçoit sous une petite tente blanche montée par l'ONG International Rescue Committee, à l'origine de la cellule de soutien : « Ce n'est pas un cas isolé, ce genre de troubles est lié au choc provoqué par la guerre et la fuite, à la peur d'être tué. Avant de fuir, ils vivaient à El Geneina dans une grande maison, puis d'un coup un matin, tu te retrouves dans un endroit comme ça, sans rien. L'impact psychologique est terrible. Je crois qu'il a vu ce qu'il n'aurait pas dû voir, les morts, les blessés, le corps de son fils. Et c'est ce qui a provoqué son état. » Abdallah Amat a de la chance d'être suivi. Mighty Real has hosted 5 years of some of the worlds best talent (Louie Vega, Anane, Kenny Dope, Joey Negro, Jellybean Benitez, Terry Hunter, Ultra Nate, Lisa Moody, Kevin Hedge, Todd Terry, Quentin Harris, Hector Romero, and we cannot forget our anniversary resident Frankie Knuckles who started our very first Mighty Real and celebrated our anniversaries until his passing. It was only fitting to bring DJ Danny Krivit, and Tedd Patterson, some of Frankie's close friends to our 5th anniversary Party. This is just a little bit of how the night went down.
