Raul Midón Nasceu em 14 de março de 1966 prematuramente em um h Hospital rural em Embudo, Novo México, filho de pais de ascendência argentina e afro-americana. Raul e seu irmão gêmeo, Marco, ficaram cegos ainda bebês após passarem um tempo em uma incubadora sem a devida proteção ocular. Sabia desde muito cedo que tinha interesse por música. Escreveu em seu site que, quando criança, "andava de carro e ouvia o ritmo da seta. Eu ouvia música em tudo, da buzina do carro ao canto dos grilos".A música tornou-se parte integrante da vida de Midón aos quatro anos de idade, quando seu pai o apresentou à bateria. . Em seguida, ingressou na Universidade de Miami, e escolheu o currículo de jazz, formando-se em 1990.Ouvia a coleção de discos de Charlie Parker e Miles Davis do pai, além da música pop da época:Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell e Paul Simon. Essas influências o levaram a explorar o jazz. Começou a ter aulas de violão com um músico flamenco, passou para o violão clássico e, em seguida, para o jazz. One of the things that the homeschooling movement has sought to address is the inordinate degree of separation that modern society has inculcated between parents and their children. Bringing children home has helped to restore the privilege of acting as the primary influence in their lives back where it belongs–with the parents. However, as good as the desire is to hold tight to our children and shield them from harmful influences, we must be careful not to hold them too tight (particularly older teenagers) and thereby restrict their access to those who might influence them for good and who may be the only one who can finish the work of truth in certain areas of their lives. What I always do while listening is something school related - I'm either grading papers or looking up or creating new assignments. I used to be quite low on St. Pat's but I have finally realized that there are many ways to be happy on this day of Irish celebration. I live in a very "unusual" area that has no Irish culture at all. I am a Celtic performer who must travel quite a distance in order to perform at festivals and events but that is impossible during the week since I work a regular job. I used to be sad to see all of my friends on Facebook singing and playing all week long! I wanted so much to be with them and enjoying the festivities. Then I realized that I was blessed to spend that time with my family...making an authentic Irish meal (NOT cornbeef and cabbage) and listening to those same friends on a mountain of CD's. There are, of course, Irish libations involved. : - ) Now I look forward to the day as it was originally meant to be; a chance to share our faith and our heritage with others."
