If you are looking for an album so definitive of our times—an album that exquisitely captures the chaos, the churn, the despair, and ultimately the hope of our world—look no further: LA-based Sons of Silver' (https://sonsofsilver.com/)s newest release Runaway Emotions is absolutely the one. Lead singer/songwriter Peter Argyropoulos has always been a bit of a soothsayer, as the band's first two EPs so clearly demonstrated. On Runaway Emotions, however, he takes it to a new level. In this episode, Peter joins me again to detail Runaway Emotions, his hopes and fears for the band and world, and so much more. We focus on four songs in particular—Running Out of Words, Nobody Minds, Hold Tight, and Friends. The album is rough, edgy, abrasive, yet tender. We dish on the state of the world, the music industry, and, of all things, wine. Check out this interview, then check them out on tour! Buckle up, ‘cause this one's a doozy!
Happy New Year and thanks for downloading my favourite selections from The Disco Podcast's 2024 sets. And there was something powerful about February's mix, because that was by far your most popular download of the year. Quite a few tracks from that set have made it onto this Best Of, including Anane, Dave Leatherman, Paolo Bardelli, Saturday Love, Hold Tight and Ken@Work. 2024 definitely had more of a soulful disco vibe and that's reflected by edits and remakes of the inimitable Lou Rawls and Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway, plus my personal favourite track of the year from Tamiko Jones - "Let it flow". And as my parting 2024 gift to you, I've snuck in a brand new exclusive track: my bootleg of Jessie Ware's "Free yourself". Enjoy! Hannah Glavor’s music used to lean toward singer-songwriter folk. But her newly released single, “Otherside,” shows an indie rock side to the Portland musician. She writes about loss and hope, and about darkness and the light on the other side. Glavor joined us in March 2024 for an interview and performance of songs from her then-upcoming album, “Hold On, Hold Tight,” which was released in September.

Episode Summary: In this episode of The MetaBusiness Millennial, I delve into the topic of resilient leadership—what it means to remain unshakeable, no matter what challenges come your way. With the world changing rapidly since the pandemic, it's more important than ever to cultivate strength and stability in both business and life. I share personal experiences of navigating setbacks, including moments of betrayal and frustration, and how these situations have helped me grow as a leader. Through our conversation, we explore practical tools and strategies for staying centered, maintaining your vision, and managing the ups and downs that come with pursuing your goals. Whether you're dealing with emotional roadblocks or looking for ways to stay true to your purpose, this episode offers valuable insights and encouragement. Key Takeaways: Managing Emotions is Crucial: Being a resilient leader means recognizing and nurturing your emotions, not ignoring them. Acknowledge your feelings—anger, sadness, frustration—and find ways to process them healthily through activities like meditation, journaling, or simply sitting with your thoughts. Hold Tight to Your Vision: Even during tough times, it's important to stay focused on your dreams and values. Trust that the challenges you face are part of your growth journey, and remember that setbacks can often be opportunities for deeper learning and self-reflection. Seek Guidance and Support: Having a mentor, coach, or spiritual guide can be a powerful way to accelerate your progress. They can help you see what you might be missing and offer a perspective that keeps you moving forward, even when things feel tough. Be Open to Change: Embracing flexibility and allowing yourself to "be like water" can help you navigate challenges with greater ease. Sometimes, letting go of rigid expectations can open up space for even better possibilities to unfold. Curate Your Digital Space: If social media feels overwhelming, take steps to create a digital environment that supports your energy. Unfollow or mute accounts that don't align with you, and focus on engaging with content that uplifts and resonates with your journey. We hope we've been a great resource in your own Surrogacy/Parenting journey. We created this series of episodes to give back to a community that has so much grey area and a lot of unknowns. From the very beginning it has been our main objective to bring information, education and to highlight altruistic surrogacy in Australia. We've always wanted to provide meaningful content and that's why we've decided to take a small hiatus until we feel we have something more meaningful to share with you all. You can't be what you can't see. We hope we've made you feel seen and have given other people the hope and energy to keep going in their own journeys. This episode deals with glues and adhesives, from prehistoric times to the present. We talk of prehistoric glue from tree saps, petroleum tar, animal glues, casein glues, albumin glues, and starch glues, all known in ancient times. Medieval knowledge added fish glue, and by the Renaissance we start industrial-scale adhesive factories. The 19th century brought rubber cement, mucilage, and library paste. We talk of 20th-century products like white glue, epoxy, polyurethane glues, super glues, glue guns, glue sticks, and even Post-It Notes.Support the Show. One of the things that the homeschooling movement has sought to address is the inordinate degree of separation that modern society has inculcated between parents and their children. Bringing children home has helped to restore the privilege of acting as the primary influence in their lives back where it belongs–with the parents. However, as good as the desire is to hold tight to our children and shield them from harmful influences, we must be careful not to hold them too tight (particularly older teenagers) and thereby restrict their access to those who might influence them for good and who may be the only one who can finish the work of truth in certain areas of their lives. About Sean Sean Allen is the founder of The Well Ordered Homeschool, husband to his beautiful bride Caroline and a proud father of eight. He has a bachelor of fine arts in graphic design and is passionate about creating materials to assist parents in the incredibly challenging, yet surpassingly beautiful, work of schooling and training their children at home. Annie is a therapist who took the leap and went into private practice. Three months before she joined The Enchanted Circle, she listened to three years worth of episodes in two months, and things started to shift and expand. So much amazing stuff happened while listening to the podcast that Annie decided to join The Enchanted Circle. Her former money story is Hold Tight, which had her considering sleeping on her friend's floor for another year so she could hold onto all of her money. As she started through the process of Manifest $10K along with some coaching, she realized she was worth so much more. So, she signed a lease on a new house! Since joining The Enchanted Circle, she has gained a huge sense of peace. A few months ago, that peace was a feeling of worry. Annie said, “I think all my energy used to go to worrying.” The shift was evident when, a couple days ago, a big contract ended, and she spent zero time worrying about that loss of income. Instead, she immediately said, “That leaves space for an opportunity closer to my home.” Listen to hear more! Enchanted Life U: Instagram: @ enchantedlifeu TikTok @enchantedlifeu

For St. Patrick's Day we love to listen to Irish/Celtic music all day so if it's in a podcast, we'll add that for our listening pleasure. And we ALWAYS have corned beef dinner!" Darin Wallace of the Stout Pounders wrote: "For St. Patrick's Day I am celebrating by playing music all day in pubs in Seattle, WA with my band Stout Pounders. We would love it if you featured one of our upbeat newer tracks from our Pour Decisions album. :) Enjoy the big day and happy birthday in advance!! " Gordon Webb replied to the Celtic Music Magazine: "While listening I relax back in a recliner with my feet up. For your St. Patrics show, the more the better. Thanks for all of your years of shows." Catherine Koehler replied the Celtic Music Magazine: "I know I only need to answer one of the questions but I'm an overachiever so I will do all three. What I always do while listening is something school related - I'm either grading papers or looking up or creating new assignments. I used to be quite low on St. Pat's but I have finally realized that there are many ways to be happy on this day of Irish celebration. I live in a very "unusual" area that has no Irish culture at all. I am a Celtic performer who must travel quite a distance in order to perform at festivals and events but that is impossible during the week since I work a regular job. I used to be sad to see all of my friends on Facebook singing and playing all week long! I wanted so much to be with them and enjoying the festivities. Then I realized that I was blessed to spend that time with my family...making an authentic Irish meal (NOT cornbeef and cabbage) and listening to those same friends on a mountain of CD's. There are, of course, Irish libations involved. : - ) Now I look forward to the day as it was originally meant to be; a chance to share our faith and our heritage with others."

What other podcasts do you listen to? brennan donnelly replied to the question of what he's doing while listening: "Everything - from working to gardening to riding in my car." On St Patrick's Day he planned to be "cooking Salmon for friends than having a session" Jeremy King of Poitin said: "Hey Marc, I'm off to Vienna this St Pat's weekend - I'm sure there are one or two Irish pubs there. But really I'm going for a concert of film music by Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra and strolling around the beautiful old city...." Anne emailed: "I most often listen while I'm driving. On St. Patrick's Day I'll eat out for a special Irish meal." Gary Randolph said: "I'm doing a storytelling performance for St. Patrick's Day." Connie Kiefiuk emailed: "I am finishing an embroidery project while listening to the podcast. For St. Patrick's day cooking a traditional corned beef, cabbage, carrots, onion and potatoes meal. I am eating my homemade dinner with a glass (or two) of Guinness Stout wearing my green and watching "The Quiet Man" movie. Love your podcasts. I'm a newbie, discovered your program this past summer." Shel O'Toole emailed: "Dear Marc, Thanks for sending out this song on ANZAC day. The words of the returned soldier M Edgerley would be powerful enough on their own but when presented by the wonderful voices of Jonny Dyer and Vicki Swan and their musical accompaniment they are deeply felt. I was moved to tears. I tend to avoid ANZAC Day as it seems to have become a promotion of war rather than a remembrance of the horrors and loss. This song took me back to when I was a child and the purpose of ANZAC day was to acknowledge the futility and ongoing impact of war. This Aussie thanks you. Regards" Brian McReynolds sent a picture: "So on my (local) travels, I wore my podcast shirt with my kilt while touring the B Reactor on the Hanford Nuclear Site in Washington State. It was well received by a tour guide and one of the people on the tour. Love your podcast and everything you do for the artists. ''
