In this episode of Living The Retirement Lifestyle Podcast we talk to business coach Andrew Priestley editor and contributor of Retire Inspire 1 and get his perspective of entrepreneurship in and for retirement. Andrew Priestley is a bestselling author of The Money Chimp, Starting and Awareness; an award winning business leadership coach and a Top 100 UK entrepreneur mentor so you're going to find he has a lot to say about starting and running a business... no shiny objects here! We were honoured to have been asked to contribute a chapter to Retire Inspire along with 20 other experts from a wide variety of disciplines all of whom share their best advice on how professionals can achieve a totally fulfilling retirement Let's hear what Andrew Priestley has to say when we ask him for his wisdom on retiring baby boomers starting a business https://vimeo.com/538629768 Key Points From Our Interview With Andrew Priestley Andrew points out that our passion alone is highly unlikely to give us the lifestyle or fortunes we crave no matter how well meaning we aim to be. We need to have thought things through with a business head on if we want it to be successful We couldn't have said it any better! Why Do You Want To Do It (sic become an entrepreneur/start a business)? What's Your Idea? Who's It For? What's The Business Model? What Are Your Values? The truth is that Boomers are healthier and living longer. They expect to travel. They expect to do things that are exciting. They expect to do things that matter and make a difference. They want entertainment and lifestyle choices. Whole industries are emerging around property downsizing, health and wellness, aged care, medicine, travel, security, finance and law. What skills or experience do you have that people want or need and will create you an income. What's the motivator for wanting to start a business? Is it because you're running out of money or is it because you can't imagine doing nothing much with your time when the 9-5 comes to an end? So many questions to ask yourself... And for those who could take their skills and start a coaching business Andrew gives you some amazing training - we got so many golden nuggets from that and we hope you did too Resources Andrew mentioned some of his books during our interview. Award winning business leadership coach, international speaker and one of the UK’s top 100 entrepreneur mentors Andrew Priestly joins Fredrik, Ivan and Charlie today to talk all things business. Together they discuss how important it is for entrepreneurs to know their own values, the mindset of an entrepreneur and how to invest in yourself means you need to first believe in yourself. KEY TAKEAWAYS The best entrepreneurs are really clear on their values and their overall intentions. What is it you’re trying to do? Whilst making money is appealing in business, it is not the sole reason you should be an entrepreneur, think about what your overall goal is. Most businesses work on this idea of ‘money’ and ‘volume’. So if you have a really low cost item, then you have to drive the volume up, you always want to make a profit. Your job is to market and drive traffic as you cannot offer something at a low price at a low volume. The mindset of an entrepreneur is knowing that you can create massive value for people because you know who your market is, what they want and the problems they are trying to solve. Direction and determination are two variables that drive entrepreneurs. You need to know where you are going and how you want to get there. You might know where you want to go but if you lack the direction, you won’t get there. You might have determination, but you don’t know where you’re going. To get anywhere in life you have to invest but you have to understand what investing actually means. To invest means to deep dive, reflect and take time to think things through. You should also invest emotionally in yourself, invest in your dreams and desires and always believe in your ability to achieve them, that in itself is investment. A lot of people invest outwardly but they do not work on themselves internally. BEST MOMENTS “You will get less people, but they will start paying more money.” “If you cannot get $97 worth of value out of a two hour seminar then you need to check for the pulse.” “As soon as you start to look ripped your ego goes through the roof.” “You learn a lot just by doing stuff.” ABOUT THE GUEST Andrew Priestley is a qualified, award-winning business leadership and executive coach with extensive experience working with a diverse range of established SME and corporate clients worldwide. In 2017, he was ranked in the Top 100 UK Entrepreneur Mentors .Qualified in Industrial and Organisational Psychology, he is the best-selling author of three books: The Money Chimp, Starting and Awareness; and has edited several other best-selling titles including Retire Inspire, Sales Genius, and the bestselling Fit For Purpose Leadership series. He initially started coaching high-end compliance clients (aviation, mining, law, medicine, engineering etc) and developed an award winning leadership development methodology based on five traits of highly effective leaders, that is used worldwide.Andrew is a highly sought after international speaker and facilitator. Today Pete speaks to Gabriel Uribe, a coach and mentor from Mexico with a strong purpose to serve others in creating more wealth. They talk about coaching, business, connection and more! KEY TAKEAWAYS After a difficult time in business in his 30s Gabriel started to look more into the idea of wealth and success without jeopardising his soul. Sometimes you need to rise-up and gain a change of mindset and start ‘creating’ to become wealthy and successful. Conscious creation is consciously thinking about what you are putting out to the world and by doing this you can be your true authentic self. Gabriel says that business owners have a huge impact, that they can be the change makers of the world. He says that peace, harmony and other goals are not able to be met by governments but by us as individuals and business owners and being conscious of the impact we make. Fire in the Belly for Gabriel is connection, peace and a ‘knowing’ that everything is going to alright in the end. Being able to connect to your inner-self and recognising what it is you are in the world to achieve. Many people think of philanthropy as being the ultimate course to being a ‘good human being’. But, there are so many things closer to home that you can support and help with that are selfless and can make you a ‘good human’. BEST MOMENTS “The beautiful part is I started digging about the concept of wealth and the concept of success” “Sometimes you have to rise up to be bright” “I will let the creating go through me so I can be whatever I want to be” “Allow ourselves to be leaders of the change, of the real good change” “If you have a healthy ego you know that you’re valuable” VALUABLE RESOURCES Subscribe to Fire In The Belly Podcast on Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fire-in-the-belly/id1499375061) https://www.coachgabrieluribe.com/ https://www.amazon.com/When-All-Boats-Rise-Thriving-ebook/dp/B075LWN1M5 https://open.spotify.com/show/64pfo3Ni7HZ3nhMTM3wMMD?si=pkKBf7OTTiifI7pPb5kmcQ https://worldclass.academy/courses/masterpiece2 ABOUT THE GUEST Gabriel Uribe A coach with a strong purpose to serve others in creating more wealth! Today he knows very well that Wealth is all that you are left with when you run out of money. Gabriel has been a student of internationally renowned coaches such as Andrew Priestley, Steve Chandeler , Rich Litvin , Roger Hamilton and Ricardo Escobar and he really wants to help you achieve success without losing your soul trying. Peter Daly-Dickson is the co-founder and CEO of Macanta, a software company serving start-up and emerging franchise brands, in the UK. One of his partners, a best-selling author, prior to the start of their joint venture, knew the value that having a book, could bring to a start-up, or emerging business. So they thought about publishing a book centered upon their new business and its disciplines. Then, Peter had a vision to take that a step further and to invite others to join in the creation of a collaborative, multi-author publication, that would not only lift their own new business, but also those of the contributors, as well. Peter's thought was that more stakeholders, with shared purpose, would be better, in terms of assuring success. A rising tide lifts ALL SHIPS, is how he viewed it. Well, Peter was right. The book was released as an International Best Seller on Amazon Kindle and will soon be available in paperback. Here to talk about it all, is Peter Daly Dickson…..

The amazing benefits of journaling. I've been encoruaged to journal for many years but haven't. I've started numerous times but I found it hard to stick with it. Like any habit you need a compelling reason to motivate you and I never really had one. This was the motivation for this Team Super Dad "Expert Hangout". To find out what journaling really is, how to do and how to make it stick long term.Joining me were Moyra Mackie, Dale Darley and surprise guest Andrew Priestley. Please subscribe to this podcast and share with friends.Leaving a review (iTunes) is also an amazing way to support Team Super Dad and provide me with feedback. Dale and Moyra are both writers and journaling coaches who support people and businesses in the power of journaling.Andrew is an amazing business coach who I know from the Key Person of Influence alumni. When I heard he had journaled since 1976 I just had to get him involved. Amazing!I'm not really sure I understood what I was trying to get out of journaling nor how it was going to benefit me. This was why I never made it stick as a daily habit. What value is there in scribbling down what we did each day? It can seem rather pointless or at least less important than all the other things I have got to do in my Dad Life. That is where I was wrong.Journaling is a positive workout for your mind and heart. As I have come to learn it is not about simply keeping a track of what you did that day. It is far more than that. Your journal is a log of your thoughts, experiences and ideas. It can be words, pictures, drawings. It is whatever you feel compelled to get down for that day. It is a flowing physical and mental process that works your mind as a muscle. This is where the power lies.In our busy lives we do not commonly take enough time to wind down, relax and just be. We think this time is wasted and that we have better things to do. Like so many 'go slow' actions though the value is in allowing our mind and emotions to catch up, to process all that has been happening and come up with the ideal next steps. In many ways journaling is a form of meditation. What's more it gives you the opportunity to reflect and learn from what has been happening to you. Andrew tells us how he has been journaling since 1976. This has given him huge scope to explore, develop and broaden ideas in his family, work and personal life. Our brain is an incredibly powerful machine and we have to remember to give it time to recharge. The magic is in whats available to us from that recharge.I've stated journaling on a daily basis and put myself on a 90-Day Challenge to not miss a day.I hope based on this Expert Hangout you start journaling to.Team Super DadTeam Super Dad is for Dads who want more from life - to be more, make more and play more. This is a time for me to take a pause after the 15th episode to thank you all my listeners. Thank you for your support, the messages and reviews that you’ve left me whether it’s on iTunes, social media, on my website or by direct email. These messages mean a lot to me and encourage me to bring you more inspiration. I’ve started this podcast back in January 2019 and we are now in April. 15 episodes is a good milestone, but I am only getting started and would love to celebrate my 50th episode, 100th episode and much more! This podcast is the place where I interview today’s most inspiring thought-leaders, authors, speakers, CEOs, entrepreneurs and change makers who share how they found & followed their path in life. I want to have honest conversations with my guests to share both their successes and failures and you’ve seen how many of them were open and sincere when sharing what it took to get to where they are now. Thought-provoking Insights and Practical Frameworks I’ve been so inspired and learnt so much with my guests in the season 1 and hope you were too. They have given actionable steps and very useful frameworks to help come up with our own answers to live a fulfilled life Akhatar Badhash (ep 8) shared the 6 Cs to live a fulfilled life: Conviction, Creativity, Capability, Capacity, Commitment and Compassion. Suki Fuller (ep 9) shared the 3 As to apply to move from a mundane job to do something meaningful: Awareness of what you want to do, Advocacy is what you need to do to get there and finally, Action to make it happen. Andrew Priestley (ep 13) talked about the 3 things that need to occur to achieve meaning: you've got to love what you do; you've got to actually be good at it and find where can you achieve the most value. Jazz Rasool (ep 10) shared 3 core things that need to happen to bring you life: what you're passionate about, what you're talented in and what you have a sense of responsibility or duty for. If those 3 conditions are not there, you will struggle to make it. You’ve heard all their amazing stories, their struggles and how they’ve come through on the other side. There is so much more wisdom from my other guests and I really invite you to listen to them all as they bring a different perspective that will give you much clarity. I am preparing the Season 2 of the show with even more inspiring stories and very granular actionable steps my guests have taken to get to where they are today and how you too can do the same. While I am putting all this in place, I will keep you company in the next episodes with my own insights of what you might consider to do meaningful work and live a meaningful life. If there is a specific topic, you’d like me to discuss, please send me a message or comment under the show notes at www.francinebeleyi.com/podcast. I might pick your question to answer on the show; so don’t hesitate to send me your questions.

I mention at the end of the interview My Camino Walks #1 will be released on Kindle in two weeks. It's out now on Amazon. I wrote an article and the foreword. 20 pilgrim stories to enjoy and keep you Camino alive. It's cheap as chips and delightful. Buen Camino, Dan.
