In this episode, Nick Bolton, the founder and CEO of Animas Centre for Coaching and The International Centre for Coaching Supervision, joins Yannick Jacob, the podcast host, as they look back on the last season of Coaching Uncaged. They'll share their takeaways from the 11 inspiring conversations in Season 14. Whether they're discussing diversity and inclusion, coaching using AI, taboo areas in coaching, or sharing the most interesting insights, Nick and Yannick will walk you through the highlights of the season. In Season 15, we have 12 excellent guests lined up. It will involve a deeper dive into specific coaching approaches.
In this podcast, Yannick shares how he believes coaching can play an important role for clients with an interest in using psychedelics. LSD and other psychedelics were popular in the 1960s with Timothy Leary being the guru of the age, but disrupting the field as well. At the time, psychedelics-assisted forms of therapy were first explored. Following the Nixon administration's declaration of a "war on drugs'', psychedelics have been marginalised and all research banned until the early 2000s saw a renaissance of psychedelics in the field of mental health treatment. Yannick explains how his interest was stimulated by emerging clinical research and how he started to make relevant connections to positive psychology and coaching. In this episode, he lays out his argument of why psychedelics could be used for learning, growth and well-being, and not just as a treatment for illness, and why coaching might be an ideal partner in this endeavour. In the process, Yannick describes his journey which leads to ethical questions, social questions and also questions about coaching itself. Enjoy this edgy edition of Edgy Ideas! Andrea Hunt Transformational Coaching A bit about me as a life coach: I am a supportive motivator as a coach, and I've always loved being around people from all over the world. I'm a transformational life coach and happy to help you reach your goals for a richer, more fulfilling life. Likewise, I help people understand gain self awareness so they can figure out what's keeping them stuck, which limiting beliefs hold them back, or what emotional meets are not getting met so they can understand how to create better boundaries and standards in their relationships. In particular, I can help you when you're at that point of saying 'Enough!' - I want something better! Personal growth has always been important to me as I have overcome many struggles, whether familiar, with my personal relationships, professional, or challenging many old patterns and beliefs. I'm American and lived most of my life in the US in Minnesota and Georgia. Over the years, I have worked or studied abroad in Mexico, Argentina, Italy, the UK, China, and Germany and been a full time expat since 2006. Over the last two decades, I have traveled all over, studied 4 other languages, met new people and recreated my life in different countries. I love travel, people, and new cultures and languages, not to mention all the new food. I understand the challenges that expats face relocating, living and working abroad, finding social circles and nurturing relationships, as well as the personal struggles that can accompany this brave journey to move abroad. My professional background is in International Communications and the last 8 years I have lived in Munich following a big move from Beijing, China. Over the years, I have worked in international radio, online media, and marketing. I love helping people, so it only made sense that I would find purpose in life coaching. I'm an accredited transformational life coach from Animas Centre for Coaching UK and a member of the International Coaching Federation. I'm also a Level 2 practitioner in EFT Tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) and a member of AEFTP (Association of Emotional Freedom Technique Professionals). --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/gabrielolguin/message

In this podcast, Nick and Simon go on an intriguing journey that explores coaching from different perspectives. Nick shares his experiences of what is called ‘life coaching' and reflects on how this differs, and shares common ground with, executive coaching and other forms of helping relationships such as counselling and psychotherapy. Nick believes that coaching is a new configuration, built on the shoulders of giants i.e. it draws from the well of knowledge and practices from psychology, psychotherapy and more. Yet he also claims that coaching delivers its support to others in a new way, and also that it has created a new and different client group. Contemporary society demands a lot emotionally and psychologically and navigating our way through ‘life coaching' has emerged because it can be beneficial in this domain. Those who are attracted to life coaching aren't typically experiencing their lives as dysfunctional or suffering in a way that might attract them to psychotherapy or counselling. This opens up a new space to explore and leads to new conversations, methods and insights. In this fascinating podcast, what it means to be human emerges to be at the centre of Nick's work. Nick Bolton is the founder and CEO of Animas Centre for Coaching and the International Centre for Coaching Supervision. With a particular interest in the role of coaching in helping individuals navigate existential issues and the complexities of 21st-century life, Nick combines a solution-focused approach with a deeper inquiry into the client's worldview which contributes to, though isn't exclusively responsible for, the conditions or dilemmas they are facing. Nick is an avid lifelong learner and recognises that anything he says today merely reflects his limited thinking in the moment. He considers that a wise disclaimer for any foolishness he says along the way!
I think it's a fantasy that we add value by trying to add value, because trying to add too much value impacts partnership. I'm discovering more and more that there's no end to the work that we can do and the work we can let go of to be fully working in partnership. Claire Pedrick. I established 3D Coaching in the 1990s to bring together the simplest and best learning from coaching to support people in organisations to have more effective conversations with an edge. Coaching for more than 30 years, I believe that the essence of coaching is simple and that it takes time to learn to work that simply. My training has been as a coach (Coach University), as a Systemic Practitioner (Coaching Constellations) and a Coaching Supervisor (Bath Consulting Group). While the rest of the 3D Team are delivering high quality coaching, my current focus is developing internal and external coaches through training, masterclasses and mentoring. My learning lab is the coaches I listen to three days a week. Based on those observations and noticing when transformation does or does not happen, my current learning journey is about understanding and sharing what makes for true partnership in coaching. Robert Stephenson no longer carries trinkets in his pockets. His need to wear crystals that represent his spirituality has lessened. This, he says, is because he has come to embody the meaning of those items in his very being. This shift has characterised an important period in Robert's life, in which he has departed from his role as director of Animas Centre for Coaching and launched his own coaching business, Fan the Flames Ltd.Robert talks about openly and honestly about why he left Animas and the impact this change has had on him, and he describes how he has truly stepped into his power since his first appearance on The Coach's Journey Podcast in July 2021. Back then, Animas provided a framework – or scaffolding – for Robert's work. So what happened when that scaffolding was no longer present? Our conversation explores Robert's transformation in depth, offering valuable lessons about how to manage change and how to grasp opportunities that arise when our circumstances change.Robert explains how he made decisions led by intuition, discovered through play, or inspired by dreams, as he took ownership of his future while embracing his "nowness". In this episode, we talk about:Recognising change in ourselvesWhat are the stabilisers we use in our lives? And can we take them off?Embracing endings and managing changeListening to our bodies and accessing our deeper knowledgeHow to move "from loss to legacy"Robert also talks about the courage it takes to remove the masks we wear in our lives and careers, and the new ways people relate to us when we show up as ourselves. To learn more about Robert, visit https://www.linkedin.com/in/robert-stephenson-2491a21/ or listen to his first appearance on the podcast https://www.thecoachsjourney.com/podcast/episode-27-robert-stephenson-animas-how-to-say-yes-and-become-a-conduit-for-change For information about my wider work, my writing or to buy my books, visit www.robbieswale.com.Music by My Good Man William: listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4KmeQUcTbeE31uFynHQLQgTo support the Coach's Journey, visit www.patreon.com/thecoachsjourney and to join the Coach's Journey Community visit www.thecoachsjourney.com/community. Saying yes has shaped Robert Stephenson's life. Accepting opportunities and seeing where they took him propelled Robert as he became a trained actor, a narrative coach, and the director of Animas Centre for Coaching - one of Europe's largest coaching schools. While this optimistic disposition has guided him through a career that he thinks of as "a quest", he has not shied away from difficult conversations around diversity, inclusion, and even climate within the coaching space. He shares his own experiences to help create vital dialogue that is free from shame and embarrassment, and to break down barriers in the industry. He now leads a coaching community at Animas that is constantly evolving as its many thousands of members learn and grow, and is the host of the Coaching Uncaged podcast.Robert draws on his theatrical roots as he brings the spirit of improvisation and creativity to coaching, helping people channel their passion, work from their emotions, and live their stories. In this episode, we talk about:The vital role of creativity in coachingRecognising that coaching moves at a separate speed from the world and how jarring it can be to move from on speed to anotherThe Hero's Journey and the narratives we are all part of (or think we are)The power of saying yes and how Robert decides whether to say yes or noMaking room for improvisation and experimentation as we build our coaching businessesWhy Robert is so energised by conversations about diversity and inclusion in coaching, and how he has brought his coaching skills to those conversationsRobert also speaks articulately about his journey as a leader, his role in the spectacular growth of Animas, and how he and his colleagues inspire and motivate the community. For more information about Robert, visit: https://www.animascoaching.com/about-animas/our-team/robert-stephenson/ or https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/coaching-uncaged/id1326900151 The Inclusion Summit Robert mentions in the episode is set to happen in August 2021 on Thursday evenings.
