Regularly we are seeing celebrities that are known for bringing light into the room being the ones taking their own lives. From Robin Williams to Kate Spade to more recently Twitch. It seems confusing. These are the people that make everyone happy. How is it that they are the ones committing suicide. It's not what we expect. As someone who has struggled with depression and suicide ideation I thought this was an important issue to talk about. My guest Kelly Gregory of Arena Counseling joined to have this conversation about what leads to suicidal thoughts and actions, the impact of these acts on loved ones and more. And we discuss my own issues with the darkness that led to my own attempts on my life. This episode goes deep and might be triggering for some but it's important information we can all use. We as usual have a cocktail during this episode but please remember that alcohol is a depressant and should not be used for self medication. Please contact a mental health specialist if you are suffering from any of the things discussed in this episode.SEASON 3 EPISODE 5 COCKTAIL RECIPE | Summer Sangria - 4 oz Pino Grigio - 1/2 oz Simple Syrup- 1/2 oz Peach Schnapps- 1/2 oz Triple Sec- 1 oz Apricot Brandy- 3 oz Club Soda- 1/2 oz St Germains- 1/2 Lime - 1/2 Lemon- Grapes for garnishFor all the latest contests and happening behind the scenes:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Karas-Lipsti... I Can't Explain it but sometimes I just feel Helpless. Like I'm on The Other Side of Life . Like I'm Out on the Weekend and it's Beggar's Day, and I'm wonderin', Where Do the Children Play? And then I see the Cowgirl in the Sand sippin' Apricot Brandy and singin' the Jackson-Kent Blues For the Turnstiles! It's weird, man. At times like that I look Up From the Skies and remember, I'm on the Third Stone From the Sun.
If someone told you that they were going to source rye whiskey from existing stocks in Tennessee, Indiana, and Canada and then finish that whiskey in Martinique rum, Madeira, and Apricot Brandy barrels — what do you think it would taste like? For our 65th episode, we explore Barrell Craft Spirits award winning rye whiskey named “Seagrass.” Will this offering live up to the hype and accolades its received or leave us perplexed about what we are drinking? Tune in this week to hear how Steven acquired this bottle and be ready to laugh along with us as we contemplate if our palates and minds are complex enough to handle this complex pour. -------------------------- Socials IG: https://www.instagram.com/themashupky FB: https://www.facebook.com/themashupky TW: https://twitter.com/themashupky Music: All the Fixings by Zachariah Hickman Thank you so much for listening!
Over 40% of women are sexually assaulted. That is who reports. In a culture where sexual assault and rape are so common often times survivors have trouble accepting their assaults. They are often in denial or try to push it down in their memory or they blame themselves. But all of this leads to mental health issues, trust issues, sexual issues, PTSD, low self esteem, anxiety, depression and more. My guest Taylor Burch-Rosin, a fellow sexual assault survivor, and I discuss the healing processes we have both undergone after our own assaults. We all go through different ways of healing. Sexual assault is devastating. Survivors are often not believed, blamed and the rapists rights are often viewed as more important than the woman who were violated rights, needs and future. It's time to help women. It's time to stop keeping the secrets of those who cause harm. It's time to heal, to find our voices, and hold those who assault accountable for their actions. This is not our shame to keep secret. This is theirs and we will not stay silent. We must speak out and start to heal. After years of denial about what I have lived through, plus self blame and down playing it all to just being normal and what happens to women, I was suffering from PTSD and anxiety. This led to suicidal depression that and many sexual and relationship issues, as well as, health problems from the trauma. Finally in 2019 I started therapy ready to figure out the root of my issues and then in 2021 I started the process of reprogramming my nervous system through EMDR therapy. Both of these things have been life changing. While high-alcohol spirits have stolen the spotlight for the last century, Liqueurs are often relegated to the dark corners. Yet Liqueurs are a crucial ingredient for bartenders and most well balenced cocktails. By using the produce of Australian farmers, Marionette are not only shining a light on the fine tradition of liqueurs but also the farmers that produce the fruits, nut, herbs and spices that go into them. The brand has six liqueurs, all designed with the modern bartender in mind. We speak to Nick Tesar from Marionette about their range, the farmers that grow their produce and some of the cocktails that work well with these fruity concoctions.
