It was a scary Halloween on Wall Street and we'll kick that story out first. Also a bit of something unique. While most kids in the U.S. Trick or Treat on Halloween that's not been the case here in Iowa for decades. You see, back in 1938 some kids wandered around tipping over outhouses and so the decision was made to move trick or treating to "Beggars Night" which it the night BEFORE Halloween. (Like that might slow outhouse tipping.) Odd...we know. However because heavy storms raced through the Greater Des Moines Metro yesterday the night to Trick or Treat is actually tonight. It's a win for traditionalists. But please, no outhouse tipping...which is pretty impossible because we don't have them. And, on that note, if you want to reach out to us on social media you can hook up with us all day on Twitter or "X" @IOB_NewsHour and on Instagram. Facebook? Sure were there too. Here's what we've got for you today: The Scary Reality on Wall Street; A World Series win means rioting in LA; New inflation numbers are in and we'll share; Claims for unemployment are down yet again; Meanwhile wages are up; The 30-Year Fixed Mortgage Rate is also up; Boeing and the 8,000% increase for a soap dispenser; Another recall notice but this time it isn't food; The Wall Street Report; How about surfing the Web using...AI? In celebration of the season we're covering Bob Clark's 1974 #slasher Black Christmas. Before Halloween, this terrifying picture laid out the blueprint for the modern slasher (if slasher movies are your bag, check out episode 34 of our podcast, a slasher special). A sick, sick individual is prank calling a sorority, and murdering the inhabitants. It's atmospheric, with a bit of dark humor, and some great camerawork. Thanks for listening! Check out our website SUBSCRIBE: to the show on Apple Podcast or Google Play. You can also find us on Audible, Stitcher, Spotify, and Listen Notes. Follow us on Instagram , Facebook, and Twitter! Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to Epi 327 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. I am your host for the duration of this program and I've got some clips for you…as this is a "clips" episode of Succotash. Last week in Episode 326, Executive Producer and creator of this 11+ years-old soundcast, Marc Hershon, sat down with returning guest Dana Carvey to talk about his upcoming soundcast "The Weird Place" amongst other things. It's a pretty entertaining time as always, and you can still find that episode to listen to over at our homesite www.succotashshow.com or wherever you might usually find the soundcasts you listen to, including where you found us…assuming that you found us at Stitcher, Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Deezer, iHeart Radio, and even Spotify apparently. But, that was last episode, and this is this episode, and this episode has clips from various soundcasts from around the internet, specifically Add to Cart, I, Podius, and 2 Spooky 2 Handle. I've also got a classic FAKE advertisement from our faithful, longtime FAKE sponsor Henderson's Pants for you that has proved to be pretty evergreen…somewhat unfortunately in spots. I will let you decide for yourself what those unfortunate spots are. Alright, without further delay, let's get to the clips… Add to Cart with Kulap Vilaysack & SuChin PakI think this is the first soundcast I've clipped from Lemonada Media. "Here's what the show's official description has to say: Join the hosts of Add to Cart, comedian-writer-director Kulap Vilaysack and veteran journalist SuChin Pak, in a subversive take on consumerism. Each week, they have honest, revealing (sometimes TMI) conversations about all the big and little things they're adding to, or removing from, their carts. They decide what's worth the monetary/emotional investment, and what's not. From beauty products and health trends, to celebrities and philosophies they're passionate about, our hosts dig into anything we buy into and what it says about who we are." This clip is from the recently aired episode that dropped on September 27th of this year, entitled "Add to Cart: Baby" And host Ku has some personal news. With a full heart (and cart), she's getting ready to welcome home a new member of the family! And of course, she's sharing what's in her cart for this life-changing occasion. (Please note, Add To Cart contains mature themes and may not be appropriate for all listeners.) I, Podius A twelve episode weekly series, I,, Podius, featureshosts John Hodgman and Elliott Kalan recapping the BBC miniseries I, Claudius, an adaptation of Robert Graves' "I, Claudius" and "Claudius the God". The gimmick? John's watched the show before. Elliott's watching for the first time. The miniseries features an obscenely talented ensemble cast, and is chock full of sex, backstabbing and murder. This ain't your daddy's I, Claudius!. Well, actually it is as the series premiered in 1976. But this ain't your daddy's I, Claudius-based podcast! Parental discretion advised. Our clip is from the very first episode, "A Touch of Murder"/"Family Affairs", which dropped back on February 17th of 2020 - just about a month before all the COVID trouble started. Earwolf Presents: 2 Spooky 2 HandleFrom the show's description: "Are you tingling 4 terror? Slutty 4 slashers? Freaky 4 fright?! Mano Agapion and Betsy Sodaro are bringing you their classic, stupid love of all things horror all month long to Earwolf Presents! There will be possessed dolls, haunted houses, updates from your favorite monsters, and the ultimate villain showdown in our March Madness style SCARY BOWL! Follow @Earwolf on Twitter for more #2Spooky2Handle updates!" This clip hails from just back around the corner a few weeks - October 6th of this month, to be exact. It's called "Ghost Haunting is Like Dating". In the first episode of this special spooky series, hosts Betsy and Mano buy a possessed doll to haunt Earwolf Studios, check in with their favorite monsters (featuring Lauren Lapkus), and decide on the ultimate villain in the SCARY HORNY BOWL. And there it went, the last episode of Succotash. That I will be hosting. Before Halloween 2022. Because the next time I host it will be into November. Recently, I released an October Special Non-Sequential episode of Anti Social Show, which I co-host with Hunter Block, and we made a video-only episode specifically for YouTube. It is an exploration of Halloween Themed A.I. art that I generated in advance of our recording. You can find that episode at www.tysonsaner.com or you can go to YouTube and Google my name and Halloween and the show I am talking about should pop up where you can find it. Next week in Episode 328, Marc will be back to bring you something else to listen to that is most likely to be entertaining in some way to you. In the meantime, if you liked what you heard from us, there is a LOT more hearing to be had…or heard…in our back catalog. It goes back 11 years. You might also consider giving us a decent review in whatever format your particular listening platform makes available for that specific function. And hey…if someone asks you if you have heard anything good or interesting lately, and either of those stipulations makes you think of us…won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner

The most occur on Halloween night...while dealing with cars and walking the dark. But many happen before the actual trick or treat day. You need to tell me the Top 4 main causes of October injuries BEFORE Halloween begins... In no particular order.

Before Halloween 2017, I had the crazy idea to be an everything bagel with lox. When I looked online to find if anyone had done it before I stumbled among What Jew Wanna Eat . com and a picture of Amy Kritzer in the same costume...exactly as I had imagined. What did I do? Well of course, with the help of my girlfriend at the time, we got the supplies and made my costume DUH Then, as we all do, I posted a picture of me with my Jewish bagel costume on the IG the Following Day Amy Kritzer commented on my photo and reposted my post... this was my first time experiencing that well-known people were in communication with me. I reached out to Amy about my own blog and kippah company that I would like to create and she has been very helpful ever since. With Hanukkah just around the corner... even closer MAN I reached out to Amy to see how she became the creative person behind whatjewwannaeat.com! Amy kritzer is the founder of What Jew Wanna Eat an online website with all things jewish and cool because being Jewish is COOL. She is also the author of Sweet Noshings a cook book with new twists on traditional jewish desserts. HEY MOM you still need to make me the chocolate peanut butter babka!! She has appeared on several web features and mentions indluding the NY Times, Wall street journal, NPR, Soulcycle and domino and more. Check out her article THE BEST SHAKSHUKA RECIPES from March 2017! In addition to whatjewwannaeat.com she has also recently become the owner of moderntribe.com your quick shop of Jewish things in modern designs. If you're like my family... or any other jewish family that procrastinates... you can still shop on the site for great Hanukkah gifts like my Yamaclaus kipaah.... or a Dog Yarmukle and Tallis... or even THE KIPPAH a $36,000 Diamond Yarmulke... WOW Or a shirt with Jew Chainz Anyways... I reached out to Amy to discuss how she made the jump from her corporate job to putting full focus on her blog and company, in addition to getting ready for Hanukkah. In this episode, you will catch me repeating the word NICE and asking Amy relevant questions I have been pondering in my life that I hope offer questions or answers to you as well. What really helped me out is that at minute 15 she mentioned that things change very quickly and she got to a point right before her book deal that she nearly went back to her corporate job... then the following week she got an offer! One key takeaway is to step away and then come back to work when things are not working, getting inspired by stepping out of your comfort zone and doing something different than you normally would. I really hope you enjoy this episode as you get ready for Hanukkah starting the night of December 2! Thanks to Amy, my family now only has 7 gifts to get me ;)

HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome back, thanks for listening, sharing and connecting with me on social media! What's the result? The result of what? Your actions, consistency and dedication to FINISHING THE YEAR STRONG! So, how have you done with the challenge I put on all of you? [The "do one thing each day toward an unfinished goal"?] Are you being consistent? I realize even myself that it's hard to fit it all in! I missed one day and that was because I really wanted to get my Halloween decorations up BEFORE Halloween and, well and stop avoiding house cleaning that I despise! I heard from some people on many different things they were doing and the result of their action. Consistency is key, right?! You'll have to listen in to hear what they did as well as what has come from MY CONSISTENT ACTION on ALL THREE of my challenges! It's truly amazing to hear from people, not just because I know a couple people listened, but to see how people are growing personally and professionally. It's great to see people taking action and invest in themselves. What about you? Are you taking action? Email me what you're doing AND the result. If NOT... what's going on? Stuck? Overwhelmed? Click here to schedule a time to talk. I guarantee I help you get refocused, back on-track and FINISH THE YEAR STRONG! Yes, I GUARANTEE! And if you aren't sure what I'm talking about, click here to listen to last week's podcast! Have a great week and I look forward to hearing from you! Cheers! Sandi
Whether it is for vengeance or to cover up illegal activities, it is going to be a long night for the closing Precinct 13 that none may survive. Before Halloween, before the Fog, before Escape from New York, before The Thing, John Carpenter made the low budget, action, thriller Assault On Precinct 13 (1976). A simple idea that was inspired by Romero's Night of the Living Dead as a faceless gang lays siege to a closing precinct. In 2005 based on a screenplay by James (The Purge) DeMonaco, Jean-Francois Richet would remake Carpenter's classic with an all-star cast including Ethan Hawke, Laurence Fishburne, Gabriel Byrne, Maria Bello, Drea de Matteo, John Leguizamo, Brian Dennehy, and rapper Ja Rule. This week Invasion of the Remake gets inside Precinct 13 to compare, contrast, and ultimately see which film will survive the Assualt on Precinct 13. For the first time in years, we're going pretty deep into video games on this show! We also chronicle our first experience getting some legit ramen in the city. So much more! Please to enjoy.
