It's a double episode on Lakers Weekend as major gambling outlets have the Lakers at 44.5 wins. Is this correct? Should it be lower or higher? Tune in as the guys from lakerholics.com share thoughts and explain how much the gambling sharks are right or wrong. Are the Lakers looking squarely at a mediocre season? PLUS we continue a very active Saturday as Team USA prepared for the Olympics with a tuneup against South Sudan. But with the team failing to defend Sudan's hot shooting, it took a Lebron James layup with eight seconds left to escape with a 101-100 victory. Back in Vegas, the Lakers finally wrapped up their Summer League with a consolation game against the Chicago Bulls. And with Dalton Knecht, Bronny James, and Maxwell Lewis out of the lineup, the Lakers seemed hungry and ready to leave Las Vegas with a victory as they sped off early behind Blake Hinson's 21 first-half points to cruise to a 107-81 victory. It looks like Gerald is solo today as he breaks down the concern for Team USA after another unfocused effort, and what the Lakers can take after a 3-5 record this summer. When people wonder which players could have, or should have, been picked ahead of Bronny James in the 2024 NBA draft, we only need to look at specific players who are thriving in NBA summer basketball. One such player is playing for the Lakers in summer ball. Blake Hinson clearly looks like a player who is a lot more advanced in his development than Bronny James. That's not a knock on Bronny, just a basic observation that Hinson is better right now. Hinson is an undrafted 6-foot-7, 235-pound guard the Lakers signed to a two-way contract. He made a curious comment when he said he feels he “could be like a Klay Thompson” if he reaches his ceiling. His one skill is 3-point shooting, and he excelled in that area on Saturday. He went 5-of-7 from that distance, resulting in 17 points in 19 minutes. The Lakers need more accurate volume 3-point shooters, and if Hinson turns out to be their latest undrafted gem, it would greatly help their chances of going deep in the playoffs this coming season.

The Duke Blue Devils lost over the weekend to the Pitt Panthers, and we recap what went wrong on Episode 584. With Jason somewhere in the deep blue sea, Donald welcomes Sam Klein back home to the show to help break down what happened against Pitt. Sam was at the game, so after discussing the headlines and some of the good performances, we dive into the stuff that led to the bad loss against the Panthers. Blake Hinson was hitting everything, but while there was a lot of fight from the Blue Devils, there wasn't that sharp play throughout the game. Another slow start that is starting to unfortunately become too much of a routine proved to be the difference. After the break, Duke turns around and heads to the Yum! Center on Tuesday to take on the Louisville Cardinals. We preview what to expect in that matchup and how Duke needs to turn it around quickly against the worst team in the ACC and needs to do it with a fast start and consistent energy and intensity. We end the show by congratulating Tara VanDerveer on her 1203rd win as a coach, which passes Coach K for the most all time. Make sure you're following us!
