Jack Harvey had a stellar run in the junior categories of open-wheel racing on his way up to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. He's a former British F3 champ and is a winner on both the oval and road course at Indianapolis in the INDY NXT by Firestone series. In the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, he spent the majority of his time at Meyer Shank Racing before he moved to the Rahal Letterman Lannigan team. Unfortunately, the promise showed at MSR was never realized at RLL. In 2024, Dale Coyne rang up Harvey to offer him a ride which he happily took alongside a revolving line-up of co-drivers. We caught up with him at the 2024 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach where he was celebrating his birthday and his new ride. In this interview, he talks about the importance of how to develop relationships within a team. He also recalls the incredible run to be the final Indy 500 qualifier the year prior. Fast forward to 2025, and he's now a pit reporter on the Fox TV race broadcasts, however, he'll also be back behind the wheel for this year's Indianapolis 500 with Dreyer and Reinbold Racing with Cusick Motorsports. A talented driver, a true gentleman of the sport, and also quite talented behind the microphone, Jack Harvey is one to watch both on the track and off. Enjoy!
What does it take to turn tragedy into triumph? This week on The Runna Podcast, we sit down with Billy Monger—a racing prodigy turned endurance athlete whose resilience has shattered expectations. At just 10 years old, Billy was a rising star in motorsport, winning the British Championship and competing in British F4. But in 2017, at just 17 years old, his life changed in an instant after a high-speed crash at Donington Park left him in a coma for three days and resulted in the amputation of both legs.Rather than letting his story end there, Billy fought back, proving that no obstacle is too great to overcome and his mindset is admirable. We spoke about:
Takuma Sato is a two-time Indianapolis 500 winner and also won the 2013 Grand Prix of Long Beach for AJ Foyt Racing. At the 2024 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach Motorsports Walk of Fame Induction ceremony he (along with Katherine Legge) became the latest inductee. Sato has won races all over the world when he competed in F3 including a British F3 championship and a win at the prestigious Macau Grand Prix. His Formula One career was mainly with underfunded teams however he managed a podium finish at the USGP at Indianapolis. Sato has always been a popular guy at Long Beach. We caught up with him soon after the LBMWoF ceremony and he filled us in on his preparation for the Indy 500 with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, stories from the past, and his preparation for this year's ‘Greatest Spectacle of Racing.' He also gave us an update on ‘With You Japan' which started as a relief effort due to the effects of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan back in 2011. He's humble, respectful and nice off the track, yet his “No attack, no chance” attitude on the track makes him a fierce competitor. Enjoy!
Jack Harvey has won nearly a dozen championships in his career including the prestigious British F3 championship in 2012. He finished runner-up in the Indy Lights championship in both 2014 and 2015. He's one of only six drivers to have won on both the Indianapolis road course and the oval where he took those wins in Indy Lights. Moving from the Meyer Shank NTT IndyCar Series team to Rahal Letterman Lanigan has proven to be quite challenging for both him and the team. We caught up with Harvey as he was taking some photos of his girlfriend Gracie Norton just off of the red carpet at the 100 Days To Indy Premiere just prior to the 2023 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. He talks about the mental aspect of staying positive and how he wants to continue to motivate the team, work hard, and be competitive for the rest of the season. Candid and stoic, you can tell that Harvey is extremely motivated to return to qualifying well and finishing on the podium. Enjoy! NOTE: At Indianapolis, major drama unfolded as he bumped his teammate Graham Rahal out of the race with time expiring on the clock to qualify 33rd. After the August 12, 2023 road course race at Indy, Harvey was released from RLL with three races left to run in the season. Part of the team statement from Bobby Rahal reads: “First, I would like to thank Jack Harvey for all of his efforts on behalf of RLL for the last year and a half. He committed fully to the team, but for whatever reason, we weren't able to achieve the results that he or the team deserves, and we wish him well in the future.” Where will he end up? Only time will tell. We wish him the best. By Larry Mason Copyright © 2023 Larry Mason
We're talking to Tickford Racing team principal Tim Edwards on this week's episode of the V8 Sleuth Podcast. In the first part of a two-part chat, he talks about his dad's history in The Great Race and his own long history with Ford. He also talks about his sudden move overseas to pursue a career in motorsport with Aussie ex-pat Alan Docking, which linked him up with Mika Salo – and Tim tells a hilarious story about the press ‘junket' in Finland where Salo announced his British F3 program to the Finnish media. He also talks about moving into Formula 1 with Jordan and shares some tales from his decade with the team, like the time eponymous team boss Eddie Jordan did a deal for a British rock star to use the team's HQ as his band's practice space ahead of a tour, being present for Michael Schumacher's first F1 test in 1991, as well as being in the truck when Ayrton Senna punched Eddie Irvine after the 1993 Japanese Grand Prix! Tim also talks about moving home to Australia and getting out of motorsport, only to begin another stint in the sport that continues to this day. Helio Castroneves says that destiny guided his glittering IndyCar career that's crowned by a record-equalling four Indy 500 wins, but the path to glory was far from straightforward. He speaks to Chris Medland in the opening episode from season two of our Big Break podcast series, charting the make-or-break moments that shaped top-level racers, engineers and managers.Ahead of this year's Indy 500, Castroneves recalls his early dreams of racing in Formula 1, graduating from karting in Brazil to living in Milton Keynes in British F3, and then the conversation with his sponsor that brought him to the unfamiliar ladder to IndyCar.That journey was studded with challenge, tragedy and a court case with Emerson Fittipaldi — plus a 14-week run to victory on Dancing with the Stars, that is credited with bringing an extra 1m viewers to IndyCar.Now in search of a record-equalling fifth Indy 500 win, Castroneves says that the sky's the limit, with no thoughts of retirement. When we're in this business [of racing], it's our life, it's what we do, it's the air that I breathe," he says. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Welcome back for another installment of Chasing the Apex! Today I'm sitting down with a good friend of mine, Enaam Ahmed. While Enaam has spent most of his racing career in Europe, this past year he made a big jump by coming across the pond to compete in the IndyPro 2000 series. In this episode, we discuss how COVID-19 made this season a logistical challenge, how Enaam had to change his racing style, and why he decided to come to the United States in the first place. I hope you enjoy our discussion and find Enaam to be an entertaining guest! Social Media Links: https://linktr.ee/chasingtheapex
The UK's junior single-seater landscape is set to change for 2022, with new cars being introduced and even a new series launching next year. The GB3 Championship – which was previously known as British F3 until a mid-season name change enforced by the FIA – has bridged the gap between British F4 and FIA F3 for several years. It will introduce a new machine for its upcoming campaign, the Tatuus MSV-022, which will offer more power and downforce as well as the inclusion of a halo head-protection device. MotorSport Vision which runs the series has also announced a new championship for 2022 – the GB4 Championship – has been created as an entry-level into single-seaters and is open 15-year-olds. Autosport Deputy National Editor Stefan Mackley and Autosport National Editor Stephen Lickorish discuss the changes with the second part of a UK single-seater podcast special. They are joined by MSV CEO and ex-Formula 1 driver Jonathan Palmer to discuss both the new car and championship, as well as what it could mean for the future of young drivers working their way up the motorsport ladder.
The four finalists who will contest the 2021 Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award have been selected. This week on the podcast we're talking to each driver individually, and hearing about their story so far. Previous winners include 2009 F1 world champion Jenson Button, 13-time grand prix winner David Coulthard, current F1 drivers Lando Norris and George Russell, triple Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti, and 2014 World Endurance champion Anthony Davidson. My guest today is a racer through and through. Tatiana Calderon has driven karts, single-seaters, GT and LMP cars across the world and has been the ‘first woman' in so many instances that I lost count. Born in Colombia, karting since nine-years-old, her path has taken her to British F3, European F3, Macau, World Series 3.5, GP3, Formula E, Formula 2, Le Mans… If it's on a track and has four wheels, I'm pretty sure she's driven it. Her reputation as a fierce competitor precedes her, though our common friends are united in saying that she is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. I hope you enjoy our chat together, I learnt so much about determination, strength, passion and kindness while talking to Tatiana. I hope you will too. An incredible story from the man who almost had F1 at his feet! Today we're delighted to be joined by former Formula One driver turned DJ Jaime Alguersuari. The Spanish born star navigated through Italian Formula 1600 before winning the Italian Formula Renault Winter Series. He moved to British F3 alongside Brendon Hartley and other big names on his way to winning the title at 18 years old. It was while he was halfway through a Formula Renault 3.5 season that he was drafted into F1 mid-season with Toro Rosso, where he stayed for the rest of 2009, 2010 and 2011 before leaving the team at the same time as a former podcast guest Sebastien Buemi. Like Sebastien, Jaime then made his way to Formula E before putting his efforts into music and becoming a chart topping DJ! My guest today is a champion. Figuratively, of course, but importantly, she is a champion in the literal sense of the word too. She is the 2015 British GT Champion for GT4, the MRF Challenge Champion for the 2018-2019 season and became the inaugural W Series Champion in 2019. She is also breaking new grounds: the youngest ever British GT Champion at the time, as well as the first female to win it. She is the first woman to win a British F3 race, that victory came at Brands Hatch in 2018. And the first woman to win the MRF Challenge too. To top it all off, she is part of the Williams F1 Academy and is the team's Development Driver, and has begun earning points for the all important FIA Super License through her successful participation in the F3 Asian Championship. I haven't actually listed all her accomplishments here as it would likely make this introduction longer than our actual chat. Suffice to say that this week's guest is very very good at what they do. My guest today is seriously amazing Jamie Chadwick.Check out Jamie online:Her official website: jamiechadwickracing.comInstagram: @JamieChadwick55Twitter: @JamieChadwick55You can contact me via @Pandea on Instagram. You can support the podcast via supporter.acast.com/racinglives.
