Felix Rosenqvist has had another strong start to the IndyCar season with Meyer Shank Racing, and is part of an equally strong line-up on this week's episode of The Race IndyCar Podcast. Among other things, Rosenqvist discusses Shank's high-profile tie-up with the team that has won four of the last five IndyCar championships - Chip Ganassi racing. He outlines how the relationship is working in practice, how it's impacted results, and suggests where he thinks Ganassi is ahead of McLaren, the team Shank used to have an alliance with. Jack Harvey also joins the show to discuss his new role as a pitlane reporter, plus his preparations for the Indy 500 where he'll race for Dreyer & Reinbold in May, plus his desire to return to full-time racing. Welcome in for another edition of the Morning Espresso from the SDH Network, brought to you by Oglethorpe University, Atlanta's premier undergraduate learning experience and soccer powerhouse. Anders Dreyer was named the MLS Player of the Matchday yesterday after his brace in San Diego's impressive win over the LA Galaxy. Atlanta United's Latte Lath was named to the Team of the Matchday alongside Dreyer. MLS clubs are finding cash in Brazil with a number of recent transfers. Santiago Rodriguez (NYC) and Micael (Houston) are the latest to go, Rodriguez for a reported $15M and Micael for a Houston-record $6M. The market in Brazil is strong right now, and after Botafogo's success with MLS recruits helping them win the Copa Libertadores, this will only happen more often. Canadian international Adrianna Leon is back in the NWSL with the San Diego Wave after leaving West Ham. Jose Mourinho is in the headlines again after his post-match comments following his Fenerbahce side drew 0-0 with Galatasaray. He once again had derogatory statements about Turkish referees, even though the center ref in this match was brought in from Slovenia. Asked about a challenge early in the match, he said a Turkish referee would have reacted with a yellow card “after the big dive and their bench jumping around like monkeys.” Galatasaray said they would initiate criminal proceedings and file complaints with UEFA & FIFA over the "racist statements". Robert Platek, with links to Dell Technologies, is the latest to be linked with buying Reading FC. He recently sold Spezia in Italy and previously tried to buy Sunderland. Big games today include the Copa del Rey semifinal between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, Copa Libertadores preliminary round second leg with Boca Juniors hosting Alianza Lima, Concacaf Champions Cup as Miami hosts Kansas City and LAFC hosts Colorado in second legs.

Miért ennyire különleges a Jean d'Arc szenvedései? Hogyan egyeztethető össze a filmben a realizmus és az expresszionizmus? Milyen módon használja a rendező a közeliket és a némafilm műfaji sajátosságait? Milyen szerepet játszik a film zenei aláfestése a befogadói élményben? Beszélgetésünk során nem csak a film technikai bravúrjait vizsgáljuk meg, hanem azt is, hogy miként képes egy 100 évvel ezelőtt készült alkotás ennyire erőteljes érzelmi hatást gyakorolni ránk. “You'd be amazed at how far you can get in life having no idea what the subjunctive mood is,” writes Benjamin Dreyer, retired managing editor and copy chief of the Random House division of Penguin Random House. “As if it's not bad enough that English has rules, it also has moods.” Yes, it does. Happily, the mood of the room for writers in Benjamin's good hands as a copyeditor was cheerful and patient and winning… and, for the most part, grammatically correct. Over the course of his 30+ years in publishing, he helped to shepherd the work of writers such as Michael Chabon, Edmund Morris, Suzan-Lori Parks, E.L. Doctorow, Elizabeth Strout, and Shirley Jackson into print. Somewhere in there, he also found time to write a book of his own: The New York Times best-selling stylebook Dreyer's English: An Utterly Correct Guide to Clarity and Style—a “brilliant, pithy, incandescently intelligent book [that] is to contemporary writing what Geoffrey Chaucer's poetry was to medieval English,” according to Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jon Meacham, another Random House author who benefited from our guest's unseen hand. Join us as Benjamin reflects on the collaborative role of the copyeditor in the publishing process, on the joys of creative footnoting, on the particularly lovely frustration of working with Isabella Rossellini, on a writer's lifetime allotment of exclamation points, and the excesses to be pruned from phrases like “assless chaps,” “slightly ajar,” and “passing fad.” (Note the ever-popular serial comma in the previous sentence, and the expenditure of one of those allotted exclamation points in this parenthetical aside!) Tonight, on the 2024 season finale of Trackside with Kevin Lee and Curt Cavin, they begin to look back at their favorite moments from the 2024 season. They talk about the latest in the Conor Daly and Polkadot plans for 2025 saga. The latest news comes as Daly had a chance for a full-time ride for Sam Hunt Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for 2025 and a one-off Indianapolis 500 ride once again with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing. But that deal has been voted down. They also talk about Dreyer & Reinbold Racing pursuing to get back to full-time racing in 2027 with the new chassis. Later in the first hour of the show, Kevin and Curt talk about who could get the remaining seats at Juncos Hollinger Racing and Dale Coyne Racing. They also talk about who could be available for any Indy 500 only rides, where Gavin Ward will land, where does Honda want to go moving forward, is Mexico City or other markets available, and who is going to be the commentators for FOX and race times. To wrap up the first hour of the program, Kevin previews the second hour and an incoming interview with Dave Calabro! To start the second hour of the show, Kevin and Curt talk about which IndyCar drivers will be competing in the Chili Bowl and the 24 Hours of Daytona along with Linus Lundqvist could end up for 2025. Later in the second hour of the program, Kevin and Curt are joined by Dave Calabro of WTHR and the PA announcer of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as he talks about his retirement at WTHR and gives advice to young adults in the media industry. Dave also talks about his past when he first started in the media. Having amassed more than 100 episodes in its run, PACCTS' sixth season will focus its sights on “the greatest films of all time” (both in the US and internationally), as assembled by the British Film Institute's 2022 Sight and Sound Poll of industry critics. Corey will be choosing American films from the list, and Paul will be choosing international ones. Our goal is to examine the films that are considered great, and why that may be the case. Ranked 21, Carl Th. Dreyer's The Passion of Joan of Arc (1927) is a masterpiece (unless you're Corey). With over 1500 shots, whereas most American films of the time had 100-500; unrelenting close-ups throughout; and ahead-of-its-time naturalistic performances; the film feels completely alien if you've ever watched other silent films. Paul and Corey discuss what works for them and what doesn't; the history of Joan of Arc and the Hundred Years' War; and whether this story (and the story of the Passion of Jesus) is even interesting. Whether you watch this film at 20 or 24 fps, Paul thinks you're in for a treat.
This week's episode: Dreyer & Reinbold Racing with Cusick Motorsports will enter Ryan Hunter-Reay and Jack Harvey in next year's Indy 500 and a look at the latest on silly season and 500 entries. Plus, with Cadillac F1 approved, what the impact of losing Colton Herta or Pato O'Ward to the team would be for IndyCar.
Tonight, on a truncated edition of Trackside, the two talk about their Thanksgiving weekends, and they talk about the approaching month of January and how the off season really ends there. They talk about Michael Cannon going to Prema Autosports for the 2025 season. Kevin talks about Jack Harvey possibly driving for Dreyer and Reinbold in the Indy 500. Later, Kevin and Curt talk about what F1 drivers could possibly end up racing in IndyCar in 2025, including Sergio Perez, Valtteri Bottas, and more. They also talk about who will compete in F1 for Cadillac, including Colton Herta and Perez. They also talk about backup drivers if Herta cannot compete in F1. To end the show, Kevin talks about how Jerry Seinfeld's Steve McQueen Le Mans car will go up for auction soon, and if Caitlin Clark will be involved in the 2025 Indy 500. Scott is a Baylor University School of Law Graduate and currently works as the Founder and Trial Lawyer of Snellings PLLC. Ever wonder what it's like to pivot from aspiring doctor to a lawyer, only to face one of life's biggest challenges just as you open your own law firm? In this episode, I sit down with Scott Snellings, who shares a deeply personal and professional story about reinvention, resilience, and creating meaningful success on his terms. We kick things off at Baylor University, where Scott initially set his sights on becoming a doctor. With a background in psychology and an EMT license under his belt, he seemed destined for medicine—until a D in Biology pushed him to rethink his path. This unexpected detour led him straight into the rigorous world of Baylor University School of Law, a completely different animal from any learning experience he'd encountered.Rather than chasing a niche specialization, Scott honed the meta-skill of learning itself—a decision that later became one of his biggest assets. His early interest in product liability landed him a role at Hartline, Dacus, Barger, Dreyer, and Kern, where he learned how to strategize, solve problems independently, and develop what he calls “the human side of the law.” Four years later, Scott decided it was time to bet on himself and open Snellings PLLC.But just two months into this new chapter, life threw him a curveball: he needed a kidney transplant. In a remarkable twist, his best friend turned out to be a perfect match. Scott returned to the firm with renewed energy and purpose, using his experience to shape a company culture grounded in core values and long-term vision. We also dive into The Driven Crowd Podcast, where Scott interviews high achievers to extract lessons on ambition, success, and personal growth. The podcast has not only enriched his personal development but has also become a powerful referral engine for his business. This conversation is more than just a career story—it's a masterclass in resilience, continuous learning, and building a life aligned with your values. Scott's journey from potential doctor to lawyer, through personal challenges and entrepreneurial success, is one you won't forget.Tune in to discover how setbacks can become turning points, and why core values are critical whether you're leading a law firm or hosting a podcast.Don't miss this episode—Scott's story will leave you inspired, motivated, and ready to tackle your own challenges head-on.Check out all of Scott's content, including his podcast and blog, below!Scott's LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/scott-snellingsScott's Podcast: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1945495Scott's Blog: https://snellingsinjurylaw.com/blog/Be sure to check out the Official Sponsors for the Lawyers in the Making Podcast:Rhetoric - takes user briefs and motions and compares them against the text of opinions written by judges to identify ways to tailor their arguments to better persuade the judges handling their cases. Benjamin Dreyer joins the show to talk about the joy of good writing. We talk about his career as managing editor and copy chief of the Random House, his post-retirement perspective on that role, the authors he enjoyed working with, the success of his first book, DREYER'S ENGLISH: An Utterly Correct Guide to Clarity and Style (Random House), and his plans for the followup, DREYER'S FICTION (!). We get into why he's leaving NYC and looking forward to Santa Monica (and talk about the books that he can leave behind and those he can't), the way that writing a Substack newsletter has made him a better writer, how the copy-editor's role is to enhance the writer's work, not to reshape it, whether his online persona changed after retirement, his love of digressive footnotes, how he feels about "weird" catching on this election season, whether the success of Dreyer's English surprised him, the moment he KNEW it was a hit, and what his authors had to teach him about the process of writing his first book. We also discuss the tension within the pronoun section of DE (c.2019), how he hopes to revise it, and why the mind needs to catch up with the soul sometimes. All this & a lot more, so go listen! This week Josh and Dru discuss the Carl Theodor Dryer classic, Vampyr. From wiki: “Vampyr (German: Vampyr – Der Traum des Allan Gray, lit. 'Vampyr: The Dream of Allan Gray') is a 1932 gothic horror film directed by Danish director Carl Theodor Dreyer. The film was written by Dreyer and Christen Jul based on elements from J. Sheridan Le Fanu's 1872 collection of supernatural stories In a Glass Darkly. Vampyr was funded by Nicolas de Gunzburg who starred in the film under the name of Julian West among a mostly non-professional cast. Gunzburg plays the role of Allan Gray, a student of the occult who enters the village of Courtempierre, which is under the curse of a vampire. “But also: The Challenger Explosion, abandoned summer camps, Big Bird, Pee Wee's Christmas Special, Kinds of Kindness, The Devils, Paperbacks from Hell, Black Ambrosia by Elizabeth Engstrom, and more!NEXT WEEK: The Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) Follow them across the internet:Bloodhaus:https://www.bloodhauspod.com/https://twitter.com/BloodhausPodhttps://www.instagram.com/bloodhauspod/Drusilla Adeline:https://www.sisterhydedesign.com/https://letterboxd.com/sisterhyde/Joshua Conkelhttps://www.joshuaconkel.com/https://www.instagram.com/joshua_conkel/https://letterboxd.com/JoshuaConkel/
