Jack Harvey had a stellar run in the junior categories of open-wheel racing on his way up to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. He's a former British F3 champ and is a winner on both the oval and road course at Indianapolis in the INDY NXT by Firestone series. In the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, he spent the majority of his time at Meyer Shank Racing before he moved to the Rahal Letterman Lannigan team. Unfortunately, the promise showed at MSR was never realized at RLL. In 2024, Dale Coyne rang up Harvey to offer him a ride which he happily took alongside a revolving line-up of co-drivers. We caught up with him at the 2024 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach where he was celebrating his birthday and his new ride. In this interview, he talks about the importance of how to develop relationships within a team. He also recalls the incredible run to be the final Indy 500 qualifier the year prior. Fast forward to 2025, and he's now a pit reporter on the Fox TV race broadcasts, however, he'll also be back behind the wheel for this year's Indianapolis 500 with Dreyer and Reinbold Racing with Cusick Motorsports. A talented driver, a true gentleman of the sport, and also quite talented behind the microphone, Jack Harvey is one to watch both on the track and off. Enjoy!

IndyCar's return to Iowa this past weekend brought plenty of surprises as Speed Street host Conor Daly was called last minute to fill-in for Jack Harvey at Dale Coyne Racing. He joins co-host Chase Holden to detail how he got the call Friday night and boarded Roger Penske's plane Saturday morning to be on stand-by as the situation developed by the minute. While the IndyCar rulebook kept him out of the driver's seat for race one, due to his lack of seat time during the event weekend, he was granted a special session Sunday morning to help him prepare for race two. He and Chase recap both races and break down how the recent track repave and additional weight from the new hybrid system led to an overall lack of racing action.Race winners Scott McLaughlin and Will Power both joined the show this week to discuss how Team Penske utilized fuel strategy and quick pit stops to sweep the weekend. Scott laid down a lap fast enough to break the track record and captured the pole for the second race, but found his way to the front during race one to capture his first ever IndyCar oval victory. He explains that it was apparent early on in the race that the second lane would be ineffective, and he credits his pit crew with helping him overtake Colton Herta. Will Power started farther back in race two and immediately went into fuel saving mode to help chop his way through the field. Another quick Penske pit stop helped him get by Alex Palou and he held on for his second win of the 2024 season.

Kevin also talks about the Indy 500's motto being stolen by F1, using a similar phrase: “the greatest spectacle in motorsports.” Kevin talks about how he thinks the errors in using IMS's motto were probably caused by someone in an entry level social media position may have done without thinking.  Kevin rounds out the first hour previewing the second hour of the show.  In the second hour of the show, Curt and Kevin talk about the new Josef Newgarden commercial, and the banning of the snaking maneuver that Newgarden used to win the Indy 500 last year. They also talk about new video boards and other improvements coming to the track.  During the second hour, Kevin talks about the Dan Wheldon documentary, and how Wheldon's sons are doing in racing. They also talk about a platform to sell tickets for IMS at face value without losing seniority.  Kevin ends the show talking about an announcement Jackson Lee made today. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

PIT PASS INDY – SEASON 4, EPISODE 4 – Graham Rahal's thoughts on IndyCar, the NFL, and College Football January 23, 2024 Pit Pass Indy Show host Bruce Martin has an exclusive interview with Graham Rahal of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.  Rahal is attempting to rebound from a disappointing season in 2023 when he was bumped out of the 33-driver starting lineup for the 107th Indianapolis 500 by one of his teammates at the time, Jack Harvey. Rahal would later be in the starting lineup as a replacement driver for the injured Stefan Wilson at Dreyer & Reinbold Racing/Cusick Motorsports. Rahal rebounded later in the season to win the pole and finish second at the Gallagher Grand Prix on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course on August 12. He won another pole two races later at Portland for the September 3 race. Rahal is also an avid Ohio State football fan and gives his thoughts on what the Chicago Bears should do with former Buckeye quarterback Justin Fields. The Bears have the first pick in the NFL Draft. Also, Rahal gives his thoughts on bitter rival Michigan winning the National Championship in the College Football Playoff. Jack Harvey has won nearly a dozen championships in his career including the prestigious British F3 championship in 2012. He finished runner-up in the Indy Lights championship in both 2014 and 2015. He's one of only six drivers to have won on both the Indianapolis road course and the oval where he took those wins in Indy Lights. Moving from the Meyer Shank NTT IndyCar Series team to Rahal Letterman Lanigan has proven to be quite challenging for both him and the team. We caught up with Harvey as he was taking some photos of his girlfriend Gracie Norton just off of the red carpet at the 100 Days To Indy Premiere just prior to the 2023 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. He talks about the mental aspect of staying positive and how he wants to continue to motivate the team, work hard, and be competitive for the rest of the season. Candid and stoic, you can tell that Harvey is extremely motivated to return to qualifying well and finishing on the podium. Enjoy! NOTE: At Indianapolis, major drama unfolded as he bumped his teammate Graham Rahal out of the race with time expiring on the clock to qualify 33rd. After the August 12, 2023 road course race at Indy, Harvey was released from RLL with three races left to run in the season. Part of the team statement from Bobby Rahal reads: “First, I would like to thank Jack Harvey for all of his efforts on behalf of RLL for the last year and a half. He committed fully to the team, but for whatever reason, we weren't able to achieve the results that he or the team deserves, and we wish him well in the future.” Where will he end up? Only time will tell. We wish him the best. By Larry Mason Copyright © 2023 Larry Mason
