Team building or team destruction? The most dangerous part of Peugeot's former factory 908 HDi FAP factory LMP1 program wasn't the driving; it was the pre-season team building events where bruises and broken bones were the norm, as Sebastien Bourdais and Simon Pagenaud share in Part 2 of our lookback on the great French endurance racing program that ran from 2007-2011. “It's OK, you're not going to die alone,” Bourdais said of one harrowing team exercise. The on-track action was also no picnic. To start, factory driver Franck Montagny, frequently mentioned as the center of Peugeot-related mayhem, hit a cat at 205mph while testing and the results weren't pleasant… They loved the original 908 model which ran through 2010: “It was just a perfect car,” Pagenaud said. The all-new car for 2011? “It was difficult,” he continued. “It was very pointy to drive. Man, the V8 diesel was a lot more vibration than the V12.” And how about another Montagny tale of ‘Days of Thunder' rental car racing on the highway to get to the airport after testing at Monza? Then there was the time Pagenaud threw up in the morning at Le Mans… And how much money did(n't) Peugeot pay Bourdais, its big national star? Take a listen to the conversation, and below, we have Part 1 with Bourdais, Anthony Davidson, and Pedro Lamy. [SPF]

For most racing drivers, the chance to step up to Formula 1 is the opportunity of their careers, but Anthony Davidson says that his first grand prix start is something he still regrets to this day.Speaking to Chris Medland in the final episode from the current My big break series, WEC champion Davidson talks about the turning points in his career, which included more than a decade in top-level racing.Along the way, he brings his thoughtful views on why F1's points system should be revamped, the challenges facing female racing drivers, and his current commentary role.He reveals how an impromptu visit to Brands Hatch was the key to moving out of karting — where he raced alongside the likes of Dan Wheldon and Jenson Button — and into Formula Ford. Within two years, Davidson was a Formula 1 test driver and he eventually got his chance to race with Minardi, driving what he calls a "beast" of a car that he wasn't physically prepared for — and paying £250,000 for the privilege. But Davidson bided his time and was rewarded with a drive for Super Aguri, where he came agonisingly close to scoring world championship points. With the withdrawal of the team, he turned to sports cars, racing for Aston Martin before joining Peugeot's effort and then moving to Toyota, where he admits he's still "grieving" the 2016 Le Mans win that never was, when his car broke down with a lap remaining.Frank, funny, and insightful, Davidson takes you through the highs and lows of his eventful career. The Formula 1 race in Azerbaijan is known for craziness and this year was probably the craziest of all. The championship leaders Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton finished out of the points as tire (tyre) failure and a mental mistake cost both dearly. Are the Pirelli tires not up to par? Sergio Perez ends all talk of a Red Bull B driver jinx with a sensational win with his car on its last legs.Sebastian Vettel has two great drives in a row and gets Aston Martin its first podium.Pierre Gasly lands on the podium and Yuki Tsunoda gets a points haul as Alpha Tauri gets its best result of the year. McLaren gets double points but also wonders what could have been if not for a penalty for Lando Norris and a crash for Daniel Ricciardo during qualification. The team also mourns the loss of longtime shareholder Mansour Ojjeh. Ferrari looked like champs with Charles Leclerc on pole and Carlos Sainz but dropping places once the lights went out. Old vets Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen finish in the pointsLance Stroll, Estevan Ocon, Valtteri Bottas, George Russell and Nicholas Latifi have days to forget. All this and more (yes a lot more) as we unpack an amazing Azerbaijan Grand Prix!  Mercedes | Lewis Hamilton , Valtteri Bottas  Red Bull | Max Verstappen , Sergio Perez  McLaren | Daniel Ricciardo , Lando Norris  Aston Martin | Lance Stroll , Sebastian Vettel  Alpine | Esteban Ocon , Fernando Alonso  Ferrari | Carlos Sainz Jr , Charles Leclerc  AlphaTauri | Pierre Gasly , Yuki Tsunoda  Alfa Romeo | Kimi Raikkonen , Antonio Giovinazzi  Will Buxton, Lawrence Barretto, Sam Collins, Rosanna Tennant, Laura Winter, Melissa Nathoo, Ted Kravitz, Natalie Pinkman, Jenson Button David Croft, Paul Di Resta, Karun Chandhok, Anthony Davidson. Davidson helps break it down. Another one not to miss! Sponsored by Bose and Esso. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Peugeot's factory LMP1 diesel program was a marvel of speed and engineering from the moment it was unveiled in 2007. Taking on Audi, the kings of Le Mans, with the twin-turbo V12-powered 908 HDi FAP, made for incredible memories as the French national team brought the fight to the German squad. Although Peugeot's turbodiesel LMP1 effort didn't last long--the brand withdrew at the end of 2011--and its final product, the twin-turbo V8 908, was far from loved by its drivers, there are tales aplenty to share, and with the help of Sebastien Bourdais, Anthony Davidson, and Pedro Lamy, we can take a deep look inside the era and all the peaks and valleys that were produced. From broken bones to shattering gearboxes to the miraculous finish on the 908's 24-hour debut, our trio provides great detail on how the Peugeot LMP1 program was wilder than anyone imagined. Marshall Pruett and DailySportsCar.com editor Graham Goodwin kick off a new series that reviews major sports car racing events. The debut episode on the Marshall Pruett Podcast covers IMSA's season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona, Fernando Alonso's Toyota WEC plans, Anthony Davidson's reduced role in the program, and most of the highlights and lowlights that occurred during five days of WeatherTech SportsCar Championship developments in Florida. From repeated tire failures to strange penalties to imbalanced BoP, there was plenty to improve, and at the other end, big crowds, enthusiastic teams and drivers, and hearty racing from one IMSA class in particular are taken for a spin by Pruett and Goodwin. Just when you thought we'd said goodbye to in-studio guests and Stump the Chump we surprise you! Actually, Anthony Davidson, drummer for Pumpkin City and younger brother of show co-host, LaToya Davidson-Perez, makes a somewhat surprise visit to the show. After continually being ridiculed by Barry for his wearing of girl pants he feels the need to set the record straight and show up to the show in...unisex pants. This show is a gem as nothing is off-limits and LaToya is on air with two of the guys who know her best. And no, the abrupt cut off at the end of the show was no accident listeners just didn't get to hear all of Barry and Anthony's laughter at LaToya's expense.

In the Stacks with Barry & LaToya

Barry had high hopes for this episode. That is until LaToya squashed them. He goes from a good mood to almost catatonic. Joel Taylor, author of Joel's Weblog of Wonders is the on-the-phone guest and takes part in Pixar Stump the Chump trivia. He's on the line from the beautiful port city of Savannah and in true geek form, is planning on attending a WordPress conference. Later in the show Pumpkin City drummer, Anthony Davidson discusses the debut of the In the Stacks theme song with lyrics derived from LaToya's poem, In the Stacks.

In addition, they talk about some interesting 'hot' topics. Pumpkin City band member Anthony Davidson plays Mel Gibson Stump the Chump trivia.
