In this episode, Dave and Jamison answer these questions: Hi from a long-time listener and first-time caller. I need some advice on a toxic workplace situation. I'm currently unhappy with my job due to a difficult dynamic with a colleague. My manager put us on the same team, meaning we share responsibility for our output. Although this colleague is technically a level below me, they act as though they have seniority. This creates significant friction: they're resistant to advice, insist they're always right, and refuse to accept reality even when they can't deliver what's required. They're incredibly stubborn, and arguing with them about what's feasible takes an excessive amount of effort. The situation is particularly frustrating because I'm held accountable for the shared results. If I weren't responsible for the final outcome, I could probably just ignore their behaviour. Instead, they frequently talk a big game while contributing very little actual work. People unfamiliar with our domain are easily misled by their confidence, even though they are incompetent. Consequently, I'm forced to clean up their mess; otherwise, I'd be the one bearing the blame for the failure. I tried discussing this with my manager, but unfortunately, it made me look bad rather than resolving the issue. If I were the manager, I'd fire this person immediately, but my manager is clearly one of those people who get fooled by their smooth talk. I'm very close to handing in my notice, and let the manager know how incompetent this person is. But I'm furious that I feel I have to give up a role I enjoy just because of someone who makes my life miserable. My question is: Should I stick it out and try to navigate this politics-heavy environment, or is walking away the only option left? How do I leave without burning bridges or letting them win? Hello gentlemen, long time listener of the show and finally getting around to asking my first question (how exciting!) I'm going to be joining a new company in a few months and am wondering how to best handle the transition in order to make an excellent first impression and maybe set myself up for career growth… while not biting off more than I can chew. For context: I'm joining a company that builds QUANTUM COMPUTERS

In June 2018, following a Hockey Canada gala in London, Ontario, a young woman alleged she was sexually assaulted by members of Canada's gold medal winning World Junior hockey team. The case was investigated and closed without charges, and the public remained unaware for years. That changed in 2022, when a civil lawsuit and quiet settlement from the sport's regulating body Hockey Canada exposed the allegations. The fallout triggered parliamentary hearings, sponsor withdrawals, leadership resignations, and a reopened criminal investigation that culminated in a high profile trial against five of the men involved, all now NHL players. In this episode, I'm joined by Kristi Lee, host of Canadian True Crime, to walk through the full timeline of the Hockey Canada sexual assault scandal and examine what it reveals about accountability, power, and trust in Canadian sport. Per the Atlanta event website, 18 participants (9 boys and 9 girls) were selected by WTN to compete in this event. Participants were divided into 3 teams of 3 boys and 3 girls; each team had a professional coach who was present on court during play. There were round robins in the categories of Boys' singles, Girls' singles and Mixed Doubles. Each team played each other once in each category and accumulated points. The winning team received medals and a trophy. Players from all teams will be invited to attend or participate in the Intennse college level rivalry event to be held October 26th. Matches consisted of two 15 minute halves; there was no second serve and the server continued serving as long as they held serve. Like college matches, lets were played; clean winners count two points, and teams can take one time out and make one substitution per half. Live coaching was allowed. Cade Faetche, a 20-year-old student at Texas A&M University, has established himself as a remarkable talent in the field of shooting. Currently a member of the esteemed Junior Team USA FITASC for the year 2023, this is not his first encounter with the team, as he previously secured a spot in 2020. Hailing from Texas, Cade developed a passion for shooting from an early age, often accompanying his father. Over time, this shared interest evolved into coaching sessions and increased involvement in the sport. His dedication and skill have earned him notable achievements, including clinching the Greater Houston Gun Club championship twice, securing a commendable third place in the Junior Nationals, and accumulating numerous other accolades at such a young age. Cade's impressive achievements and burgeoning career in the shooting world make him a remarkable and valued guest on our show.Support the show

Ryan Castle has traveled the world, speaks 5 languages, and has coached water polo at all levels from youth to National Teams. He began his varsity collegiate coaching career at Arizona State University under former Brown University head coach Todd Clapper from 2007-to-2010. In addition to serving on the women's water polo varsity staff, he served as head coach for the ASU men's collegiate club team. He helped lead the Sun Devils to a third-place finish at the 2008 National Collegiate Club Championships in 2008 at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, as the program finished Third (2007), First (2008) and Second (2009) in the Southwest Division during his time in Tempe, Arizona. Castle accrued four years of experience at CWPA Division I institutions by working a three-year stint as an assistant at Hartwick College under Alan Huckins. From there he went to the University of Michigan under then Wolverines' coach/now Connecticut College head coach Matt Anderson from 2013-2014. Serving as the associate head coach for the University of Hawaii in 2015 and 2016 under head coach Maureen Cole, Castle helped guide the Rainbow Warriors to the 2015 Big West Tournament Championship and an appearance in the 2015 NCAA Championship. Castle served as an interim head coach during the 2016 season, and in that time Hawaii earned a 13-4 record. Ryan Castle is currently the Head Women's Water Polo Coach and Director of Club Sports at Carthage College. Ryan came to Carthage College in July 2019 following a three-year tenure at Indiana University where he compiled a 52-36 record from 2017-to-2019. Outside of the collegiate ranks, Castle honed his craft with international teams, both at the junior and senior levels. Most recently, Castle held the reigns as the head coach of the Kazakhstan Women's Senior National Team, where he guided Kazakhstan to an appearance at the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China. Kazakhstan's 13th-place finish at the event was the fourth-highest in the country's history. Before Kazakhstan, Castle served as the Video Analyst for the New Zealand senior team at the 2009 FINA World Championships. From 2007 to 2009, Castle worked in the US Olympic Development Program by running one of the United States' under-18 zone teams. In 2003, Castle took charge of the South African Women's Junior National Team and assisted with the Men's Junior Team. A native of Cape Town, South Africa, Castle graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in information systems and earned a post-graduate credential in education in 2003. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/cwpa/support
