Strap in for a full-throttle ride with British GT champ Ricky Collard as he breaks down the brutal reality of 24-hour racing – from sleep-deprived stints at 3AM to smelling sausages while ripping past German bogans in the Nürburgring woods. Ricky unpacks the chaos of race week, what it takes to stay sharp behind the wheel, why night racing is electric, and the sheer power of driving an F2 beast. You'll laugh, you'll wince, and you'll probably want to sink a tin in a hot tub trackside. It's proper true yarns from one of the fastest blokes on the planet.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. Strap in for this absolute belter of an episode as British GT champion Ricky Collard drops by the Proper True Yarn Podcast. From growing up on a farm with more horsepower than luxury to racing against names like Verstappen and Leclerc, Ricky's journey has been anything but boring. He recounts a near-death crash in Italy, hospital stays with popped lungs, and rolling a farm bomb VW Polo with a broken shoulder—cheered on by his old man. It's raw, honest, and a laugh-a-minute insight into what it really takes to make it in motorsport, and how yarning might just be more profitable than racing.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. Welcome to episode 42 of the Lovecars on the Grid podcast! Our hosts, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another roundup of motorsport events from the past week! There's no news from the FIA on the overspending from Redbull. Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren has written a complaint to the FIA regarding it. Cheating is cheating! Elsewhere in F1, we have no news on who are going to fill the Williams and Haas vacant seats, although there are rumours of who will be racing in them next year, we're just waiting on confirmation of super licenses! World Touring Cars will not continue after the end of the 2022 season, having just 12 cars on the grid and 20 minute races. Dan Ticktum has signed for another year in Formula E, having signed an extended contract. The sport has also decided to drop the Fan Boost for the next season. There was a horrific crash in the support race to the European Le Mans Series, in which James Hunt's son, Freddie took the win. The Moto GP race in Australia was potentially the most exciting race of the year so far, as 8 bikes crossed the finish line within 0.884 seconds of each other. Suzuki rider, Alex Rins took the win from 10th on the grid. British Superbikes crowned Bradley Ray as their Championship Winner at Brands Hatch this weekend, despite a difficult race for him. We had a Donington Park decider in British GT, with Ian Loggie taking the Championship win in his Mercedes, having finished 2nd in the race. Bubba Wallace and Kyle Larson had an altercation in NASCAR, following a risky move from Larson in Las Vegas and Bubba using his car as a missile! Then we crown new Champions in Caterham. With the Academy series at Silverstone, while the 270 and 310 championships were at Spa Francorchamps. Next week, Formula 1 returns to the circuit of the Americas, while we have WRC in Spain, Moto GP in Malaysia, World Superbikes in Argentina and NASCAR are in Miami!

Welcome to episode 39 of the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another roundup of motorsport events from the past week. We're a day late with the podcast this week (sorry), as Paul has been filming for our upcoming TV show! In Formula 1, Max Verstappen could take the F1 World Title this weekend, coming up to the record for the most wins in a season and probably the most dominant season we've ever seen in Formula 1! Zhou Guanyu has confirmed to be continuing to drive for Alfa Romeo next year, whilst the FIA has rejected Indycar driver, Colton Herta's application for a super license. Nicolas Latifi has also been confirmed that he will leave the Williams F1 team, where will he go next? There was a lot of motorbike racing, with Moto GP, Superbikes and British Superbikes! In the British GT, we had the issue of track limits, allowing drivers to overtake off the track and made it more like an amateur banger race at Brands Hatch. Extreme E was in Venezuela for the Copper X-Prix, with absolute chaos with the dust between the cars. The winner was determined by penalties given to each driver for hitting marker flags. Team Hamilton X44 won ahead of McLaren thanks for these penalties. Moto GP had a wet qualifying at the Grand Prix of Japan. The race was won by Australian rider, Jack Miller on his Ducati. Just four rounds to go in Moto GP and a race in Kazakhstan in 2023! The World Superbikes were in Barcelona, with wins in all three wins going to Alvaro Bautista on his Ducati. British Superbikes was full of drama at the weekend at Oulton Park, with Donington Park coming next weekend. Jason O'Halloran and Peter Hickman had a collision in the first race, as both riders attempted an overtake. In race 2, reigning champion, Tarran Mackenzie fell off and broke his femur after being struck by Peter Hickman. Mackenzie is recovering in hospital. Over the pond in NASCAR, the drivers were in Texas, with lots of tyre failures as teams push the limits of the Goodyear tyres. The next race is the lottery of Talledega! Next week, we have WRC in New Zealand, British Superbikes are at Donington Park, Moto GP is in Thailand and Formula 1 and W Series at in Singapore for the night race!

Welcome to episode 36 of the Lovecars on the Grid podcast. Our presenters, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another roundup of motorsport events from around the World from the past week! What an exciting week we've had, from Formula 1, F2, F3, Porsche Supercup, WEC in Japan, WRC in Greece, Indycar in California, NASCAR, World Superbikes, British Superbikes and British GT. Starting with Formula 1, Max Verstappen is on another level, with yet another win in Monza at the weekend winning from 7th place, despite Charles LeClerc starting in pole position. We had the cinderella story of Nick De Vries in Williams. The driver was substituted for Alex Albon after the driver was suffering with appendicitis. De Vries qualified 13th, but thanks to other driver penalties, started in 9th. He managed to finish in the same position, achieving points in his very first race! We have to talk about the safety car controversy. Keeping the safety car out and allowing Max Verstappen to take the win. It's like Abu Dhabi with Michael Masi all over again! Should the FIA have red flagged the race and allow a restart for the last three laps? Did they make the decision? Let us know what you think! We had a strange weekend in Formula 2, with a Championship win for Felipe Drugovich, even with 3 races to go! The Sprint Race was won by Juri Vips. Formula 3 ended up in a crash that causes a red flag. Victor Martins took the championship win from the pit wall. The Sprint Race win went to Franco Colapinto, whilst the feature race win went to Zane Maloney. In the Porsche Supercup, Harry King took pole position, but following a 3 place grid penalty after a shunt in the previous race, King took 2nd place, behind Bastian Buus. The Championship win was given to Dylan Pereira. The World Endurance Championship was taking place at Fuji, with 1st and 2nd place for Toyota and Alpine in 3rd. In the World Rally Championship, Hyundai had a 1, 2, 3 finish, following an awful start to the season. We had a spectacular Indycar race at Laguna Seca. Josef Newgarden made some great overtakes, but it was team mate, Will Power that took the Championship win the in Indycar series. The NASCAR series took place at the Hollywood Casino 400, with a win for Bubba Wallace. There's just 1 more race where drivers can qualify for the final 12 drivers, so exciting in NASCAR! In World Superbikes, the battle between Jonathan Rea and Toprak Razgatlioglu continues! Both riders fell off in the first 2 races. Next week, we have Moto GP and NASCAR!

Welcome to episode 35 of the Lovecars On The Grid podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another roundup of motorsport events from the past week! We kick off this week with a Max Verstappen masterclass in Zandvoort in the Netherlands. We were expecting a dull race, as there were very few places for overtakes, but we were shocked by the action we saw in the Formula 1 this weekend! We had another Ferrari blunder in Carlos Sainz first pit stop, which resulted in Sergio Perez running over one of the pit crew tyre guns in his Red Bull. In his second stop, Sainz was released unsafely, resulting in a time penalty for an unsafe release. We had both Tsunoda and Bottas cars break down. Tsunoda thought his tyres were not fitted correct, and after a 2nd pit stop, was told to stop his car by his pit crew. Valtteri Bottas was forced to stop his Alfa Romeo on the start/finish straight, resulting in a safety car, that forced Lewis Hamilton to lose his lead. George Russell took a late call with Mercedes to change his tyres during the safety car, but this left Hamilton exposed, allowing Max Verstappen to overtake on the first corner following the race restart. The final result was 1st to Max Verstappen, 2nd to Charles LeClerc and 3rd to George Russell, the British driver's best ever finish with Mercedes. We also finally have an update on the Oscar Piastri fiasco. The driver has now confirmed that he will be driving for McLaren next year. Meanwhile, AlphaTauri are working to secure Indycar driver, Colton Herta. Controversially, the driver hasn't received a super license, so the team are working to secure one for him in order for him to drive for them next year. Elsewhere in F1, there's confusion between the Red Bull and Porsche deal, with questions being asked about if it's an engine deal, a chassis deal, or whether anything will happen at all! In F2, we had another safety car issue. Liam Lawson was holding up the rest of the pack, waiting as late as possible before restarting. The drivers further back in the field tried to speed up early, resulting in several drivers crashing. The feature race ended up being won by Brazilian driver, Felipe Drugovich, with Marcus Armstrong winning the sprint race. In Formula 3, we had a session ended early, following a red flag on the banked corner that was arguably not needed. We're all for safety first, but this red flag was a bit extreme! The feature race was won by Zane Maloney, whilst Caio Collet won the sprint race. The Moto GP took place at Misano in Italy, won by Ducati rider, Francesco Bagnaia. Australian rider, Jack Miller crashed in his Ducati, showing just how on the edge these riders really ride! In the USA, we had Indycar at Portland. We had a fairly dull race, however we still had safety cars! Following some new ruling, the cars restarted further back on the straight, which resulted in no crashes when it came to the chicane as the cars were more spaced out. Scott McLaughlin dominated the race and took the win, with team mate Will Power in 2nd place. 3rd place Scott Dixon went from 16th to take his podium position. The NASCAR race was fairly chaotic, which took place at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina. Chase Elliot ended up spinning out. Kyle Busch blew his engine, and Kevin Harwick's car burst into flames! The win went to Erik Jones in his Chevrolet, with Denny Hamlin behind him in 2nd place. Next week, we have Formula 1, F2, F3 and the Porsche Supercup at Monza. The World Endurance Championship is back in Fuji, with some reduction in weight on the Peugeot and Toyota cars. WRC is back in Greece for a tough rally. The final round of Indycar is next week too, at Laguna Seca. We also have NASCAR! At home, British GT is taking place at Brands Hatch, whilst the British Superbikes are at Snetterton.

Welcome to episode 29 of the Lovecars on the Grid podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman are back with another roundup of motorsport from the past week! We've got new rules and regulations in Formula 1, along with a massive controversy over a baseball cap in WRC, and another controversy in Indycar over a balaclava! We had NASCAR, World Superbikes at Donington park and Formula E in New York! We kick off as always with Formula 1, and while there was no Grand Prix this week, there has been plenty of gossip and changes in F1 this week! There are claims that scrutineers aren't checking the cars properly, with skid blocks being pushed into the floor on some cars, making them illegal. We have the Paul Ricard circuit coming up for the next race, will Mercedes do better than 3rd this week? In the World Rally Championship, we had a controversy over a sponsors hat! Rules dictate that drivers can't attend press conferences or podiums without wearing their sponsors logo on their hat. Unfortunately, driver Tanak received a fine for being on the podium without his sponsor's hat in Rally Estonia! The rally was won by Kalle Rovanpera after a change in the weather, taking the lead from Elfyn Evans. In the WRC 3 Junior, 27 year old, John Armstrong from Ireland is holding onto his lead! Continuing with clothing drama, we move over to Indycar in Toronto. The win went to Scott Dixon, who was being chased by rival Colton Herta. Herta started from pole position and was overtaken thanks to pit strategies, however the driver admitted following the race that his balaclava burst during this leadership attack, resulting in him having his hair in his face and losing him the lead! We had some real aggression and drama in NASCAR this weekend. We had our 5th different winner of the season in Christopher Bell at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The highlight from NASCAR was Austin Dillon, who decided to crash into another driver under the safety car. Over in New York, in the docklands we had racing for the Formula E cars. Under the poor weather, we had drivers aquaplaning and causing crashes. The race was red flagged with a few laps to go, resulting in the drivers who crashed into the barriers received the podium places! How can you win a race that you crash out of?! The Superbikes were at Donington Park in the UK. Toprak Razgatlioglu brought home all three wins, with Jonathan Rea getting 2x 2nd places and a 3rd place. Next weekend, we have Formula 1 and F2 at Paul Ricard. Indycar is at Iowa, NASCAR is at Pocono Raceway in a Pennsylvania, British Superbikes are at Brands Hatch. The British GT is off to Spa Francorchamps in Belgium! Thanks for listening!

Welcome to episode 21 of the Lovecars On The Grid podcast! We have an action packed week to roundup with our hosts, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman, from Formula 1, Formula E, NASCAR, Superbikes and even drama in the Caterham Academy Championship! Kicking off with Formula 1, why we have the spy scandal between Red Bull and Aston Martin! With employees leaving Red Bull for Aston Martin, is information being taken too? Lewis Hamilton had a poor start in Barcelona, with Haas driver Kevin Magnussen involved in a collision with the Mercedes driver. Followed by Carlos Sainz coming off the track into the gravel trap in his Ferrari. What followed was an exciting race, with intense battles between Segio Perez and George Russell. Max Verstappen also had a brief spin off the track, leaving Charles LeClerc to lead the race in his Ferrari. LeClerc had a problem later in the race with his engine blowing up, and ended up retiring. The new Mercedes body modifications seemed to work though, with Russell finishing the race in 3rd, with Verstappen and Perez ahead of him. In Formula 2, Felipe Drugovich took the win for MP Motorsport in both the Sprint race and the Feature race. He now leads the championship. In the supporting W Series race, we had a 1,2,3 British podium, with a win for Jamie Chadwick, Abbi Pulling and Alice Powell. Both Sebs had a crash in WRC out in Portugal. The gravel rally was won by Toyota GR's Kalle Rovanperä from Finland, with Elfyn Evans hot on his heels. The WRC goes off to Italy next! There was no Moto GP this week, but the World Superbikes were at Estoril. The battle between Jonathan Rea and Toprak Razgatlıoğlu continues as Rea takes 2 wins, with Toprak hot on his heels. The British Superbikes were at Donington Park, with some awful crashes. We had bikes splitting into multiple pieces, and a rider even in hospital. Thankfully Josh Day is awake and eating again, we wish him a speedy recovery. NASCAR was a pretty spectacular event, with $1 million for the Winner in Texas. There were more crashes and slow punctures for the drivers. The win went to Ryan Blaney in his Ford, with Denny Hamlin behind him in 2nd place. Tiff stayed up until midnight to watch the Indycar drivers at Indianapolis. We had crashes at 230MPH, with an average speed of 234.046MPH! Unbelievable! The win went to Scott Dixon, and Alex Palou in 2nd. Our resident driver, Paul Woodman was driving his Caterham Roadsport car at Snetterton with the Caterham Academy Championship this weekend. We had races being won by 0.05 of a second, and over 30 drivers on the grid! In the first race, Paul managed a 7th place, following an 11th place qualifying. Geoff Newman, Charlie Lower and Freddie Chiddicks all manage their usual performances with great driving. In the second race however, there was carnage at the start! Following an amazing start, Paul was squeezed by the two cars in front of him. He tried to go around the outside, but unfortunately was taken out by another car, leading to a red flag. Straight after the restart, we had a driver roll his car, forcing another red flag! Thankfully, the driver is ok. We don't know where to start this weekend, but we have a major Formula 1 race in Monaco. Now that Mercedes have got rid of their porpoising, will they do better in qualifying? We also have the Indianapolis 500, plus Moto GP at Mugello, BTCC at Thruxton and British GT at Donington Park! Over in America, we have the NASCAR at Charlotte.

This week we have F1, W Series, British GT, Touring Cars and NASCAR! Kicking off in Miami with Formula 1! The event was very well hyped, with even a fake marina and boats on show! Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen performed a trademark, bold move on the first corner, and took the race win. Mercedes had a disappointing race, finishing in 5th and 6th with lots of porpoising going on. The W Series was supporting the F1 in Miami. It was a perfect win for Jamie Chadwick, with 2 wins this weekend. Last year's Winner, Alice Powell ended up stalling on the grid and finishing in 6th place. The World Endurance Championship was at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium. It was typically Spa weather, with lots of rain. The #7 Toyota was victorious, driven by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez, beating Alpine in 2nd place. The World Touring Cars started their season with a reverse grid at the Circuit de Pau Ville. The win went to Argentine driver, Nestor Girolami. British GT was taking place at Silverstone, with a win for Barwell Motorsport in their Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO. NASCAR was at the famous old oval, Darlington. We had a very controversial ending, with some questionable driving for Winner Joey Logano, who drove into William Byron and put the leader into the wall. This weekend, we have Indycar at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. IMSA are at the mid-Ohio course. Moto GP is back at the Le Mans Bugatti circuit in France. Formula E has a double header in Berlin and then in Britain we have the British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch!
