Well that was a few days in the unhinged world of F1, we started off with an action packed British Grand Prix, which gave Lando Norris his first home win and Nico Hülkenberg his first podium in 239 starts, after some very mixed up weather conditions. And just when we thought the dust was settling in time for F1 to have the break before the official Summer break, RedBull go and pull something kind of unexpected out of the bag by announcing that their team principle and divisive character Christian Horner is no lonfer their team principle (or CEO for that matter)This week on the podcast we unpick the events of the last few days and revel in the fact that we decided to record a couple of days late this week so didn't miss the big midweek story! There's a bit of a review of the British GP as I'm fairly sure that everyone's heard about it all by now, but fresh off  the newswire there's our deep dive into the trainwreck that is (and has been for the last year) the RedBull situation. In this episode, we catch up with Sydney-based distance runner Kieren Tall, who has returned to racing after a long recovery from a serious injury. When we last had Kieren on the show in 2022, he was competing at a high level with personal bests of 28:47 in the 10K and 13:50 in the 5K. Soon after, he was diagnosed with compartment syndrome and popliteal artery entrapment syndrome, a very rare injury which forced him to step away from running completely and threatened the basic function of his legs. His recovery started with relearning how to walk before gradually building back to training.In our discussion we dive into what it took—both physically and mentally—to get back, his approach to training now compared to before the injury, and how his mindset has evolved after such a long road. Kieran Antill is the Director of Brand and Marketing at Ne-Lo, and Ross Hastings is the Managing Director. In October of 2023, I participated in a Fundamentals Course with Global Underwater Explorers. I had many ideas of what I thought this course would be. I had many misconceptions going in, and the goal of this series is to highlight the misconceptions one might have about GUE and their standard of training. I sit down and speak with five instructors across the globe to hear their stories and gain some insight into this agency whose approach “Begins with the end in mind”.In the final episode of this series, I sit down and speak with Jon Kieren. I was able to catch Jon before he moved back to Cave Country in the state of Florida. In his early twenties, a snowstorm pushed him in the direction of the Virgin Islands, which kicked off his diving career. Throughout his career, he has held many positions and has emerged as a true leader in his field. Someone who is not afraid to speak his mind about his frustrations with the industry or personal challenges he has faced. Soon students discovered that everyone was able to reply all to the initial email, and have their message sent to UCL's 40,000 strong student body. Unsurprisingly, chaos ensued.
