Last Stop In Yuma County is a one-location film done right, a pulsing, palpably tense, flawlessly executed pressure-cooker thriller that that mixes whip-smart dialogue and humor with tension and violence. It's essentially a spaghetti western reimagined as a 70s neo-noir crime film and done in a Coen brother style, like Blood Simple, Miller's Crossing, and No Country For Old Men. It also features a terrific ensemble cast, who all give excellent performances and get their time to shine. The film had its world premiere at this year's Fantastic Fest, and we're stoked to share its Q&A with you, which contains lots of fun stories about Jim Cummings and Richard Brake, as well as fascinating info on the film's production. The Fantastic Golem Affairs is the latest effort from the filmmaking duo Burnin' Percebes, Juan González and Nando Martínez. Fantastic Fest kicked off this year's festival with the world premiere of Macon Blair's The Toxic Avenger. Caution: You may need a strong cup of Kopi after listening to our year-ending podcast with Dr. Nouriel Roubini, an economist and market analyst, who famously called the severity of the sub-prime crisis back in 2008 and has been warning about the fragility of the crypto ecosystem in recent years. But it is essential listening, as a recent review of his book, MegaThreats, points out: “Roubini's warnings may be alarmingly scary, but they are also disturbingly plausible” (John Thornhill, Financial Times). We begin with his sobering assessment of the near term outlook, with recession risks rising in the UK and Europe, with the US not far behind, along with China with its struggles to reopen the economy. Nouriel does not see inflation easing sufficiently in the near term, and envisages an era of “great stagflation” in the coming years. His rationale for structurally higher inflation is wide ranging, from the impact of deglobalisation to aging, along with green transition and populism. He also sees a looming debt crisis like no other, with the US, Europe, and China already overleveraged, teetering on the brink of cascading defaults and financial market contagion. He fears fiscal and monetary policy errors, great power rivalry, pandemic, climate change, cyber warfare, and financial instability holding back growth and prosperity in the coming decades, unless technological advances and welfare enhancing policies offset those headwinds. Nouriel worries that the period of global prosperity enjoyed since the end of the second world war is coming to an end; let's hope he is wrong, but let's also heed his warnings.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
When to do shines? You can break apart for a shine whenever, but paying attention to the music - shows your musicality skills and that's one mark of becoming a better dance Usually a good time to do shines is when the lyrics/vocals stop during the bridge of the song. This can be indicated by particularly interesting instrumentation or solos where you can really hear drums doing something unusual, for example. Sometimes you can shadow your partner and mimic the shine they are doing, or you can do your own thing. A shine is an opportunity for you to show off on the dance floor, Leads or follows. The best part of dancing is when the dancers play off each other. You add your own little flavor into a technique/lead, or a body movement or expression. Your follow does some nice styling, or adds some spice of their own. For my leads: There are some follows that are a bit dangerous to dance with - they turn themselves randomly, they're forcefully offbeat, they hold onto your hand tightly, and many other examples. In these rare instances, you can throw in some extra shines, and just smile for large portions of the song with them. As a final Note / A word of Caution: You must tailor your shines to the level of your partner. Some follows LOVE to shine, so give them more shine time than others. Some follows will look absolutely terrified and just repeat their basic step if you leave them alone for too long. In that case do partnerwork with them instead. #Salsa #Bachata #Kizomba #Podcast #BrazilianZouk #Rueda #Tarraxinha #Zouk #Passada #Ginga #Forro #LambaZouk #Afro #Latin #African #Socialdance #Socialdancing #Partnerdance #Partnerdancing #Pachanga #Lambada #Dance #Dancers 2LF Links _______________________________________________ Twitter: https://twitter.com/Tw0LeftFeet Instagram: tw0_left_feet Website: https://2leftfeet.blog/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2171874589599779/ Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoLeftFeetPodcast/ iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/two-left-feet-podcast/id1454425997 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5bQSnwKDmHbDQdgnZ0OrC3 Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/Twoleftfeet Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCR109vJ4Pbl146Ok1u5vSuA Anchor: https://anchor.fm/twoleftfeetpodcast

Aaron is back with another Fantastic Fest 2022 Q&A! This time, it's for an arty, oddball horror flick called A Wounded Fawn, which plays with slasher and cabin-in-the-woods subgenres in pretty fun ways, with a heavy influence spanning Greek mythology and titans of horror like Sam Raimi and Dario Argento. Gritty and grimy, it's definitely an interesting watch. Aaron returns with more Fantastic Fest 2022 goodness! This episode takes listeners inside filmmaker Mickey Reece's latest effort, Country Gold. The film is a spiritual companion to Mickey Reece's Alien, which finds him trading in Elvis iconography for that of Garth Brooks and George Jones. This contemplative comedy really hits hard, and it might be Reece's best effort to date — something we find ourselves saying every time he makes a new film. Imagine the surrealism of David Lynch and the philosophy of Richard Linklater combined with the energy of David O. Russell ensembles, and you're in the ballpark of this gem of a hangout flick. The Q&A features Reece alongside fellow actor Ben Hall, with a slew of cast and crew present as well. It's a great time — and one you won't want to miss out on! Smart Agency Masterclass with Jason Swenk: Podcast for Digital Marketing Agencies
The Agency Visionary and Integrator Are you a visionary or an integrator? How do you know, and how do you use it to grow your agency? Check yourself on these: Got big goals for your agency but no idea how to get there? Spending too much time on the day-to-day operations when you would rather be leading? The world is filled with visionaries and integrators. With effort and understanding, you can harness the strength of both to grow your marketing agency. In this episode, we'll cover: What is the difference between a visionary and an integrator? 5 rules between an agency visionary and an integrator. Finding the missing piece to your agency puzzle. I talked to Mark Winters, co-author of the book, Rocket Fuel. Mark is an entrepreneur who has been directly involved in fourteen different businesses of varying sizes and industries throughout his life. He has started, sold, and even acquired businesses. During that time, Mark has learned the importance of having a visionary and an integrator in your agency leadership and how the two can work better together. What Is the Difference Between a Visionary and an Integrator? Many agency owners are visionaries. Visionaries are individuals with big dreams and goals. They're the ones that can look at the big picture and determine where the agency should be in the next five years. However, visionaries often struggle with the day-to-day details of enacting a plan to reach their goals. That's where an integrator comes in. Integrators are individuals capable of focusing on the details of operations of your agency right now. They are usually the general manager or operations manager tasked with building the road between where the agency is now and where the visionary owner wants to be. Can an Agency Visionary and an Integrator Work Together? When they work together, the visionary and the integrator offer a complete management package. One minds the overall mission while the other ensures success of individual tasks. However, these two personality types are so different they often have a difficult time working together. In his book, Mark discusses the five rules between a visionary and an integrator. The rules can help the two accomplish what needs to be done for the agency without driving each other crazy. 5 Rules Between a Visionary and Integrator Get on the same page. Do what you need to do to stay in alignment with the other half of your visionary/integrator coin. If you need to fight it out, do so in a back room and then come together for your team. No end-runs. If the integrator answers to the visionary and the rest of the team answer to the integrator, that is the end of the line. The visionary should not allow team members to disrespect the chain of command. The integrator is the tie-breaker. If there is a disagreement within the organization, the integrator has the ground-level view and is in a better position to consider the plan and make a decision. Rules for owner-employees. Many times the visionary owner also does work as an employee. However, problems arise when this owner-employee decides the rules don't apply. As an owner of an agency, Mark believes you really only have two rights. First, the right to your share of the profits. Next, the right to have your voice heard on major decisions. At any other time, if you're acting as an employee, you should be the most diligent and devoted employee ever. Maintain mutual respect. Many visionary-integrator business relationships fail because one or both parties fail to devote the time and attention to making it work. The visionary can't treat the integrator like a lackey and have success. Ideally, the two individuals will have an eyeball-to-eyeball relationship as equals. Finding the Missing Piece to Your Agency Puzzle So how do you find the right piece to the puzzle? Mark says it is really a three-piece puzzle. You need to understand your business. Then you need the insight to know your strengths and skills. And finally, you need to identify the gaps in your team structure. Only then can you find the right person to close those gaps. Caution: You might not understand this person. The way they think and approach problems will be different than yours. That's the point! And, all of that is less important than the ability for you and this person to work together. The goal is to use your individual superpowers to build the best agency possible. Define: Lands that have an effect other than generating mana. We love these cards because they can act like spells, and can add power to your deck without taking up a spell slot. Caution: You should use these sparingly, as they often come with downsides, like coming into play tapped, or only adding colorless mana. Some Utility Lands, such as Maze of Ith, or Glacial Chasm, don’t add mana. When I build a deck I tend not to include these in my land slots (I think of them as zero cost permanent that makes me skip my land drop for the turn) 0 colors: ALL the Utility Lands!!!! 1 color: 8ish 2 color: 6ish 3 color: 4ish 4&5 color: 3ish Obviously this changes depending on how early you need certain colors of mana, or how color cost intensive your cards are (Cryptic Command, etc) You can run more of these the more solid the rest of your land base is (fetches, shocks, duals, oh my. But mention some good budget options here. Ravnica bounce lands, 5 color lands, Evolving wilds etc Also, the more colors your deck is, the less of these you can afford to run. A rule of thumb (and by no means perfect): Zero Utility Lands in the EDHRec top 100 for the past week, 2 weeks, or year. 31 - Reliquary Tower 40 - Bojuka Bog 79 - Kessig Wolf Run 83 - Rogue's Passage 95 - Alchemist's Refuge The following cards are the Utility Lands on the top 100 Lands for the last two years: Utility lands on EDHRec Top 100 Maybe your commander is super important to your strategy, and your meta is counterspell heavy: Cavern of souls. Today's show is about hiring. It's specifically two questions I literally received last week talking to a coaching client and these are: How do I know when it's time to hire? I have three candidates I really like, how do I choose? How do you know when it's time to hire? Reasons that business owners get too far in and haven't hired yet: Lack of readiness Lack of funds Easy things to know when it's time to hire: You're flat out of time and you continue to drop the ball on fairly critical tasks. Do you spend more time putting out fires and doing other work that you shouldn't really be doing in the first place? Spend your time on the most critical items that drive your business. "I can't afford somebody." Well, you can't afford NOT to have somebody. If you spend your time working 18 hours a day and you drop a ball, you cannot afford not to have somebody otherwise your business goes on a death spiral. Ways to get staff without breaking the bank: Use contractors for 2-3 hours a week. Find interns or someone that can handle very remedial things for minimal pay. Ask for referrals.- Referrals are really good or someone you've already worked with before that you can just hand over something to with minimal training and they take care of it. Hire a virtual assistant. - Caution: You can't expect them to fix all the problems you have. You have to spend a lot of time training them. Challenges you need to solve here are: 1. Too much work 2. Not enough time 3. You don't have to hire a full-time employee to work 40 hours a week and pay them benefits. Having systems and processes in place: What are you doing throughout your day that you can systematize or put into a process that you can just do once or twice more and then have to do minimal work for it from then on in? There is never a perfect time. You're never going to want to give up your money to hire somebody but you have to consider: Your time What you're not doing The cost of not hiring somebody. I have three candidates I really like, how do I choose? 1. Here are things you can ask yourself: Do they all have the technical ability and do they think they can handle it? Do they match your needs? Do you need them to be timely and to operate with very little direction? Do you want them to be part-advisor? You ask them and they give you feedback? Do you want someone that needs strict guidance and step-by-step but they execute really well? Do you want someone that only communicates once a week with you or once a day? 2. Make sure their culture is right. Find someone that fits with you and not you fitting with them. Find one that matches your style or your needs. Know what motivates them. It's okay if they want to do other things not related to your business but it's just knowing what kind of person they are, how they function, and what drives or excites them. 3. Have them take on a test run. Give them a test job or a test quote and let them walk you through the process. Give them a real sample to work through and see the results they provide back to you. Should you delay paying your taxes until you retire? If you didn't know, you are already doing this in your 401k, IRA or defined benefit plan. Caution: You could pay more by waiting. Visit http://wealthforlife.net/ for additional videos, ebooks and web event information.
