Combine high energy country rock with classic country standards and you have the ingredients for a potent four-piece ensemble from Southern Ontario named Johnson's Creek.Featuring Glenn Code (lead vocals/guitars), Michael Lanteigne (lead guitar/backing vocals), Mike Crombez (bass guitar/backing vocals) and Jake Adams (drums/backing vocals), Johnson's Creek have been building a strong reputation for themselves since arriving on the scene in the summer of 2017 with the release of their debut single “Ocean Fantasy”. Since that point, Johnson's Creek released a self-titled, six-single EP in the Fall of 2019 which triggered strong airplay for their anthemic single"I Like It Dirty” which earned them key bookings with major concerts such as the Stars And Thunder Festival in Timmins, Mattawa Voyageur Days, back to back years at Rogers Hometown Hockey and numerous gigs throughout Northern and Southern Ontario. 2022 proved big for the band with the release of 2 singles, “Burn It Up” and “Tell Me Something Good” and notching 40+ performances throughout Canada including dates at the famed Cavendish Beach Music Festival in PEI, the Winkler Harvest Festival in Manitoba, 4 dates at The Canadian National Exhibition and a headlining spot Toronto's Legendary Horseshoe Tavern. Whether it's projecting their high-energy `Redneck Rock n Roll`, inspired by the likes of The Road Hammers and The Georgia Satellites or more classic standards influenced by Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and Hank Williams, Johnson's Creek has the unique ability to appeal to a wide variety of country music demographics.

PEI's Sommo Festival boasts a massive line up for a first-year festival. With hopes to make it an annual event, Ben Murphy and his team at Whitecap Entertainment (the group behind the award-winning Cavendish Beach Music Festival) put a lot of work into the launch, and the festival will be taking place this July. Before starting on the panning, the team did a deep dive into what the community enjoyed about live music events and how they could make it the most enjoyable for all. Of course, everyone said the only thing they like better than live music is delicious food, so Sommo was born.

Singing has been Raquel Cole's first love for as long as she can remember. She got her first guitar at the age of nine and started to write songs not long after that. She was inspired by hit songs she heard on the radio from artists like Shania Twain and Bryan Adams, but also from jamming with her dad, a drummer, in the basement learning how to play 70's rock and roll.  After graduating high school, Raquel had planned to go on to study jazz guitar, but not being able to deny her desire to be in Nashville writing songs, she respectfully declined her acceptance to Capilano University in North Vancouver and instead made the move to Nashville. Her debut album "Personal Truth" was released in 2018. Raquel has also found success writing for other artists and claims her first Billboard Top 10 Country charting song recorded by superstar Marie Osmond. In 2020, Raquel became a semi- finalist for the Sirius XM ‘Top of the Country' nationwide contest in Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Country Music Association. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, she began working on a stripped-down passion project. Recording three songs that she co-wrote where she played all guitars on the project & recorded her distinct vocals, adding cello to the songs as well. The result, “The Essence of Me”, was released in August 2020, which has racked up nearly 250,000 streams globally. Raquel's most recent single “Think About You” continues to win her new fans. Currently, country radio & country fans are loving her song with Don Amero entitled "Let You" for which there is a music video. Raquel will be performing at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival which runs July 7th through July 9th in Cavendish, PEI. Full schedule & tickets at cavendishbeachmusic.com.

Signed to MDM Recordings Inc. in 2019, British Columbia's Tyler Joe Miller quickly began to make a name for himself in Canadian country music and continues his meteoric rise with the release of his latest single ‘Wild As Her'. After releasing his gold-certified debut single, ‘Pillow Talkin'' at the end of 2019, the catchy tune quickly earned him the title of iHeartRadio Future Star and became his first #1 single at Canadian country radio. What followed was an unprecedented and record-breaking climb with follow-up single ‘I Would Be Over Me Too', which steadily rose on the charts and earned Miller the distinction as the first independent Canadian country artist to reach #1 at radio with their first two singles. Tyler Joe's debut EP Sometimes I Don't, But Sometimes I Do has amassed over 20 million combined streams to date, with sophomore single ‘Fighting' hitting the Top 10 and title-track ‘Sometimes I Do' reaching the Top 5 respectively. Most recently, Miller was named SiriusXM's 2021 Top of the Country winner and was nominated for four 2021 CCMA Awards including “Album of the Year”, “Male Artist of the Year”, “Rising Star”, and “Fan's Choice”.  In 2022, Tyler Joe won the following 2022 British Columbia Music Association (BCCMA) Awards: Single of the Year, Album of the Year & SOCAN Songwriter of the Year. Tyler Joe will play the Cavendish Beach Music Festival in in Cavendish, PEI in early July. Full details at cavendishbeachmusicfestival.com.

We apologize to our audience for the show being late this week, we had some technical difficulties that we fixed the best that we could. Coming up this week on the show Chris has a problem with safety, we take a look back at our time at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival, Brock Lesnar has returned to the UFC, the UFC has been sold for ridiculous amounts of money, the weird news story shows you can't always eat when you're hungry, even when you think you're safe to do so and we are joined in studio by Matt Surette and for the first time ever, live in studio, ol' SD is in the house….AND…. AND we are joined via telephone by the one, the only, the Dude himself, Darren "Dude" O'Donnell. Follow us on Twitter: @rschriscole @langille @whatsthefinish

We've got a great pair of aritst interviews this week, and they certainly contrast as far as musical styles go. First up, we bring you a conversation with on-the-rise country performer Trinity Bradshaw. A native of Prince Edward Island, Trinity now calls Calgary home and has been garnering a lot of attention and accolades of late. She's performed the Viper Room in LA, the Bluebird in Nashville, and major Canadian country festivals like the Cavendish Beach Music Festival, Big Valley Jamboree, Boots and Hearts, and Calgary Stampede. We'll speak to the Alberta CMA nominee about the year she's had and what's coming up on the horizon. Then, switching gears, we've got one of Canadian rock's hottest acts, Saskatoon's One Bad Son. Over the past couple of years, the band has had multiple radio hits, toured alongside Buckcherry, Three Days Grace, and Monster Truck, and is currently prepping for an upcoming Fall 2014 release. We'll chat about the progress on that and what fans can expect from the four-piece powerhouse.

JORDAN McINTOSH's 2013 singleGrew Up In A Country Song relies heavily on his own experiences and plays out like a series of lyrical snapshots from a classic country tune; all drawn from his memories of growing up in the rural community of Carleton Place. “In Country music every song tells a different story and I wanted to write something that paid respect to where I’m from.”  Jordan is nominated for the Rising Star award at this year's Country Music Association of Ontario awards show which take place on May 26th. He'll also be performing at the awards show that night. Earlier this year, he was part of the Young Guns tour featuring Brett Kissell and One More Girl. He also has performances lined up at Manitoba’s Dauphin Country Fest, the Havelock Country Jamboree, PEI’s Cavendish Beach Music Festival and a return to Boots and Hearts in August.  He's proud to be part of the CCMA (Canadian Country Music Association) Discovery Program. The mandate of the program is to create a national program to support country music artists to reach their potential by providing educational, mentorship, networking, and exposure opportunities. Jordan is signed to Big Star Recordings - the independent label run by Invictus Entertainment Group (Jim Cressman) and distributed by Universal Music Canada. His debut album with them - featuring the current single That Girl - is set for release in June 2014.
