Upon meeting Singer-Songwriter, Jessica Pearson , you are sure to feel the warmth she so effortlessly conveys. There is a grounded current of energy that runs through Jessica's music. Her soul-stirring melodies and gorgeous modern folk-country arrangements, will move you to see fields of heather on a foggy day. She is the sunlight that leaks through your windows, and the laugh that brightly echoes through your day. Her love for storytelling, drawing on folk, outlaw country, and Celtic traditions, is evident in her songwriting. The stories she tells are like lovingly-sewn patchwork quilts, stitched together by soul-stirring melodies and gorgeous modern folk-country arrangements. They are the quilts you spread out under the stars, and the ones you wrap yourself in all winter long. These stories, with their frayed edges, become more beautiful the longer you sit with them. In 2021, Pearson received the Folk Music Ontario ‘ Songs from the Heart ' award for her song Ready My Heart. She was also selected for Global Music Match, a program created to connect artists internationally on social media platforms during the COVID-19 pandemic. Jessica Pearson & the East Wind was also nominated for ‘ Group of the Year ' at the 2021 Capital Music Awards and nominated for ‘ Album of the Year ' at the 2022 and 2023 Faces Awards. I won Diamonds in the Rough Showcase performance at the Canadian Country Music Awards 2023. Her long-awaited debut album On the Line was released in January 2022 through Willow Sound Records , to a sold-out crowd and her new single “Row ” comes out on June 30th, 2023.

Marie Bottrell, got her start in country music at an early age when she joined the family band. A natural performer and gifted songwriter, it didn't take long for Marie to get noticed. At age 17 she began recording for The Mercey Brothers label and from there it was on to RCA. Beginning in the late 1970's and into the late 1980's, Marie maintained a tremendously busy touring schedule. During this time she was twice named Female Artist of the Year at the Canadian Country Music Awards. In addition to those wins were another 7 nominations by the association. For 8 consecutive years, Marie was nominated for Country Female Artist of the Year at the Juno Awards. She released five albums and charted five Top 10 singles, many of which she wrote or co-wrote and in 2010, Bottrell was named to the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. I was happy to hear her story from the early days in London, Ontario, to grinding it out in smokey bars on the long road across Canada, to the dark side of the music business and where she's at today.

How do you rewrite the rules and still be successful? Nothing happens when you are always conforming to what everybody's doing. Get on the fringe, connect with like-minded people, and scale. Mike Schwartz is a musician first fitness professional. He is an author, an educator, is also known as the rock doctor. He's contributed to Canadian Musician Magazine, appeared on Rick Barker's Music Industry blueprint podcast. And since offering his 2017 publication, 'The Musicians Guide to Surviving the Rockstar Lifestyle. He's the director of performance at the Music Fit Collective and the creator of the Music Fit Method, which is the world's premier holistic coaching system that is specifically designed to optimize the rock star lifestyle. In this episode, Mike shares what he's learned in Hockey that he is now using in his business. He is the first to say that you do a lot of things you can do to figure out where you do best and gravitate there when you are starting. He points to paying attention to the language you use yourself as it has the power to let you carry those behaviors. He talks about what music brings to him that Hockey did not and why he is so into it now. He also talks about Music Fit Collective and the revolutionary idea of how it came about. What a good coach should be is what he lets everyone know about. Why there is value in getting a mentor shows how he regards having continuous education of oneself. He believes in rewriting rules and being successful; of living on the fringe and making things happen, and asking the right questions, not just someone who has all the answers. That's exactly how he lives his life, asking questions and getting the answers within to transform others' lives. A prolific songwriter, Kenny was noticed by Nashville' legendary songwriter Harlan Howard and soon Kenny began writing for Harlan Howard songs one of the most prestigious publishing houses in the country. This also led to a publishing and recording deal with Curb records Nashville. His show is comprised of a combination of classic country songs that have inspired him, some of the songs that Kenny has written for other artists or for himself as well as some fantastic stories of his life and loves in music. Kenny has had a very successful career with several songs reaching the top 40 nationally over 100 of his original songs recorded and 14 critically acclaimed CDs to his credit. He has also won or been nominated for several Canadian Country Music Awards and BC country music awards including Male vocalist of the year, Songwriter of the year, producer and Album of the year.
