"This episode was removed from all platforms but is now fully restored. This is Episode 293, originally recorded on November 3rd, 2020."After graduating top of his class from Centennial College's Radio and Television Program in 1992 he began working almost immediately at one of North America's blowtorch stations, the legendary CFRB AM 1010. He received his “doctorate” in broadcasting working as the producer for such talk show legends as Larry Solway, Ed Needham, the late Brian Linehan, Andy Barrie, John Oakley, Michael Coren, Jim Richards and Spider Jones. In 1999 he took over the microphone for the first time with his own talk show and by 2000, his arcane Sunday night program examining political intrigue, the dark side of geo-politics, cover-ups, corruption, alternative energy, alternative health and unexplained phenomenon had become an appointment tune. In 2003, his special brand of talk was chronicled on the front page of The Globe and Mail's Review section (Canada's national newspaper) and that spring his show earned a 13 share in Toronto's very competitive market.Later in 2003, Richard left CFRB for cross-town rival, AM 640 to build and produce an edgy, funny new morning show and continue his own unique show on Friday nights. The show continued to be a ratings grabber, drawing a larger audience than the stations' hockey broadcasts of the city's beloved Maple Leafs.Richard was lured back to CFRB in early 2007 to host five nights a week. Over its two-year The Mighty Aphroditerun, it garnered a dedicated, even zealous, following. He consistently beat his rival in the market, the behemoth Coast to Coast by as much as 2 share points. When Richard's show was suddenly and unexpectedly cut from CFRB's line-up as part of a ‘corporate reorganization,' Richard's devoted listeners organized and staged a rally outside the radio station in minus 30 degree weather! Despite being off the air, his past, archived RB shows continue to be downloaded from his website. One of his last shows in December of 2008 has been downloaded in excess of 31,000 times.Richard has struck a chord with a huge market and has become the new voice of alternative talk radio. Richard is not, however, a one-note wonder. As a whimsical impressionist, he had created followings for his fictitious characters during his morning show producing stint, and he is recognized for his political acuity.

Doctor Bird Productions is looking to bring something fresh and new to Toronto's performance world. We want to put on productions that stretch the imagination, that bring smiles to peoples faces and help to make people walk away with new thoughts and new ideas. We hope to put on new productions in Canada and hope to reimagine shows that have been so important to the makeup of Torontos performance world. We are committed to the practice of color-conscious casting. We recognize that considerations of race, including how race and ethnicity shape society and the stories we tell, are vital components to the casting process. Also critical to the casting process are audience perceptions of race on stage and in film. We strive to craft performances in ways that respect, care for, and honor individuals, cultures, and communities of color. Furthermore, we recognize that the practice of white-washing erases culturally and racially specific stories and experiences. White-washing takes away opportunities from people of color and reinforces the dangerous notion of white superiority. Therefore, we reject this practice. In light of this, we seek to be inclusive and color-conscious not only in our casting but also in the material we choose to stage. Seneca College and Centennial College competed against each other in a volleyball match...a couple of weeks ago in Canada. The match between Seneca and Centennial is causing outrage...because both teams featured biological men competing against women. We react to both Seneca and Centennial allowing biological males to compete on their female volleyball team. We also react to a clip from a media outlet covering the story...where they confront students about this situation. We provide two solutions to this ongoing problem...and explain why women will have to unite to solve it.

With Lisa, we jumped right in with a discussion about female rage, considered the failings of media for middle age women and teenage girls, and shared some nostalgic memories of Courtney Love — who Lisa has defended loudly enough to get her thrown out of parties. We are unhappy with the misogyny that is baked into pop culture and social media, but we are happy to have conversations with someone like Lisa who is doing work to interrupt it.Lisa Whittington-Hill is a writer based in Toronto, Canada. Kim used to own a company called upward motion, which built simulations based on assessments to help people and businesses make better-recruiting decisions. Her ex-husband used to be her business partner, and despite their differing leadership styles, they got along pretty smoothly. Things started to collide when she worked with her ex-husband. While everything else in their relationship was breaking apart, Kim found it difficult to work with her ex-husband. She then decided to buy him out of the company with a shotgun clause. Kim's ex-husband bought her out of the firm after refusing to accept the offer. She found herself without direction all of a sudden. She was a single parent with dependent children who had lost her business to her ex-husband, who had assisted her in growing it. Because some people associate their identity with the nature of their profession, she lost her sense of self. Kim found solace in journaling, dealing with raging emotions, including divorce, the loss of her business, and the loss of her identity. After all, she saw the process as healing and recovering direction and concentration on what she wanted to achieve with her life. She was finally employed as a VP of Marketing for a company whose fundamental ideals include assisting people in living their best lives. Kim was encouraged to pursue landmark education while working for a coaching firm. She found it fascinating because there were things she couldn't express verbally or academically, but Kim understood from her soul, from her core, because it resonated with her since that's how she functions and views the world in general. As a result, she founded her organization, where she focuses on assisting folks in living remarkable lives. Kim Ades discusses the value of having a coach guiding and assisting you in moving from a dark period in your life to better days in this episode. She emphasizes the necessity of having a positive mindset and attitude to navigate life's challenges successfully. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Tracey Bissett discuss:Looking beyond the numbers Communicating finance with kids Understanding cash flow Building credit history Key Takeaways:Look a little bit broader, don't be blinded by big salary numbers. Make sure that you're developing relationships and that you really value the work, you like the people you work with and the clients that you serve. Communicate finances clearly with children. Explain simple concepts that are appropriate for their age. At the same time teach them to look at finances positively with an abundant perspective. Keep the dialogue going and follow up. You must understand how cash flows in and out of your business. Money comes in and money goes out, the timing of when that happens is what you need to understand. In the early parts of your business seek credit immediately even if you don't need it. You need to start the clock of your business's credit history as soon as possible. "Being able to think for yourself and get information from a variety of sources and actually make up your own mind is really key… challenge everything. Stick with the facts, make sure the numbers are based on reality." — Tracey Bissett Check out “Easy Peasy Finance” by clicking here: www.youtube.com/c/EasyPeasyFinance/ See Dean's TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I Connect with Tracey Bissett: Website: https://www.bissettfinancialfitness.com/ | https://ymwithtraceybissett.libsyn.com/Twitter: https://twitter.com/bissettfinfitInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/bissettfinfit/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bissettfinfit/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/traceybissett/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/TraceyBissettTheMoneyCoachforEntrepreneurs Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.com
