This week on the show Maine and Miranda recap F2W 181 and SUG 26In the news section of the show we discuss the women's brackets for WNO championship; we looked at the Heavyweight bracket and the strawweight bracket for the event with $30,000 on the line for each bracket we discussed the front runners and who he thought had the best shot at taking the prize.In the recap section of the show we discussed fight to win 181 headline by Lucas Pinheiro vs Gabriel Sousa, We discussed the great position of work from both Grapplers including some nice single leg x and x guard transitional work we also discussed how pleased we were both Grapplers were willing to concede position to continue working and not simply fight for a non-scoring sweep during the match we discussed the kneebar attempt from Gabriel  that ended up securing his decision win.In our recap of Marcos Torregrosa vs Angel Lopez We talked about the finishing sequence Marcos hit on Lopez that included a great grip switch at the end of the lapel in order to secure the scarf hold choke.  We also discussed a number of variations for this choke and some names that we have heard it called by over the years.In our discussion of Fellipe Andrew vs Max Gimenis We talked about the Ironclad positional work of Andrew from The Sweep to the maintenance of top mount and top position and generally being in control of the match from Bell to Bell. In our recap of submission underground 26 (SUG) We kicked it off of the discussion of the only submission in regulation on the card in Justin Renick defeating Phelan Carron via Armbar off of the cage, prefaced with some interesting commentary.  We gave our thoughts on the Tag Team Main event that seemed very exploitable due to the rules. We also briefly discussed Gabriel Checco victory over Danilo Marques, Gillian Robertson win over Katlyn Chookagian That saw her Implement an interesting overtime strategy going from the back to the arm triangle and keeping position.  Plus Andy Varela defeating Kevin Casey, In overtime after Casey defended a very deep rear-naked choke for much of the regulation.In the outro section of the show Miranda discussed going up to Philadelphia to train with Josh Hinger, and Kristian Woodmansee; or a few days including training without air conditioning and some of the technical differences in the grapplers games. Bloody Elbow fight experts, Zane Simon & Dayne Fox, are here tonight – Sat, June 26th, to breakdown the UFC VEGAS 30: Ciryl Gane vs Alexander Volkov Fight Night event, which was broadcast from the UFC APEX Center in Las Vegas, NV. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. Returning to the down-sized APEX octagon for the main event, we had a Heavyweight tilt between the #3 ranked, former TKO Heavyweight Champion, Ciryl ‘Bon Gamin' Gane, with an impressive undefeated 8-0 record for an up-and-comer, including defeats against Rozenstruik, JDS and Boser; and his opponent tonight being the #5 ranked, former M-1 Global & Bellator MMA Champion, The Russian contender Alexander ‘Drago' Volkov; who was coming off victories over Overeem and Walt Harris, both in the second round. Gane was the slight favorite going into this bout, with a lot of believers thinking he is on his way to title contention. In the co-main event, we had a Light Heavyweight contest featuring, ‘OSP' – Ovince St. Preux, aka: ‘Von Preux choke' specialist, an unorthodox fighter, who was coming at this bout off a loss to Jamahal Hill last December. His opponent in this bout was Tanner ‘The Bulldozer' Boser; the Canadian brawler had a decent 19-8 record, but was coming into the octagon tonight off of two losses to Ilir Latifi and Andrei Arlovski since last winter. Also on the card, Timur ‘Lucky' Valiev won a hard fought battle to the decision against Raoni Barcelos, making him having won three contests in three weight classes. We also had an exciting Featherweight clash when Andre ‘Touchy' Fili went up against Daniel ‘The Pit' Pineda, in a brawl that ended when Fili accidentally let his hand slip off the chest of Pineda resulting in an accidental eye poke so severe it ended the bout in a NO CONTEST, which was a shame because Fili was en route to likely winning that bout later in the second round. Prior to that, we had exciting matchups between Tim Means and Nicolas Dalby and Renato Moicano vs. Jai Herbert. Overall, this 13-bout card saw 3 1st Rd finishes, 5 KO/TKO's – 1 stoppage, 2 subs, & 6 decisions - 1 of those being Split. Rounding things out, bonuses for putting forth POTN efforts went to Matt Brown & Seungwoo Choi; FOTN honors went to Vera vs. Grant. UFC heavyweights Alistair Overeem and Alexander Volkov kick off the return to the UFC in a big way. While we'll get to finally see Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns later this month, UFC Fight NIght 184 is stacked with amazing fights. The co-main event features a bout between Cory Sandhagen and the UFC legend Frankie Edgar. Sandhagen came back strong after the loss to Aljamain Sterling and finished Marlon Moraes pretty easily. Edgar is also coming off a big win, after finally getting in the Octagon with Pedro Munhoz and taking away a split decision win. There is UFC title implications here, and Peter Yan already has a date with Aljamain Sterling in March for UFC 259. Some of the big fights to keep an eye on will be Carlos Ferreira and Beneil Dariush. This too will have UFC title implications and a big win will shoot one of these guys into a big UFC name fight. The same can be said for Alexander Pantoja and Manel Kape. Pantoja has plenty of UFC experience under his belt, but Kape, the Portuguese RIZIN champion is hungry and ready to feast on the UFC flyweight division. This has the makings of a Fight of the Night performance from both men.
