In this episode, we take a look at a topic that combines agriculture and the energy transition: agri-photovoltaics in India. India is considered one of the largest agricultural markets in the world and at the same time a hotspot for solar energy. But how can these two worlds be successfully combined in practice? Which technologies are gaining ground? And which political conditions are accelerating or slowing down the market ramp-up? We discussed this with Tobias Winter, who heads the Indo-German Energy Forum Support Office in India. About Tobias Winter Mr. Tobias Winter was born in East Berlin, Germany and holds a degree in Business Administration of the Rhine-Westphalia Institute of Technology Aachen (RWTH Aachen University). During his career, Mr. Winter has gained professional experience in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects and the corresponding legislation in Germany, India, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. He first came to India in 2005 to develop a solar water desalination project with TERI Bangalore. He then worked in Argentina implementing solar energy solutions in the highland region Puna. From 2009 to 2014, he was the Director of the Competence Center in Renewable Energies for the German Chambers Network in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. In 2015, he came back to India, since then leading the Support Office of the Indo-German Energy Forum, to promote cooperation in energy security, energy efficiency, renewable energies, investments in energy projects and collaborative research and development with participation from India and Germany. The Indo-German Energy Forum Support Office has been tasked by Prime Minister Modi and Chancellor Scholz to implement the Indo-German Green Hydrogen Task Force. The Indo-German Energy Forum is part of the Bilateral Energy Partnerships – the central instrument of the energy policy of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. With now more than 30 partner countries, they form a global, steadily growing and valuable network between Germany and strategic partner countries that want to transform their energy systems for a sustainable, economically attractive and secure energy transition. The declared aim of the Bilateral Energy Partnerships is to shape a successful global energy transition that combines security of supply, decarbonization of industry and foreign trade promotion with effective climate protection.

It lies in the Puna de Atacama, a region of tall volcanic peaks on a high plateau close to the Atacama Desert, one of the driest places in the world. Its maximum elevation is most commonly given as 6,723 metres (22,057 ft), making it the second- or third-highest volcano in the world. Despite its height, it is not clear whether the volcano has any glaciers or merely patches of perennial snow and ice. Between 3700 m and 5000 m elevation there is a sparse plant cover, while at lower altitudes the climate is too dry for plants to grow. A species of mouse on Llullaillaco is the highest-living known vertebrate species.The volcano formed during the Pleistocene in two stages, named Llullaillaco I and Llullaillaco II. The oldest rocks are about 1.5 million years old. About 150,000 years ago, the volcano's southeastern flank collapsed, generating a debris avalanche that reached as far as 25 kilometres (16 mi) from the summit. During the last stage, three conspicuous lava flows were emplaced on the summit. The youngest dated rocks are 930 ± 140 years old, but there are reports of activity from the 19th century. This repatriation was noteworthy as the first ever successful repatriation of ancestral remains from Cambridge by any Indigenous community. For 33 years, Hui Iwi Kuamo'o has provided care for iwi kūpuna (ancestral Hawaiian bones), moepū (funerary possessions) and mea kapu (sacred objects) through repatriation and reburial. This is part 2 of my travel series about my recent trip to India with my family. (Part 1 was Mumbai).   My father's younger brother (my “kaka” in Gujarati) lives in Pune, so that was our main reason to visit. Pune is about 4 hours by road from Mumbai. It's higher in elevation and has a cooler climate than Mumbai. This was my first time visiting Pune and it was so fun! I loved the vibes of the city a lot! Throughout our visit, we enjoyed the food, the local attractions, and, more food! Pune is a very historical city so we did a heritage walk of many old sites in the center of Pune. It was tiring but very educational. We had an amazing guide from an organization called INTACH. Listen for more details about the tour! We also visited Aga Khan Palace – where Mahatma Gandhi was kept under house arrest during India's war of independence. Super fun and educational!   Pune is also known for it's ancient temples, so we visited a ton! My favorite was Pataleshwar, an ancient temple, which is more than 1200 years old! That absolutely blew my mind!! Another fun activity we did was taking the stairs up a mountain called “Parvati”. There were so many super cute puppies on the way! There was a museum about the Peshawas on top. And also a temple, so that was fun. : It wasn't a hard hike for me but I could see the adults in our group get tired. :)   The food was so good – different from Mumbai but still so so good! Puna missal – spicy bean curry + local bread (pav) Vada paav – fried potatoes + chutnies + local break (pav) Marathi thaali – multiple curries/subzis, daals and sweets. So filling! And super yummy! Listen for more things we did!   Overall the city felt a little more laid back than Mumbai, but there some similarities, like the street dogs. People were so mean to them! Hawaii Island police detectives have reclassified the 2022 death of a 5-month-old boy in Puna as a homicide. Police say they've sent the murder investigation to the county prosecutor's office for review. A Puna man was arrested on multiple gun charges, including possessing loaded firearms on public property, Hawaii Island prosecutors said on Monday.
