The Anarchy is an intriguing and often forgotten period of history. There are fascinating characters and moments of deep political importance to England's development as a state. The involvement of women in the Anarchy is vital to understanding how it played out over almost two decades. In this episode of Gone Medieval, Matt Lewis talks to Sharon Bennett Connolly - author of Women of the Anarchy - in which she demonstrates how certain women were prime movers in a time of conflict and how their strengths, weaknesses and personal ambitions swung the fortunes of civil war one way - and then the other. This episode was produced by Rob Weinberg.Enjoy unlimited access to award-winning original documentaries that are released weekly and AD-FREE podcasts. Benevolent cyborgs. Not a phrase you hear often these days. With all the hand-wringing and media fear-mongering about AI and new technologies, we seem to have lost the bigger vision of how technology can improve our lives. That's why today, I'm speaking with Dr. Cori Lathan, a techno-optimist who believes technology can be used to build empathy and connection. Today we discuss how Star Wars and a very creative 2nd grade teacher sparked her journey into innovation and invention, how technology is being used to build empathy and connection, why empathy makes a better design team, and the future of human-machine interaction. To access the episode transcript, please click on the episode title at www.TheEmpathyEdge.com Key Takeaways:Technology can be a tool to help children achieve developmental milestones and build empathy. The media will give the negative side of AI and technology because it gets better views and clicks. But great things are happening with technology that is helping to create a beautiful future. Designing tech is about more than what happens behind the computer screen. It is about understanding the user experience and what it means for your end user. "We are creating the future, someone isn't doing it for us. We can create the future we want to see. We can choose the direction it goes." — Dr. Cori Lathan Episode References: Dr. Cori Lathan's Book: Inventing the Future, Stories from a Techno-Optimist: https://inventthefuture.tech/Dr. Cori Lathan's TEDx Talk: Innovation, Empathy, and the Future of Human-Machine Interaction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnV6QDhwvhkThe Empathy Edge Podcast: Ron Gura: How Technology Helps People Navigate GriefBrand Story Breakthrough course to help you craft a clear, compelling brand story - includes weekly office hours with Maria!About Corinna Lathan + Founder and Former Board Chair and CEODr. Corinna Lathan is a technology entrepreneur who has developed robots for kids with disabilities, virtual reality technology for the space station, and wearable sensors for training surgeons and soldiers. Today's conversation is all about the Disruptive Women. We're going to discuss how women are disrupting all industries with thinking that is so different from the status quo that it completely revolutionizes the sphere in which it operates. Now, let's start today's conversation!
Do you feel like you have been left on the shelf? We discuss with Letitia Shelton, founder of City Women in Toowoomba, some of the amazing work she and her team are involved with in their community but also explore how as a single you don't have to wait for your life partner before you can serve God with all your heart. Book series by guest: Disruptive Women.
**Not Suitable for Children** Research shows that a large percentage of young Australians learn about sex from pornography and unfortunately many are exposed to it from as young as 8 to 11 years of age. It's statistics like these that drive Letitia in her work as founder of City Women in Toowoomba. She believes that like smoking society can quit another harmful addiction. We discuss the work she's involved with, including “A City Free from Porn.” Book series by guest: Disruptive Women.

Those who were afraid of fainting were much more likely to choose the J&J one-shot vaccine given all options - so J&J sites self-select for a more fainty crowd. Tip: drink 16 oz of a caffeinated drink one hour before, and don't get the immunity on an empty stomach. Feel woozy? Crouch or bring one leg up to push blood back into your brain. Fainting can act as a warrior response, allowing someone to faint but stay alive in battle. A CDC study of fainting with the HPV vaccine found no one fainted in the Buzzy group, but 1/10 did in the "listen to music" group.Meditation was commonly user suggested as a tool for handling needle fear where topical anesthetic was not present at all. This week, I'm excited to welcome Dr Amy Baxter to the podcast. Dr. Baxter directs innovation, invention, operations and strategy for Pain Care Labs. After graduating from Yale University and Emory Medical School, as a double boarded pediatric emergency physician, Dr. Baxter founded PEMA Emergency Research while also founding Pain Care Labs (initially called MMJ Labs). Accomplishments include multiple NIH SBIR Fast-Tracks and review panel service, writing and overseeing patent strategy, and successfully pursuing 510(k) FDA clearances. Recognition includes Forbes Ten Healthcare Disruptors, Inc. Top Women in Tech to Watch, Top 10 Innovative and Disruptive Women in Healthcare, a Wall Street Journal “Idea Person,” and the Most Innovative CEO from Georgia Bio. National and international lecturing highlights include Exponential Medicine “Future of Pain Management”, TEDx, State Department VentureWell keynote, and TEDMED. Questions asked in the episode How might we know if our pain is normal or if we should see a medical professional? What strategies do you recommend for managing chronic pain? When should we use ice for pain as some say this strategy is outdated? https://180nutrition.com.au/ This week, I'm excited to welcome Dr. Amy Baxter to the podcast. Dr. Baxter is a double-boarded pediatric emergency physician, and now CEO of Pain Care Labs with a mission to eliminate unnecessary pain. She invented and patented VibraCool, vibrating cryotherapy to treat tendonitis and decrease opioid use, and her Buzzy device has been used to control needle pain for over 32 million needle procedures. She has been named a healthcare game-changer, healthcare transformer and most innovative CEO of the year. In this episode, we discuss the topic of pain management using tools and techniques, including vibration, heat, cold and mindset. Over to Dr. Baxter. Hey guys, this is Stu from 180 Nutrition, and I'm delighted to welcome Dr. Amy Baxter to the podcast. Dr. Baxter, how are you? Amy 01:41 I am doing wonderfully this afternoon for me and morning for you. Stu 01:45 Yes. Yeah. Connecting via the internet once again. Thank you so much for sharing some of your time today. But, first up, for all those that may not be familiar with you or your work, I'd love it if you could just tell us a little bit about yourself, please. Amy 01:58 Sure. I am a pediatric emergency doctor by training. I did most of my clinical work in any areas of suffering. So I did a child abuse fellowship, I did pediatrics, I did research in nausea, I invented the BARF scale for children with cancer to be able to say, "That barfing face, that's the one I feel like." Now I am a full-time CEO of a medical device company that blocks out sharp pain. Stu 02:27 Wow, fantastic. Well, interesting topic then because pain is very personal, it's very unique to the individual. I guess first question then when talking about pain, many of us will be subject to pain throughout our days, weeks, lives, whether it be headache, sports injury, leading to perhaps more serious complications where pain is involved. How might we know if our pain is normal, i.e., "Oh, it's just a headache," or we should see a medical professional? "Who the f••k are you and how'd you get in here?" No one told her entrepreneurship would be easy, and this response from a fabric buyer that JoFit Founder Joanne Cloak was looking for advice from proved this point. But rather than let this greeting deter her, Joanne turned the conversation around and used it as the launchpad for her incredible startup journey. For our opening episode of Season 5, Colin speaks with Joanne about her transformation from high school gym teacher to one of The LPGA Women's Network "22 Disruptive Women who are Spearheading a Revolution in Golf (https://lpgawomensnetwork.com/meet-the-disruptors-the-women-who-are-spearheading-a-revolution-in-golf/)".
