WRAS's Drew Murray and Jeff Walker- In addition to arriving at WRAS during the station's infancy in the early 1970s, Drew Murray has the distinction of being the very first voice on the brand new “96 Rock” when WKLS flipped from beautiful music. And Jeff Walker is the WRAS staffers who just can't leave! Jeff was PD in 1981, then GM, then Operations manager and Advisor off and on from 1986 to today. (He even retired once, but it didn't stick.) Meanwhile, both Drew and Jeff also worked commercial radio in Atlanta, and have a lot to tell about the history of Album 88, including the birth the iconic “Album 88” name. It's all here in the latest FOGRPod podcast with Dennis Winslow.
Today we will talk to my friend Drew Murray with M Group. We will discuss his family business, his early years in the industry and how he sees things going now.

The Mass Effect: Legendary Edition has surprisingly become one of the most anticipated releases for many in 2021, after it was finally revealed late last year. While excitement has still stayed high on the project, many aspects and details regarding it have remained hidden as its Spring release date has begun to creep up. That is until recently. This week, we examine the new info dump regarding the remastered versions of Bioware’s legendary trilogy, why it feels to be somewhere caught between a remake and a remaster, and what Bioware has to do to ensure the Legendary Edition helps cement Mass Effect’s future in the eyes of its fans. Plus, Drew Murray, Design Director on The Initiative’s new Perfect dark entry is stepping away from his position within the studio. While career fluidity in the games industry is common, should fans of the upcoming reimagining be a bit concerned regarding the future of the project with Murray’s exit, or is it’s seemingly long dev cycle a big enough safety net for the vision of this game? Also, the Embracer Group is officially acquiring Borderlands development studio Gearbox to the tune of $1.3 billion dollars. What does this mean for the future of the Frisco-based studio and their long running IPs like Borderlands and Brothers in Arms? We are very pleased that we were able to talk to Drew Murray about his latest book "Broken Genius." You'll find Drew at the intersection of technology and creativity, hard at work on creating another thrilling story. Passionate about tech, the forces that drive it, and the impact on our society, Drew created the Will Parker series both to entertain and examine the darker side of technology. Drew grew up in Southwestern Ontario, obtained an MBA from the Ivey Business School, and had a successful career in corporate technology before transitioning into investing and education. Drew has travelled throughout Europe, North America, South America and the South Pacific on business and pleasure. An avid story teller since he was a child, Drew has been an actor, an educator and now an author. "Broken Genius": In 2011, Will Parker, the young prodigy CEO of a big tech company makes a coding mistake that costs a college student her life. To assuage his guilt, Will pursues a career in the FBI Cyber Division. Now, Special Agent Will Parker is called to investigate a murder scene at a Comic Con event in the Midwest, where the victim has ties to a radioactive quantum computer that Will was working on before he left his gig as CEO. Working with smart local homicide detective Dana Lopez and FBI stuffed-shirt Thomas Decker, Will discovers the victim was holding an auction for the computer on the Dark Web—and the bidding is still live. With bidders including a legendary Chinese hacker, Russian criminals sent by the Kremlin, and a corporate executive desperate to escape a scandal, Will once again finds a life in his hands when the victim's daughter is taken hostage. A trail of blood and high-tech breadcrumbs leads Will deeper into mystery, danger, and a race against time to keep unlimited power out of the wrong hands.

Following her Oscar win, Julia engaged in some lighter fare. In 2001, she was the sole woman in the Ocean's Eleven ensemble. She reprised her role as Tess Ocean in the film's much more meta sequel three years later. Join us as we discuss Julia Roberts playing Julia Roberts, why Steven Soderbergh is the Rembrandt of our time, and how to cash a check for $198 million. Hosted by Michael (@cateblanchetttt), with Red Scott (@red_scott), Drew Murray (@drew_murray12) and Walt Hickey (@walthickey). In the late '90s, Julia needed to mix it up. Her romantic comedies were box office juggernauts, but she needed something more. After all, she didn't get into acting to pretend to love Dermot Mulroney. She needed an Oscar. Stepmom was not the film that would help Julia achieve her goal, but it got her on the path to Oscar glory. It also acclimated audiences to the idea that Julia could convincingly play a mother. In 2000, Julia landed her Oscar vehicle: Erin Brockovich, the true story of a hard-working legal assistant trying to take down a corporation for polluting the water. Big speeches! Female empowerment! A background role for Aaron Eckhart! Erin Brockovich had it all, and in March 2001, Julia marched up the steps of the Shrine Auditorium to collect her Oscar. Join us as we discuss Julia's chemistry with Ed Harris, whether Stepmom would be better if it were about lesbians, and the much-debated Roberts v. Burstyn Oscar showdown. Hosted by Michael (@cateblanchetttt), with Kevin Jacobsen (@kevin_jacobsen) and Drew Murray (@drew_murray12). Please let us know your thoughts on the new miniseries by leaving us a review on iTunes! In this episode Scott talks with guest host Chris Warkocki about 3D printing in a lot more detail than we have in past episodes. He as been intensely tinkering with 3D printing and currently has 4 printers. We talk about prusa machines such as the original, i3 MK2S, and I3MK3. The biggest advancement these days comes in the form of reliability. The I3MK3, for example, has a magnetic flexible steel bed, 256 micro-stepping Trinamic drivers, and the ability to sense if filament is almost out. Technology is advancing rapidly thanks to the global reprap community of tinkers that share knowledge. Chris has been printing figures and terrain for D&D campaigns as well as various other printing projects. He does a lot of modding and adjustment to his printers to get the best quality possible such as using modified Ikea Lack coffee tables as 3d printer housings. This episode is a 3D printing extravaganza of information! Americans hear the name Glen Doherty and know him as one of the brave Navy SEALs killed while contracting in Benghazi, Libya on September 11th, 2012. To Sean Lake and Brandon though, they remember their great friend who was an avid skier and put a smile on everyone's face. Sean, an experienced snowboarder, lived with Glen from 2010 on and acted as the executive to Glen's estate when he was killed, and on this episode we hear the story of both Brandon and Sean's reaction when they heard the devastating news of what happened to their friend that night. Sean let this tragic event become the catalyst for making change however, when he helped to start the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation with a simple philosophy in mind borrowed from Glen's way of life, to work hard and play hard. Glen "Bub" Doherty also became the inspiration for Bub's Naturals, a new company created by Sean that produces their own collagen protein powder. Sean discusses the benefits of collagen, how it appeals to him as an athlete, and why it's something he could have seen Glen and himself benefiting from during their CrossFit days. Most importantly, 10% of every sale of Bub's Naturals goes to the Glen Doherty Memoral Foundation. Today is the first of a batch of four podcasts I recorded in the same day. In the intro I tell you about how my adventures started out. On the podcast we have Christopher e. Patocka. We got together at Stories BooksandCafe and talked about his adventure to Los Angeles and some of his first impressions. We also talked about what he has been working on musically, and what it's like working with musicians in LA. We also had Drew Murray hanging out with us who adds a few thoughts throughout the conversation. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did.Featured music:"Dance at Night" by Skyrocket_Daydream off Skyrocket_Daydream"The Cosmonaut" by Skyrocket_Daydream off The Cosmonaut/Project 18Learn more here: https://www.skyrocketdaydream.com/You can find, subscribe, rate, and review the podcast on iTunes for iOS, Google Play Music, Stitcher Radio and Spreaker for Android.Become a Patreon partner to the podcast! https://www.patreon.com/thezim Success In Seattle Music Pt. 3 - Support: The Seattle Freeze Is Real! https://youtu.be/CU0HQSHA3xw
