Surprising new data is in on whether GenZ men or women are leaving the church. We dig into and get all robust with this conversation. Are young men feeling isolated, unsupported, and under constant attack in today's culture? When they turn to the church for guidance, they often find little support, leading many to seek controversial internet figures instead. Some feel masculinity has been attacked and stripped away in the social media age, yet it remains prominent in the real world. Amidst discussions on toxic masculinity, there's a perceived lack of initiatives nurturing positive masculine growth and responsibility among young men. This may be contributing to Gen Z Christian males becoming more religious than their female peers, who are increasingly religiously unaffiliated, and disillusioned potentially by abuse revelations like #MeToo and #ChurchToo. For the first time ever, young men are outpacing young women when it comes to church affiliation and religious expression. • Young men are now more religious than young women, contradicting a long-held narrative. • Young men feeling unsupported, isolated, and under constant attack, turning to controversial internet figures for guidance. • Masculinity has been attacked and stripped away in the social media age, leading to a lack of personal connection and reality. • Gen Z women increasingly religiously unaffiliated, disillusioned by #MeToo, #ChurchToo abuse revelations. • Young women leaving churches due to pastors' sexual misconduct and abuse. • Young men value traditional family life more than young women, contrasting with societal narratives promoting career success. • Complementarian churches reduce women's visibility, driving them away yet liberal denominations ordaining women decline steeply. • Conservative and liberal churches face challenges regarding growth and retention, with liberal churches struggling due to a lack of clear boundaries. What do you think? Good, bible believing Christians should just automatically be Republicans. Everybody knows this.Have you heard that sort of argument or been led to believe that this is just the "biblical" way? If so, that probably means you've been given a hearty serving of propaganda. Our friend and philosopher, Scott Coley, wrote "Ministers of Propaganda: Truth, Power and the Ideology of the Religious Right", and in it, Scott exposes the rhetoric of the religious right for what it often is - propaganda that serves an underlying motivation. In this episode, we chat with Scott about how everything from politics to science to gender and racial issues and more are propagandized by the religious right to build fear and shut down arguments. Fascinating stuff.Cheers!=====Want to support us?The best way is to subscribe to our Patreon. The Complementarian vs. Egalitarian debate has caused untold amount of arguments and division in the Church throughout the years. Complementarian's believe that women have limited roles in Church leadership while Egalitarian's believe men and women can hold the same positions in Church leadership. There's more to it than that but that's the general idea. With that said, it's not surprising that this has been a contentious topic for many. Dr. Michelle Lee Barnewall wrote a book titled "Neither Complementarian nor Egalitarian: A Kingdom Corrective to the Evangelical Gender Debate" that helps us get back to the point of the Scriptures. She asks the question, "Is the Bible concerned with who can do what, or is it calling us to something even higher that requires more love and sacrifice? Enjoy! He discusses his early years as a pastor's kid and his initial reluctance to enter ministry. Ryan's encounter with God in Iraq led him to embrace his calling and become a pastor. He talks about the shift in his ministry approach in 2020, where he started addressing controversial cultural issues and taking a stand against progressive ideologies. Ryan also shares his experience of speaking out against Andy Stanley and the challenges he faced within the AG culture. The conversation explores topics such as avoiding the perception of marketing strategy, adapting to the times and leading boldly, post-denominationalism and denominational distinctives, theological distinctives in the Assemblies of God, the role of charismatic gifting in the church, women in ministry and complementarianism, navigating the tension between charismatic and complementarian views, understanding the Assemblies of God's view on women in ministry, navigating differences in church practices, and linking arms despite theological differences.TakeawaysMinistry approaches can evolve and shift over time based on personal experiences and convictions.Addressing controversial cultural issues can lead to growth and unity within the church.Speaking out against false teachings and ideologies requires courage and a commitment to biblical truth.Categorizing people based on their commitment to biblical truth rather than denominational affiliation can foster unity and collaboration. It is important to avoid the perception of using marketing strategies or being a 'weathervane Christian' while adapting to the times and reaching people with the gospel.Leading boldly and remaining convictional is crucial in avoiding the mistakes of previous generations and effectively reaching the lost. While there is a move towards post-denominationalism, denominational distinctives can provide grounding and stability for individuals in a transient culture. The Assemblies of God has a mix of theological positions, including both Arminian and Calvinist perspectives, and a range of views on women in ministry.Charismatic gifting can bring life and vibrancy to a church, but it is important to maintain order and focus on the primary goal of salvation.Navigating the tension between charismatic and complementarian views requires understanding and respect for different theological perspectives. The Assemblies of God has a cooperative fellowship that supports and credentials women in ministry, but the number of female lead pastors is still relatively low.It is important to differentiate between churches that embrace women in ministry due to feminist ideology and those that do so based on their interpretation of scripture.Despite theological differences, it is important for churches to link arms and work together for the greater cause of the gospel. To learn more about Generations Church and Ryan Visconti's ministry, visit generation.church or follow him on social media.Support the showSign up for the Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavisFollow Full Proof Theology on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/fullprooftheology/Follow Full Proof Theology on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/fullprooftheology/

This book is not intended to take sides in cultural-religious debate between Complementarianism and Egalitarianism. Instead, Pearcey examines a socio-historical perspective of the phenomenon known as "toxic masculinity" and whether Christianity or secularism is responsible for it. Pearcey finds a number of surprising examples throughout history, and also today from prominent sociological and psychological marriage researchers. Andrew Leslie is encouraging us to first take a step back from practical concerns and reflect on the beauty and wisdom of the bible's teaching about manhood and womanhood. In much contemporary debate about gender we focus on practical questions about what different people can do.  However the head of Moore Theological College's Doctrine Department says the picture of gender in the beginning is not an arbitrary divine imposition that comes with its own set of arbitrary rules and instructions. Rather, the man and the woman together – and only together – irreducibly different and yet one inconceivable without the other, created a microcosm of God's own very being and character and glory, summing up the wisdom and creative word of God.Andrew Leslie gave the keynote addresses at the Priscilla and Aquila Conference in Sydney. What happens when we ignore God's design for gender and family? Today, we're positioning ourselves at the crux of this question, grappling with the implications of a society straying from the divine image of male and female. Darrow Miller joins us as we take a hard look at the consequences of rejecting this design, which includes the disruption of family units, distorted perceptions of marriage, and the ripple effects of the feminist movements on societal norms. As Darrow releases his newest book, The Grand Design: Rediscovering Male and Female as the Image of God, we get an idea of why he wrote it and what you can expect as a reader. This book provides a helpful exploration into feminism's history and takes a proactive approach to offer a vision of God's design for each of us–a vision that promotes unity and beauty among the sexes, in families, and even on an individual level. Let's challenge the status quo, become revolutionaries, and strive towards a harmonious society that aligns with the biblical worldview.Go deeper with the transcript and recommended resources on the Episode Landing Page!Disciple Nations Alliance Website

An article has been making the rounds in which Shannon Harris, ex-wife of 90's purity culture icon Josh Harris, claims that complementarian theology caused her harm and trauma. In the late 1990s, purity culture emphasized abstaining from sex until marriage while often employing a lot of unfortunate fear and shaming tactics along the way. Fast forward to 2018. Josh Harris disavowed the book and apologized for the harm he says he caused with his writings. A year later, he announced he was leaving Christianity completely and ending his marriage to his wife, Shannon. That's where our episode today picks up. Shannon is now speaking out about her own deconstruction and about the harm she says she suffered while living as a Christian wife in a complementarian church environment. In today's episode, Alisa and Natasha talk about some of her claims and her understanding of complementarian theology that she believes is so harmful.

Women in ministry is not an easy topic. Thousands of books have been written on the subject. In this message, Lead Pastor Jamie Nunnally gives a Biblical defense of why our church ordains women and allows them to preach. Three things you should know:1.  Men and women equally bear the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and are equal heirs of salvation in Christ (Galatians 3:28).2.  In Ancient Greek, the word for man and husband are the same, and woman and wife are the same. 3.  The Bible is written from a patriarchal perspective, because it was written in a patriarchal culture. Old TestamentMiriam – prophet (Exodus 15:20) Deborah – church government/administration (Judges 4-5) Huldah – teacher/prophet (2 Kings 22:11-20) These were exceptions – almost all leadership was male. No female priests—the highest ranking spiritual position in Israel. New TestamentAnna – prophet (Luke 2:36)Phoebe – deacon and "ruler." (Romans 16:1-2)Junia – apostle (Romans 16:7)Priscilla – teacher (Acts 18:24-26)Nympha – house church leader (Colossians 4:15) Women will prophesy (Acts 2:17-18)Women were the first to tell of the resurrected Jesus (John 20:11-18)Women traveled with, learned from and supported Jesus (Luke 8:1-3) Passages used to restrict women in ministry:1 Corinthians 14:34-35 1) No one believes this or else women couldn't sing or greet someone. 2) Women are given permission to pray and prophecy while wearing head covering in 1 Corinthians 11:5 – how can they also keep silent?3) The point of this whole chapter is to institute order in the church service (v 40). Paul was not creating doctrine regarding women preaching, but was solving a problem regarding women talking during the meeting. 1 Timothy 2:11-15  1) Learn submissively – Context: Paul is coaching Timothy, a new pastor in Ephesus that was known for Artemis worship and female domination.2) Gynē can be translated woman or wife.3) "Usurp authority" means to dominate, master another or even kill.4) Saved through childbearing. Women don't need Artemis to save them during childbearing,    Can a woman be a pastor?A pastor is a shepherd is one who guards and guides the flock. What about an overseer, bishop, elder - a leadership position of authority and oversight in the church?Qualifications for church leadership:1 Timothy 3:1-7 1) There are no male nouns or pronouns here except "husband of one wife" which is literally "a one woman man."2) What sort of person should be in leadership - their character and spiritual legacy. It's "all hands on deck" in the kingdom of God! I'm a pragmatist. I'm in favor of what works and I see female pastors leading people to Christ, making disciples, producing fruit and advancing the kingdom. Limiting women in ministry doesn't make sense – it removes 50% of the workforce. Since women are called to make disciples then they must teach, preach, pray, prophesy and lead, etc. – not just other women and children.
