On retrouve des Gerris sur les lacs en haute montagne, jusqu'à 2 150 mètres d'altitude. Ils sont observés à travers l'Europe, l'Asie et l'Amérique du Nord. Il existe dix espèces du genre Gerris en Europe, mais elles sont souvent très difficiles à identifier. En France, l'espèce la plus commune est le Gerris lacustre.D'autres espèces marchent sur l'eau, comme les remarquables Dolomèdes, qui sont bien des araignées cette fois ! Le Dolomède des marais, en France, peut aussi plonger et capturer des têtards ou de petits poissons. A ne pas confondre avec l'Argyronète subaquatique. Retour chez les insectes. Plus fin et plus allongé que son cousin Gerris, l'Hydromètre se déplace à la surface sur ses 6 pattes à la recherche de minuscules insectes. Les Gyrins sont des coléoptères tournant à toute vitesse à la surface de l'eau, eux aussi à la recherche de petits moucherons à croquer. Idée reçue tenace : les bêtes qui marchent à la surface de l'eau sont toutes des araignées = FAUX. Le Gerris est surnommé araignée d'eau, cependant, ce n'en est pas une ! C'est bien un insecte. Comment le sait-on ? Il possède seulement 6 pattes et non huit.Ses pattes sont d'ailleurs le secret du miracle de ce Jésus des insectes qui défie les lois de la physique. Les poils hydrophobes se trouvant sur ses longues pattes créent une tension qui lui permet de marcher sur l'eau… ou plutôt de ramer comme un kayakiste !Loin d'être seulement un délicat patineur, le Gerris est aussi un redoutable prédateur près à se jeter sur tout ce qui trouble son onde. Ses pattes antérieures ravisseuses, comme chez la Mante religieuse, lui permettent de capturer les insectes maladroits tombés à l'eau ou les petits animaux aquatiques s'approchant trop près de la surface. Gare aux piqûres pour les manipulateurs imprudents ! Le Gerris est doté d'un rostre qui lui permet de se défendre mais surtout d'aspirer le contenu de ses proies, en bon insecte piqueur-suceur. Marco Gerris is choreograaf en acteur. Gerris is regisseur, choreograaf en artistiek leider van ISH Dance Collective. Hij speelt in verschillende internationale films en vertolkte hoofdrollen in dansfilms. Ook was hij twee jaar te zien als jurylid in danstalentenjacht So You Think You Can Dance. De nieuwe productie van ISH heet Dorian en is gebaseerd op het boek The Picture of Dorian Gray van Oscar Wilde uit 1890. Femke van der Laan gaat met Marco Gerris in gesprek.

Brecht van Hulten in gesprek met choreografen Marco Gerris en Ernst Meisner Deze week gaat de dansvoorstelling 'Dorian' in première bij Nationale Opera & Ballet.  Na de successen van 'Narnia' en 'GRIMM' is Dorian de derde gezamenlijke productie van choreografen Ernst Meisner (HNB) en Marco Gerris (ISH). In deze dansthriller, gebaseerd op 'The Picture of Dorian Gray', het beroemde boek van Oscar Wilde uit 1891, komen ballet en hiphop bij elkaar. Met dansers van de Junior Company, ISH Dance Collective en van Het Nationale Ballet. Met nieuwe muziek van componist Joey Roukens. Oscar Wilde's filosofische roman 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' gaat over het streven om eeuwig jong te blijven en je daarin volledig te verliezen. Dorian Gray, de hoofdpersoon, wenst dat hij altijd zo jong en knap zal blijven als hij oogt op het schilderij dat zijn vriend Basil van hem heeft gemaakt en dat zijn afbeelding op het schilderij in zijn plaats ouder en lelijker wordt. Meisner en Gerris volgen in hun productie de verhaallijn van Wilde's boek, maar plaatsen het verhaal in een excentrieke, eigentijdse setting. Hoofdpersoon Dorian slaat in zijn zucht naar schoonheid en adoratie volkomen door, met alle gevolgen van dien. Hij belandt in een neerwaartse spiraal en raakt verstrikt in een labyrint waarin hij realiteit en fantasie niet meer kan scheiden.

BSG a rencontré Marc Giraud à l'occasion de la sortie de la "Nature au bord de l'eau" (Delachaux et Niestlé / Mars 2022).   Dans le dernier épisode de cette série (il y en aura d'autres avec l'ami Marc…;), outre l'étonnante armada des insectes nageurs, l'auteur nous dit un mot sur les canards. Aviez-vous remarqué que certains sont des barboteurs, qui “font le canard” croupion en l'air, mais que d'autres disparaissent sous la surface pour réapparaître plus loin? Les espèces de canard font partie de la famille des Anatidés (Canards, Oies et Cygnes). Ceux de l'hémisphère Nord sont le plus souvent migrateurs. Il y a trois grands types de canards : les canards de surface (ou barboteurs comme les Colverts) les canards plongeurs (ou nageurs comme les Fuligules et les Nettes) les canards piscivores (comme les Harles au bec effilé) Les canards de surface ou barboteurs (environ 55 espèces) trouvent leur nourriture en majorité à la surface de l'eau (végétaux, vers, crustacés, vers et mollusques). Ce sont les canards les plus connus : le Canard colvert (à l'origine du canard domestique), le Pilet, le Souchet, les Sarcelles. Ils sont surtout présents dans l'hémisphère nord. Ils préfèrent les eaux stagnantes (mares, étangs, marécages) et peu profondes. Ils décollent d'un coup et volent bien. Ils ont corps relevé vers l'arrière, contrairement aux canards plongeurs. Les canards plongeurs (16 espèces) se nourrissent en plongeant sous la surface. Ils préfèrent les eaux libres et ont besoin d'une certaine profondeur. Ils sont en général plus gros que les canards de surface et ont le corps incliné vers l'arrière (tête haute croupion bas). Ils battent péniblement des ailes à la surface de l'eau pour s'envoler. Ce sont les Fuligules (Milouin et Morillon pour les plus connus), les Garrots noirs et blancs et les Nettes aux yeux rouges et à la tête rousse, des célébrités du lac Léman. Les espèces du Nord sont migratrices, mais pas celles de l'hémisphère Sud. Les canards piscivores (5 espèces) mangent du poisson. Ils plongent et nagent encore mieux que les plongeurs. Ce sont les espèces du genre Mergus, les Harles, reconnaissables à leurs becs fins et allongés. _______
