WXVU was thrilled to have in-studio saxophonist Andrew Neu for a wide-ranging interview. WXVU's Nick Langan talked with Andrew about his internationally renown recording career, which includes time touring with Bobby Caldwell, Diane Schuur, Norman Brown and Smokey Robinson, the Philly Pops, and as an arranger with the Brian Pastor Big Band and the Dave Stahl Band. Andrew was born and raised in the Philadelphia area and still resides here today. He has released four Smooth Jazz CDs, and in 2018, released the album "Catwalk", a big-band jazz CD recorded at the famed Eastwest Studios in Los Angeles. Andrew began conducting the jazz ensemble at Swarthmore College in 2014, and he's conducted the jazz program at Lower Merion High School since 1999. His brother, Peter, conducts the jazz ensemble right here at Villanova! We had a blast discussing how he got into jazz, Andrew's instance on using live instruments in his recordings, to his latest single, produced by keyboardist Greg Manning, "Take It Home", which we are proud to be featuring prominently in our Smooth Jazz mix on WXVU.
