"I don't really believe in failing. I believe in just lessons, you learn from it and you move on...It's I got your back you got my back mentality, and I think it''s a beautiful thing we have right now and that's why you see me slowly starting to find my groove." Saquon Barkley Eagles Running Back On this episode of The Pivot Podcast in partnership with Fanatics, Saquon Barkley gives a raw and personal look into his ups and downs through the NFL and life beyond the game. Pivot family, Saquon opens up to Ryan, Fred and Channing about the pressure of being in the spotlight, and how everything can be transformed into clickbait these days, shaping a narrative that doesn't always reflect who he is-as seen with his most recent mic'd up viral moment against the NY Giants, a moment he wished stayed private but only shows more of who he really is at the core. Life in the public eye tends to be a lot, but for him, it's all about staying focused on the bigger picture—his team, his work ethic, and staying true to himself. Coming off the game against his former Giants team, the Eagles star player shares how the the Boo's in NY may have caught him off guard but only fueled his motivation and how he finds strength in moving forward, believing in his talent and staying true to his core. Saquon speaks on the power of self-confidence, but also how critical it is to look outside yourself and have a strong support system of family, friends, teammates, and coaches to steady his journey. Despite an opportunity to break several rushing records, Saquon opted to sit out towards the end of the game to let younger guys get playing time and he reflects back on that choice sharing how he never wants a single moment to outweigh the mission and always moves with humility and a full heart. That humility was born out his family's openness to making mistakes, which gave Saquon the tools necessary to learn from his own. Although he was on top of the football world this week, last month, he felt the pressures of Monday football, with a missed opportunity on a play he makes 10 out of 10 times, Saquon talks about bouncing back from that and the reaction from Quarterback Jalen Hurts and the entire vibe of Philadelphia's locker room. Ryan asks about the current relationship between the team and Head Coach Nick Sirianni in which Saquon responds in a way you wouldn't expect but even more reason to appreciate his authenticity and perspective. He gets honest with the guys on how his relationship with Siriani taught him to never judge a book by its cover, and he's truly an incredible coach and great listener with an open door policy that's seriously affected his game. Being at the center of one of the NFL's biggest offseason sagas, Saquon takes us inside the real business of the league, where the fun of playing the game often meets the harsh reality of negotiations, contracts, and drama. He tells Ryan, Fred, and Chan his version of how the dealings in NY really played out and digging deep to find peace in his growth not to expose it all during the process but somberly shares how the reality of it can sometimes kill the spirit of the little kid in you who just wants to play the game. Saquon realizes how blessed he is to be healthy and doing what he loves as He breaks down the differences between New York and Philly- from the one thing he misses about the Giants and what he has bought into with the intensely passionate Philly fan base. And of course, We couldn't let him go without asking about the league's current rusher and how he views the success of his fellow running back Derrick Henry...a wholesome but true competitor's response. With the 2023 NFL season just a week away, join former Philadelphia Eagles running back Markus Thomas as he sits down to take a look at the 2023 Philadelphia Eagles 53-man roster. Who will join Jalen Hurts, Jalen Carter, and Dallas Goedert when they suit up next week to take on the New England Patriots? Surprisingly K'Von Wallace, Nick Morrow, and Dennis Kelly will not. Are there more coming before the Eagles' Week 1 matchup against the New England Patriots? Was this the right move by Head Coach Nick Sirianni and General Manager Howie Roseman? Even with this new roster, will special teams continue to be an issue again this year?
The NFL season kicks off next week and Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles offense are gearing up for their week 1 battle against the New England Patriots. Former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker, and current FOX and 94.1 WIP analyst Garry Cobb takes a look at the Eagles franchise quarterback and the weapons surrounding him like A.J Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert. Is the only hurdle facing the NFC East Champions just staying healthy? Let us know in the comments below. Cam Jurgens has impressed throughout training camp and it looks like he will beat out rookie Tyler Steen for the starting right guard spot replacing Issac Seumalo who was signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the offseason. Jurgens, in his second year in the NFL, has only ever played center. How will the young athlete adjust? Will he have trouble finding his rhythm? Was it a smart move by Head Coach Nick Sirianni and Defensive Coordinator Sean Desai? Over the offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles running back room has some new occupants in D'Andre Swift and Rashad Penny. Swift was picked up during the 2023 NFL Draft as part of a trade with the Detroit Lions. Penny was signed following a 5 year stint with the Seattle Seahawks. Alongside Kenny Gainwell and Boston Scott, will these new additions be what this team needs to advance their ground game? Who will emerge as the top running back in 2023? Following the Super Bowl, the Eagles' defense gained a new defensive coordinator in Sean Desai but lost key players. Enter Jalen Carter. Drafted 9th overall by the Eagles earlier this year, the Georgia Bulldog defensive tackle has already positioned himself as one to watch throughout the season. Darius Slay and James Bradberry have continued to impress throughout training camp as well. However, an area of concern is the linebackers and the safeties. Are we getting good-quality play out of Nakobe Dean and Zach Cunningham? Is Reed Blankenship the right man to fill that starting safety role left vacant following the departure of C. J. Gardner-Johnson? As a former linebacker for the Eagles, as well as the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions, Cobb takes us inside the minds of these young defensemen and gives his thoughts on what adjustments he would make as the season approaches.
Football is Back! With the offseason coming to an end. I began creating Team Reports for all 32 teams. In this Team Reports we go over what happened in the 2022 season. I share key stats. We look at front office changes to coaching changes. We cover all free agent signings and breakdown some of the offseason biggest trades. We look at the draft and look for the next biggest star. I give fantasy advice and make predictions based on my own opinions & ideas. Let's Jump into it! What a year for Head Coach Nick Sirianni and QB Jalen Hurts. From being benched in 2021 to the beginning of 2022 having every doubt him to going 8-0. Finishing the year 14-3 and having an MVP type season, dominating in the playoffs against the Giants and 49ers. To beginning a few plays away from winning the Super Bowl against the Chiefs. Jalen Hurts showed us all so much last year. After his big contract I couldn't be happier for him. Big offseason as the Eagles look to rebound from the Super Bowl loss. Jalen Hurts returns with his top 3 options from last year in WR AJ Brown, WR DeVonta Smith, and TE Dallas Goedert. They lose Miles Sanders but bring in D'Andre Swift and Rashaad Penny to carry the load. Offensive line should be one of the better units returning 4 of 5 starters. Defense has an insane year last year. They arguably are better than last year. On the defensive line. Look out for the 9th overall pick Jalen Carter to destroy opposing teams game plans. Insane he fell to the 9th overall pick. He's reunited with his old teammate in Jordan Davis who's also a freak of nature. Those two guys in the middle could be a problem. Another Georgia Bulldog Nakobe Dean will have a breakout year. This coming year. Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, and James Bradberry are back with the team. Along with Darius Slay who is one of the top corners in the NFL and let's not forget Haason Reddick who had a dominate year last year. There may not be a team more talented on paper than them. My question is can they overcome losing their offensive coordinar and defensive coordinator in the same offseason? Although the strength of schedule will be tougher, Jalen Hurts has shown us time and time again he can perform under pressure. Their biggest competition will be the Dallas Cowboys. Fly Eagles Fly
Rhea Hughes, a long-time producer of SportsRadio WIP, joins Les Bowen on today's episode of “Bowen On The Birds.” Les will ask Rhea about the Philadelphia Eagles' OTAs this week and her perceptions of the fan base as a WIP Morning Show host. Why do the Eagles dominate the sports landscape here? It's not like they've always been winners, and the Philadelphia Phillies had a 50-year head start. Les will ask Rhea how being a woman in sports media has changed over the past few decades, and how the show is different in the wake of Angelo Cataldi's departure. Les will also want to get her perceptions of Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts and Head Coach Nick Sirianni; his perception is that Hurts is the most likable, engaging franchise QB the team has ever had. What does Rhea think?
