"Nothing would stop me; I'm a full-blown alcoholic addict, and nothing will stop me until I want to change. So that's the most important thing.” - Kristina and David will talk about getting help with addiction, and why a support network is so important. In this episode of "Overcoming Addiction Together,” we delve into the transformative power of seeking recovery assistance, and how getting help with addiction was the turning point in their lives. We learn about the critical moments that led David to the realisation that he needed help, and the couple's subsequent decision to pursue professional support. This decision marked the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, one that would be supported by a network of invaluable resources to help with cocaine addiction and alcoholism. The Goldings emphasise the role of support systems in David's recovery journey and getting help with addiction. They highlight the importance of family, friends, and recovery assistance communities, all of which provided a foundation of strength and encouragement. As we delve into the day-to-day experiences of navigating recovery of alcohol and drug abuse, David and Kristina share the challenges they faced, as well as the victories, big and small, that they celebrated along the way. For those listening who might be grappling with similar issues, David and Kristina offer their advice. They stress the significance of reaching out for help and not going through the struggle alone. One method that gets so much attention is using medications or other drugs - prescription drugs, marijuana, and as one reader pointed out psychedelic drugs. Should we use psychedelic drugs to treat addiction? Annie Grace explores this topic - where the idea originated from, why it might appeal to some people, how hallucinogens affect us, and so much more! As a child Kathy was different and could feel energy but it wasn't until she became an oncology nurse and took a Healing Touch workshop that she understood what it was. From there she was drawn to learn meditation because that was how she was able to feel the energy she experienced in the workshop. After some inner struggles Kathy feels that her meditation practice has brought her closer to her connection to her own Christian religious beliefs. Yet that realization has taken time and has been a theme for most of her life, finding her tribe. You wouldn't know that Kathy has had many challenges in her life as that is just not the way she looks at it. When life is hard or she is faced with a challenge, she asks God/the Universe for help and direction and it always comes. Talking to someone who is in the cycle of addiction can be frustrating until no one in the room is thinking clearly and nothing is accomplished except more pain and feelings of isolation for all involved. In short, more harm is done than good. I believe that family is key to both our personal strengths and weaknesses. It is where we both fall and rise up. Families, therefore, can be part of the problem and more importantly, part of the solution. So how do we reach out to someone that seems like a stranger to us. They are not only a stranger but an unlikeable one at that!Support the show (http://Aprilkirkwood.com)

I am speaking with Dr. Rachna Patel, The Medical Marijuana Expert this week on Medicare Nation. Dr. Rachna Patel completed her undergraduate studies at Northwestern University in Illinois and her Medical studies at Touro University in Vallejo, CA. Dr. Patel is a licensed practitioner in the State of California and is in impeccable standing with the State of California Medical Board. Dr. Patel may “recommend” medical marijuana for conditions and diagnoses such as, but not limited to: Chronic Pain (nerve, muscular) Auto-Immune Conditions Anxiety Insomnia Cancer Eating Disorders Dr. Patel may “not” recommend medical marijuana for conditions and diagnoses such as, but not limited to: Spinal Stenosis Severe “Shingles” Case Bi-Polar Disorder History of Heart Attack/Stroke Medical Marijuana is “Googled” daily by tens-of-thousands of people. According to ProCon.org , Colorado residents show the most interest in “searching” information on Medical Marijuana.
